If another boot appears of the same show, and it's got the same (wrong) track listing, it's a pretty safe bet that somebody just copied one bootleg and changed the art so it looks like a different one, without knowing anything about the songs. I remember being one of the few people that voted for all Mark issues and postings from relevant persons(bandmembers, related band bandmembers, etc.) At the same time, lots of these "intelligent" people left, sighting the fact that there was too much garbage, and not enough usefull information... And Mark, if your reading this, I plan on trying to get you some money sometime, but I'm very busy lately, and have been living off $5 for three months. Regardless, I should have something to you by years end. On Misfits Bible T-Shirts: I didn't vote in favor of having Misfits bible T-shirts made because I knew I didn't want one(Being a Computer Engineering student, I don't want to give people anymore reason to think I do nothing but sit in front of a computer all day). Yet, when the vote was held, the number of people that voted for them was far greater then the number of people that eventually bought them. The shirts were a long time in getting printed, I will admit, but the number printed, if a remember correctly, was a good bit smaller then the number of people that actually voted to have them made. When the shirts were made, they didn't exactly sell like hotcakes(whatever the hell that means). So to all the people who voted to have the shirts printed, and then didn't buy one, I would like to say, "WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING". Someone had to put down a fair sum of money to print the shirts, and I respect that they did that for the people that wanted them; and I don't appreciate the fact that people that ended up not wanting a shirt asked to have them printed. I don't know about a Danzig compilation, although it wouldn't surprise if me if American puts out something sometime. There are plenty of unreleased songs from the original lineup of Danzig - Eerie has played a few of them over his Danzig hotline - songs like "Pain Is Such A Lovin' Thing" "Cold, Cold Rain" and the fast version of "I'm The One." There were also demos and versions of songs like "Angel Of the Seventh Dawn" and "White Devil Rise." I doubt we'll see Samhain reissues or releases of any sort any time soon. As for Max's X-mas, it will never come out. Jerry and Doyle did some overdubs to improve the sound quality, but Caroline wouldn't approve them. PASTE: What a fucked up day... reading about the deaths of Wendy O. Williams and Tim Yo on the Misfits post, of all fucking places. Yeah, I wrote for Tim in MRR, did the "Headbanger Movie Reviews" once upon a time. Tim pissed me off, as an editor... and I like to think I pissed him off as a writer. That was Tim's job: pissing people off. Nice work if can get it. Though come to think of it, Tim didn't "get" the job; he fucking built it with his own hands from the ground up. That's what I admired about the guy, even at those times when I thought he was full of shit. (True, Tim used up a lot of people along the way, let's not forget that. The simple fact that he could talk people into letting themselves be used up for MRR and the Punk ideals behind MRR is a testement to the guy's energy and determination.) Tim helped to keep Punk alive during the dark and evil times of the Reagan/Bush/Thatcher junta of the 80's and early 90's. He gave validity to the mantra "Punk's Not Dead" that kept a lot of us on the true path as bands like Aha! and Missing Persons cranked their catchy little chart-toppers while the streets filled with the homeless, while rents shot up sky high due to yuppie gentrification and a lot of folks in great bands had to give up their music because they had to get full time jobs just to stay off the streets. Those were dark days, my friends, and I will eternally be in Tim's debt for the faint ray of light he gave us all. Ahhh... Tim, you asshole. I never could stay pissed at you. You were such a fucking jerk! (I mean that in the best possible way.) So, here I sit.... An old Punk with a receeding hairline, typing on a computer in a world where Wendy O. and Tim Yo are no longer around, and in which Green Day is a pop band listened to by teeny-boppers. What a fucking strange place to be. I realize, now, that the only times I have actually seen Tim face to face were in a shitty nieghborhood in Oakland near Shattuck and Alcatraz, a neighborhood I couldn't fucking wait to move out of, because it was so shitty and so fucking _empty_. My memories of Tim's face are of him with that goofy grin of his that made him look like a wise-assed sixth-grader who has _just_ nailed his teacher with a spit-ball while her back was turned (despite the shock of gray hair on his aged head). That's probably the best way to remember the guy. Oh, and a local band here "The Malignmen", here being Tennessee, Are finally getting a record deal. They get a comp. disc where they do 5 songs. And an full LP with 8 or 9 songs. They have two 7"s now which are both pretty damn good. But I reccomend buying the See I Ate/Bond 7" first because it's a better recording, and you will probably blame "Southgate Sessions" on them even though it is a great 7". They are a horror punk band here, that is NOT trying to be the Misfits. They are hardcore with sort of an archaic presence. You Must order some stuff. Yes, you read that correctly, issue #463 of the Misfits Bible is the very last one. Due to unforeseen circumstances (specifically the over-abundance of traffic caused by the web site), plan-9.com's service provider has begun charging our system administrator Salvator fees for every MB of data past his maximum limit. In just the past 2 days, he has accumulated almost $300 in fees. For this reason, plan-9.com will soon be shutting down, the web site and this mailing list along with it. As most of you know, Sal has provided the Misfits and Undead with web sites for free for the past year. Luckily for the Misfits, the cancellation of this site comes right as they're starting up www.misfits.com. I'm not sure what the fate of the Undead site will be. In the next few days, I will be transferring much of the information to an alternate site where I will hopefully be able to restore some of the site in the future. I don't know where this site will be or when I might be back online, but when I'm ready, I'll post to the Danzig newsgroup, the Danzig message board at www.the7thhouse.com and on the misfits newsgroup (if we ever get one up and running). In the meantime, I encourage everyone on this mailing list to post on alt.config and support the motion to create a Misfits newsgroup called alt.music.misfits. Several of us have already gone ahead and done so. Newsgroups aren't the greatest, but they certainly come in handy sometime. Believe it or not, but I had already decided to shut down the Misfits Bible even before receiving notice of plan-9.com's termination. I had already discussed it with Salvator, Rocky Caiafa (the Misfits' manager), and Bobby Steele. Losing the web site as well comes as a surprise, but with www.misfits.com (more on that below) on the way, at least a good deal of this information may be preserved. I'll devote the rest of this post to various news updates that everyone should be aware of: -------------- MISFITS UPDATE -------------- The next issue of the Bleeder's Diegest, the Fiend Club newsletter should be out by mid to late May. This issue should be full of lots of interesting surprises, among them the new membership fee. Due to the ever-growing size of the mailing list (10,000 and counting), Fiend Club membership will now cost $5 a year. Read more about it in the newsletter. Also in this issue, you can read about the band's feelings towards the Misfits Bible, this mailing list... In the upcoming issue, you will also read about The Misfits' plans to start up www.misfits.com. As many of you have seen, www.misfits.com is under construction. This site was recently purchased by the band and will feature up to the minute information on tour plans, promotional appearances, and merchandise, as well as never-before-seen images of the current band lineup. Band members will also be making scheduled online chat appearances although there will be NO online chat page. The site willbe run by John Cafiero, the producer of the two MTV videos. The Misfits will be appearing at the Chiller Theatre Horror Convention at the Hilton in Secaucus, NJ from Friday April 24th to Sunday April 26th. There, they will be signing autographs, meeting with the fans, and showing off the two MTV videos. The Misfits will be also making an appearance on ESPN's Extreme Games during the spring or summer.
