The reason, he said, is to please the fans. "I'm not interested in money, and, honestly, I'm not really interested in recording decent songs," said Only. And I quote Jerry by saying, "We went to his motel room after a Danzig show to ask Glenn if he wanted to join the band, 15 minutes later we were escorted out my hotel security. We took that as a ' NO' ". So as far as I can tell, Glenn missed out on his chance, so stop acting like they chose not to include him. True, I like the old Misfits as much as anyone, but I think Michale does a damn good job singing songs that were written before he was even a twinkle in his mother's eye. Even if the Misfits do have to break up, I consider my self fortunate. Fortunate that I got see them 3 different times, two of the times having my picture taken and hanging out with them, if even for only a few minutes. I'm not sure exactly who wrote that originally, so I'll just leave this question hanging in the air. H2O and SOIA are by no means punk bands. They're hardcore, they promote THEMSELVES as hardcore (They're pretty shoddy, too.). Whoever labeled them as punk, is most likely somebody who "discovered" punk through means of MTV and other such bullshit. H2O and SOIA are just minor rock'n'roll luminaries. They've got their guarantees, they're little tour promoters, their big record label backings, and all this other garbage. Any decent PUNK band, however, you will find, playing in a freinds basement for little more than some food & freindly conversation. So, my freind, you've been duped into buying crap that MTV feeds you, that watching Bille Joe strip down on a stage in front of 30,000 people is what punk is about. And watching the Misfits sure isn't going to help that complex of yours, because, let's face it. Joey, Johnny, Marky, Dee Dee, Tommy, and CJ were there to sign. It was really cool. Jerry was there hanging out, devil lock and all. I spoke to him about his recent shows and took pictures. I think he is one of the most down-to-Earth people in the music industry. I am always really impressed by the way he deals with his fans. In the You Axed For It section, there's a picture from the Crimson Ghost serial. I gave them my first and last name but they put: Mikei (from the internet) axed to see fotos from the 1946 Rebulic serial, THE CRIMSON GHOST. That's Joseph Forte under the mask, making his point on the arm of Kenne Duncan. The guy in the pin-striped suit is none other than the Lone Ranger himself, Clayton Moore. FM will be covering this (and a few other selected serials) in a special upcoming feature on those killer serials of the 1940's. Watch for it. There, there's your answer on who played the Crimson Ghost. Also notice they're doing a review on the movie. FM also axed me how to get a hold of the Misfits cuz they are doing an upcoming article that "they'd fit into nicely" I gave FM some contact information and told the Fiend Club so we'll see what happens. It's pretty good. The bands that I liked best off of it were Divisia, National Gaurd, and DYF. It also had a non-lp version of "Image is Everything" by Jughead's Revenge which I think just fucking rocked compared to the other version. Anyway, The three bands above just fucking rock, and I was wondering if anyone knew if they had any good lp's or CD's that were worth getting? Divisia is a really cool chick band (at least a female vocalist), and they are really good, ahrd rocking stuff. Not poppy, and she can actually scream good (a lot of chick singers can't). Pretty good stuff. National gaurd had one really good hardcore punk song, and another one that had some GI Joe intro, but the rest of it sucked compared to the first one. DYF is also really good, and my brother loves them, too. The Force were also on it, and they are on tour with AFI. They really rock. Pretty hardcore stuff. Really screamy vocals about half the time. Pretty good stuff. AFI were great. I also heard a track from a compilation tape of this chick band called something like the Vanbuilders or the Vanderbuilders or something, and they were really good. Does anyone know anything about them, or exactly what their name really is? He had some other friends of his in the car. The fog must have been really bad around that time cus they accidentally ran a stop sign and hit another vehicle heading in a different direction. My friend, the driver, died instantly in a collision that night. I am putting this letter out on the Misfits Bible cus he loved the Misfits. Besides skateboarding, that's one thing we shared in common. We could go on for hours talking about the Misfits and how much they had an influence on us "punks". He told me once that he almost had the complete collection of anything ever produced by the Misfits. Well not everything. Just almost all the albums on CD. All he needed to complete his collection was the Earth A.D. and Evilive ones. He was the type of person anyone could get along with whether you were smart, played sports, or didn't fit into your class. People liked him cus he was funny and if he had offended someone he would later apologize to that person. He was a true friend. I, as well as some of the other fiends of my school, will miss him and he will not be forgotten. Reading DougTheFiend's post really threw me over the edge. So naive. Ever since I started receiving the Bible (somewhere before issue #250) people have been slamming everything. It's the entire point of the Bible. To tell you the truth, no topic in the world (maybe 'The Simpsons') could have 400+ issues chock full of positive comments. Nobody would read that anyway, and if I were funnier I could think of a clever example to illustrate this point, but I'm not. I haven't been reading the Bible for the past 100 issues, but nothing has changed (except for maybe the pop band that's being trashed this week for their MTV top ten single). I really enjoyed Billy Vile's post because it illustrates my point exactly. This post wasn't aimed at DougTheFiend (o.k. technically it was) but I just find it funny that everything else has changed around here (the band [musically speaking], the people on the Bible and the internet itself) but the main thoughts found in almost every media grown, mindless 'punk-rocker' are EXACTLY the same, sometimes word-for-word. It's like stupid people are psychically linked in some stupid world run by their psychic leader, Diane Warwick. Truely intelligent people get around this. My main point is this [the internet] is a place to express your views and no matter how much you think it doesn't, the media influences the way you think, myself included. He had some other friends of his in the car. The fog must have been really bad around that time cus they accidentally ran a stop sign and hit another vehicle heading in a different direction. My friend, the driver, died instantly in a collision that night. I am putting this letter out on the Misfits Bible cus he loved the Misfits. Besides skateboarding, that's one thing we shared in common. We could go on for hours talking about the Misfits and how much they had an influence on us "punks". He told me once that he almost had the complete collection of anything ever produced by the Misfits. Well not everything. Just almost all the albums on CD. All he needed to complete his collection was the Earth A.D. and Evilive ones. He was the type of person anyone could get along with whether you were smart, played sports, or didn't fit into your class. People liked him cus he was funny and if he had offended someone he would later apologize to that person. He was a true friend. Here we go - ---- DANZIG UPDATE - by Daryl Searle Former Danzig guitarist John Christ has assembled a new Southern California band, Juice 13, in which he's playing lead axe. Joining Christ is drummer Randy Castillo. You may remember him from Ozzy Osbourne's No More Tears era, and from The Motels heyday. Also on vocals and rhythm guitar is Cheese Boy of Garden Grove. Remember him from T.S.O.L. or Pirates of Venus? And bass player Krys Barrato provides lots of pulp in the Juice with studio credits including Thomas Dolby and Guns N' Roses. Christ describes the assembly as a pure sex, drugs and rock and roll character while the vocals deliver an alternative edge. "We all come from different backgrounds," says Christ. "Cheese has the punk attitude with the whiskey voice. Randy's still the slamming powerhouse he's always been. Krys is solid, steady and holds us all together." What about Christ? NOTE : this record was put out with a paper sleeve . It is very difficult to find one that is even in outstanding condition . The insert is (94) . It is almost worthy of a classic score but it does have a slight bend mark on the right bottom --- very subtle . The record is ( 99 ) ! Absolutely gorgeous !" The last show for the American Psycho tour was great. I've seen the Misfits one other time, in Scranton, PA, a couple months ago, and they were better the second time. They played at The Source, a 18 and under haven-no smoking, no alcohol, video games all around. Nobody showed up with facepaint or devillocks, as opposed to Scranton, where lots o' people had skullfaces and devillocks. The bands showed up late due to a late flight, and the company who was running their sound took FOREVER to set up, so the show was 1 1/2 hrs late starting. The Pugilist opened, and they were good, but I didn't really get into them. Finally the Misfits came on. They had a great set overall. The Crimson Ghost came out with a candleabra(whatever that's called)and then he came back on, dragging Graves on stage with a chain. He slamed Graves onto the floor, and departed. Chud came out and got the crowd going, looking like a true horrorfreak. Chud and Graves both had on all the stitches and blood and stuff, with Chud having stiches all the way around his neck-cool. Graves took off the chains, and Jerry and Doyle came out to start "Dr. Phibes". They had some sound problems for the first couple songs, and after the first 5 or 6 songs Mike apologized,"We're real sorry about the sound problems, cuz' the guys we got doing our sound...SUCK!". The rest of the set went off real well. I got a kick out of Graves making the "devil" sign after "SOTD" and motioning for everyone else to do it, too.Graves did an excellent job singing, and so did CHUD and Jerry. Jerry, however was a little less excellent-when he was on, he sounded good, but he hit some off notes on about every song. I think it was because he wasn't miked well, and he had to really holler to be heard. (Something that cracked me up-those winks Jerry throws out to people in the crowd.)After the obligatory encore, Jerry thanked all of us for coming out to support the Misfits, and that since this was the last show of the tour, to keep on supporting the Misfits, and to come see them the next tour. All in all, a cool show. Also, I got a Misfits dog tag there. Every year Much has a show called Fromage. like this year it is Fromage 97, last year was fromage 96. Every year end they look back at the year and they play all the worst cheesiest most horrible videos in one show so everyone can get a good laugh. What video are they using in the background of the commercial for the Fromage 97 show? You guessed it...Dig Up Her Bones. Now, at first I thought, Oh shit, they all think the misfits suck and everyone is gonna laugh at them...then again, they sort of always had that campy Ed Wood Elvira/Vampira kind of appeal. And everyone always trashes those people. And people like that have always had a die hard dedicated following. So I thought, would I rather it be any other way? They recorded one of thier shows at Lupos Heartbreak Hotel in Providence, RI. The whole time they had guys on stage with cameras filming them. The live shots with Michale wearing his ripped skeleton shirt and makeup was the one that I was at. In the beginning of the show they played Halloween II and there was a movie screen showing clips of horror movies then at the end it showed the guys walk out of darkness and on to the screen. After that they played Dr. Phibes and the show began. I was standing next to where they leave after there done and right before there encore Jerry came over and gave me and my girlfriend a hug. It may sound queer but hey, hes a fucking Misfit. There show kicked ass. Im looking to see if anyone had recorded it because Im willing to pay whatever amount of money there is for it.
