Fiends,

I've just been made aware that the EXPO OF THE EXTREME in
Chicago, advertised THE UNDEAD. They were tld over a month ago that we
were not interested in playing their show.	If you bought tickets
based on this false advertising - save your ticket stub and contact me.
I'm gonna look into what kind of legal action can be taken on this scam.

First - does anyone have either of the following two Meatmen albums:
We're The Meatmen... And You Still Suck!
  Stud Powercock: The T&G Years

I need some specific information for both albums (track listing for
Stud Powercock) - can anyone help?

Any person in a band can tell you that it's a rare instance when one person
comes up with every lyric, every vocal intonation, every bass note, every guitar
strum, and every drum beat. While it is true that Jerry and the other band
members wrote very little of the music and no lyrics, they did participate
in working out the songs. Jerry and other former band members compiled a
listing of everything that they had contributed to the songs (for the original
lawsuit) and it listed plenty of instances in which Glenn had been helped
by other band members. In fact, there's a rehearsal tape out there from
September of '81 which has the whole band working out "Die Die My Darling"
and "Queen Wasp" - Glenn, Jerry, Googy, and Doyle.

I assume you're responding to my comment about "Leper Messiah" - that's
basically what I had heard. Mustaine supposedly claimed that the lyrics
to "Leper Messiah" had been written while he was in the band and that
Hetfield used them and didn't credit him.

I understand that this mailing list is not the Metallica mailing list,
but check your facts - first, Master Of Puppets came out in February '86,
not '85. Second, "Kill 'Em All" and "Ride The Lightning," both of which
were released AFTER Mustaine left the band, contained several songs written
by Mustaine. In fact, I bet they haven't done a show in 14 years without a
song written by the man.

> 3. "I coulda' swore they credit Danzig with "Last Caress" and "Green

Actually, they credited a mysterious "Glen Danzig," not to be confused
with our very own Glenn Danzig.

> Key word being "DANZIG". "LAST CARESS" AND "GREEN HELL" WERE WRITTEN BY
> DANZIG, NOT JERRY. METALLICA AND DANZIG HAPPEN TO BE FRIENDS.

And these days, The Misfits and Metallica are friends as well. Both
James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett attended a Misfits show last summer and
hung out with the band after the show. Feuds are fun and all, but this
time, the feud no longer exists.

"Wherever I Roam" recorded by Jerry and Doyle as Kryst The Conqueror
was written and recorded in 1987. Jerry gave the tape to the Metallica
guys in 1989. Now, look at your statement #6, and think about why Jerry
might be pissed.

There is no non-promo version, and apparently there will not be. Just
5000 copies of the promo were made, and that's where they stopped it.

THIS IS A COMPLETE LIE. I know some of you don't believe Jerry and the
current lineup of the Misfits, and a lot of you are fueled by various
people badmouthing him. However, not only did Tom Begrowicz and the people
from Caroline call him and ask him to check the lyrics, but he was even
given copies in person. He just blew them off. You can ask Tom, you
can ask Jerry, you can ask any Caroline Records employee who worked on the
box set.

We all know the lyrics are wrong, and it's because Glenn refused to have any
part in making the box set. And that's a fact.

I guess you better tell Steve Zing that he didn't play on it then, because
both he and Eerie seem to remember him playing on it. Also, check out
the drums to Glenn's versions of "Who Killed Marilyn" and "Spook City USA" and
even "Archangel" and tell me how he went from being a terrible drummer
to a great drummer, but for only one song.

Keep in mind that Glenn has an extremely selective memory. Just read
the recent Seconds #44 interview and you'll see all the bizarre things he says
about Eerie and the other Danzig members. Then email Eerie.

While I have everybody's attention, I'll take the time to review
two items I was recently sent.

1 - Fangboy And The Ghouls: Welcome To The Chamber Of Thrills
This CD consists of a good mix of horror and humor-oriented tracks
and the layout is really well-done. These guys are from California
and have a cool horror-ish look. Contact fangboy@west.net for
more information.

2 - Ripsnorter: Ghouls Night Outtakes
By now, I'm sure most of us are familiar with Ripsnorter, as they
were featured on the two recent Misfits Bible tribute releases.
This EP includes a good handful of well-done Misfits covers,
including "Skulls" (which was on the 2 tributes), and comes with
a really nice cassette J-card (I believe that's what it's called).
Check out http://ripsnorter.plan-9.com for more information.

[halloween]
i just got back from Los Angeles. i spent the weekend out there to hit
the Misfits and Danzig shows. here are my reviews.

[misfits]
i didn't get into the Palace until Sick Of It All's set was almost finished.
i could have done without em, but what could i do? people were anxious, and
were singing the chorus to Halloween before the Misfits came out. they started
off with a movie montage to the tune of a techno remixed Halloween II. it was
the same song, just looped or something. of course, Dr. Phibes was played, and
the show was on. the pit was cool, but far too many people needed their asses
kicked. a couple of Bible shirts were in the crowd, along with a couple of
other freaky-lookin people. two that come to mind are a guy with short hair
except for his long sideburns, and a guy with glasses with an awesome Space
Invaders shirt.
the Misfits were rockin...i love the way Doyle and Jerry barely play their
instruments, yet their sound is full. who could tell if Doyle downpicks
everything when he has all that distortion and chorus going? after their
regular set, the encore included "monster mash", or, more accurately "monster
mush". if Jerry's gonna sing lead, they need to turn up his vocals. soon,
they were taking fan requests. some dorky-lookin guy was yelling out "thunder
thruster" ... that was pretty funny. did anyone see the girl he was with?
hubba hubba ... i think they were the same couple that were making out near
the Misfits Winnebago before the show.
after the show, there was a huge crush to get out of the Palace. the
intelligence level of some of those fiends would make a june bug look smart.
after this show, i was off to ...

[danzig]
i got there a little late, as Danzig was about 30 secs into "deep". the
Whisky was packed, and thus steamy hot. no one seemed to mind, as everyone
was singing along and really into it. the band looked great... similar to
the Glenn/Eerie/Pete/Steve lineup of Samhain. they busted through some crowd
faves, then paused for the last song. Glenn ripped on Jerry's Seconds
interview, said the band would be playing a "new song", then Danzig blasted
through "death comes ripping". it was awesome, the pit went wild, everyone
was singing. for the encore, the band came out and did "halloween II", the
Samhain way. i don't know what they played between the other bands, but the
muzak played after Danzig sounded like Glenn's voice. being half-deaf by then,
does anyone know what they were playing?
this new Danzig looks great, even though Glenn's voice was shot and i
couldn't even hear the guitar. i look forward to Danzig 6.
i was able to meet fellow fiends and tab contributers, Tim Herrmann and Ryq.
it was nice meeting them, i wish i could have actually heard them. :)
i saw that "thunder thruster" guy at this show, too. what kind of justice
is it when a dork like that is out with such a hot-lookin woman?

[undead.plan-9.com]
when i saw Ryq at the Danzig show, he told me he didn't understand why
he was given credit for the new Undead website in a previous post. i
apologized...i meant to type Mark.
speaking of the Undead, new transcriptions are available.

cheers

EN from Six Sins Left and I were discussing what would happen if Geffen
dumped the Misfits. We figured Roadrunner, Sub Pop, or Interscope would
pick them up. The last two were less likely because Sub Pop is small and
Interscope is MCA. I can definately see them (or rather hear them) on a
thrashin' label like Road Runner. There's not a lot of other labels that
would really take them on other than FAT WRECK CHORDS (yeah Right) or
Epitaph (who would probably come 2nd to RR).

From: OBHC
Subject: SF Show Review

Well, as expected, the show was awesome despite a few technical errors
throughout the show. The Misfits' set opened up with the Crimson Ghost
coming out on stage and grabbing and scarring people, then he walked
backed stage and came back out dragging Michael in chains and straight
jacket, then Michael busts out and they go in to American Psycho. After
about 4 or 5 songs from the new album the power goes out on everything
but the vocal mics, and the Misfits went right in to a drums and vocals
only version of Come Back, with just CHUD playing and the crowd, jerry,
and michael singing. It was reallly cool. The power kicked back on about
30 seconds before the song was over and they finished it normally. After
about the 3 time the power went out Jerry was basically like "fuck the
setlist and all this shit, what do you guys want to hear?!?" From there
on they pretty much did the set by request. The show was nothing short
of spectacular despite all the power failures (about 5 total), not to
many people gave a shit, I know i didn't.

-A random comment by Sick Of It All's singing was quite true and worth
sharing what he said. He basically stated during their set that "It was
really great that the Misfits got back together and released an awesome
album, Just look at the new crap Danzig has out". The crowd gave a
pretty good cheer to that one.

Anyways, they were selling t-shirts and all the usuall shit, but i was
quite surprised (and very glad) that they were selling the Dig Up Her
Bones single on blue 7" and cd. Both costed $20 each. They also had
promo pics, trading cards, hats, stickers, and cds.

Here's the songs i remember them playing. They're not really in order:

Dr . Phibes / American Psycho / The haunting / From Hell They came /
Walk Among Us/ Come Back (unplugged) / Static Age / TV Casualty / Last
Carress / Devils Whorehouse / Crimson Ghost / I Turned Into A Martian /
Speak of the Devil / Hybrid Moments / Resurrection / Mommy... / Dig Up
Her Bones / Horror Hotel / Skulls / Astro Zombies / Halloween / Bullet /
We Are 138 / The Hunger / Green Hell / Bloodfeast / Death Comes Ripping
/ Devilock / Die Die My Darling

I think thats it, but im sure i forgot a couple. They played for about
an hour half, of which probably 10 minutes was due to power outs.

Re: Subject: one last time for the retarded (crack)fiends

I realize now that my mistake was putting someone's name at the top of
my post (in this case yours, as you were the author of the original post).
Perhaps you perceived this as a personal attack, which it wasn't really
intended to be. For this, I apologize, but since you so eloquently rebutted,
I simply could not resist doing so in turn·
To clarify my post from issue # 399· I never claimed that Metallica
stole, borrowed, etc. any song from any band. I made the comment that it was
humorous to me that someone actually thinks that: "Metallica kicks ass and
so far everything on every album is original. THEIRS!!!!!" Which,
incidentally, is the quote from your post in Misfits Bible issue # 398 that
prompted my entire reply.
>>From your post in issue #400: "READ (IF YOU CAN) ABOVE. Anything not on
GARAGE DAYS was on a b-side orother, but NOT on an ALBUM". --Read it? I
WROTE it!
I'll reiterate, since you obviously missed it the first time. I'll make
my point with a numbered list this time, since it is something you seem to be
able to understand. Now, correct me if I'm wrong·
  1. "Kill 'Em All" is a Metallica album.
  2. "Am I Evil" and "Blitzkrieg" are two songs on the album: "Kill 'Em All".
  3. "Am I Evil" and "Blitzkrieg" are NOT original Metallica songs.
  4. You are someone who, due to inbreeding, an extra chromosome, an
unfortunate head injury, plain stupidity, blissful ignorance, or some other
unforeseeable reason, cannot comprehend simple English, and feel that you
must try to belittle people for some reason. (I'm trying your
technique...have I got it right?)
Now, all childish bickering aside, I just wanted to thank you for the
'education'. I know that I, for one, feel better with the knowledge that
thanks to you, I am now aware of "METALLICA's superiority over Jerry. And any
other band onearth for that matter."
Oh, and I'll also try to keep in mind your advice: "9. TO PSYKOHOLIC
(PSYKOHOLIC@AOL.COM) DO YOUR HOMEWORK, READ THE BIO ONJERRY, DON'T SODOMIZE
YOUR MOM, AND READ UP ON MASTURBATING, BECAUSE ITIS BAD FOR YOU."
It's good to know that there are friendly people like you who made mistakes,
were able to learn from them, and are willing to warn others like myself, so
that we don't make them in turn.
Thanks again! Take it easy, fiends.

I agree with the woman who wrote saying Marilyn Manson is not a Goth. He's an
entertainer who most likely curs up with the Bible after a show. Real Goths
life their lifes facing the reality that the world is cold and hard and going
to shit. Most Goths I know are really nice people who aren't as bad as people
think. They all don't worship Satan or wear black all the time. And most of
them who listen to the Misfits are as rabid fans as we are. So please, don't
confuse Goths with those Manson wanna-be's at the mall in their little outfits

Subject: Questions?

1) How much is the Dig Up Her Bones 7" going for now? How much did the
one in the auction sell for?
Because I got mine for an outragous price of 20 dollars at the show then
I walked 6 feet and had Jerry sign it.
I'm a little mad there's some kind of dirt on the cover of it. Also, the
Misfits did have to pay for them, they didn't get them for free. I don't
want to sell it but I was wondering. Didn't some fool get it from the
auction for $100?

2) How much are you willing to pay for chopsticks used by Glenn Danzig?

If you can find the Balzac cd, get it. We all (138) agree it's better
than American Psycho.
They also have one song on that Hail to Misfits European tribute album.

Expect a post from Tim real soon...you'll be surprised.

Subject: Misfits concert October 25th...
Date: Mon, 3 Nov 1997 19:02:13 -0500

Before I get to the concert, anyone who has a copy of the Power Play or any
cool Misfits footage (new preferrably), please send me an e-mail. I'm
willing to pay, since I don't have anything to trade with, except for the
New Jersey show from '96 and a taped version of Shocking Return.

I went to the Newport Music Hall (Columbus, OH) to see the Misfits on
October 25th. I'd never been there before, and the name made me think of
this big auditorium, but it turned out to be an old theatre which was
converted into a concert hall. It's a dump, but there's plenty of room. I
got on the 2nd floor balcony, and could see everything. A local band played
first (Coal Chamber), which sucked. Then the Misfits played and then Type-O
Negative.

The Misfits started with the usual Crimson Ghost running around the stage.
No TV or Halloween, tho. Then Dr. Chud lit on stage followed by Jerry,
Doyle and Michale. Michael struggled out of his straight-jacked as usual.
They ran through a lot of songs, including Return of the Fly and DUHB, as
well as Devil's Whorehouse and Hybrid Moments. All in all a kick-ass show.
Doyle was playing so hard, he broke some guitar strings during a song and
had to get another guitar. They played for about an hour and half. Michale
threw his shirt up onto the balcony I was on. The crew kept shooting fog
out of these jack-o-lanterns on Dr. Chud's drum platform, which was cool.
Michale got a mosh pit going during Mommy, Can I Go Out and Kill Tonight?
Some dude came out and helped with We Are 138. Finally, everyone left the
stage except Jerry. He coaxed everyone else back on stage to do Halloween,
which was cool (THANKS, JERRY!). It seemed to me they could have played
longer, but I think they didn't like the shithole they were playing in.
Doyle and Dr. Chud seemed indifferent, but Michale, I think, was ready to
quit. Can't blame him, I guess. Type-O Negative got on stage afterwards
and rocked. If you've ever seen the lead singer in person, you know he's
huge. I couldn't believe it. He looked like a giant on stage. At
the end of their concert, they broke out a big crate of toilet paper and
started throwing rolls all over the place. I got pinged in the head a few
times. By the time the last roll was unravelled the whole place was covered
in paper. **If anyone has a tape or pics of this concert, please e-mail
me... I'd be willing to pay for them**

Here's something to ponder. Have you ever watched Doyle on stage and
wondered what the hell he was thinking and feeling at the time? He seems so
closed and quiet. I'd like to hear from people who have met him in person
and talked to him. What's he like?

Subject: What choo talkin' bout willis?

This portion of the arlo show goes out to the guy with metallica in the
brain...
MISFITS=PUNK
METALLICA=METAL(And not very good metal at that)
what the hell am I talking about? it's pretty simple, actually. comparing
the Fits and metallica is kinda like comparing bowling and birdwatching.
why? I recall an interview that James hetfield described orion and some
other instrumental they do as "the last great rock opera written" Rock
opera? I never heard anything like that from the misfits. ever. What is
this LOAD stuff, anyway? it sounds like they are producing some kind of
Bush-pearl jam metal. they just arent the same. on to subject two.
The Misfits were punk as fuck, and I think that everyone here will agree
that they have changed as well, but are still closer to punk that
metallicca is to metal. especially considering the way metal has changed
here in the last 4 or 5 years (E.X. Korn,Prong,Deftones, etc,etc) my
point is that Metallica may be bigger than the Fits (Right now, anyway)
that does not neccecarily make them better. both bands have simply made
themselves more marketable, and the Fits succeded and managed to stay
closer to the bone than metallica did.

Do YOUR homework, man, Jerry Claimed that "Wherever I may Roam" was
written while in Kryst the conquerer, not after the re-formation.
it's in the discography that mark has,I think.

This shit about Metallicca should beat the shit out Jerry and Michale
yadda yadda yadda. you should realize that you are making yourself look
like a moron.

ya know, for Jerry being an untalented moron and all, he actually did a
pretty good job with the fits for those few YEARS he was with them.

as much as I love Glenn, if he is such a bad ass songwriter, why did the
original fits only have about 100 songs written over the course of the
original fits life? and why do alot of them sound the same?

then we have Mettallicca, that the majority of the songs on the first 3
albums sound exactly the same.

so yeah, Metttalllicccaaaa may be more musically talented than Jerry,
but Jerry is still the Man. why? because he still tries to do something
a little more interesting than your average run of the mill
boring ass lyricly inept metal bullshit. seeing as that's metalica,s
whole bag, they don't have much choice but to suck, now do they?

You're so silly.
I bet you have all the episodes of bevis and butt-head recorded, don't
you?
I recall when Henry rollins beat the feathers out of kirk hammet and
lard ulrich backstage when they dissed on Him for something during a
show. (I have some 'zine clippings from it) you would think such a
couple of bad ass metalheads such as themselves would have torn him a
new one, huh? whats really funny is that Jerry and Doyle only outweigh
all of metallica by about 100 pounds.(someone should tell these guys
that cocaine is bad for you)
well, anyway, i'm done. all I can say is do yourself a favor and read
the discography before you screw off at the mouth again.
by the way, the 80's called and they want thier hair back.

Hi,

Have been reading the last couple of bibles and just wanted to
say--(although I've felt it before, but felt I needed to say
something at this point)--this list is really becoming a waste of
space or cyberspace or whatever you may want to call it. I've read
through irrelevant, obnoxious, worthless, and useless comments
before, but this seems to be getting out of hand. If glenn and eerie
killed people--great, the victums probably deserved it or the
authorities might have picked up on it before this wonderful debate
and criminal investigation took place on this less than cerebral
mailing list. Honestly, if I could kill people, and only had to
worry about some fool people debating about it, I would have commited
my first homicide years ago.
Also, please let the Metallica/Misfits shit die. Bottom
line--the guys from Metallica were fans and did a couple (and still
do) Misfits songs. This whole shit of stealing and who is better is
just plain dumb. Both are good bands in their own way--the debate is
just plain stupid.
The m manson stuff? Can't anyone like music without bullshit? I
like m manson, and I like the Partridge Family. I also happen to be
a fan of the Misfits, The Bay City Rollers, Deicide, Fleetwood Mac,
Mozart, the Beatles, Redd Kross, Bach, Zeppelin, the Germs, Hanoi
Rocks, The Clash, Eric Carmen, Kiss, Haydin, Fiona Apple, Garth
Brooks, Warrior Soul, Pink Floyd, the Sex Pistols, the
Doors etc...--You all may call me contradictary, mixed up, or maybe
plain dumb or "uncool", but I call it eclectic, and I like whatever
I want to like and don't compromise.

Thank you,

Personally, I think that would be great in a way if that happened.
Roadrunner is a great label and treats there bands good. There not major
either even thought they're like the biggest for metal/hardcore/punk. I
was surprised at first when i heard Geffen had signed them, just because
I knew Misfits are not a popular enough band to pull in the money a
major label would want.

Mustaine wrote `The Four Horsemen' with Hetfield & Ulrich. He just changed
the lyrics when he recorded it for `Killing is my Business' because Metallica
already had it on `Kill 'Em All'. He's also got song writing credits for
`Jump in the Fire', `Phantom Lord', `Ride the Lightning', and `The Call of
Ktulu'.

Learn to quote properly.

Just because Mustaine got the boot doesn't mean shit, and if he couldn't
`write a song' why did he get all those song writing credits on `Kill 'Em
All' and `Ride the Lightning'? If you were a real Metallica fan you'd know
why he was kicked out. When Megadeth recorded `Killing is my Business' they
wasted half of the $8000.00 recording budget on drugs.

As for all the other crap you wrote, it looks like you're just trying to
start an argument and fill this list with crap.

What kind of a nerd are you? Gee-wiz, let's be clueless dorks and turn
punk rock into a term paper. Yipee.
Anyway, idiot, even if you don't think the idea of a punk rock term
paper is stupid(and unoriginal, the book "The Philosophy of Punk" was
written as a college thesis), why would you write one if you have no
real knowlegde of punk rock, which you obviously don't because a.) you
need to read a book about it and b.) you picked a pretentious,
clueless music journalist like Greil Marcus(who thinks Bruce
Springsteen is punk) to give your information.
The point is, the only people who know enough about punk rock to
write a paper about it are the ones who realize how stupid a term
paper about punk rock would be.

Wow...juicy stuff lately...
First off, these accounts of Danzig playing Halloween II and Death
Coems Ripping are damned exciting. I don't know, but the thought of
Glenn playing 2 'Fits songs with three new backing people does sound a
little cooler than Doyle and Jerry playin 20 Fits songs with 2 new
guys. Then again, I like the new Fits album so I'm really not going to
take sides in the whole Graves vs Danzig thing, since I'm probably the
only person on here who thinks they both have their merits. Anyway, is
Danzig ever going to come to New York? I had tickets to see them last
year but they cancelled and I haven't heard anything since. I missed
the Fits with Gwar, I don't wanna miss Danzig.
The other cool shit on the recent Bibles was that one person's "my
dinner with Glenn" story where Glenn discussed the Samhain box set.
When the hell is this going to come out? Oh, and by the way, Glenn
thinks the Fits box set sucks, but what about the "How the gods kill"
special edition box set? Now THAT was bad..(glass houses, Glenn!).
Anyway, I just find the news that Danzig is finally acknowledging his
Pre-Danzig career encouraging.

Subject: dinner with Danzig and hanging with the 'Fits too!

Oh well, by now all you little fiends have read Inzo's little letter about
dinner with his Glenness. We went out to a nice Japanese restaurant in
Oakland. Glenn and I sat next to each other and talked comics. He is a
hard core comic geek (just like yours truly). We talked about the old days
of collecting, found out we had a bunch of friends (fiends?) in common. For
those of you who look at Glenn as a god, he is just a guy. We did talk a
bit about the Misfits a little. Maybe he's finally mellowing, because he
didn't raise any hackles. Although his coments were far from flattering,
they were at least not vicious. If you want more info on Glenn's comic (and
art) tastes or just we talked about, feel free to drop a line. Oh by the
way, Glenn was really cool towards my 11 year old daughter.
Next order of business.... Sunday with the Fits. After the show (which
you'll hear about in far greater detail from others I'm sure) which was
great, I had a chance to sit down with Jerry, and chat about the future.
The chat lasted almost 2 hours. We are almost settled on 21st Century Toys
to produce a (*gasp*) 12" FULLY ARTICULATED figure. Seperate sculptings for
each body, in correct scale (no Glenn jokes). There is (at least right now)
not going to be a Danzig figure produced. I don't think the hassles would
be worth it.
We are also (finally) putting together a web site for a full line of
Misfit's paraphenalia. We have asked Inzo to do it. If all goes well it
should be up and running in the near future. BTW if you have suggestions on
what to do on the site, write either to me or Inzo at mikei@ecis.com and we
will take your suggestion seriously. Also we are looking for suggestions for
a good domain name, send me your ideas (check and make sure they aren't
taken yet befor submitting), the winner will receive a really cool prize (I
don't know what yet, but rest assured it will be cool).
Any suggestions for merchandise will also be taken directly to Jerry, and if
it feasable, we will strongly consider it.
Finally, for those of you with questions for the band, write to me
directly with them. I will pass them along weekly (weakly?) and get
responses back asap. But please no STUPID oft repeated on the bible
questions, like is Glenn gonna rejoin. If there is a lot of people asking
the same question, I will post to the bible directly, if it is a one shot,
I'll mail it back. I am going to be pretty busy, so patience will be
appreciated, but I will get back to you.
BTW the one question a lot of people have already asked me, who is cooler
to hang out with, Glenn or the Fits? (first of all, the only one who could
really answer the question best would be Eerie) My answer is kinda
confused. Hanging out with Glenn is being with a rock star who is concious
of the fact (and it takes him a while to relax), and never really forgets
it. He is cool, and is a great guy, who I admire tremendously (both
musically and as a collector). But there is always a little aloofness.
Maybe because he is so use to being used by people, but it's still there.
Jerry and the boys (even Doyle) aren't like that. They are the kind of
guys who will come up and hug you. Jerry even remebered my kids names. The
rock star thing still hasn't (and probably won't) come up. Maybe because
they are restarting after getting real lives first. Hell, Jerry and I
talked about our kids for almost 20 minutes. They are genuinely fond of people.
I guess you probably gather that I like the New Fits better, that's
probably true.
But even so I really like the time I have gotten to spend with Glenn.
Well I gotta go, more next week.

                                Tim

Subject: OFFICIAL FIEND CLUB SITE UP FOR A PEEK

I started on the page and you can go to look and see what you think. I
am far from done with what I know I have to do so far. One thing I will
say is the menu will be in monster lettering but I am waiting till the
menu is for certain before I make gif images.

You can keep checking back I suppose. I will be working on it almost
every day.

Tim and I need your suggestions.

Just so you know, "Band Questions" is where you can email us a descent
question and we'll ask the band for you.

The Trading post will be (I think) like the bulletin board at the Danzig
page. Fiends can post Misfits/Samhain/Danzig/Undead records they want to
trade and it will be a happy little trading page. YOU MAY NOT SELL
RECORDS OR SELL BOOTLEGS.

by the way, I am using the logo from Misfits Central cuz Tim wanted a
red one, I had green, and I actually sent that one to Mark, remember he
had the messed up one? Then after he got it someone put the black
outline around it.

I want this page to sorta be a sibling of Misfits Central, We're not
taking over.

Can someone make a small logo that Says MISFITS CENTRAL for the page and
send it to me? I'd like it to say Misfits in the red monster lettering
and then below have it say central in normalish white lettering. Make it
somewhere around 2" by 1 1/2". I might just make it myslef tommorow.

This is where the page is for now.

Hello fiends...

Boy its nice to be able just to post and not have to thing about what the
answers are going to be . Well thank you too all who have posted on
Mondays bible and i'm glad you all enjoyed this. I do need to point out
one thing. If the fiends who played the contest could not get this then i
figure a lot of you might no have gotten it either. In the movie Them
Gramps was filled with Formic Acid since he was stung to death by the ants.
Dr. Medford used Formic acid to get the little girl to talk again - being
that she was in a state of shock from seeing her family attacked and killed
by Giant ants. Its a great movie and must rent kind, black and white to
boot with a great open to the movie.

Oh, there is something i just came across in the mail, i guess if you are
in love with the new Misfits or just like the horror art there is a new
poster up for grabs. its being sold by Artrock in San Francisco. The
Artist is Alan Forbes, the poster says Misfits on top, has the Crimson
Ghost holding open his shroud with the Phantom of the Opera inside. the
bottom has the tour date for the House of Blues show that was on July 20th.
the size is 35" X 22 1/2"
price is $50, and the code is (PCL168) Misfits 97. its silkscreen edition
of 500 total. the scary thing is they are selling the original art work,
hold your lungs here $950. if any of you are that in need the code is
(PCL168.A.)

Margaret had posted about Marilyn and Gothic. I'm not surprised that they
would try to connect that label with that fool from Boca Raton(i hear from
time to time claims that he was from Fort Lauderdale, but i have come
across enough stuff and hear things about when he was living in the largest
retirement community in South Florida, comes close to rival Miami Beach.
Only the last couple years younger people have staked claim to Boca, then
again several delusional people who thought that Broward and beyond would
never get hit with a Hurricane. ;) ) Though most Gothics know better than
that, see its really easy to label a band and sell a few more record that
way. Then again there is a Goth mag that seems very confused. It was all
goth, though they were pushing Danzig as goth a 4 - 5 years ago. Also
Michael Monroe from Hanoi Rocks and some hard rock bands.
By the way, i do have one question for you Margaret, what do you mean by
what the Misfits went through with Glenn? It makes it sound as if he was
tourturing the other members or holding a gun to their heads to be in the
band.

Plus Leper Messiah was part of the lyrics to Ziggy Stardust, orig. by Bowie
during his Ziggy Stardust period, plus there is a lp and a movie called
Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

Oh, last here, before i pass out on my key board.
I loved the posts about the Danzig shows, did any of you happen to tape
audio or video this show, or know of anyone who did?

Later to all you wonderful fiends!?!

I guess I could say the Halloween show was the greatest. I unfortunately missed my last chance to see the misfits back in 82-83. I waited a very long time since then to see them. Well worth it. Oh, I'd seen Samhain, and Danzig, but it just wasn't the same. I'm not a collector. I've been into the misfits since I was 10, and I only own 2 cd's. I heard their older stuff through friends who had all the singles, and such. In a sense, I guess you could say, I grew up listening to the misfits. I don't want to waste too much space in the bible, but then again, I don't consider it a waste of space if you are Saying thanks, and not bashing anyone/anything herein. I took the hour and a half trip to Seattle to see 'em, and it was well worth it. I've been keeping up with the bible for a bit now, and this show went along the same lines most people have been talking about already. Same intro with the Crimson Ghost and smoke machines, and Michale in the straightjacket. He had a tophat, too. They played most everything off of american psycho, except for "This island earth," "Mars Attacks," and a few others. They played a lot of the good old ones, too, like "Astro Zombies," "Last Caress," "I turned into a martian," "Halloween," T.V. Casualty," "Last Caress," "Hatebreeders," and more. I can't recall it all right now since I'm running on so little sleep. They played a new song called "scream," it wasn't bad. I can't remeber what they closed with. They played for a long time. Doyle's guitar was too loud and rumbly, it was like you heard massive rumble with some music in the background. Maybe I was too close. Halfway through the show or so, I popped my eardrums in (like what you do when you're in a plane taking off) and it cut all the rumble! the show sounded amazing after that, I could hear everyone perfectly. At one point Jerry asked the crowd if they wanted them to play here next time (RCKNDY) or the moore theatre. The overwhelming response from the crowd was for the next show to be at RCKNDY. I overheard a fan asking Jerry when they were coming back and he said "real soon." Nice guy, that Jerry. Overall, it was a great night for me. Got my picture taken with Jerry, Got his signature, and I even ran into my old band. Shout out to Feedback and the Firebugs! Later. ------------------------------ From: Xylophobia Date: Wed, 5 Nov 1997 13:25:07 -0500 (EST) Subject: Geffen v. Misfits Hello fiends - before everyone starts going crazy about Geffen dropping The Misfits, let me mention something. Jerry and the band worked the deal with Geffen so that they (Geffen) were only there for distribution. That's why Geffen isn't behind them for touring, merchandising and making videos. It was simply a distribution deal. What's more, they (The Misfits) signed for only ONE album, with the option to renegotiate and re-sign if both parties were interested. That was my understanding anyway, as I was told by Jerry. So Geffen didn't really drop The Misfits - they just don't want to re-sign them. Also, somebody posted about the purple pressing of Static Age. There were supposed to be 100 copies, but because of some miscommunication between Caroline and the pressing plant, 500 were pressed. Hello fellow Fiends, I've recently seen alot of stuff about "Marilyn Manson". I live in Port Charlotte (port toilet), FL. It's about 20 or so inutes from Boca Raton. Not to get nit-pickey but we have many more Retirees in P.C. than they have in Boca Raton. The average (median) age of a person here is 43, whereas in most other communities it ranges from 19-26. What was the point? Oh yeah, Boca is loaded with very wealthy people, and I sincerely doubt that Brian (MM's real name) came from there. All's I know is when the spooky kids wanted to play club Exodus (now The Club), the management wouldn't let them because they were gonna have kitty litter boxes on stage to crap in. this isn't heresay. I don't know if the shit I've heard about him doing nowadays on stage is true, but a lot of it is believeable (Hell, I'd do it for the money he makes). Sorry to turn this into the Manson Bible, flame me if ya want to Feral p.s. Can whoever takes care of the Bible stop sending it to me twice, PLEASE? I have been getting double copies for quite awhile. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Nov 1997 15:51:42 -0500 Subject: Danzig who, Michale what?? From: mklippold13@juno.com (Mark K Lippold) Allright, just my opinon, please feel free to personally attack (I mean email me) if you would like to respond. I'm just giving my two cents about this whole Glenn vs. Michale shit that continues to waste all of our time. Glenn Danzig (speaking only in relation to the Misfits, not Samhain or Danzig, cause I'm sick of both) is a talented man. Wheter it be in song writing or whatever, he's certainly talented in alot of diverse areas. Okay, I'll admit that!! But one thing Glenn is that not many people seem to have publically said is a control freak!!! He wants to control every band he's involved in, the members of the band, the song writing of the band, etc. Glenn has never realized it's a band, not just little ol Glenn. I started listening to the Misfits in late '85 (before Metallicrap did Last Caress/Green Hell), and I liked them for the Misfits, not Glenn Danzig. Samhain was more of the same, just a little different attitude. And Danzig (the band) sounded like a Elvis,Jim Morrison,Roy Orbison tribute marathon. Anyway, Glenn was Glenn, a control freak, why so many bands and so many members? (Not to mention labels). Do the math!! I like Glenn and his Misfits without a doubt, but I can also be fair when judging him. As far as Michale, he is doing a great job in a rather difficult sitiuation. I mean, if the Fits asked me to sing, I'd say hell ya too. But, people need to stop talking shit about Michale because he's not Glenn, and he'd probably tell you he wouldn't want to be either. I love Glenn and the 'Fits, I love Michale and the 'Fits, I just love the Misfits. I don't give a fuck who is singing or playing guitar. So, get over it!!! However, instead of wasting more Bible space guys, email me with your comments if you want to flame me, and I'll respond. But I will not get into a "You suck" conversation. From: davenaked@juno.com (three inverted nines) Date: Thu, 06 Nov 1997 18:19:00 EST As most of you should know, my former band "My GirlFriends Possessed" has broken up, as my lead guitarist SOLD (yes, sold) his guitar. Alas, the band had to end....and, damn it...without doing ANYTHING at all... No worry, bible people...it seems to be the dawning of a new age..... Red Tyde. My new band. Although, I am merely the manager, if you will, I feel I should be counted as a full on band member. Fair enough, right? Hell, Sleazy P. did it so I dont want to hear any bitching (Alright, Dan??!!). A bit about this band. Its kind of an Alterna-Metal thing. When the band first started, they were straight up metal but as time went on, the guys progressed into something much more. At risk of sounding like a conceded fuck, Im going to have to say that the guys rock (I shit you not). Imagine if the guys in Metallica, those Foo Fighter fellows, and the boys in The Misfits were thrown into a room and FORCED to do combat. If those standing formed a band, well, they kinda sound like what Red Tyde sounds like. Get it? A third demo tape is nearing completion, and the song to be pushed off that one will be a straight out punk cover of the Spice Girls (??) "2 Become 1" (!!). Ive heard it, and its truly great. We allready have a bunch of college stations who say theyre gonna play it, so dont be suprised if you hear them on your local FM : ) A CD will eventually be in the works...eventually. Also, look for Red Tyde on the upcoming "Spook City" Misfits tribute doing "Dig Up her Bones". Where am I going with this?? Several things... First off, to join the Red Tyde mailing list send your full name, email address, and real address to "RedMetal@juno.com". We allready have around thirty names and are always looking for more! Basicly, you get emailed updates on the band, info on how to purchase tapes, and free (yes, FREE) stuff in the mail. Were working on a Christmas package, so whoevers on the list, keep your eyes open : ) Second...were looking for more college radio stations to give our tapes to. So, please email me if you work at one, so we could send you a tape (email me directly at "davenaked@juno.com"). Last night I had the oppurtunity to go see the cramps. OH MY GOD. this was by far the best show I have seen in years. Lux was in rare form the entire evening. the noise levels were just simply outrageous( I am now, 24 hours later still quite deaf) the opening bands were pretty cool-the demolition dollrods played first, wearing nothing except bananas taped to thier tits and fluffy playboy bottoms, which were removed sometime after the first couple of songs. this was o.k., because they are 2/3 girls, and the guy had his guitar strapped on real low. Guitar Wolf was an awesome foobilly band (Japanese Rockabilly) that spoke little english. thyen, bring on THE CRAMPS. Lux came out wearing a leapord print skin tight bodysuit and some funky hologram glasses. Ivy was wearing a gold bodysuit that made her look naked in the red stage lights. they went into "garbage man" and the crowd went absolutley nuts. berserk. they lost all control. they played alot from the new album and then did a few old ones. life was good. then they cameout and did "The Bird" and Wighat. it was a great show. if any of you get a chance to see them, do yourself that favor. I was going through the discography and discovered that I have one of the "rare" second pressings with "Unholy Passion" at the end of it. This apparently was a pressing error and there aren't too many of them out there. I asked Mark about this because he knows of only six of them. We decided to try and get everyone to check their cds and get a rough idea of how many there really are. The second pressing is extremely rare - apparently Caroline planned to re-press the CD without the remixed UNHOLY PASSION EP, but accidentally included the track "Unholy Passion." The third pressing corrected this mistake and only includes tracks from the original INITIUM album. All three versions use a similar insert booklet, which includes pictures that are not available on other formats. The first pressing booklet has a dull (as opposed to glossy) cover and lacks the "printed in Canada" insignia on the last page. All three also incorrectly treat "Initium" and "Samhain" as a single track (track 1). Thats the little blurb from the Discography page so get crackin and drop me a line if you've got it. sleepy@eagnet.com come back and bite my face... WILL G. OK, time to clear up the Crimson Ghost crap, this is out of the 6th Edition Halliwell's Film and Video Guide, its a huge hardcover $47(got it at a garage sale) book. Crimson Ghost entry- US 1946 bw serial; 12eps Professor Chan=mbers invents a counteratomic device called the Cyclotrode; a criminologist prevents The Crimson Ghost from getting his hands on it. Typical serial of its time, with a deathshead-style villian. Charles Quigley, Linda Stirling, Clayton Moore(later the Lone Ranger, here as a villian), I. Stanford Jolley. Directed by William Witney and Fred Brannon; for Republic. Actually if I remember correctly, the Crimson Ghost was one of the older professors of that college. Clayton Moore I think probably played the character Deadwood Dick who worked for the Crimson Ghost. I actually had one guy tell me (at the Halloween show) that "it was the first time [he'd] seen the Misfits _since he was 6_."(!!!!) Right! Think about it -- how many times have you gone to a show, and saw 10 year olds, much less first-graders? Why the need to lie? Yeah, some people probably, by sheer chance and older siblings, heard the band when they were really young. But the vast majority of people saying this kind of thing are probably lying. Maybe you should only be able to get it by sending in proofs or purchase from Count Chokula or somethings. -Eddie PS the whole idea of Misfits being "the Kiss of punk" is starting to ring more true ever day. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 07 Nov 1997 15:09:29 -0500 From: John Chassin Subject: skulls Is it just me or is there a Green Day song that sounds very much like "Skulls". NONE OF THESE SUBJECT OF MUCH RELATION (EXCEPT THE CROW IS SORT OF A "GOTH" STORY) AND NONE HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE MISFITS!!?!! DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT THE TRUE DEFINITION OF GOTH IS????? IT MEANS GERMAN...THE VISSIGOTHS WERE GERMANIC BARBARIANS THAT HELPED CONQUER THE ROMAN EMPIRE IN THE 5TH CENTURY A.D.. THEY WERE ALSO THE FIRST GERMANIC PEOPLE TO BECOME CHRISTIANS!!!!! THE MOST FAMOUS GOTHIC ART ARE CATHOLIC CATHEDRALS SUCH AS NOTRE DAME IN SPAIN. GOTHIC STORIES WERE ABOUT THESE MIDDLE AGE TIMES AND THE BARBARIANS SO THEY WERE USUALLY VERY "DARK" AND "SAD". THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DEVIL. COULD YOU PICTURE EDGAR ALLEN POE DRESSED UP LIKE MR. ROGERS>>??? PROBALLY NOT. AND THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ANYONE SAYING HE WORSHIPED THE DEVIL(EVEN THOUGH HE IS CONSIDERED A GOTHIC WRITER)..THEN WHY IS IT WHEN FANS (OR GOTHS) OF GOTHIC ART, LITERATURE, HISTORY AND ARCHITECTURE ARE THOUGHT OF AS SATANIST WHEN THEY DRESS IN BLACK.???? YES I GUESS YOU COULD SAY IT IS A STYLE..TRY AND BE MORE OPEN MINDED AND KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THE NEXT TIME YOU DECIDE TO BITCH ABOUT SOMETHING OTHERS MAY HOLD DEAR TO THEM. DR. First of all, just about every issue somebody has a long post about how immature people on the bible are and that all the flaming and shit should stop. But nobody stops because there are some stupid people that write dumb shit and theyre not going to stop anytime soon so youre just wasting space complaining. Case in point John Chassin, I dont wanna any flames or anything but if you hate the new Misfits so much and youre such a fucking Metallica groupie then why dont you just shut up because nobody cares that you think Metallica are the greatest band on Earth. I think Metallica sucks and I love the Misfits but I dont go wasting all my time bitching about pointless shit. You're post was completely pointless I could fucking care less that you wanna fuck James Hetfield I dont think anybody else on here cares either. Fine, you like Mettalica you dont like the new Misfits, keep it to your fucking self. This isnt just directed at John Chassin there are other people that post bullshit too. Its cool if you talk about other bands when its related to the band were all here to talk about, but when your just wasting space it gets annoying. And I guess Im contributing to the half of the list thats directed at you I guess you should feel special now that a lot of people think your stupid. Anyway about Red Tyde they sound pretty fucking cool, any band that is going to do a punk version of the Spice Girls is worth checking out. I gotta hear that. This is my take on the situation. I think on the one hand this person was right because to an extent horror is very much about just what the likes of Glenn and I when I was a kid went through. At least good horror is--the tale of someone who is never going to be accepted by the mainstream because they are somehow different and therefore to be shunned. When they make efforts to be accepted they are greeted with revulsion manifesting in many ways, ranging from laughter and mockery (being called "crazy", "loser", "freak", "geek")to outright disgust and condescension (when that beautiful cheerleader grimaces and tells you to get lost after you ask her out to the prom, and is seen on the captain of the football team's arm at the prom because he's handsome and athletic and you're not). The classic Universal horror movies exemplify the tale of the outsider trying and failing to fit in--"Frankenstein", "The Wolfman", "The Creature From The Black Lagoon", among others are perfect examples of this point. The likes of us latch onto this in a way that all the popular kids at school never will because they'll never understand what it's like to be lonely, to be laughed at and mocked and beaten up because they're different. To them it's just a way to spend Saturday afternoon; laughing at some guy in bad makeup because to them it's high comedy. They will NEVER grasp just how much horror means to the likes of us or Glenn Danzig because it is beyond them and their limited understanding of people. This is just my opinion here. On the other hand, it's something of a blanket judgement to make that all high school geek types turn to horror. Most of the geeky types I knew in high school turned out to be some of the most brilliant computer geniuses I've ever seen! And they couldn't care less about horror--SF, however is another story with them, as they are devoted "Trek" and "Babylon 5" fans to a man/woman. Anyway, my point is while whoever this person was had a point, it could have been made in a somewhat more detailed and intelligent fashion as opposed to coming off as though they knew everything about what they were saying. Sorry for this long post, Mark, but it had to be said. And nothing personal against whoever that person was, I just wanted to rebut their point in my own inimitable way. Catch you later all! --CHRIS
