From: undead@juno.com (Bobby Steele) I just got my copy of VIOLENT WORLD, thanks to Tom B - the only person at CAROLINE who ever showed me any respect. Here's my view on this. In general; it's an interesting piece of work. I'm not gonna go into detail on every song, but I will make a few points. Part of the beauty of THE MISFITS music is in it's simplicity. For that reason, I'm not too crazy about GOLDFINGER and NOFX's somewhat quirky rythms in otherwise good renditions of those songs - so what, some of the words aren't right. I used t o sing "One sweet breath / One last caress". My two favorites are TANNER's take on T.V. CASUALTY. Kinda reminded me of PERE UBU (that other band on that other BLANK RECORDS) with the disonant, strained harmonies; and FARSIDE's version of RETURN OF THE FLY. I'll bet this is Glenn's favorite. Glenn always like to sing lounge versions of FITS tunes - and I can just picture him snapping his fingers and singing it this way after downing a half pint of Bacardi 151 proof and Coke. Most disappointing - and this is based on one listen, now; was LONDON DUNGEON, by PRONG. I think this was the only really weak track on the CD. Honorable mention goes out to DEADGUY for coming up with the idea of doing HB off of EVIL LIVE and including Glenn's comments. All in all . . . I think this record does justice to the songs. I doubt CAROLINE will get rich off this though, so don't feel bad if you've bought it. The cover art - that's another story. ------------------------------ From: mk Subject: Re: Misfits Bible #300 Date: Mon, 24 Feb 1997 17:05:23 -0500 (EST) > From: misfit > Subject: CD's > > My offer to make CD's from your Fit's tapes/cd's/records is still up for > $16.. email me at misfit@dreamscape.com for more info.. I know Jerry has a copy of the full show from December 22, 1978. As for the Max's Kansas City bootleg, of course it's Al's Bar 1982. Listen to it. The tracks on the 7" were taken directly from the live tape of the show that has been circulated all over the world. He has also serves the band as their loyal soundman, stage hand, and all around helper, and for about 3 years sang with the Misfits during their practice sessions before they found Michale. To pay him back, they had him come out to sing "We Are 138" at almost every show they did in March-May of '96, as well as some other stops. > From: Initium9@aol.com > Subject: Thrall/demonsweatlive > > I got thrall/demonswealtlive, and it doesn't have mother as the 93rd song. > There is no 93rd song. it stops at song seven. They deserve to get passed over. The fact that you described Resistance's double tribute album with such apparent love and accuracy shows me and everybody else on the Misfits Bible where you fall on the food chain. As far as I am concerned, any artist that would come right out and encourage the genocide of other human beings on the basis of skin tone does not deserve to breathe. This goes for Shitdriver, Nordic Thunder, Rahowa and everybody else on Resistance and their ilk. Any asshole reading this that dares to try and bring up any black rap album that they claim has anti-white lyrics is going to die trying, because none ever existed and ever will exist. I accessed the Resistance website once just to see how hall-spawned these demons were, and the next time I access it, is going to be to plant so many bugs and bad wavs and gifs it won't be funny. If one good punk album track could express the way I feel about the Nazi/Klan plague, it would be the opening montage at the beginning of WarZone's "Open Your Eyes" where Raybeez and company have the sound effect of Hitler and a beerhall full of Nazis being atombombed. End of fuckin' story. Anybody wishing to help wipe out the Nazi/Klan plague should start out by getting inspired, and I can think of no better place to start than by reading The Autobiography Of Malcolm X and Ice-T's "The Ice Opinion", seeing the movies Malcolm X, Get On The Bus, and Schindlers' List, and listening to the following albums: Bob Marley's "Burnin'", "Natty Dread" and "Rastaman Vibration", Public Enemy's "It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back" and "Fear Of A Black Planet", Professor Griff's "Pawns In The Game", Ice Cube's "Death Certificate", and Ice-T's "Home Invasion", all of which are easily available. And by the way Beowulf, the next time you want to call me names, I suggest you call me them to my face. I may have a goofy nickname but I like it and at least I don't hide behind a pseudonymn like some people I could mention. Sorry to all the people who have e-mailed me, including Bobby Steele, saying they appreciate my posts, especially my more humourous ones, but as someone of mixed Italian/Sioux Indian/Irish parentage who was brought up essentially under the same ideals that Martin Luther King and Malcolm X espoused, I won't let any of these Nazi/Klan faggots--and that's exactly what they are, because they aren't real men--pass by without speaking out, and I hope the rest of you feel and act the same way towards them, at least I think so. Please don't prove me wrong. And Mark, I'm sorry this post is so fucking long, but it's important and I wouldn't be typing all this if I wasn't. The $25 thing. I agree that ticket prices are getting completely out of hand lately - hell I just paid $54 each for a pair of Kiss tix. Metallica was a bit more reasonable - at $37, but hey - that's an arena show with all of the attached overhead. $25 to see a band with one truck-load of equipment and a few roadies......I don't know. That just ain`t right. Its not bitching - I firmly agree that no one is forced to pay for it if they don't want it - but it is kind of steep. Unless this one-off gig is a charity / fund raiser kind of thing. Or are there several bands on the bill - that's different if you've got 5 bands all getting a cut. As for someone mentioning that place in jersey w/ no security, etc. I don`t think they care - that's what Memory Lane was like in Baltimore on the 10/30/96 show. It was just a total clusterfuck. The point is that if Ian wanted to he >could >have surpassed the other oi-punk bands of the day (Sham 69, etc), but he >stood strong and would not compromise or sell out (something no >ex-Misfit >can seem to manage). What!? You are WAY dumb. Let me explain the Ian Stewart thing for the IDIOTS who don't seem to realize when Ian sings songs about hanging immigrants and "Fuck the IRA" that he's a Nazi. Skrewdriver was originally a fairly left-wing Oi! band out of Great Britain. Their VERY early stuff, the first 12", some early comp tracks really doesn't show their racist tendencies. Stewart was a closet Nazi at this point, but decided he would not come out because of the fact it wasn't popular and he wouldn't get popular the Nazi way. In terms of musical chops, Skrewdriver was quite good...not as good as some other UK bands, well, not as good as a lot of UK bands, but in terms of Oi! they were quite good at the beginning, up there with guys like the Buisness. However, don't buy their stuff, there is plenty of good non-racist Oi! you can buy. Stewart got frustrated when DIY ethics didn't bring him stardom. He DID hang out with some of the punks at the time, and many a time they shared gigs with bands like the Exploited, the Buisness, etc. However Stewart did not become a star, and this is when the full-blown Nazism emerged. Skrewdriver got REALLY racist, and they didn't just talk the talk, they walked the walk. They preached violence upon minorities, white pride, and other topics only the world's biggest fucking idiots can preach. And soon, with their cult of followers, they began to act. "Paki-bashing" was the biggest thing...the large Pakistani contingent in England at the time was victim to Skrewdriver and fellow Nazi bands like Bound For Glory, Squadron, etc.'s raids. They also began to throw Nazi music fests, which have been a yearly event since 1986 or so. They also attacked the Irish. Any bands who claimed to be strongly anti-racist had their clubs raided by Skrewdriver and crew. They were the forefront of the Nazi punk scene because they did so much work to support it and because they are the most well-known, musically because they were there before the other bands and because Nazis liked to commit hate crimes better to Skrewdriver's muzak. Now onto Beowulf's comments. Ian Stewart WAS a sick fuck. You are defending a man who stated many times he'd like to kill anyone who wasn't Aryan. White Pride is NOT cool. It is one of the scariest and most fucked-up things on planet Earth. Ian Stewart's own politics screwed his chances at stardom, and he so desperately wanted stardom. Being a sellout is one thing, being a Nazi gangleader is a totally different one, and being both...yech! In terms of "influence on the worldwide music scene" they convinced a bunch of Nazis to start bands. Oooh. GG Allin was a stupid bastard too, but he hated humanity. He was a sick fuck. Thank God Ian Stewart is dead. It hurt the Nazi scene greatly. I was ecstatic when he died. Beowulf, I consider your comments to affiliate you with the Nazi movement, and for that you should be exiled from the Misfits bible and given a serious beatdown. I'd be more than happy to give it to you. Now, onto more interesting topics... Four Hits from Mars, my money's in the mail. I'm dyin' for that gold vinyl. Kudos to Jake, DIY, bro, and I'm glad I subscribed to this just in time to find out about it! You really oughtta distro it through a few places...give others a chance! Send 20 copies to Vacuum or something. He'll buy 'em, and others deserve to hear it...this closet scene is exactly why so many people don't find out about this stuff. Maybe I'll buy 20 and sell them at some NY shows. But one for me first to see how good it is. Also, to all the bands on it...very cool. If you guys want NY shows, e-mail me I'll set you up. Again, I have to hear your covers first though. As for Violent World...buy it if you want. I'm avoiding it like the plague. The music isn't good, fascist Earth Crisis are on it, and it's expensive major label sell-out rock. But Tom's a good guy, and stuck behind his project, so props Tom! Some bands I should plug...(aka bands you'd like if you like the Misfits)... HARDCORE: Half Man's new LP is amazing. Charles Bronson's singer told me an LP is on the way...they are the next DRI/Stikky/Septic Death! My band has some stuff out too. Check us out, hardcore as hell. Most hardcore I like is probably too grind for ya, so I'll stop talking about it now. Another band Fiendies should like...CR's LP is out! Woohoo! ROCKNROLL: The Devil Dogs are about the only band who can compare to the best Misfits stuff...if you haven't heard the Devil Dogs, you should go out and buy it now. Best rock band ever. Candy Snatchers, great stuff. The Jet Boys are the newest Japanese rocksters. Los Ass-Draggers, a Spanish rock band, finally did the LP for their new album, and it is FLY! 20 songs, 20 minutes. Killer. The Hookers from Kentucky do some really raunchy rocknroll, they also did some Misfits and KBD covers at recent shows...obvious taste. Their 7" is pretty dried up (everyone bought it!) but a 10" from Smut-E is supposedly on the way, and they just signed to Crypt! Yes! There's too many more rock bands out there, man, I'll stop fer today. In terms of Misfits stuff...I got a new live tape of them last weekend. I was watching it, and here's my basic call on the whole situation. From what I saw of the live show, it reminded me a lot of bands like the Necros, Exploding Corpse Action, Blood River Rockers, and other "horror punk" bands who tried to bite the Misfits' style. They sing songs with violent lyrics, they play fast rock'n'roll mayhem on wheels...but they just kinda don't seem to get it. Glenn was really the only guy who wrote lyrics that had more to them...didn't seem like teenage slasher songs...from the lyrics I've picked up on the new songs, they just sound like, well, those other bands. That's not good. In terms of the old Misfits songs...not bad...not great either. What I'm saying is rehash I know, but the Misfits owed a lot of their standing out early on to their horror image and their amazing vocalist who didn't do the larynx shred, he sang with a sort of sweet death romantics voice, and that was new. He wasn't Johnny Rotten, and didn't try to be. I dunno. I just am not too impressed. Sorry. But again, I'm waiting for the LP...as Mark said, it will settle a lot of things. Best of lucky to Jerry and the guys though, I hope they do it well, and step up to the next level...as for Bobby, I've seen Times Square live, I liked them, I like my Undead vinyl too...kudos Bobby! Not 1/2 bad! Any vinyl plans for the new Times Square? I might check it out. See y'all later. They could have the superstars of hardcore tour, with DKs, Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Minor Threat, Gang Green, MDC, Kraut, Agnostic Front, Bad Brains .... etc etc. It would be like the Superbowl of Hardcore they used to have at the Ritz in NYC. J-Sin said "I heard that Misfits are playing at Obsessions in Randolph,NJ >and I just wanted to let them know that the place is shit." I've never been inside but I drove past that place a million times. It used to be the Final Exam years ago. They should have the Misfits show at the Pipeline in Newark. That club has been supporting the NJ punk scene for close to 10 years. The Birch Hill would work good too, nice size club, plenty of parking, and no frisking at the door. ... :) AZ ------------------------------ From: TREVOR JOSEPH MCPHEE Date: Tue, 25 Feb 1997 11:21:31 GMT-0400 Subject: Sorry! but I have to know. First, to all of you satanic religious fanatics out there who feel the misfits bible is a forum for your oxymoronic soliloquies. I have a news bulletin for you. NO ONE GIVES A SHIT WHAT RELIGION YOU ARE! I don't want to rain on your little crusades but the last thing I want to read in the MISFITS bible is that some no name inbred in butt-fucked missouri or wherever you idiots come from worships satan. Religion is one of the most boring subjects I can think of because everyone has their own beliefs and opinions on it. So if you are posting on the misfits bible I would think it would be common sense to post something about the misfits instead of droning on about your chosen beliefs in religion. If you are that desperate to pollute other online publications then start your own. Don't you morons have your own means of communication? I would think that somebody somewhere would have a website or chatline where you shitheads could get together and rant your microscopic little minds out. So quit taking up space on the misfits bible. I suscribed because i wanted to hear about the misfits and their related bands not religious retoric. My sincere apologies to all the real misfits fans who actually have something misfits related to post, but I had to get that off my chest. -The Rat Bastard "Stammer, scream, shit yourselves... and my silver talons dip in again and again... I must say that I was impressed. A bible issued tribute, by bible bands, paying homage to the bible topic band. Here's a short review.. 1) Undermine (Die Die...) vocals fit well, a straight version cool cover, like it a lot 2) Silent Noise (Horror Biz) the music is good & fuzzy, but I don't much care for the vocals (sorry guy, I probably couldn't do much better) But I must say that it is very impressive for one guy doing everything (as the sleeve says) 3)Ripsnorter (skulls) dude sounds very Glenn-esque, I like it a lot. Fast paced, ripsnortin' cover tune in the style we know & love 4) Idiot Police (138) Angry sounding fellow! The striking thing is the lack of any (at least audible) guitars. But it works really well. Especially like the "Jesus F-ing Christ Almighty!" at the end, nice touch Anyone who has not yet ordered one should do it ASAP. These are great cover songs by people who obviously care about the band. You won't be disappointed. I find one thing about Misfits songs (when they're done right) is that no matter how many different versions you hear, one never grows tired of hearing them. The versions on this 7" do justice to our Misfits. Ben ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Feb 1997 17:10:47 -0800 (PST) From: bill avery Subject: auction(whats left) O.K. You've gotta figure for any record recorded there could be 5 original tapes out there. The multi-track tape(s), the rough mix, the final mixed master, and the safety msater. Then of course there can be pressing master and plates, etc... Add to that, any one of those sources could be dubbed to another 1/4" tape or whatever and there's really no telling what the source is. For instance the recent Descendents bootleg CD isn't from Bill or Milo obviously. My guess it's from someone at SST (they have unreleased Descendents ttapes) or maybe Doug Caron (the guitarist on those tapes). So... as i said. No tellin'. Now on to Skrewdriver. I didn't like their politics. And then I heard one of their records and they sucked. So.. what' the point in discussing them? Isn't the singer dead anyway? Oh well... if anyone is touring the Midwest let me know. I'm interested in setting shows up in my area with my band supporting possibly. Also check out the Jam covers page http://www.spy.net/~allroy/ i guarantee no Goldfinger. And whoever mentioned that, yeah Goldfinger was in Eletric Love Hog or whatever and thewy also were members of Motorcycle Boy (YUCK!). I am a hard-core Misfits fan. So of course when I heard there was a Misfits tribute album, called Violent World, I was interested. When I heard the album, I was disgusted and enraged. It was an abomination unto Danzig himself. I thought to myself, "Is this what punk has come to?" Goldfinger doing "Ghoul's Night Out" sounded irritatingly like a Weird Al song. What in the fuck happened??? You should not be able to understand the lyrics to "Can I Go Out and Kill Tonight." Ska is fine and good, but NO MISFIT SONG NEEDS A HORN SECTION!! Other featured "artists" were Pennywise, Prong, Therapy?, NOFX, and more. Now, I don't know what you think of these bands, but when you hear this album, you will want them all to take their own miserable lives. These worthless, whining, pretty-boy rockers should never have tried to pick up the mantle of the Misfits. They will simply never fit into their father's shoes. Glenn must be turning in his grave, right now. In short, I want to start a campaign against this travesty of an album. If you have not heard the album, listen to it. Don't buy it, just listen to it. If you have heard it and you agree with me, let me know. Hello fiends... first: Scott - i hate to say this but the Glenn as wolverine has been around for 7 years now. i first heard it back in 1990, i even have friends who say they saw some bit on MTV at the time. though the topic has not come up again, plus Marvel is way behind on all their movies. at the same time they were suposed to start work on shooting a new Spiderman, with i think Charlie Sheen. though as most people know Marvel is having financial problems. plus as you know Verotik was not a reality at that time. Oh, by the way. You know that during the entire time that Danzig has toured, at least all the shows here in Florida have been priced at $15 - 16. Now why would anyone charge $25. If you think about what bands charge that kind of money are usually in arenas. odd isn't it? Tim - you might want to try and contact Curtis from Taang records on the Cough/Cool(they are now in CA. and you can find them on the internet). he had one left and it was one i was suposed to buy. he then refuse to sell it to someone else i know. you could ask if he is willing to sell it if he still has it. Misfits 101... Who Can You Trust... well this seems to be coming up again and something that i have dealt with for over 10 years. I have been told from known fiends who have incredible collections that they fear that they will be scammed. You can call it what you will, ripped off, scammed, burned. But it is something we all have to deal with everytime we try to buy or trade for the one thing that every fiend on this bible is after. I have had record stores who had no idea what they were selling me was a bootleg, though they did the right thing and dealt with the mistake. Though what do you do when your not dealing with a record store? Well first ask around about the person you are dealing with. there is a good chance that another fiend on the bible will know something about this person. if not people on the bible, ask other traders you know, though i would say there are some fiends on the bible who deal in and out of the bible. also when you are dealing for an item you don't know a lot about, go to Misfits Central, use Misfits 101, or ask fiends who own the item. At least at that point if you go through with the deal and i don't care if its money or trade, you can know you got the real thing or not. The other point is what you give to get the item. if its money, ask around about the price, ask a couple people. What i paid for most of my stuff and what you saw on Misfits 101, is not what is usually normal. Most people are not going to sell a real Beware for $40. and the going price that i posted was $325. If you take on trade, ask some of the fiends about what records are being asked for, or even if you know of a record store that has the item for sale and its not cheap, ask them about the records. I hate to say it but some people will try to rip you off even when you get the real item. I was once asked to trade for a Horror Business records what would have been worth 3 - 4 copies of Horror Business. This person thought i would be easy to trick, though he was way off. even when i did not know enough about the other bands, i would ask the record stores what they knew. Chuck Cleaver always took the time to tell me about some of the other bands. How else do you find out that Necors Sex Drive was so rare that the band members did not have copies. Now if you settled the deal and were about to make the exchange, have the person's address, and phone nubmer. at least make the final deal on the phone where you make the call. Even when i find something on the internet, i will take the time and spend the money to call. at least i know that the number is real, there is no bullshit. if the item is late, call, if any problem with the item call. though you have to know that shit happens too. I have had problems with even dear old Chuck though it was not his fault. It was our wonderful Postal System, which finally left me its your last chance to pick this up notice. You could ask or suggest, UPS, which will cost a little more, but not much. plus they insure up to $100 for free. So what can i tell you, but you take your chance and if any problem gets out of hand than you take after that asshole like a bat out of hell. I know that sounds bad, but when you have dealt with it before it kind of stays with you and your attitude is a bit on the nasty side to getting ripped. well next time, we will get to places to find some general vinyl. i wish i could offer some places that have the good stuff, but its getting harder than ever. The Misfits show on February 28th was cancelled when the show owner mysteriously bailed out on the band. They will not be re-scheduling this show. Animal Room The Misfits were filmed in one scene of this movie back in November of 1995, and now finally we're going to bsee it. According to Rocky, the movie is supposedly playing in Europe, but won't be onscreen here in the US until April when it will be shown at the Hollywood Film Fest. After that, it may make its way into US movie theaters. Fiend Club They are still (as always) in the process of putting more names into the database. Right now they're at about 6700 and growing. A postcard with European tour dates will be mailed out in about 3 weeks, and in the meantime, Rocky and Doug Evil are working on a Fiend Club newsletter that will be put out 4 times a year. I know we've heard a lot of this before, but this time it seems like they're really moving. Tour Dates The band will be touring Europe in April. Any tickets sold for shows in November of 1996 (all of which were postponed) will still be good in the spring. The show on 4/20/97 will be special to make up for last year's cancelled show in Birmingham. The band won't be playing in the US until around June 1st, after they finish up with their tour of Europe. No US dates have been set yet and everything is tentative. The band will probably tour from June until Halloween, in 3 legs, much as they did this past summer. The album itself will feature the new Crimson Ghost design by Jurek (used on all recent Misfits shirts) as the cover. You even mentioned some artists in your "recommeded" list that either were or are anti-white and/or anti-Semitic. For the record, referring to white people as "devils" is inflammatory and bigoted... that's the type of lyrics we're talking about here. Judging by the rhetoric you've spouted in previous Bibles, Mr. Duck, you sir are a homophobe, and I find that just as distasteful as racism. From your Rastafarian beliefs I wouldn't be surprised to learn you are also an anti-Semite. The fact that you are arrogant enough to term your viewpoint as "righteous" implies a generalized religious intolerance. Therefore, your position is no more defensible than Skrewdriver's. You are intolerant of other people based on their lifestyle, ideology, or beliefs -- which is a silly and ignorant way of thinking. Ask any ranking Ku Klux Klan official and he'll tell you there's nothing that gets free P.R. for the Klan like fervent anti-Nazism and anti-White Pride crusades. Out here in San Francisco, the only Klan meetings I ever hear about are the ones that are regularly held on talk shows like Oprah, Jenny Jones, etc., ostensibly to "stop the hatred" or "educate people". If rabid anti-Nazi crusaders would stop adding credibility to these people's organizations, maybe they'd finally dry up and blow away. In other words: I don't care about Skrewdriver. They don't interest me. This is the Misfits Bible. Let's take this crap someplace it belongs, because the whole thing is boring me to tears. On the subject of "Thrall/Demonsweatlive": ------------------------------------------ My memory is a little foggy here, and I'm surprised Mark hasn't jumped in with some discography clarifications! BUT -- so far as I know, my copy of the disc does NOT include the extra track 93. I'd have to go home to check. I believe the studio "Mother" was added in second/later pressings when the "Mother" live track started getting airplay. If I remember correctly, the "live" track a lot of people were hearing on MTV or whatever wasn't even the one from "Demonsweatlive", it was the studio version remixed with crowd noises or something. As the song got popular it was decided people would want to get their hands on the studio version, so it was added to the disc. I THINK that's how the story goes -- but I COULD BE WRONG. Clarification anyone? As to why the bonus track is track 93, the live video was called "Mother '93" I think... even though the song didn't change much. So that's probably why. I always thought it was a kinda clever number for Glenn, though, because using some kind of numerological system (don't ask me which one) "93" is the number of the words Love and Will. So you often get Aleister Crowley fans putting "93 93/93" in their signatures, which, when written out as a fraction, is a kinda cute shorthand for "Love is the Law, Love under Will". So the first explanation is PROBABLY correct... but you can look at it the Crowley way if you feel like being kinda clever and reading into Glenn's "hobbies". The Misfits weren't the only band to blend B-movie camp with rock 'n' roll, but their black costumes and songs about gore, mutilation, and flying saucers made them if not the heart then certainly the blood and guts of what became known as Gothic rock. The 100 minutes of music in this coffin-shaped box set cover the group's entire six-year history, documenting it's progression from an instrument smashing caricature of every parent's worst heavy-metal nightmare to a ghoulish burlesque act whose songs ("Devil's Whorehouse" and "Green Hell," for example) are, in the end, suprisingly catchy. -Patrick Smith --------------------------------- Emily ------------------------------ From: DAVID TESTA Date: Thu, 27 Feb 1997 14:06:21 +0000 Subject: original metallica demo for sale hey, I know this has nothing to do with the Misfits but I also know that alot of Misfits fans like Metallica. To Stephen Gorny, the genius that referred to me as "some dumb bastard" (when I much prefer "ignorant racist bastard"), wow thanks for showing me that there is someone out there less informed on Skinheads and WP music than Jerry Springer. I don't wanna take up even more space by cutting and pasting the entire grossly misinformed post, so I'll just pick a couple of the most glaring fuck-ups. "Let me explain the Ian Stewart thing for the IDIOTS who don't seem to realize when Ian sings songs about hanging immigrants and "Fuck the IRA" that he's a Nazi. Skrewdriver was originally a fairly left-wing Oi! band out of Great Britain. Their VERY early stuff, the first 12", some early comp tracks really doesn't show their racist tendencies. Stewart was a closet Nazi at this point, but decided he would not come out because of the fact it wasn't popular and he wouldn't get popular the Nazi way." First off, the name is IAN STUART, or Ian Stuart Donaldson if you wanna be picky. A left-wing Oi! band?? Pretty impressive considering there was never any such thing. .From the 4-Skins to Combat 84 to The Last Resort all the major Oi! bands of the late 70's and early 80's were right wing working class patriotic bands (it was the whole point of the movement). None of their songs from the debut album, ALL SKREWED UP, can possibly be interpreted as leftist. Ian was _never_ a closet nazi, he was involved with the British Movement and the NF since his early days as a Skin. More on that later tho. ""Paki-bashing" was the biggest thing...the large Pakistani contingent in England at the time was victim to Skrewdriver and fellow Nazi bands like Bound For Glory, Squadron, etc.'s raids. They also began to throw Nazi music fests, which have been a yearly event since 1986 or so. They also attacked the Irish." This one is my personal favorite. In case anyone out there still thinks this dumbass knows what he's talking about, Bound For Glory started in Minnesota (that's in the U.S. NOT the U.K.) in 1989!!! And paki-bashing was always a favorite passtime of Skins since the 60's. AND Ian never attacked the Irish. He was probably one of the few Englishmen that _didn't_ hate the Irish, tho he did hate the marxist IRA. "White Pride is NOT cool. Beowulf, I consider your comments to affiliate you with the Nazi movement, and for that you should be exiled from the Misfits bible and given a serious beatdown." Is too. I should know because I'm so damn cool. Uh oh, my comments don't fit in with your idea of "democracy", better kick me off and only allow those with ideas that conform to yours. That's enough of his sillyness, onto some even more warped nonsense. "The reason I say Skrewdriver were a failure as a band is because they had to sell out to the National Cunts, (err I mean National Front - oh I was right the first time, sorry) to get their name more noteriety. They deserve to get passed over." Dude you obviously don't know dick about the history of Skrewdriver. Don't try to make assumptions based on the little knowledge you've garnished .from the latest MTV Hate Rock special. Ian was a member of the NF before Skrewdriver released their tracks on the UNITED SKINS comp, so selling out is an impossibility. In fact it was the other way around: Ian took a more radical approach to help the Front grow, since Skrewdriver had already earned a huge name for themselves in the punk and Oi! scene, and hardly needed any help gaining more noteriety. "The fact that you described Resistance's double tribute album with such apparent love and accuracy shows me and everybody else on the Misfits Bible where you fall on the food chain." Dang Sherlock you blew my cover, and I was trying so hard to keep my beliefs secret too. Yeah I own the album, and everything else Resistance has released, as well as everything released by Ian Stuart and Skrewdriver. In fact, my whole damn music collection is online if yer that curious. Sure the lyrics can't compare to "pass me da crack pipe, pull out mah glock, gonna smoke me some herb, gonna gank me a cracka" but I like it... "Any asshole reading this that dares to try and bring up any black rap album that they claim has anti-white lyrics is going to die trying, because none ever existed and ever will exist." hahaha dude you've been smokin way too much ganja and listening to Bob Moolie (see I can play the silly name game too). Yeah gangsta rap is the most peaceful music I can think of! Did whites come up with the terms "white devil" and "honkie"? Anyone that believes this guy will also believe me when I say that Skrewdriver was really a Grateful Dead tribute band! Anyone out there with any common sense will see just how fucked up and hypocritical these people who preach "equality" and "peace" really are. Black pride is great but White Pride just isn't "cool". Freedom of speech indeed. I apologize for the long post, but someone has to stand against the thought police. if anyone would like to read a condensed history of Skrewdriver and download .wavs from their numerous albums visit: http://www.excaliber.com/thor/ian.htm 'Till the next instance of communism running rampant on the Bible, Anthony Plunder Plunder & Pillage (THE site for Oi!/punk/RAC) http://www.excaliber.com/thor/home.htm "Somebody once said to me, "If there was a race war, whose side would you be on?" Subject: It seems a little purple... Hello fiends... Misfits 101... just a little lesson in purple... Well thanks to one of the fiends from the bible, i have a purple Die Die now, which has now made it clear there were more than Earth AD hybrids. The purple is marbled with blue and red. This is kind of like the purple vinyl Who Killed Marilyn. There are ones that have red marbling in them. All you need to do is hold it up to the light. Though the funny thing is, most dealers even those who know their stuff, just don't seem to take the time to look. That was done with my Earth AD's. I have two that were called purple vinyl. One is such a light purple with pink, red and blue marbling in it, though the record store owner called it purple. Another record store sold me again a purple Earth AD, this was such a dark purple and red color, that when you hold it up to the light you can see what kind of looks like blood flowing through it. So take your chances on the color vinyls, but you may not quite know what to expect. Plus its not just purple, i have white that has bits of black in it. This can be found on the white Die Die and the Three Hits. It seems that Glenn had a thing for creating hybrids, there is a pink Initium, other than the famous pink Legacy. Sean - is your copy of Thrall an American copy? They got cheap out in Australia, i just have 7 tracks, though it was a limited edition picture CD. AZ - what are you doing man, picking up hitchhikers at shows ;) Adam - SOA depends on the color of the vinyl. though some record stores try to charge $70 for the black vinyl. The first press is green vinyl, and no black flag bars on Henry's arm. second press is black vinyl and has no band name on label. third has the band name on the label and it is black vinyl. going prices $30 - 70 and a total of 3000 presses. Teen Idles - first press with a heavy stock cover and the surface scratches easily. second press with thin paper cover. plus thanks a lot, jan. it says second pressing on back. prices $60 - 90. Dischord is a very tradable piece of vinyl, and you might just find them that way. Vinyl Ink has them from time to time, but they will charge the $70 for the SOA black vinyl. the best bet is to check out Yesterday and Today in MD. they do have original Dischord 7" from time to time and very reasonable prices. plus you can find them on the internet. phone # 301-279-7007. the bit about HR Giger sueing Glenn was a load of shit. plus no one body-surfed to serve anything to Glenn. I did ask several years ago, and it was that Giger was after those bootlegging the image on to shirts and such. Though i'm sure there are others who know more to the story. well that is enough for today, i have this crazy idea that i might finish this post early and actually get some sleep. though that never happens. hope everyone has a great weekend. After all of your hard work in not only making MISFITS CENTRAL and also producing THE MISFITS BIBLE 3 motherfreaking times a goshdarn week (I'm not cursing anymore, bear w/ me), what does everyone do to show our unending appreciation? This Skrewdriver bullshit is thrown in everyone's face by some inconsiderate asshole. Before I begin commentating on that, let me first state my normal policy on such matters. I'm 80 issues (or more) old now (exactly how many K is that, Mark???) as a subscriber. I've seen these fly-by-night heated debates come and go. Hell, it didn't take me long to become the center of one (Ken Ward, remember little ol' me?). Those of you who've been here long enough should know what I'm talking about. Let's not rehash it. Anyway, I quickly learned from that situation that THE MISFITS BIBLE always has 3-5 pointless debates going on. For instance, this recent America vs. Canada crap was really, really childish. I can't begin to tell anyone how silly it was to sit here and listen to adults bicker over whose country was tops. Of course, I'd say 90% was intended as humor (if not, it was just that damn stupid)! I'm digressing here. To get back on the right track, there are always a few of these wasting everyones' time, but I picked up on something I'm not sure how many others have realized. A good 80% of the reason these things last sooooo long is because you get 100 people every BIBLE saying, "Stop talking about such and such!" More and more people start saying that shit BIBLE after BIBLE. I'd almost call it a MISFITS BIBLE trend (ew, the "t"-word 'll piss off some punkers, but it's true). The "get this outta here" people grow more and more, until they are 95% of the people bringing it up at all! Meanwhile, those being singled out and attacked get more and more defensive until they just quit. Okay, new paragraph, because the last one went too many directions. My point is this: When an annoying topic comes up in THE MISFITS BIBLE, leave it the heck alone! No, I'm not trying to take away your freedom of speech or oppress your "minority views" or any other rock cliches. Ignore the standard buzz-word reactions for just a second and think about this. When you say, "Hey, stop talking about such and such" first, you're going to open the floodgates, so to speak, and we'll spend much time scrolling by messages that keep the users with limited K amounts per mail from receiveing the entire BIBLE. On the other hand, and this is most of you, when you see someone else say "Stop talking about such and such," and add your $0.02, you're not helping out. I mean, if you have a well thought out post, go ahead and give your view, but I'm tired of seeing 300 sentences that are the SAME, give or take a few words. "Stop talking about blah-blah-blah, you're wasting our time!" or "This is THE MISFITS BIBLE, not the BLAH-BLAH-BLAH BIBLE!" or "Stop posting the damned SBTB sighting!" ET CETRA! People, stop giving your opinions when you have nothing to say about it. Right now, I do. Before I get to that, one last safeguard. Many of you may feel as though I'm attacking you personally, and "defend yourself" by saying I've just spent a whole post saying not to post posts like the post I just posted. (<--- Now that was fun!) Well, you're wrong. 1) For one, this is a well thought out post I've spent plenty of time on (I can *NOT* type very well). I didn't pull one of these: "Stop dragging on these useless topics, they really make the BIBLe suck." No, folks, I wrote a real friggin' post, here! 2) I don't believe the issue has been touched on, yet. The general area of bad topics gumming up THE MISFITS BIBLE has, but not this specific area. The point is, don't jump on the bangwagon. When you see 200 people saying "Nazi punks suck," you're not helping a single thing by adding, "Yeah, nazi punks suck," because at that point, those 'nazi punks' just aren't the problem anymore (if they ever were), YOU ARE! *To the Rightous Black Duck* Listen, man, I don't know you, and you don't know me. Let's scratch "personal vendettas" off of the list. I am NOT a Nazi. Scratch "Justin's a Nazi 'fuck'" off of the list. I'm not a big hip-hop fanatic. I'm white. Two strikes against me? Only to the ignorant mind. We have no history, I have no preference in your subject of choice (I didn't know shit about "Skrewdriver" until I heard about them here, which means I still know little except some think they were "nazi fucks"), and I am, whether you'd like to admit it or not, totally unbiased. Here's what I see happening. A few people mention a band called Skrewdriver. The Rightous Black Duck, and a few others, go off on this band. Hey, when some racist rap group (and they DO exist, to say that they don't is equal to saying vinyl records are digital) goes off on "da man," meaning us honkies, I take offense. Hey, I know how you feel. Keep in mind, though, most of the racism against me as a white person comes from sources other than rap, since I let myself be subjected to as little as possible. Don't make a big deal out of a non-issue, there's a bigger matter to discuss here. These Skrewdriver fans respond saying that this Ian guy stood up for what he believed in, and for the most part, they did it without any profanity or immaturity (don't say now that "racism is immature, though..." Respond to the real issues). I'm not saying I agree with all or any of what they said, I'm saying they stated their piece in the proper manner. However, the Rightous Black Duck becomes the Outraged Almighty Rightous One, and feels the need to not only flame all Skrewdriver fans, but "rally against them" among the BIBLE, AKA intentionally attempt to stir up shit. I don't mean to interupt your Rightous, Christian mission to alienate these pariahs and bring them to your own justice, but I feel the need to point out that YOU are the only one causing problems here, and if you're not going to be happy until the evil-doers are gone, it's time for you to leave. I'm not defending Skrewdriver fans. I'm not shunning them, either! I don't know about their beliefs and morals, but even if I did, that would be no justication for a "Rightous Crusade" against them such as the one you're starting. They should be left to believe whatever they want to believe, no matter how you interpet it. For instance, if you became the "Anti-White Duck," I, at least, wouldn't start a "Rightous Crusade" to rid the BIBLE of such filth. I might mention you, say I disagree with you, but I would NEVER start a flame-war, on purpose, and then cause a rift in the BIBLE by saying "Join my crusade against these racist scumbags!" You're not simply stating your view, you're flaming them and encouraging others to flame them, get them out of here, etc. Rightous Black Duck, sir, it is YOU that is wrong. *An important outro* Right now, I have a mental image of the Misfits logging on and checking out this MISFITS BIBLE, wondering what their fans are up to. I see them scratch their heads at the sight of a campaign against Skrewdriver, an America vs. Canada feud, etc. Let's not forget all of the four-man line-ups, past and present, that are what we're supposed to be talking about! To avoid that last sentence counting as a bandwagony comment, I'll ellaborate. There's more to reality than the Misfits, and there's also more to the Misfits than the music. We're humans, and topics will branch out. This is good, IMO. I like to see intelligent debate, when handled properly (when was the last time that happened?). However, we should totally forsake the 'Fits for all of the bullshit that envelopes it ever-so-often. At least there's good things in here like the 4 Hits >From Mars comments, Violent World reviews, Danzig rumors/news (at least it's related stuff), collector info, bootleg-related topics, and of course, BOBBY STEEL! I've rambled on quite enough, bouncing from topic to topic faster than I could make many of my points fairly often. It's 2:30 in the fucking morning (yes, I'm cursing again), any butchering of the English language is tough bananas! I still think this is a pretty good post, despite, and I hope this saves ol' Mark some trouble in writing us a post to tell us loud young-uns to turn it down! There are so many cool lines from that flick. Hell, they even bomb a sorority house (Gamma Delta Iota, aka God Damned Independent). I've loved it since I was about 9. I hope they re-work the song and put it out, 'cause I'd really like to hear a 'fits song for it. I wrote a little ditty last year, but my lyrics usually stink and I have very little music talent. "Devils" never did and never will mean all whites, only the Klan/Skinhead demons that spout the lies you seem to believe in (and probably won't admit it). Second of all, I am not homophobic, against gays or whatever. I'll repeat, I used the term faggot to describe what Klansman and Nazis and their ilk really are, I would never call someone like say, RuPaul such a derogatory term. Thirdly, what makes you think I'm out and out Rastafarian. Some of my belief system does reflect Rasta, yet some also relfects Christian, Hebrew and Islamic items. It's also very unfair to claim Rastafarians as anti-Semetic considering how much Rasta parallels Judaism, right down to the use of the Star Of David. If I was anti-Semetic, I would not waste 40 hours a week working for someone of the Jewish faith, and I would never have participated in seders that I was invited to. Fourthly, the only thing I termed righteous was me, in a sense. "Righteous Black Duck" happens to be my nickame, my music publishing company name, and my ego. It's a reference to Daffy Duck, for chrissakes! Fifthly, accusing me of intolerance is bullshit. The only thing I do not tolerate is racism, and there's nothing wrong with that. Sixthly, obviously I don't give a flying fuck what any KKK head thinks of anything anti-racists do, because as anti-racists we wre out to embarrass and eventually eradicate the perpetrators of such demonic rhetoric. Once these pinheads realize that there's more of us than there are of them, maybe they'll take a hint from their god Adolf and give head to a handgun. Finally, as long as this racist bullshit that the likes of you spouts keeps popping up anywhere, be it the Misfits Bible, the TLC maillist, or whereever, I intend to stomp the shit out of it by any means necessary. I suggest getting in touch with some European people and order the European Misfits Tribute album, "Hell on Earth...Hail to Misfits." It's got twice as many songs, and about 20 bands doing 1 or 2 songs. There is a good amount of diversity between these bands too, and some of the interpretations are downright amazing. It'll cost like $20 or something, I got in touch with a fellow MB reader myself. It's worth getting, you will not be disappointed. Nice racist nazi arguments going on. I've read just what was in the most recent bible, so I won't make any judgements. I agree with most people, take it somewhere else. It's interesting reading, but its clogging up the bible with un-Misfits stuff. For the record, a suprising amount of black people just don't like whites. They're not open or vocal about it, but they don't like white people. Music is a good medium to voice your opinions, and there are gangsta rappers out there who dispise any white person, no matter who they are. They will sing about it, and they are totally free to do so. I don't approve of that, nor do I approve of what these Nazi tpye bands are doing, but they have every right to do so. As long as these people don't bother me, I don't care what they do, as long as its not on this newsletter. --Dan-- Support your local music scene! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Feb 1997 09:23:37 -0330 (NST) From: Shaun Young Subject: members tribute album? what is the deal with this? our band does a couple of misfits tunes too. you name it. anyway, i'll check to see what one we'll record for it, but we are definetly UP for it! lets do it! sounds like a lot of fun(well gore and blood and guts to of course) no metta, shaun. ------------------------------ From: mk Subject: Re: Misfits Bible #302 Date: Fri, 28 Feb 1997 08:57:22 (EST) > From: WOLFER138@aol.com > >show from December 22, 1978. Hey Sean. That's a good point. I suspect that Glenn might have a copy of the show as well, since he must have given a copy of "Attitude" to Flipside Magazine for their 1984 compilation. It's possible that Jerry has given out copies, but usually that kind of stuff doesn't take long to surface. > From: DAVID TESTA > Subject: original metallica demo for sale > > was interested in an original Metallica demo tape. Well no, this isn't quite correct. The Whiplash EP was released by Megaforce in 1985, probably to finish off the band's contract with the label. By then they had already signed to Elektra. The EP doesn't feature any demos - it has the same version of Jump In The Fire and Anesthesia (which does not appear on the vinyl version) that are on Kill 'Em All. Whiplash (Neckbrace Remix) is a slight remix of the original version. The other 2 tracks are live tracks from '83 that originally appeared on the Jump In The Fire 12". This EP is probably one of the scarcest Metallica items, an
