Once that has been granted - as in the recorded version on AP - anyone can use the song as long as they pay the songwriter's royalties. Hey! CJFiend here again, and I just wanted to say thanks to all the fiends who've cleared up this issue of whether or not the Misfits are on Roadrunner--I BELIEVE YOU, THEY'RE NOT! Anyway, I wish them the best of luck whatever label they may end up on! Also, I have to admit, I have heard some things about Roadrunner not supporting bands very well (except their top selling act, Type O Negative), and my friend Steve (the head of Vibrations Of Doom internet music magazine: http://www.musikbahn.com/vod/ ) has experience dealing with them and has heard a few things about their support. So, it may not be such a good thing for the Misfits to be on that label, but then again they TOO could be a top selling act for Roadrunner. Anyway, enough about Roadrunner--just thought I'd share what I've heard through the grapevine :) Anyway, I do have one question about the Samhain box set--if anyone knows the answer to this, let me know. Is it gonna have the ORIGINAL Unholy Passion EP or the rerecorded version that was included in Final Descent? I think (personal opinion here) that it was kinda lame to take Damien's guitar tracks out of it for Final Descent, but I guess they had to, eh? Hopefully, I'll get to hear them--Damien's a pretty cool guitarist, ya know (November-Coming-Fire--two thumbs up!). Also, got a question: CJ FIENDS -- Hmmm...did I steal a name? Last issue I saw someone say that the true "fiends" should go ruin Glenn's shows.. Glenn's shows could only get ruined by lamers with this attitude being there, but it's those same lamers that ruin new Misfits shows as well, and pretty much any show. These people that go to shows with a political agenda or something as opposed to going to it as a musical show.. It's a band playing, not a rally. Glenn has withstood the test of time... if ya wanted to ruin Glenn ya should have done it around 10 years ago or so... The guy was fated to have a succesful and fulfilling music career. Desite these little sidetracked agendas ppl seem to have, Glenn has done a lot by simply accomplishing what HE has wanted to do. Set a goal.. and then do it. He gets an idea and carries it out and that is what I like about Glenn. He does it all for himself.. If ya dont like him or his music.. I doubt he cares what you think really.. Glenn enjoys his music I'm sure... Like any real musician, he is rewarded by the finished product and the realization of an idea or goal... how many ppl have that mindset these days? People say that Glenn just wants to make money blah blah.. sure! Imagine being rewarded monetarily for something you have created! That's a great thing to have happen... I'm happy when my band gets $100 for playing you know, just because I'm out there playing songs I made.. I'm sure Glenn would still sit around with that nice LesPaul of his if none of us bought Danzig albums... I dont know.. just doesnt make sense to me.. Ruin a musician's show.. way too political and not fun... go ruin a Barbara Streisand concert or something... someone that would give a flying fuck of a rat's ass... As it so happens, you never were in the Misfits, you never even >saw the real Misfits, and you don't even know any of the real Misfits. TO INZO: I am sorry, but that is bullshit -- to me. So. you're saying Bobby is only a fan of the old Fits? I am aware of Bobby being in the damn band and I never said that him not being in the new shit makes him less of a person. TO TAMMY: I never said that because he was no longer in the band that he didn't count. I'll tell you as I did Inzo, I only said he is no longer a member. I don't think he is any better or worse than anyone else here, but I do know that I have only heard him say bad things about the Misfits (in general). And that is where I get my opinion. Also, saying that I do not consider him a member any longer, is the same reason I do not acknowledge that a member makes posts. I also never said that I did or did not believe what he says, where did you come up with that? And I don't know exactly where I heard that you were in some way related to the Misfits, maybe I was mislead by a post, but at least we got that straightened out, huh? I actually took time to say that I had nothing against Bobby Steele or the Undead, in fact I like their music, yet 2 different people felt the need to take up for him. That's exactly my point . . . You guys get too caught up in other peoples opinions (ONLY OPINIONS). Why do you care what other people THINK? Would you be upset if someone said something about the way you dressed? Sorry I took up so much space . . . don't worry, my posts won't always look like Tammy's. And by the way Tammy, don't think I have against you either, it's only discussion, right? Victory would be ok for the mifits but to tell ya the truth I'd rather see them somewhere else. Victory is not the Misfits' kind of label, it is basically an sXe metalcore and harcore label, and wouldn't be able to handle the misfits' large-scale performances. Fangs, Tim ------------------------------ From: "David Pruitt" Subject: Anything and everything under a blood-red moon Date: Sat, 14 Mar 1998 19:15:08 PST hhmm...don't really know how to start this damn thing off, dont'cha' hate that? Anyway, I'm a relative newbie to the Misfits Bible, been reading it for a while but this is my first time sending anything to it. First thing's first: 1) No matter the lineup, no matter the cause, no matter who holds the rights to their songs, MISFITS kick all shit known to man. About a week ago I saw the MISFITS in Houston at the Abyss, Marky Ramone and The Intruders we're just a killer band, had alot of fun slamming to them! Next was H2O...all I can say is..."Hell yeah..." I've never been that close to to such intensity...of course, being pressed up against the barrier in front of the stage will definitely get you close...But hey, no complaints! Then the MISFITS came on, no description, no comments needed on my part, I was in bliss, plus I had a real cutie of a girl on my arm all night! Don't even know her name...damn... 2) Michale Graves has an unbelievable stage presence...the guy went nonstop for over two hours and was still jumping around when the concert was over, I don't think he actually needs to breathe oxygen...ya' think?? 3) All respects to Danzing, Bobby Steele, Franche' Coma, Manny, Mr. Jim, Robo, Joey Image, The Goog and the rest of the guys who've departed the band and been replaced, they made a legacy, this lineup is only trying to preserve that legacy. I have nothing against any past members of the band, so why should anyone else? Am I the only one confused about this...who knows. I've said my piece, there isn't ONE damn member of the 'FITS I dislike, they all kicked ass when it was their time. (Is this long or WHAT?!) 4) So hey, my e-mail addy is listed above this letter, feel free to get in touch with me, even if you're gonna debate my opinion, this IS something of a forum for the Feinds ain't it? 5) Now, am I gonna follow a trend and post my own band's web-sight addy? Of course! What'd you think, I was unique or somethin'? http://members.tripod.com/~Skastafari/index.html the name of the band is MisGuided Youth, so far I only know of one other band by that name, but I'm sure there are countless hundreds around the world....more power to 'em...it's a great name 'eh?! Wreaking havoc across the heartland of America, Sickboy P.S.: The more you complain, the longer God lets you live...so be patient, he ain't done with me yet. *G* Later Feinds... ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ From: WEARE777 Date: Sun, 15 Mar 1998 01:39:42 EST Subject: O.G BOOTLEG VIDEOS DEAR FIENDS iM LOOKING FOR OLD COPIES OF ANY OLD MISFIT VIDEOS I HAVE 8 VIDEOS WITH ROBO AND DOYLE (EARTH A.D) I WILL TRADE OR BUY VIDEOS WITH BOBBY, MR JIM,, FRANCHE, OR MANNY videos like these are prefered: GLENN IN FIEND MAKE UP STATIC AGE SESSION JUMPING OUT OF COFFINS RIPPING THROUGH PLAN-9 SCREEN I ALSO AM LOOKING FOR SAM HAIN VIDEOS AND ANY MISFIT OR SAM HAIN POSTERS THANK ALOT WEARE777@AOL.COM I ------------------------------ From: Eric1800 Date: Sun, 15 Mar 1998 02:39:06 EST Subject: Misfits Flags I still have some "Legacy of Brutality" Flags available. "let's all get together and ruin Glenn's shows and stuff" ? That's real adult. Why the hell would you want to do that? I think michael is talented, but he is nothing compared to Glenn. The Misfits never would have been anything without Glenn. That's a fact of life...deal with it and move on. Really though, I wish the Misfits would have never reformed because they will never match the quality or intensity of the original Misfits and I really feel like they are ruining the name. Same with Samhain...I hear people on here talking about how it would be cool. Think about folks, Samhain will never be like it was either, even with all the original members. They have progressed musically beyond that. Point in case: does Final Descent really sound like Samhain...no it sounds just like Danzig. (Should have been released as such.) As Far as Danzig, I'd like to see Glenn break it up and form a new band that touches his blues influences more strongly. Oh well, I'm sure that not many people here agree with me on this stuff, so in closing, I just want to tell the majority of people on here to grow up and deal with reality and fact, not dreams and rumors. ------------------------------ From: BleuJ Date: Sun, 15 Mar 1998 09:05:35 EST Subject: Dead Kings Rise/laser reading record players, and stuff COPIES OF DEAD KINGS RISE (1). I'm sorry but that's the only track I can trade, I don't have an extensive collection of bootlegs (mostly I'd like to collect ones of shows I've been to) , there are already a couple of guys who will make you tapes and they have a whole list of stuff in the collectors section on Misfits Central. (3) I can't and won't make trades of stuff you can buy in the store (I will get sued, that stuff is copyrighted) I could probably be sued for unauthorized reproduction just for making you guys a copy of DKR, but it is out of print now and I sympothise. A fiend in need is a fiend indeed. Some fiends e-mailed me about the laser reading record player. Sorry guys I don't know where to get one. The friend who first told me about it may hook me up with his girlfriend's mom's , but they want like $400 for it, so if you find one it ain't gonna be cheap, but I did meet a guy in upstate NY whose friend found one in the Salvation Army for $15. they probably didn't know what the hell it was and record players were way out of style when he got it. To that guy who is selling DUHB 7"s, are you a record store owner or distributer or bootlegger. No offense, it's just how does someone come up with 50 some odd copies of something that was distributed to record stations all over the country. To people selling vinyl on-line, unfortunately you need to be able to verify what you got, and more importantly where you got it. No offense guys, I'm just paranoid. Has anyone been to the place on 7 Willow st. for a show, I got tickets and I have an idea where it is but does the club have a name. It would be a lot easier to find.Is it easy to sneak in tape recorders, and does the band really care if people bootleg the shows for personal use and trade? Mike Graves was gettign pissed at the violence (I talke to the fits sound guy before they went on and he told me that how long they played and stuck around depened on how much bull shti went on during their set) By the time their set was over Mike seemed realy pised, So we went out back and got our shit singed and talked to the guys (exept mike he was tring to pass out in the Winny) I asked Jerry about RoadRunner and signing with them and he said that the Roadrunners people were there tonight, then i aksed him about the lack of Roadrunner vynil and he said well they will have to change that for us. I gotta go on the bus and get Doyle to sign my jacket (which has the crimson ghost realy big across the back) and saw something that really bugged me Jerry was all fucking groping on a couple girls which i swear counldn't be older than16, he like toucking them all over, it was fucked up doesn't he have a wife and teenage kids, man witnessing that was my biggest let down of the night later Feinds KEVIN NAD ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Mar 1998 22:14:49 -0500 (EST) From: richard lockney Subject: random misfits story Just a quick, funny, "cute", and Misfits-related story: Was home for a few days, and my dad and I go to talking about all things music...which turned to all things guitar (esp. the Ventures)...anyway, he started talking about Fleetwood Mac (uhhhlll...), and put this song on so I could hear some random guitar part. Simple, I'm close to what I need to get my next computer and now I found out that my car is not long for this earth. Word of warning don't own a Ford product. Yeah Yeah, I know shit happens. But I know I have some amazing record on that list on Misfits Central that one of you are dying to buy off me. Damn, I see we have another missunderstanding as usual. Vixen, the thread is based on being sick of listing to Glenn being flamed for the most stupid reason I have ever read in my life. As for Mike, he's a nice guy, but as for your coment that the band has a real singer now is total ignorance. How anyone can compare a guy with maybe 5 years of singing and (that is being very open minded) to a man with 24 if it is true that Bullet was predated Cough/Cool in the recording. I've never said that Mike was a bad singer, but he will need the time to develop his voice. Plus you would not even be listing to this band now if the first never happened. What's this true fiend crap? what actually makes a true fiend. Sounds to me like a crock of shit. Plus who are you to tell these other fiends to fuck off cause they don't share your twisted views? We are all hear for the same reason, and it will always boil down to the first band and the original songs. I would like to know who you are threatening to ruin a Danzig show, actually that makes you sound childish. Do you think Glenn would hear this or even give a shit. Or is this a threat to the fiends, to control their views of the new Misfits. You know, I have always thought that we were all equal as fiend, I never even began to believe that someone was better than me or I was better that someone else based on shit we have or who we have met. We are all hear for one reason and that will never change. So knock this shit off about true fiends, and the VS crap. Its a waist of time and space. RoadRunner is one of the shittiest labels, and i would absolutely vomit if the Misfits sign with them. They jump on the latest bandwagon (in the 80s they did thrash, early 90s was death metal, now they have "hardcore metal"), and when the trend is over they screw over the band completely....I interviewed a member of IMMOLATION and he said stuff like how RoadRunner told them when to have an album out (because at that time death metal was big) so they could get money and then screw them over...they once had brilliant bands including PESTILENCE, MERCYFUL FATE, ANNIHILATOR, MALEVOLENT CREATON, ect. but i would say that 95% of the bands on that label now S-U-C-K....anyway, the Misfits should sign to OSMOSE! To the mental midgets who were whining about ruining Danzig & Misfits shows...what difference will that make? Plenty; they may well not want to play your town again due to whatever mischief you may cause. Do you think these bands put in so much work writing songs, recording and rehearsing for tours only to put up with immature garbage like you are proposing? Get a clue, get a grip, get a life. This is what they do, for US, the fiends as well as to support their families/loved ones, and they deserve more respect than that. Again, get a clue, get a grip, get a life already! I would never do anything to disrupt either one of those bands' shows out of respect for fellow musicians ands artists. If I didn't like what I heard I'd leave and not patronise their concerts again or buy anything of theirs. Nuff sed there. What a bunch of sorry immature twits you are for even proposing that! I can't stand fights at shows either; both times I saw the 'Fits on th Resurrection Tour were marred by locals causing trouble and fighting and it really made me angry at their blatant lack of respect for both the Misfits and the others around them. A guy I was talking with said he broke up a few fights around him because he was so aggravated at that happening, and I think that should happen more often if possible. End of that subject... 2.) Earth Crisis are a bad heavy metal band masquerading as hardcore and are dour, humourless fanatics in my opinion who have perverted Ian MacKaye's original message of sticking to your guns and empowering yourself into being an individual into near-religious dogma. Not to mention they are vehemently anti-abortion and that does not get them brownie points in my book as does their stance on people who are not straightedge...not cool! I remember when hardcore was SSD, Bad Brains, Minour Threat...fast and furious with a meaning as well as pure unadulterated AGGRESSION and adrenaline instead of boring, pretentious heavy metal with sluggish power riffing designed to get people moshing--YAAWWWNNNN! It doesn't do anything for me, this new school HC, nothing against its fans, that's just my opinion. I don't intend to start trouble with this, so please calm down all of you... 3.)To the guy who was talking about KTC's singer, I believe it was former Yngwie Malmsteen vocalist Jeff Scott Soto who sang on that EP, but I may be wrong. That's just what I heard...I could be wrong also. And to Tammy; sorry to hear about your grandparent's passing away, I wish you nothing but the best of luck for the future. I lost my grandmother six years ago and felt as though I'd lost a mother and my best and closest friend as well...keep your chin up, I and the other fiends are here for you, at least the ones who are not busy slagging every tiny aspect of the "Newfits". Greetings ladies and gentlefiends! My deepest apologies for this being so late, but I'm preparing to move and things have been quite hectic. Here's the setting, It's friday the 13th, and a full moon, and who would be playing in Oaklahoma City? That's right, The Misfits! And since I know of only one other bible fiend in OKC, I feel it is my duty to tell you about this most incredible show. This was my first chance to see Marky Ramone and the Intruders, and they ruled!! It was also the first time I saw H2O, and they were equally impressive, but on to the Misfits. They started with a pipe organ version of 'Dr. Phibes and out creeps the crimson ghost, carrying a torch, creeping around the stage. He leaves and out comes Dr. CHUD, dressed in a bloody surgical scrub top. He mounts his drum kit and Doyle's guitar chimes in. The crimson ghost appears again with the chains, dragging Michael Graves in a straight jacket onto the stage. They launch into american psycho and thusly the show begins. I know that's the standard opening for their show but I had never seen it before. The rest of the show was equally excellent, they played a decently long set. Markey Ramone came out and CHUD sang Blitzcrieg Bop(sorry for the misspelling). And then they played about eight or nine requests. But what I thought was especially cool was that during the last song they played(Die Die) they had some woman come out onstage. I assume it was Michael's girlfriend, but I really don't know. But I digress, what was cool about her was that half her face was done up in skull makeup a la the Die Die cover; too fucking cool!! The only thing I thought was kind of lame was that I was the only fiend there with a devilock! Now I haven't been living in OKC very long, so I'm not sure exactly how lame this place is, but friday night sure gave me a bit of a clue. I was mistaken for Michael Graves three times. Now I know he and I have a similar haircut, but I have some pretty extensive tattoo work on both arms that Michael does not have. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not an asshole to these people, I think it's kind of complementary, but annoying at the same time. I just wish they would look a little closer at me before asking me for Michael's autograph. Anyway, no biggie, despite the minor annoyances, that was the best friday the 13th I ever had, and I thought I'd share it with all of you. Sorry about the long post. Stay Fiendish! So who thinks this X-Men movie is going to actually have some good acting and good special effects, and who thinks it's gonna be a lame, cheesy movie like that Generation-X TV movie? That was pretty bad, even in comic-book-to-movie standards. Hats off to Jeff for saying the Misfits should be on Fat Wreck Chords (Lagwagon kix ass) or Epitaph (Bad Religion, Down By Law, Agnostic Front, WOOHOO!). Those are two of my favorite labels...along with WaxTrax. To Cristina: You wrote "You guys get too caught up in other peoples opinions (ONLY OPINIONS). Why do you care what other people THINK?" A big part of a person's opinions is their opinion to disagree with another person's opinion. Freedom of speech is being able to speak your mind, including being able to disagree with people. Some of you probably think this arguing is annoying, but I think it presents multiple sides and keeps things interesting. To that guy looking for a Kryst CD: Unless you're into that hair band '80s metal crap, don't bother cuz that's what they sound like. (this is how all those kick ass Kozic and COOP posters got started,no shit.)which would be sweet as fuck if not for a few minor factors. #1. in order to get into pretty much ANY club, you have to be wearind an armband or a badge furnished by southbv southwest at the low price of $100-$300 (100 being the armband, which you might as well wear as a cockring for all the good it will do ya, 300 being the platnum badge that will get you a blowjob from the mayors wife, if you're nice enough and a few variations inbetween) here's the kicker, tho'. you still gotta pay cover charges (10-20 bucks) and drink prices are fuckin' unbeleivable. (5 bucks for a PABST!?!) Don't let this happen to your town. this is just another way the fucked up music industry gets it's hooks onto bands like White Zombie, Ministry< and yes, the artist formerly known as Prince. How so? Record rep watches show. rep sets up interview. Band (who is hungry, cause a slice of pizza goes for around 4 bucks)says o.k. rep comes up with contract (i.e. five records, five years, we own the rights,18-20 grand down plus 20% profit on all sales, 100% tour cash) Band (now seeing beer and pizza )says fuck yeah. no one ever stops to think how much profit is made from a c.d. lets say 10.00 c.d. bought wholesale 8 bucks, 4,00 printing and disc,50 cents to ship, another 50. for packaging and a buck for shit we don't know about. that's a grand total of .40 cents for each record sold. the result, band blows cash, hoping for big ass checks, ending up with about 2 grand at a time., and shit gets rough. so what now? band tours. and tours. and tours some more. not realizing that the cost of touring is almost equal to the amount of money made. (unless you're already big, but we all know how that shit goes. ) band basically gets squat for all the time and money spent. point? support labels that are worth a damn and treat thier bands with a little dignity. and don't let the record exec's take your town oer for weeks at a time. I have a friend in a local band that does about a grand every time they play. which would be nice if they didn't have to pay thier old record label back for breach of contract. Swore never to go back. No, I'm not homophobic, I just don't enjoy full grown men telling me (I think I was 13 at the time) that I have a nice butt. Especially in a VERY feminine voice using the words "tooshie-wooshie"! It will scare even the bravest of men :) Yes, the Crimson Ghost serial was very stupid, but that's what makes it great. It was supposed to be scary(and in the 40's I'm sure it was) but now it's nice to look at a cool mask for an hour and a half and laugh at the stupidity. Plus, I have it in color (oooooooohh aaaaaaaaahh) Misfits on Hellcat? Don't see that. I mean, Hellcat's cool and all(Dropkick Murphys, Swingin Utters, The Business, The Glowsulls, The Gadjits, etc) but I just don't see how the Misfits would fit in. Ok, so the US Bombs are on there, but that's about the only band that I can think of on there that has much in common with the 'Fits. But, hey, if they'd take care of them, more power to Tim and the rest at Hellcat. WEll this is getting long and has been stupid from the begining. Later Michael (please no more "MICHEAL"s! Peoria. Land of nothing as far as I could tell. We drove sex hours to see the show on the 15th. Not sure if we'd get there on time we left early. Too early. We found a deserted club at 3 in the afternoon and nothing nearby to do. After killing time at Taco Bell, we ventured back to the club and decided to go exploring again. This time we were extremely lucky to see a tour bus with NJ liscense plates in the back ally. After waiting about 15 min. with only 6 other die-hard fans, Jerry emerged in a NY Giants jacket and sweatpants. I hardly noticed him at fist, without the makeup and devillock and all, but soon I had him signing everything in sight. He Really is as nice as everyone says. Unfortunately, the rest of the band was asleep at the time. The show rocked (I didn't like Marky Ramone and the Intruders, but it was cool to see Marky and his infamous Ramone-like qualities). H20 was great though I don't really get into their style of punk. Needless to say, the Misfits were all I could have hoped for. I still can't hear out of my left ear (Wanted to be as close to Jerry as possible... and I was) After the show, we waited in the ally to see if we could meet the other guys. After a while, Marky Ramone came out and signed a dollar bill for me before jumping in the van and taking off. He waved like a Ramone. Right when we were ready to give up (and freezing to death) Graves stepped out of the bus. He was dressed in sweats and had smeared make-up. He was really very nice and said he would have come out sooner if he'd known that we were waiting in the cold. He now has a place in my heart right next to Glenn. We took pictures and talked for a minute in which he said that they weren't sure what they were doing this summer but it probably included Festivals in Europe and possibly large scale US tours (Ozzfest or Lallapolooza). He also mentioned that he hoped to get a new album out in that time period. We asked to see Doyle and soon after, he came out too. If I didn't know he was shy I'd have been insulted. We got pictures taken and autographs anyway. When we asked if Chud was around Doyle said "Chud's out fuckin some bitch" Now THAT is rock n' roll! This story just goes to show that not only are the Misfits really cool, but they are real people as well. Anyone who saw the show knows exactly what I mean. How many people can say they've met their favorite band besides a Misfits fan? I couldn't believe how easy it was. Subject: Bible fiend sick to shit with the crap... Hello fiends... first off this will be short since I have not had any sleep in over 24 hours. Insomnia at its best. I have to say there were some great posts on Monday's bible. It seems that there are a lot of fiends that feel the same way I do, just sick of the childish bullshit. And it is true, you will probably never see the likes of Glenn, or even Jerry post or deal with us when most of the time the list is full of fights and just plain stupid shit. Cristina Wheeler - as for Bobby, you have to understand the stuff you hear him talk about is not about all the Misfits, its mostly geared to Jerry and the fact that Bobby still has not been paid the money owed him. Any human in those set of circumstances would rightly be pissed. As for believing in what he says, I realize I went a little to far, I guess I'm so used to hearing fiends or should I say fools call him a liar. I have heard so much shit about Bobby over the years and it was not till two+ years ago when I actually took the time to talk to the man and get to know him that I realized he was truely a good person. He's one of the few people I know that do what they say they are going to do, and will do kind things that you would never even ask for. His Father is the same way. I think this also answers your question on why I do talk up for Bobby. I guess its just the fact that I give a shit, more so when the points made about him are such crap. I have always been this way, I hate to hear shit talk about people I know well or have some for of friendship with. I just rubs me the wrong way. As for myself, I don't give a shit what anyone thinks. Some of you know what I have deal with over the past year now, and tell me I should take out my anger more often, though I find know need for that. You will only see that when I really have a reason to be pissed on the bible. With me being related to the Misfits, well that one I don't know, My parents were both from Brooklyn NY. Though My Father did work in NJ during the early to late 1950's. Though I doubt there are any family things. ;) I don't see this as being against me, I like constructive talk, makes for interesting bible reading and posts. Plus, you will know when I get pissed. Which again, some of the fiends have seen me rip into other fiends who take shots at me. Yannis - not to be mean, but Dalton is not of base with the price for the DOA Hardcore 81, he's only about $5 off the price range on that piece. its usually $65 - 85. Once in a while you luck out, when I got the first 12" for DOA for $16. Mint condition in an auction. Though Vinyl Vendors stopped doing auctions years ago. Even the Black Flag piece i have seems high, but it has never been played and it was a give away at the Licorice Pizza Record store. The press range is said to be 500-700, though I'm hearing 500 was it in these last couple years. well that is it for me, I need sleep, I could not be more depressed watching the Panthers loose being that I saw this one live, and my knee cap feels like it got hit with a puck. Though I got hit by the seat in front of me when I jumped up for the first goal they scored 1 1/2 minutes into the game. again check out the record list on Misfits Central in the news section. Marky Ramone and Orange 9mm opened, not too bad but nothing compared the 'Fits. The show was great as usual (second time I've seen them). They did a lot of stuff from the "American Psycho" release then did some older stuff like "Come Back," "Return of the Fly," "Some Kinda Hate," "Last Caress" and a ton of others. In addition to those kick ass songs, Jerry brought some dude up on stage from the crowd to sing "Blitzkrieg Bop" with them. It was great. Also, at the t-shirt booth, they were selling a limited edition poster of the show. Only 60 were made and they went fast. Overall I have to say the show was really great, the band sounded great even though Michale had a cold and near the end of the show his voice was going out. It was a great show and I can't wait until the Misfits come around again. A fiend for life. Peace out. Date: Wed, 18 Mar 1998 08:40:10 PST Correct me if I'm wrong, Undead138, but isn't Osmose that French lable that specialises in those silly new jack Black Metal bands? I think the Misfits would be well out of place in that context unless Jerry and Doyle start carving inverted crosses into their chests and invoking Satan onstage--no, wait, Deicide have been known to do that and these bands think that they're commercial! Go fig...just kidding with that last part, no offence meant! I really think the Misfits ought to go with a label if not their own that will serve their best interests on all levels and I'm not sure Osmose may be the best deal for them. A label like Fat or even Epitaph is more up their alley I think, as those two labels know punk inside out and are familiar with the Misfits, more so than anyone at Geffen ever was, I would think. Just a couple of thoughts there. And MadCow--what's this about the Misfits having such a huge Nazi fan following?! This is the first I've heard of that! Scary thought, too...wonder what Jerry and Doyle would say if they knew that? I would be unhappy if I knew that and would try to do something about it if I were in their position. Again, just a thought... Corey fiend@antisocial.com ------------------------------ From: Hollowfang Date: Wed, 18 Mar 1998 14:36:40 EST Subject: Misfits Label - Signing Bands - SXSW Hey Fiends, As far as a label for the 'Fits, they have enough of a loyal underground following to find a distributor and release stuff on thier own label. They don't get major radio or video airplay anyway, so they don't need a radio person and they could hire a publicity person to set up interviews. It wouldn't be that hard to get people to write about them. They are a band that makes money on the road through shows and merchandise, so although tour support is nice, they probably don't really need it. They would make far more money and have way more freedom to release what they want when they want. To: Elizabeth Hartsfield I think you miscalculated a little in terms of what a major label pays to press CDs. They press at such volume that it costs less than $1.00 per disc (including artwork). The label in turn sells it to the stores at about $8.00 - $9.75. The store marks it up to about $16.00 - $17.00. Usually a standard deal allows for the band to get about $1.25 per disc. In other words nothing. I also think you are being a little hard on label people as well. I would agree when someone says most of them are skumbags, but there are a lot of lazy bands out there too, who after they get signed to a label think that the label should "do everything" and "babysit" them. And remember for every band that dosen't sign to a label for reasons of "integrity" there's literally thousands to take their place. A label "loans" bands money and often the band has very little choice in how their money gets spent. Even though they got an advance, that usually brings them back to square one in terms of all the money they spent out of thier pockets to keep the band running up to that point. Bands should learn to ask for more control in deciding how thier money is spent at a label when they sign. Unfortunately the modern music business is just that - a business and as soon as more bands realize that, they'll be better off. I was in Austin once and the coolest thing was the millions of bats that live under the bridge in the summer and flock out at night. A must see for any Fiend (although I'm sure it's old hat to you! :-) . I went into a local campus recordshop, and was poking around. I saw, among all the crappy patches (For No Doubt, Bosstones, Bush, blah blah) a rather lonely Crimson Ghost patch! I was quite happy, to say the least. I asked the girl manning the counter (Who was wearing a pink vinyl hat. I should've seen this coming.) if I could get the "Crimson Ghost patch." She had no clue what I was talking about. After 2 minutes of trying to explain to her what I was talking about in relation to the other patches ("Uhhh, it's underneath the Grateful Dead skull with the pot leaf...no no no, to the right, no...) she finally found it, and proceeded to stare at it for a minute. Maybe I'll pick one up if I can find it. Chris Alphawolf person-With ya on Earth Crisis. Although they have some good songs, their fans and their message are to a large part really violent and overbearing. There is hope though, some great old/new school bands are still around, like madball, skarhead, H2O, Sick of it all, etc. Yeah, I couldn't really see the misfits on fat. Epitaph would be okay except that although there are some good bands on it, it is mostly a label for pussy sellout punk like the offspring, etc. The best choice seems to be Hellcat, not only because of the cool bands that are on it but because they seem to take care of their bands. Wherever they end up, it'll be alright. Which leads me to my next point which is that if you don't like the new misfits or Danzig, the best thing you can do is not buy their shit and not go to their shows. But don't ruin it for anyone who does like them. Yeah, yeah, the punk icons of the past have all disapointed us. Chumbawumba just sucks. Jello Biafra hangs out with the offspring. The Exploited are as good as dead. Sometimes it just makes you wonder if the stuff you're so involved in doesn't really matter after all. Is punk dead? Anyways I caught part of Orange 9mm, and they were decent except they ended with Pig's in Zen by Janes Addiction! I've heard this song by a million lame cover bands all my life and was dissapointed Orange 9mm didn't end on a good song of their own instead of a lame cover song thats been beat in the ground for the past 10 yrs. The Misfits were good I thought the graffitti was a cool place for the show even though Jerry said he'd rather play the Metropol. But the Misfits didn't let me down except they played too much newer stuff and it was like in blocks of 4 or 5 songs so that kinda gave me time to rest before the better songs came along. At the end of the show I got my Dwarves shirt on the Skull and crossboners on the back of my shirt. I asked Jerry if he liked the Dwarves he sai yeah, I asked Chud he said he heard of them but never heard em, I said they play naked and he was like "yeah, cool" Oh well thats it maybe if I get motivated enough one day I'll wite again By the way my band's website is http://www.angelfire.com/oh/chaperones We are called the chaperones and we are punk/rockabilly-ish so check it out..... I just had my Hunger for the MISFITS temporarily satisfied last night at Graffitti!!! It was great, just as I knew it would be. Well, I should start from the beginning... Eight of us (Me , Andy , Sam , Andy , Zak , Marty, & Frank)piled into two cars, and scared the hell out of the people in AMES in Murrysville when two of us went to buy fun-saver one time use cameras. Then, we went to Oakland, & ate at the "O", and some old guy behind the counter saw six of us in MISFITS shirts (Me in my home-made one!), one Type O Negaitve shirt and one Franklin Regional Panthers shirt, and said "What's this? We got a bunch o' misfits over here!" and then laughed at himself obvioulsy amused. I still don't get it. We met my girlfriend Heather there to eat, & then we all walked her back home to her dorm (She likes Garth Brooks not the MISFITS so we couldn't convince her to go with us) when we were done. So then, we all walked, walked, walked, walked, & walked over to Graffitti. We bought a bunch of shit (I got 2 arm Bands & a T-shirt with the band lookin' all scary on it). We were lookin' for other bible fiends, and we found DOUG EVIL's sister, she was lookin' for him too, but before the show, we never got to him. I did meet Brad and Danzigl38 though. By the way, don't wear chains into Graffitti. Okay, so then Marky & The Intruders come on, we were down on the floor up by the guitar player. It was kinda crowded. This big (make that BIG) security guy with a hat on that said "BEAST" was standin' there with his arm crossed, I was scared. The Intruders were good. They reminded me of this band that I saw open for Weird Al this summer at the I.C. Light ampitheatre. Some local guys that kick ass, the name escapes me. The whole time we were just kind've standing there waiting for the 'Fits and debating wether or not Marky was wearing a wig. I say yes, he was. They closed with "I Wanna Be Sedated" and everyone went nucking futs. It was weird, but good. So then, we're waiting for Orange 9mm and this kid (about 22 or 23) asks sam if he ever got laid, & all kinds of weird shit. Then, (this is just great) he ask him if he wants to see his scrotum. Yes, re-read that line 'cuz you read it right the first time. So Sam, assuming the guy was joking, said yeah. So, this guy pulls out his nuts (I didn't look) and shows 'em to Sam, while exclaiming "Yeah, I shave 'em!". I couldn't take it. I was laughing so hard I almost passed out. Then the kid was showing his nuts to some girls, then his friend joined in, then I think they pulled out their pekers for a select few, but I'm not sure. I didn't know wether to laugh it off or be scared. Hell, he wasn't bothering me, as long as he didn't whip anything out in my line of sight. Then, Orange 9mm comes on. They're somewhere in between Rage Against The Machine and Korn. Weird huh? They rocked. The singer just looked plain old pissed when they started. I also noticed it was getting a little more crowded. People started slam dancing or moshing or whatever ya wanna call it. It was really light though. There was some dick jock in a grey sweatshirt that was drunk beyond belief that was just plain beating on people trying to mosh & yelling "You guys suck!". Some big dude took his ass out. Well, Orange 9mm finished with a Jane's Addiction cover tune that I didn't recognize, but I was impressed. I might go buy some of their shit. Well by then, the guy that was showing off his nuts was ranting & raving that Orange 9mm sucked 'cuz the singer was black. What an ass. He was like "You liked him? But the dude was black." But, I don't pick fights 'cause I'm short, weak, & a wuss (ha ha ha), so I just ignored him. It took forever for the MISFITS to start. But the Crimson Ghost came out & did the whole fire & dragging Graves thing. Ad they played "Dr. Phibes". They were ghoulishly spectacular! The crowd was transformed into a tidle wave at the first "Woah-oh" out of the MISFITS' mouths. It was great. I eventually got up front and was snapping pictures like a madman. The BEAST never made a move so I guess it was okay. They didn't play "Attitude" or "This Island Earth", I was a tad disappointed, but they did, however, grace our ears with "Hell Night" and a whole slew of the best. They blend the old and new seamlessly proving that no matter what decade, it's all MISFITS. Something was up with Graves' mic though, it had some kind of echo or reverb or delay effect that was driving me nuts. Maybe it was just the noise of the crowd singing along (mostly all out of key) in the background. You just have to love that though. We all saw little Eddie up on stage with the heavy macinery operator ear-muffs, crying (Hey, I'd be scared if Michale Graves picked me up too!) but I'm sure you'll hear about that from his mother. They played "Blitzkreig Bop" but Marky Ramone left so they had 2 fiends from the crowd on the mic. Cool, huh? Andy was pinned up against the BEAST for most of the show, and he turned out to be a cool guy. He was all into the 'fits n'at. After the show, Jerry & Chud stuck around to sign just about anything that was offered to them. They both tagged my home-made t-shirt, and let all eight of us plus several others take pictures. The cool thing is that they're like "Yeah, sure!" with no hesitation. They love it! Michale was sick I think, & Doyle as always was proably just shy & worn out. Chud felt up this girl that posed for a picture with him. His hand was just like "bam!" right there. Ya had to laugh. And afterward I finally caught up with DOUG EVIL. He hooked me & my pals with free copies of SQUIRT and seems to me to be a nice guy with good intentions as far as SQUIRT and the BLEEDER'S DIE-GEST go. IF you're readin' this, thanx Doug! After the show we all had to piss really bad 'cuz no one wanted to leave during the whole deal. Then we get outside, and run into the nutsack flasher twins. They were asking us for a ride in exchange for a six pack. Who in their right mind would give these two a ride? Besides, we were full passenger wise. I told flasher #1 that the MISFITS motor-home was down the alley, & they could go get autographs from 'em. Then, as he threatened to hunt us down and hurt us if we were lying, we walked (quickly) to a Sunoco station for something cold & wet, then headed allllllll the way back to the parking garage. We then met Rob along the way when he asked us if there was anything cool to do in Oakland. Hey Rob, I liked the jacket man! <>< That's definately cool. Then, we finally had to go home 'cuz I had to be at work at 7:00am, and I live about 40 minutes from Pittsburgh and it was quickly nearing 1:00am. All in all it was just plain great. Jerry said (yes, I asked him directly) that he's "trying his damn hardest to put together his own label." and that they should be back, at Metropol in late Summer or September. I can't wait!!! I went to the Peoria, IL show, and what can I say? When the Misfits are already your favorite band, a spectacular live performance only serves to cement them in the number one position even further. This was only the second time I've seen them (the other in Kansas City, opening for Megadeth), and the first time they were headlining. What a better experience! Man, I was front center the whole time the 'fits played, and it was just awesome. I'd pay to see these guys every week. Too bad I always have to drive so fucking far to see them. I live in Des Moines, so the trip to Peoria was about 260 miles, but TOTALLY worth it. The venue was an old theatre, and I really liked the ambiance. It was in a state of disrepair, but it had a unique style. The only low point of the show for me were these two little cunts in the front row during H2O bitching people out for 'bumping' into them· Get a fucking grip, you little bitches· If you don't want to get bumped into, DON'T GO TO THE FRONT ROW OF A FUCKING PUNK CONCERT, RETARDS! That's what the seating in the back is for· people who don't want to experience the moshing up front. Jerry came down front at the end of the show and signed autographs and answered every one's questions. Some one did ask him what record label they were going to, and Jerry replied "We're trying to start our own label." This guy is a class act. I mean, every fan who's met him will tell you the same thing· he is so down to earth, and does not give you that 'I'm a star' attitude at all. He is totally friendly and approachable. There was this chick there next to me in the front row with a camera· you said you get the BIBLE, so email me so I can see your pictures. Also, I seen video cameras· I don't know if it was the band's equipment or not·. If someone has video of this show, I'm definitely in the market for a copy. Oh· by the way· if any of you were at this show, you may remember seeing me· I was the guy in the MISFITS shirt. Take it easy, fiends. P.S. Here's a big FUCK YOU to the Illinois State Patrol· Thanks for making my friends and me stand out in a fucking blizzard for 30 minutes while you search us and my car for 'any weapons or illegal drugs' Just because a car has a huge DANZIG skull across the rear window and maybe some WHITE ZOMBIE logos on the sides, doesn't mean the occupants are felons or drug addicts, you fuckin' PRICKS! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Mar 1998 20:56:40 -0500 From: DOYLE Subject: Who Killed Marilyn? The day after the show we went to Tom Savini's studio (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dawn of the Dead, eic) and he said that he wants to do their next video, which would be incredible. I didn't get to see much of the show itself, 'cause my son fell asleep about three songs into their set. Mike and Doyle wanted to take him onstage during one of their encores, so luckily he started to stir a little bit. I asked him if he wanted to go up and sing with Mike, and he said "yeah" so I took him up. He was pretty freaked out by being up there and cried until they brought him back to me. I had a camera with me but I was too worried about my son being upset to take any pictures (never trust a woman to do anything right!). As for labels...I think they should try to get on something like CMC international(Older established hard rock acts)...They need a label that will market them correctly....Probably would avoid small labels because it doesn't make good business sense if things start to get rolling....Easiest thing to do would be to start their own label and get a good major label distributor...but I doubt if they have the cash or the time to start that kind of business. There are all these stories of him messing around with these chicks that are like, his daughter's age??? The guy is married with kids, and alot of fans have been inspired to get their shit together by his honest and moral family man, "fatherly" disposition. The Misfits have been more than just music to a lot of people--the kids especially, and these people are really dissappointed in him. I for one, thought he was really and truly special, but now I see him for what he is. I mainly feel sorry for his kids. Jerry's probably having some mid-life crisis, and/or maybe he's just not strong enough to refuse the poison apple. I dunno... Maybe he doesn't realize just how influential he has been in some people's lives, but that kind of slutty and immature behavior means that the Misfits just aren't as special to me as they once were, when I believed they were all "good men". Now they're just like any other nasty punk band in that respect. The music will always be great and Jerry's always been awesome on stage and in interviews, blah blah blah, and I'm not denying him that, but as a man and especially as a father, he's a PIECE OF SHIT. ---Miss Kitty--- ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ From: MmanwitGun Date: Fri, 20 Mar 1998 19:10:40 EST Subject: 3-19-98 concert Hi all you American Psychos- At this concert Orange 9mm, Marky Ramone, and Hinge opened up. Every time I've seen the Misfits there have plenty of skins (racist and non) at the shows. Alot of the skins, I'm assuming the racists, kept screaming for them to play "Hatebreeders". They seem to identify with the title without knowing or caring about what the song is about. Another example, back in the mid-80's there was a skin band called Moonstomp here in Atlanta. They used to cover "White Riot" by the Clash, and the skins ate it up. Once again, not knowing or caring what the song is about. In case you're wondering, it's NOT a racist song, it's about how willing to follow directions and boring white people can be. Also, I am not racist, don't support the ideals, and could care less about any movement of the sort. Just an observation. Still recovering from the Misfits 3/21 at the Worcester Palladium. Amazing show (keeps getting better)...onyl problem was the security at the Palladium. At the end of the set, when Jerry and CHUD came out to sign things, security began booting people out, even forcibly pulling kids away from Jerry and CHUD. I luckily managed to get CHUD to sign my jacket, and asked him if they'd mind doing a brief interview. He was really cool about it, and told myself (along with the DungeonMaster and his friend Laura whom I met while waiting outside before the show+during soundcheck) to go wait by the Winnebago. After waiting 20-30 minutes or so, Jerry walked out, and despite the small crowd that had gathere/was pasisng by the Winnebago, managed to walk by almost unnoticed (he was wearing a big Giants jacket and hat), and DM told me (I was still making sure that it was him, or I was going to really make a fool of myself..just kinda froze up) take the chance to ask him. He was more than happy to do the interview, and what was originally planend to be a 15-20 min. interview became nearly 45 minutes, along with about 20min. of just hanging out in the Winnebago with the guys, their crew, and their fans. Jerry was signing everything put in front of him, signing a stack of records for DM, along with all of our jackets (now signed by all 4 members). He, along with CHUD, Doyle and Mike (who wanred us to drive safely, as it was snowing by then) were some of the nicest, most down-to-earth and genuine people whom I've ever met. My mind was constantly blanking during the interview, but Jerry was really helpful, and I was able to link the next question to something he had jsut said. DM also came up with some really good questions about the early days that I never would have thought of... I'll provide a transcription as soon as I have the time to do so, and will put it up somewhere (hopefully on M.C.). A couple things to note, tho: Jerry wants to start their own label, which would be exclusively for the Misfits, and will definitely issue vinyl. He also took time to thank Mark Kennedy for all of his time, work and effort put into putting both the Bible and M.C. together. I just wanna thank the DungeonMaster, Jerry, Doyle, CHUD, and Mike (happy b-day) for one hell of a night. PS- pics also on the way...(hopefully), and apologies for the long post. I came across a site on the Internet that said something about one of the ex-members going on to play in the band Strychnine. Does anyonme know anything about this band, or who from Filth played in this band? I know Jake went on to sing in Fields of Shit, but I also know nothing about them. If anyone knows anything about these two bands, please mail me at Chuck_Lambert@freenet.richland.oh.us with info. I will be sure to put you on the thanks list if you do help me out, and put a link to your homepage. Also, I haven't been able to find much bio on Filth at all, so if anyone knows anything about Filth other than what you learn from reading the Shit Split booklet, please mail me with info. If you have any articles about Filth, that would be helpful also. Last thing - I was hoping to find someone that owned Lookout #30? - Filth's "Live the Chaos" 7". I needed to get a track listing off of that. I tried the Lookout page, but nothing there. CJ FIENDS ------------------------------ From: "DUNGEONMASTER" Subject: What an awesome weekend..with the MISFITS Date: Mon, 23 Mar 1998 00:17:40 -0500 First of all...mega-thanks to all the people from the Bible who came up and said hello. Most of all, thanks to McKagan@geocities.com for everything. Thanks to that man and his two dorky accomplices, I got right in front of Doyle for the whole show in Providence. Scrappy-get a woman. Other guy-(sorry) Thanks a lot for securing my stuff during the show. Another round of big thanks goes out to rlockney@black.clarku.edu . This gracious guy provided the Dungeonmaster with a place to stay in Worcester and entertainment as well. Thanks guys! It was GREAT! Tell Jonas and the Wolfman hello! Ok,Next...there's no easy way to sum up the intensity of the shows in Providence and in Worcester this weekend. I had the incredible pleasure of attending both shows, and took over 200 pictures between the two shows. A select group of those shots will make it to my site soon..I hope. Ok, sum up the shows....Cool stuff in Providence: CHUD sang DEATH COMES RIPPING and the drummer from OR9MM took over drumming duties, Umm....the crowd ripped some copper tubing off an overhead a/c unit and Mike said "hey..hey..HEY!...PIPE!!!" and somebody ripped it down and Mike said something like "That's better". Shortly after midnight, Jerry announced that it was Mike's birthday and the crowd sang happy b-day. Jerry stuck around afterwards, as always, and signed stuff. It was a very intense show, and everyone else just retired to the bus. Also, I got to see soundcheck, and Jerry was isnging Death comes ripping and also I got a Right, and I noticed that John Grimm has hair now. Cool stuff in Worcester: A handful of girls from backstage and some in the audience sprayed Mike with silly string in celebration of his birthday, and then he dumped it all on Doyle. Doyle smiled, Jerry was psyched as hell. They played several requests, since it was the last show...and they brought out a cake with candles lit and had Mike blow them out while the crowd sang Happy Bday. It was really great. Plus, John Grimm still has hair. Afterwards, Rlockney and I got on the Winnebago to have a little chat with Jerry and get our stuff signed. I had a stack of vinyl the size of texas, and Jerry signed every last one of them. As for our chat with Jerry, I'm sure RLockney is going to give the details on that one. He is transcribing that and I'll post it on my site when he gets it to me. Plus, John Grimm has hair. Rich and I both give big thanks to Mark Kennedy...he is the man. Ok, long enough... This English Girl came up and started interupting our conversation. Jerry told us to hang on, said like 5 things to her and came back to us to talk. So I'm not sure about this little girly thing. I think he likes to talk to interesting people rather than chix with tits. BTW she was busting out. I woulda talked to her instead of Jerry...if I had the chance. 2...In London Canada, this chick said she wanted to go on the winnebago and fuck the Misfits. She tried to get on and Doyle grabbed her (violently) and threw her to the ground. They told her to fuck off. It was funny. She was bustin' out of her shirt too. Anyways, what's wrong with accoustic Misfits??? What because someone plays an accoustic guitar and not thrashing about, they suck??? How very close minded. I played at a coffee house and I did Skulls, We Bite, Astro Zombies and a few other songs accoustically. I also plan on doing some busking this summer, but only covering old punk songs. I figger not a lot of ppl out there do it, and punks will appreciate it. Maybe I'll be able to afford a Taco Bell dinner or something. Maybe Metallica's version sucked, but don't harp on it because it was accoustic, that's just pure idiocy. Once again however, the vocals were way too low. Most the vocals came from Jerry and the collective singing of the crowd. Still cool though. It was the heaviest Ive ever seen them so far. They didn't play any of the slower or upbeat stuff like "Come Back" or "Some Kinda Hate". It was pure aggression. "Die Die My Darling" has never sounded heavier or better. I would have liked to hear more stuff like "Angelfuck" though. We drove down from Canada. When I was buying my shirts and armbands (which look pretty millitant by the way) I was told that the Misfts would no longer be playing in my country because Michale was not allowed in the county and they always take shit at the border. Fuckin asshole government. Im gonna kill one of em. Anyways, to the guys we met in the pub before the show, you will be ammused to hear that "Dickman" from Canada took quite a few lumps in the pit and was really in pain the next day. Deservedly so. Everyone was cool and Providence seems like a cool city. I like any place where you can go and get a glass of beer in a pub for 2 bucks. Gorney concerning The Misfits Own Label: You know what they say, "you've got to spend money to make money", and somehow I don't see the Misfits hurting for money to put thier own releases together. The biggest problem I see is advertising bux, so that everyone (not just the totally dedicated fiends) would know that a new record is available. It might be worthwhile to combine advertising for merchandise and a new album to maximize the exposure. The fact still remains that they would make a helluva lot more money per CD (to release even more new stuff) in much less time. It's not like they need to put a label together to sign anyone. They have a definite sales base from minute one. Signing to a major label doesn't always turn a band into a pile of shit. If you were offered alot more money to sign with a major, you'd probably take it. Nothing's wrong with making more money. The thing that makes bands suck after they sign to a major is they let their music go to hell. There are bands that keep their music alive (Bad Religion) and there are bands that let their music die (Offspring). Being on a major doesn't make you a sellout, but allowing your music to suck so you can keep the braindead preppy masses happy sure does. The Misfits could sign to Atlantic, Mercury, Warner Brothers, whatever...as long as their music didn't go to hell I could care less what label they were on. I think Epitaph would take care of them though. Danzig would kick ass as Wolverine, but I don't think we'll be that lucky. And while X-Men is one of the most popular comic books in the world, I don't think they're popular enough to get someone cool like ILM to do their special effects. (Maybe if I stay pessimistic enough I'll be pleasantly surprised when the movie comes out...) To that guy with the sloppy HTML tags on his post...go here... http://www.ncsa.uiuc.edu/General/Internet/WWW/HTMLPrimerAll.html I think that Metallicrap cover is about the most we'll ever see of the Misfits on MTV. We then were escorted back stage where Doyle and Jerry were, They were thrilled to see us, We hung out and talked for a bit, Jerry introduced us to Marky Ramone I was amazed to see him walk past me, I couldnt believe my eyes, and then we headed out to the tour bus to watch the new American Psycho Video, It started off with the Crimson Ghost Playing The Abominable Dr. Phibes intro on a Pipe organ and four coffins opening, It showed theirs eyes open as they came back to life, The artwork was so good i cant think of words to describe it, The artwork was perfect, the lighting was Perfect, Ken as the Crimson Ghost was perfect, The Band was Perfect, There was also a great shot of Jerry for a split second with him standing in a foggy green light, very enchanting. After we watched the video I asked Doyle if he and the band had ever seen South Park, He mentioned that They may actually be on it, A friend of thiers is friends with Trey parker and Matt Stone, Yes, We may actually get to see the Misfits kill kenny, but im not gonna get too excited yet, its just an idea and an exciting possibility, Then we watched a Type O Negative Video and talked with Jerry and Doyle as they got ready for the show, We asked about Sardonica, Everytime we are with them Misfits we see Sardonica everywhere, Jerry told us its a buddy of his that he went to grade school with and gave us each a copy of their Grins Again CD, A very good band, A nice heavy sound, Then we headed in to See Marky Ramone, we were late but we did get to see him perform I Wanna be Sedated, and then It was Time for the Misfits, Thier intro was fuckin amazing, A huge screen was on the stage and it was showing vintage horror movie clips as Halloween 2 played, It had Clips of Frankenstein, Heads exploding, Alien invaders from outer space, The Crimson Ghost, even clips from Star Wars, A pure colage of Everything that means Misfits. Then the Band came on and Started of with The Abominable Dr. Phibes and right into American Psycho, The crowd was still crazy from that Adrenaline rushing intro, This was like no other Misfits show ive seen before, In the Middle of the Show Orange 9 milimeter's drummer guest appeared on drums for Death Comes Ripping and Chud did the vocals, It was really great to see Chud perform Death Comes Ripping, After that Jerry announced that as of Midnight Michale would be 23, so we all sang happy birthday to he, it was a special moment for everyone, At the end of the show Marky Ramone came out and played drums and chud once again took vocals for Blitzkrieg Bop, truley amazing the Misfits covering Blitzkrieg Bop with Marky Ramone on drums. This was the best Misfits show i had ever seen. The New Misfits have made all our dreams come true, They are going to higher and higher Levels, Thier Shows and Music keep getting better and better, and thier crowd gets bigger and bigger. They give the crowd a great energy, everyone at a Misfits show is a friend, I sure would like to see more of them on MTV, So everyone make sure you send e-mail to MTV telling them More Misfits and Less gay bands and rap. I had no problem de-spiking my jacket, but to watch them (at times forcibly) pulling fans away from Jerry and CHUD when they were out signing things kinda saddened me... Pics are coming... > From: WEARE777 Don't "blame" it on "Psycho" (which I love, btw)... The name, character and image came from a 1940's serial entitled (aptly enuff), "The Crimson Ghost". It's not too hard to find. I got mine for $10 or so at a SunCoast video (movie chain store). Too bad it's colorizedand edited...anyone have a B+W (and perhaps full) copy? Mail me. > To: "DUNGEONMASTER" Thanks...it _was_ one hell of a night. Never woulda happened if you hadn't of given me a much needed kick in the ass to approach Jerry. :) +========================================+===============================+ |"trapped under ice... comfortably cold |////////richard lockney////////| | i've gone as low as you can go...feel |mail: rlockney@black.clarku.edu| | no remorse, no sense of shame, time's |http: www.clarku.edu/~rlockney/| | gonna wash away all pain..." -KMFDM |http(2): deadb0y.ml.org ///////| +========================================+===============================+ ------------------------------ From: "Ken Thomas" Subject: MIsfits Port Chester Show Date: Mon, 23 Mar 1998 16:32:04 -0500 Does anyone have a copy of either the misfits port chester or rhode island show on cassete? Date: Tue, 24 Mar 1998 17:57:00 -0600 I just bought a live recording of the Misfits from Washington in 1983. The quality is horrible. Does anyone have anything decent out there. Please mail me at killer@stlnet.com P.S. I think Metallica covering the Misfits has become a disgrace to the band. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Mar 1998 18:52:54 -0500 From: temp Subject: I WANT A SAMHAIN CD!!!!! hey feinds this is wolfboy and i want to know if anynw wants to trade a samhain cd for some shit i got...email me and we cane work $omething out ------------------------------ From: Gggibson Date: Tue, 24 Mar 1998 22:05:33 EST Subject: Re: Misfits Bible, #453 Thanks, again. ------------------------------ From: Gggibson Date: Tue, 24 Mar 1998 22:37:39 EST Subject: Re: Misfits Bible, #454 Thanks ------------------------------ From: Foffle138
