Flood "Caroline" with requests to put out >"Maxs Xmas". > We can do this.... Even better . . . Tell them you want the original tapes with Bobby Steele on guitar - not the FAKE re-recorded version. No matter how bad it might be - technology exists that can fix almost anything without re-dubbing tracks. On top of that. CAROLINE has passed on the tapes that I've offered from September '79. We could combine the best of these 3 sets for a nice live CD. I'm even getting closer to that Halloween '79 video and the CBGB's audition video. >From: 00sbgibson@bsuvc.bsu.edu >Subject: Featuring Ex-Misfits? >I have been getting the bible for a long time now, and have never posted, >but the other day as I was packing up all my stuff after getting evicted >my apartment I found a flyer from a Sloppy Seconds show I went to a couple >ofyears ago. It made me think of something Bobby Steele posted in the bible >a while ago. >In #263 Bobby Steele said: >>ACT YOUR RAGE- a punk record that came out when punk was very unpopular- >>recieved limitless good reviews; while DELIVER US FROM EVIL (that's Jerry's >>record - the one with the "features ex-MISFITS", but Bobby and Glenn are >>banking on the name -sticker) was slammed. In fact, that CD did so poorly >>that Jerry had to resort to using the name of a band, that he had previously >>put down, in order to achieve any success. >Now, I'm not attacking Bobby in any way, but this flyer was advertising all >of the bands which were going to be at "Sloppy-Palooza," Which includes >"the Undead featuring ex-Misfits." Next to this claim were a number of >Crimson Ghost logos and a huge copy of the cover from WAU (did Bobby even >play on this album?). Now, I really don't think Bobby had anything to do with >this flyer, but it just goes to show that no matter how dead set against >being identified solely as a one time member of the Misfits you are, sometimes >you just can't control the way in which someone else might present you.Why not >give Jerry the benefit of the doubt and assume that he had about as much to do >with the stickers on the Kryst CDs as you did the advertising on this flyer? Let's get this straight. I am not, and have never been dead set against being identified as an EX-MISFIT. I'm proud of that past. I had nothing to do with THAT flyer, but I have always advertised EX-MISFITS for UNDEAD and TIMES SQUARE shows. Why not ? It's the truth. Jerry put out that KRYST CD with that EX-MISFITS sticker, while accusing me and Glenn of "banking off THE MISFITS name" - which he then went on to say he was beyond that. "I'm washing my hands" That's saying he wants no association whatsoever with THE MISFITS - no matter how you slice it. I would have had no objection to it, except he was so damned righteous about how he would never lower himself to such a level as to use the MISFITS name. He's nothing but a liar, hippocrate and he's conned a lot of loyal fiends out of their money. If you think he's so sincere - see if you can get him to do a benefit show. With all the money he's made off of last year's tours - you'd think he would be willing to do at least one. He's only in it for the money. I feel badly for Michale, CHUD and DOYLE. Unlike both Glenn and Jerry; I have always been proud of being a MISFIT. The ultimate proof is in the fact that I held on to my MISFITS memorabilia. Most of what you see in MISFITS CENTRAL was from my personal collection - and I still have plenty more . . . including the MAX'S XMAS poster and photographs that have never been published anywhere. Jerry has admitted to throwing away everything he had - including a copy of the Halloween 79 video. While they were both denouncing THE MISFITS; I was touring and keeping the legacy alive by playing MISFITS songs for our fiends. Jerry has just stepped in to reap the financial rewards for something that I have been the primary one responsible for keeping alive. Then he stole about $70,000.00 of my share of the $650,000.00 advance that CAROLINE paid for the box set. He did the same to Joey Image and Googie too. I hope this clarifies this matter. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 06 May 1997 00:13:33 +0200 From: Ruprecht Meyer zu Riemsloh Subject: misfits review 05/03/97 berlin Here's the review of the show on Saturday 3rd of May 1997 at the SO36 in Berlin !! Perhaps you want to know something about the place SO36. It is one of the most important clubs in Berlin's Hard Core/Punk/... scene. The Misfits were supported by Sardonica and Subzero. Sardonica sucked! I think they're pretty bad. You couldn't tell whether it is a new song or still the same as before. The drums were so dominant that you could hardly hear anything else. Well, Subzero was pretty good, I liked them a lot. The place was nearly sold out and a lot of people were there when they started playing. The last song was a cover song of Cro Mags which they dedicated to the Misfits for taking them on tour. The Intro of The Misfits was the same as last year and they started the show with Halloween. The crowd went wild and everyone was pushing to the stage. Michael Graves came on stage last and had a hat (zylinder?)on and his face and head was painted white with a black skull on his face which looked pretty erie/cool/crazy ! The show was fantastic, they were even playing better than they did last year, when I saw them the first time. They played for almost 90 minutes, lots of old songs and 5 or 7 new ones of the American psycho which will be released in Germany on the 05/14/ as far as I know. The new ones were better than I expected and everyone seemed to like them. But the most important thing was that Michael Graves improved so much compared to the show last year that I couldn't belive it. He must've worked very hard and sometimes I thought that he was going mad on stage because somehow he was acting like in a rage or something. I don't know perhaps he was on drugs but it was just unbeliveable. Oh, I have to quit now. Hope that's enough info and if you've some more questions just write! bye, Rupi ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 05 May 1997 19:16:39 -0400 From: Greg Paterson Subject: Geffen homepage Geffen has their Misfits homepage up and running with sound clips from American Psycho. The Philly Fugazi show was the most ludicrous event I have ever attended. I don't know whether to blame the venue or Philly but the two are inevitably intertwined. The crowd began to talk whenever the band played new material. The kids continued to crowd surf despite Ian's request for them not to roll on people's heads. I was embarassed to be from Philly. It was not the first time lately. I attended two NYC shows the nights before and there was no excuse for Philly's behavior. The shows in NYC lasted up to 2 1/2 hours with as many as three encores. The new songs especially "NO SURPRISE" were great. Philly doesn't know what it missed out on!!!!! So no I definitely don't think the MISFITS should play there during their summer tour... xDISCO INFERNOx P.S. If you don't like H2O for their music... fine. But don't hold them to some garbage hardcore ideal because no one is holding you to it. You only are responsible for yourself and therefore should only judge yourself. Foo Fighters "The Colour and the Shape"- May 27 on Capitol Now about the Misfits reforming. They aren't they only psuedo-punk band to reform after breaking up. There are actually numerous ones to speak of: 1. Sham 69- reformed in 1989 after breaking up in 1980. 2. X-Ray Spex- reformed in 1994. 3. Sex Pistols- reformed in 1996. 4. Blondie- reformed in 1995. 5. Clash- remured to be reforming 6. Damned- had broken and reformed many times. 7. Buzzcocks 8. Vibrators 9. Dictators 10. Television- reformed and broke up again in 1993. 11. Velvet Underground- reformed for European tour in early '90s 12. Stiff Little Fingers 13. The Fall 14. The Jam- also rumored to be reforming 15. 999 16. One was in a fanzine that reissued material from the T&G 7inch comp (one Necros track), there's been some reissues of the Necros 7inchers, though they've been semi-legitimate or unlegitimate. Though they were from master tapes if that means anything. As for the possiblity of stuff being reissued: Touch & Go was owned during that time period solely by Tesco Vee. However Tesco sold/gave T&G away, so i'm not really sure who owns the rights to the old releases on T&G. Never the less, since some of that other stuff has been reissued legitimately (Negative Approach, Meatmen, etc) then I dont see why the Necros cant. As for Gasatanka, that's a label owned by White Flag. If you notice, the Germs tribute is co-released by Gasatanka. Who knows who has the rights to Gasatanka material from back then, cause they had a pressing/distro deal with someone (i dont remember who, maybe Important?). Either way contracts back in those days were non-existant so i could be the bands holding it up , or the labels, or whatever. As for ChiPs.. that show sucked but i watched it when I was a kid. I dont think thats true. Everyone one here was bitchin about how much the CD box set cost. . the vinyl would run you even more as it takes alot more records to put out all those songs.. also the packaging would have to be alot larger, etc.. I could see the vinyl version list price at $100 exp now that vinyl is more expensive to do that it when it was the format of choice... and people here bitched about spending $60 on the box set.. I got your tape by the way .. will listen to it later this week .. and then have to lug my VCR over to my DAT to record it :( Opus (aka Michael) said "Don't get me wrong, I love the Misfits, I just CANNOT except what Jerry is doing" its ACCEPT (as in that hilariously funny band that sang about having their balls to the wall) not EXCEPT .... Lord Quitus said " And on the H2O issue, if Toby is SxE, and sings about SxE, why does he ridicule the SxE kids who come to see them." Because its so easy and fun to ridicule straightedgers .... just as much fun as it is to ridicule stoners or born again Xtians anyone else who wears their "religion" on their sleeve ... Mike Pennington then spoke "i found out that there was a demo version of Metallica's "The Four Horsemen " called "mechanix" written by Dave Mustaine, former guitar player and lead singer of Megadeth!!!" Mustaine used to be in Metallica .. back in the day so to speak .. before Kill 'Em All came out.. You say formerly of Megadeth .. did that band break up? Persephone then commented on the CHiPs punk rock episode ... Some of you may also remember there was a punk rock episode of 21 Jump St which starred Agent Orange (or at least their music) I dont know if the real band was in that show as I have never seen them live.. .From Hell The Came is coming along .. i have 30 songs so far ... and it appears that the way I will issue it is a 60 minute cassette and a 74 (or so) minute CD. The CD will contain extra tracks that the cassette will not have, but not vice versa (i.e. if you have the CD you will have all the tracks from the cassette). The reason for that is that people paying 3 times as much for the CD are entitiled to more .... and some of the best performances that don't make it to the tape will make it to the CD and they will be picked at Keith's and my discretion. Do to the space considerations of the 60 minute cassette, some bands that may have been promised 2 songs may only have one on the cassette. Everyone who submitted anything will have atleast ONE song on the cassette/CD. I'm trying to be as fair as possible for all of this while at the same time giving some extra recognition to the bands that really shined. Thoughts, comments and hate mail can be directed at me. At first i wasn't sure how long i would put off buying psycho, but now i won't! As for the music, all i can say is "sunday, monday... happy days!" ;) Well, ok, maybe not like that, but the new stuff sounds almost like a cross between the misfits and happy days, or eddie and the cruisers or some shit. Just take some old music and speed it up! I liked it though. Listening to it, i thought an evil elvis voice would have kicked ass, but some songs i think can stand without it easily. I hope the rest of the album is that cool.... and I'm sorry you all had to read my cheesy premature review of some 18 second sound clips! Nick B. by the way, maybe im dense or something, but did anybody answer my question about prong covering london dungeon and what danzig thought about it??? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 06 May 1996 14:06:41 -0400 From: aaron pacitti Subject: american i just got a copy of the american psycho promo, and it really aint that bad music wise...but im sorry to say this, it isnt the misifts. there are a few songs that have the true misfits spirit, but if you put them up against any pre 1983 songs, they just pale in comparison. even the best songs on the album still can compare to horror business or martian. its sad that these guys are trying to be the misifts. they arent. the AP demo is great. but it is not the misifts. jerry may own the name, but he doesnt have anything else. the music is wonderful, but not for a band called the misifts. jerry knew what he was doing with this, and it turned out perfectly. aaron ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 06 May 1996 14:02:15 -0400 From: aaron pacitti Subject: mr. naked dave naked, i couldnt agree with you more! well said. i think someone is trying to pull a quick one on us fiends. whether its jerry, glenn, caroline or who the fuck ever, they are simply cashing in on the fact that 90% of the people on this list will buy anything with the misifts name on it. why dont they throw the other 4 or 5 "unrecorded songs" that miraculously surface at convientent times on 7" and sell it for $4. that is doing something for the fans. then they could get the maxs xmas out on a LP and sell that for $10. i know someone has the original tape in their possesion. i dont wanna hear doyle overdubs. half the reason that show was so incredible was because of bobbys work. hey, maybe they will hold that until the next misfits album comes out, or make some deluxe package and charge $65 for two songs. until whoever does that, i will say whoever is holding this shit out on us is in it for the money. and out of curiosity, what did jerry do to get doyle to join the new misifts cover band? aaron ------------------------------ From: "JeanC,SrA,49CS/SCBBS" Subject: .WAV's & misc. Sounds like this album is gonna' live up to the band's name and the hoopla surrounding it all. Tammy - what's up with the flame-baiting? Didn't you praise the issue that Mark put out trying to get rid of all that? Sounds like now you're encouraging it from Blag. Yeah he took the first step...why not try and go above what he did and get past it all already. I think Bobby Steele can hold his own and stick up for himself if he feels the need to. Otherwise why not drop it and stop tellin the war stories? No, this isn't a flame or an attempt to make you look bad. But it appears you're the one who's not lettin it die..... Yeah, he made his first post pretty noticeable, but the times square review he gave really wasn't anything different from anyone else giving album reviews, and didn't mention your name once. And that CHiPs episode was hillarious! I saw it a few years back. Got to see a show at the legendary CBGB's, and yes it was Adam West. Jake and the guys played a shorter set than usual, but it was 2 o'clock in the fucking morning! All is forgiven. Stopped in at Kim's on St. Mark's and found not one, but two, used copies of 'Dawn of the Undead'. I've never seen even a new copy of this in DC. Sunday was a bad day. I went to Staten Island with the expressed purpose of going to Wu-Wear, the clothing store owned by the rap group Wu-Tang Clan. It was closed on Sundays. Not only that, it was closed until later this month for renovations. So, I was in a bad mood. Then I saw something that got me really pissed off. Some Pro-Life mother-fucker decided it would be a good idea to put a graphic bloody picture on a billboard, right across from a child care center! ERRRRRRRRR! Sorry, unMisfits related, it just pissed me off. >i have noticed that Metallica's "The Four Horseman" >of the "Kill 'em All" album sounds a bit too similar >to Megadeth's "Mechanix" of the "killing is My >business and business is GOOD!" album. >i found out that there was a demo version of >Metallica's "The Four Horsemen " called "mechanix" >written by Dave Mustaine I know somewhere I have a boot of Metallica playing Mechanix live. Is the official release cover of American Psycho going to be in full colour? (As depicted in a small ad in the new ALTERNATIVE PRESS [with the L7 cover], and also in a full-page ad on the inside back-cover if the new METAL MANIACS) Oris the cover completely coloured in red? (As in the METAL EDGE that came out a few weeks ago). Personally, the all-red version looks cooler. 2. I was told that a cd for the Ozzfest tour is supposed to come out on the 26th of May (or close to it) and will have at least one Danzig song, as well as one (or more) from each of the other bands that participated. True? 3. Someone complained about Caroline's upcoming release of STATIC AGE, which "mysteriously" contains thepreviously-thought -to-be-never-recorded "In the Doorway." Mark already explained why the song was never included on the box-set, (because Caroline had not yet received the master tape from Glenn), and I remember him telling me the same thing over a year ago -- so it has nothing to do with Caroline's greed. Why do you think they used Franche' Coma's mixing tape for Disc Four, rather than the superior master tape in Glenn's possession? Because they never had Glenn's copy until after the box-set was already in production. Also, if you feel you are being swindled in being "forced" to buy the new release for only one song, remember that it also contains unreleased, undubbed mixes of the 1/78 "She" and "Spinal Remains." When the box-set came out, everyone was freaking about how much greater the original SA mixes were than the LOB ones -- well, now you'll get 2 more originals. -Brett ------------------------------ From: DamagedInc@aol.com Date: Tue, 6 May 1997 15:37:41 -0400 (EDT) Subject: VERY cool Misfits sighting I don't know if it's been posted yet due to my leave of absence, but in Chasing Amy (part 3 of Kevin Smith's New Jersey trilogy, Clerks and Mallrats being first) there's a scene in a music stoe. The first gig was held at Tullikamari, Tampere. People were invited to sing with Graves and lots of stage diving etc... Really good gig. Jerry said that although there weren't as much crowd as in the gigs in the UK but the gig was better cuz people were so crazy. A Finnish tv-show called "Jyrki" (the biggest show for teens in Finland) interviewed Jerry after the gig and the interview came out yesterday (5/6/97). It was only a five minute-clip, but it's good that bands like Misfits can get some time in a TV-show. The other gig was in Lepakko, Helsinki. I met Jerry and the boys after the gig in the backstage. They signed my ep's and cd's. Jerry is really a cool guy and he has a good sense of humour, I gave him "Jerry's Now 38"-lyrics (made by Tony the Tool, greetings to you) and he laffed a lot. The gig wasn't so cool because there were fascist guards who didn't let the crowd to go to the stage. No stage diving... Fuck! Anyways, the crowd was mad at them. I had my mom's camera with me but it didn't work. Fortunately my loved friend Tiina took many pics and I can have them. She took some pics of me and Jerry and so on... I dont want to get started on a vinyl vs CD discussion (i do have a good turntable), especially on the Misfits Bible where most people couldnt give a shit, and this topic is beat to death on regular basis on REC.MUSIC.HIGH.END. Whether vinyl is "cooler" than a CD is really subjective, and i'm sure nostalgia for a simpler time rears its head in these debates, but if you look at the frequency response, dynamic range, longevity, ease of use, etc ... digital recordings perform better ... the numbers don't lie. As far as what people PREFER to listen to, that has no bearing, as neither analog NOR digital give a true represention of the original recorded event ... that has been proved by countless tests in which an LP, a CD and the master tape were all compared and in all cases, the master tape was superior. Both LP and CD have their strengths and weaknesses, and to say one is "better" than the other is really more of a matter of taste. ... In any case, Misfits recordings don't tax the upper limits of either format ..... you prefer LP, I prefer CD .... thats what makes America great .. freedom of choice .. whoever else wants to join this debate ... email me in private .. but dont waste my time AZ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 07 May 1997 15:30:02 -0400 From: Craig <@iglou.com:> Subject: 138..and why other things don't make sense This is my First look at the misfits bible and I could not possibly read all the post so if some of this stuff has been said already forgive me.. As for as what "we are 138"! means...I couldn't tell you, if you listen to it backwards the amessage becomes clear however; "YA he doesnt want you...." over and over followed by "your god your god" This also explains why other things don't make much sense because there are many "backward messages" on the misfits albums. Walk Among Us is an example of a master piece of backwards messages. In sculls for example "I want your sculls" is "Destroyer come out" And Twenty eyes is "I freed my anal" over and over. If you don't believe me just put the CD in you computer and capture a wav. of a some part of a song(especially a part that they singing stuff that doesnt make sense) then using you wav maker reverse it...Several of the songs are quite nice backwards as well as forwards. Ps..i have aways like to think that on "138" he says "we are 138" and some times "we are one diry ape" which would make more sence anyway.... ________________ Marduke 3;> |Criag 3;> ________________| ------------------------------ Date: 7 May 97 16:19:00 EDT From: AZawodny@mobile.bam.com Subject: money Hey Bobby. ... where is my peice of the $650,000??? :) az ------------------------------ From: Misfits555@aol.com Date: Wed, 7 May 1997 16:30:50 -0400 (EDT) Subject: looking for vinyl Greetings I am looking the Earth AD caroline repress on vinyl and for a Halloween 7" bootleg. They know I want one and they know they'll be gone by the time they play San Fransisco. I already have bone gloves. Are they going to have more to sell on the U.S. tour? I went to a comic convention 2 weeks ago and it sucked. it was 80,000 square feet but I couldn't find verotik comics anywhere. maybe a Jaguar God 1 or 2 here and there but it sucked. I ended up getting a reprinting of the Mars Attacks card set, The Soundtrack to Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2, about 10 FMOFL magazines and some other things. Does anyone know of some issues of Famous Monsters (Tammy??) that has pictures of the Crimson Ghost? I know issue 54 has a full page picture of him with his arm around Linda Serling. Does anone know where the old Crimson ghost masks came from? Famous Monsters? I know Glenn had like 3, but he has 2 now because he gave one to this kid I know. At the convention I saw this guy running his booth that I know that knows Glenn. Glenn gave his son a Crimson Ghost mask and an autographed band picture of Danzig and I think the Misfits. His son is going to start working for Verotik soon. He wants to me to to the San Diego Comic Con in July so he can introduce me to Mr. Glenn He told me that Glenn have him a spiked bicep band that Glenn used to wear under his shirt when he was started to get big, he said Glenn would flex and it would pop off. Does anyone know anything about this? I've never seen pictures of this. IT must have been late Samhain. Dave was their first guitar player (before Kirk) and was given credit for writing on "Kill 'Em All" and "Ride The Lightning" If you are into Metallica find the album 'cause it is kinda wierd to hear "Mechanix" after hearing 4 horsemen for lo-so-many years. Last time I checked, Metallica was the big name band that endlessly plugged the unholy hell outta The Misfits, leading to the conversion of a whole slew of new fiends, myself included. Not to knock what you were doing, or the fiends that were fiends before Metallica even existed, but I think it is fairly well-established that Metallica pretty much single-handedly brought about the revolution that led to a more widespread acceptance of how great The Misfits were, leading to the much bigger following that the 'fits enjoy today. It's kinda like something that Jerry once said, that Metallica led a lot of people to The Misfits, but The Misfits were the ones who kept the new fans because they didn't suck. Point being though is that if you ask me, Metallica is primarily responsible for keeping it alive by bringing in new fiend blood. (And don't bother to respond with something stupid like "No one asked you.") > So, when you complain about the Misfits coming back for money, it not their > fault because it is really just a current trend in music. But just because it's a current trend in music doesn't mean it's not open for scrutiny. Ultra-cool and sleazy flick about big city sex addict 6) Beneath the Valley of the Dolls (1970) Sex, drugs, bisexuality, and a grand beheading with a sword... 7) Blacula (1972) It doesn't get campier than this, guys 8) Blood Feast (1963) The one that started it all...that blood looks so FAKE 9) Blood Orgy of the She-Devils (1974) See it for the title and the busty babes 10) Bloodsucking Freaks (1975) I can't help but love it...torture, blood, cruelty 11) The Brainiac (El Baron Del Terror) (1961) Probably the first horror movie I ever saw, it brings a tear to my eye. Being of Hispanic origin, I am very fond of Mexican horror and prefer the Spanish version. Awful paper mache mask, long forked tongue, and bad English dubbing make this a MUST 12) Bride of the Monster (1956) Poor Bela..you can almost smell the death on him here, but he is great nonetheless I am only listing movies made before 1976 since I would hope you have seen anything after that year. Also, I downloaded the 8 wav files from Scooter's Homepage, and, so far, I really like what I hear! I have to admit--it's quite different, but the catchiness and campy horror style doesn't seem to have left them. If this is the case on the whole album, then it's a winner in my book! I'll make sure to review American Psycho, the Violent World tribute, and the 4 Hits From Mars tribute for the next issue of Vibrations of Doom Webzine www.kmf.org/~cl/vod_home.html Oh, and don't worry about Rolling Stone. If I'm not mistaken, you see how Natalie Merchant's CD "Tigerlily" was way up there in the charts, even though they gave it a star and a half (I know, this really has nothing to do with the Misfits, but it's almost the same case--at least to me it is). One more thing--something to ponder on here. I think one reason why Glenn would not get back together with the Misfits is because they are on Geffen Records. I remember him saying in an interview several years ago (around the time of Lucifuge) that he hated David Geffen and did not want to deal with him. His opinion, I guess. I think the Misfits are better off without him. Let's face it--it's a new band, a new beginning, but it's all in the same vein! Well, there's probably been a million postings about the show in Vanersborg, but I've been having comp problems for a while now, so I haven't read any. Here's my views on the event in question. This evening fucking rocked, man. A lot of bands, mostly hardcore though. Come to think of it, it was only hardcore with a couple of exceptions. The first bands I missed, but what the hell. I was there for the Misfits. The final three bands (Integrity, Refused and The Misfits) played full sets. Refused, the second last band, had a cool comment about playing in between Intetgrity and Misfits: "...we end up playing between the tough guys and the _really_ tough guys..." The audience laughed... After the Refused show, I got my records, which I had brought in case I would have the chance to talk to the Misfits, and placed myself outside the backstage area. The security guy who would keep guys like me out of the backstage area said I wasn't going to get a chance to come in. We'll see about that... Finally, I spot Jerry in there and calls out to him and asks if the guys could sign some stuff. No problem, just come on in. I try to get in, but the guard, who looked quite annoyed that I bothered the main band just 20 mins before the show, stops me. Then Jerry comes to the rescue! "Hey, let him in. Just this one." The guard just shrunk to about 2 inches in height and let me in... Ha! In your face, muthafucka! Jerry was cool as hell, and took me into the Fits dressing room, where all the guys signed my entire vinyl collection + my jacket. They were very cool to talk with. One of the organizers wanted to take some pictures and even asked me to be in the picture with the Fits. Unfortunately I said I wasn't part of the crew. Dammit! After that I left and let Jerry keep my gold pen, since he asked if he could keep it. On the way out I just laughed at the security guard. The show fuckin killed every concert I've been to. The songs, of course, were excellent. The guys really gave it all they got, and they looked really happy. The crowd just went fucking nuts and sang along to all the old songs, and even to the refrain in a couple of the new songs. The only song I missed was "She", but what the hell. I had gotten my stuff signed, so I was just happy as shit. The guys came back for an encore, and finished off with "DDMD". Then Doyle threw his neck sweatband into the crowd. With a fucking acrobatic jump I caught it! Man, was I in heaven! Then the guys left for Stockholm I believe, 'cause they didn't stay on stage afterwards. I received a number of hugs and kisses by fiends who "wanted to share my joy of catching the sweatband". Nice :) All in all, a fucking great evening. If any of the fiends out there gets hold of a video of the show, I gotta have it! Well, that's my 2 cents. Hope you could bear with me, since this was a little late, I presume. Fuck it up! Well i was listening to the undead yesterday, and i realized that Glenn was not the only misfit to mumble lyrics. At one time, before i had bought "Act your rage" on vinyl, i had no lyric sheet. I remember singing the lines of "Eve of Destruction", like: "You can eat your next door neighbor, but don't forget to say grace." and "Even the Jordan river has violent floodings, but you tell me...." and many other Misfits/undead/samhain songs. Michale also does this. I got the Amer. Psycho promo a couple of weeks ago, and it sounds like Mike says: "Don't open till tuesday, the instructions, my father wait!" (Don't open Till Doomsday) Just to add my two cents, American Psycho is fucking awesome! A lot better than i had expected. Every song sounds great. There are no filler songs on this album, and no off the wall songs (except for "Day of the Dead"), which is awesome anyway. I'm sure alot of people are going to compare that song to "Amer. Nightmare", but oh well. I remember at the 10-30-96 Memory Lane show, where they played "Amer. Psycho", (instead of "the haunting" as requested by me. Jerry gave me some lame excuse after the show like it's hard for Michale to sing it live or something. I think he was kidding.) and thinking how good of a song AP was, but on the CD it's even better. Overall the whole CD flows perfectly. Personally i love the new Misfits. And dare i say it, but i think this may be one of the best, if not the best Cd's the misfits have ever put out. Don't get me wrong, I love the old stuff, and "Static Age" will probabaly always remain my favorite. Besides I've invested too much money into 7"s and 12"s to not like them. Don't flame me for this it's just my opinion. But don't take my word for it. Go buy the CD on tuesday, and see if you agree with me. Also check out Geffen's page, it's great. www.geffen.com What's up with Doyle von Frankenstein? Does anyone know what the bonus song on the vinyl of AP is going to be? If you check out mark's page he list's about 4 or 5 songs that were recorded for this album, that are not going to be on AP. Like Angel Baby, Death of the fallen angel, Talons of steel, etc. And what about the 7 songs recorded last year, and the two Iggy Pop tunes? I guess all things in good time right. -Later Drew Alcoholocaust ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 09 May 1996 12:24:17 -0400 From: aaron pacitti Subject: NEW to everyone who i have outstanding deals with or anyone who will need my address... my new email addy is npacitti@msn.com ================ please mail me at that one to check up. aaron ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 May 1997 00:39:20 -0500 From: tes777@bridge.net (Tammy S.) David, well the phone # for Taang is 619-499-5156, i tried e-mailing them, but there is still something wrong with the e-mail from their web page. Also, Taang is no longer in MA, they are now in CA. By the way, posted on the web page is the location of their store, yes they have a store that sells classic vinyl as they put it. Just to clear some stuff up, i usually do not flame fiends for no reason what so ever. there is a reason, if you have been reading the bible since last year and knew the on going bullshit from Blag. otherwise and please don't take this as a personal attack, please take your nose out of this situation. I really feel no need to justify what i say to anyone, again there is reason and has nothing to do with protecting Bobby, he can do a nice job of that on his own. Misfits 101... Record Conventions... plus some other stuff Well as we hit the weekend again its time for some record cons. May 10, Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Louisville, KY; Lewiston-Aubum, ME; Wayne, NJ; NYC, NY; Charlotte, NC; Greenville; OH (10 - 11); Chambersburg, PA; May 11, St. Paul, MN; Lancaster, PA. that is it, and just a reminder so that i don't get lots of e-mail asking if these are tour dates for the Misfits in the US again. THis is the deal, these dates are for RECORD CONVENTIONS, if you want to go just e-mail me the city you want to go to and i will give you the info (time, admit fees, and addresses). Best bet, go when it first opens, keep yourself level headed, ie don't go nuts from seeing all the tables and boxes of records, start with the first table and go through the records, also ask the dealers if they have anything from the Misfits, Samhain, Danzig or whatever you really want. don't get over worked when you ask and they say yes. its a bad version of playing poker, you don't want to lead them on and then have them jack up the price. or worse, they have no clue the value and you triger their minds, wait this stuff might be worth something. Plus the usual, if you see something you want, decide then and there with the record or what not in hand. once you put that puppy down kiss it goodbye. We have talked trading before, but not what would be an equal trade for a Misfits record. If i was trading a copy of Cough/Cool, what would you give me? What non Misfits record is worth the quaoted $425? Think about it, and this will be on Monday's Bible. What is an equal trade for Misfits records, ie. Misfits 101! I don't have any exact quotations, but if I'm wrong, then all of that "Christian righteousness message" he was preaching against the evil of the Misfits and Samhain was either the product of dementia, or a joke. As for Glenn, he seems ready to talk about the Misfits, under the right circumstance. (ie: don't walk up to him and start asking about 15 year-old news). > > touring and keeping the legacy alive by playing MISFITS songs for our Samhain and Danzig also performed Misfits songs regularly, at least until Danzig had enough original material of their own. > > fiends. Jerry has just stepped in to reap the financial rewards for Well, you obviously believe that Jerry's refounding of the band is more than coincidental with the recent retro-punk explosion, and the financial gains he stands to make are obvious. However, many people seem to overlook the fact that Jerry couldn't reform the band until he had the legal rights to the name -- in March of 1994. (? Mark, correct date?) > > something that I have been the primary one responsible for keeping alive. ??? No offense Bobby, but prior to hooking up with Mark, I never knew that you and the Undead were still around. Nor, I think, did most of the people currently into the Misfits. If anything kept the Misfits' legacy alive, it was Glenn's (re-)release of Misfits records, his continued production of Misfits t-shirts, the success of Danzig, and the support of Metallica. Now it's time for 10-15 idiots to post messages bragging how they were around for the original Misfits in the early '80s, or how they discovered the band through some non-Danzig, non-Metallica, non-mainstream way. Too bad such people are very insignificant drops in a vast ocean. > x> Then he stole about $70,000.00 of my share of the $650,000.00 advance > > that CAROLINE paid for the box set. I don't claim to know anything about Caroline or the record-company business, but wouldn't they have to make the cheques payable to each individual member? If so, how could Jerry exert any influence over anyone else's share? Also, it's no one's business but yours, but I find it hard to believe that the individual Misfits (or Caroline for that matter) made that much money off the box-set. I especially find it difficult to believe that the members got that much since only Glenn appeared on every song on the set, and he gets double (40%) of what the others do. (Although he, too, claims to have received nothing). > > From: gorgo > > don't worry too much about rolling stone giving american psycho one > > and a half stars. when danzig 1 came out, it only got one star. Wrong. Three and-a-half stars, and the absolute only criticism the reviewer made of the album was that Albert King was not credited for writing "The Hunter." But this is totally irrelevant anyway, since Rolling Stone probably employs many album-reviewers, especially over the nine-year period that separates Danzig and American Psycho. Album reviews (or anything else you read) are the opinion of the individual author, not a corporate entity. -Brett ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 May 1997 00:30:20 -0400 (EDT) From: BF Subject: Re: Misfits Bible #332 > From: tes777@bridge.net (Tammy S.) > well i hate to break your heart Tim, but the version of Green Hell that > was on "MONDAY" and only monday, was the original 1940 version with > Vincent Price and Douglas Fairbanks Jr. not the one about the giantWasps. > Though if you read the lyrics to the song, i don't think that Glenn was > reffering to a movie about giant wasps. Of course, we all know that the lyrics to "Green Hell" (and most other EAD songs) that are in the box-set are 80% wrong, so we'll never know to what Glenn was referring. On another note, not necessarily related to any issue of the Bible in particular, I must say this: There is way too much useless, totally unrelated garbage on the Bible. This has been going on for well over a year now, and although most of the flaming stopped after Mark tried to clean the Bible up a few months ago, it still takes me a good 1/2 hour to sift through the pointless messages, most of which are filled with horrid spelling and indecipherable nonsense. I am a fast reader, and it takes that long, sometimes longer. Worse, I come away with little or nothing of value that I didn't already read elsewhere. People seem to be obsessed with posting their idiotic stories, theories, and and jokes; everything from an uninteresting anecdote about how some "poseur" at some school dares wear a Misfits shirt, as to how many incidents in which the average moron can uncover the number 138 in a given day. It was never funny the first time, and it's just getting older and stupider. Misfits, Undead, Samhain, Danzig, Chyna, Bighouse, etc. -- all of these qualify for inclusion in the Misfits Bible. Metallica, Motley Crue, and the tv show CHIPS do not -- or at least do so only in *extremely* limited circumstances. When I say "limited" I mean that a Metallica reference better be centered around them covering Misfits songs, or appearing on-stage at a Samhain show, etc -- if you are reasonably intelligent, then you get the picture. Mark, you said you don't want to censor postings. Don't censor; edit. There is a difference. Eliminating pointless junk is not censorship, since you would not be excluding posts on the basis of the opinions they present, but rather on whether those opinions are of interest to the average reader of this list. Like it or not, you started the list, and you are its editor. Just a suggestion. -Brett ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 09 May 1997 12:41:52 +0100 From: Jake Starr Subject: MARK! mark, the washington city paper just anounced the misfits playing at the 9:30 club on july 3 with d-generation and damnation a.d. opening. so much for letting local bands open for them on the road! now i'm pissed! -- * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Jake Starr/ADAM WEST * Fandango Records * 1805 T Street, NW #A * Washington, DC 20009-7128 * (202) 483-0065 * e-mail: jyas@loc.gov * http://www.access.digex.net/~yield/adamwest.html * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ------------------------------ From: David Marek Subject: Pushead Discog/Comics Date: Fri, 9 May 1997 10:26:00 -0500 Two items for ya today. I talked to the guy who says he's going to be the singer but he has no band, just himself. That was a while back so if he has a band now then maybe it's true, but I doubt it. Anyone out there who actually knows Steve Zing, can you ask him and let us all know if this guy is for real? Or better yet, ask Glenn if he can sing as good as he did. The episode your talking about is hilarious. It contains a line that goes something like, "Don't you know you'll never amount to anything if you keep listening to that garbage?" To which I reply, "Really? Hmmm, well I graduated from college, got a job at the US Senate, and I live on my own." One of my traveling partners from last year's summer tour just finished up her Master's Degree and is going for a PhD next year. Gosh, I hope we amount to 'something' someday. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 May 1997 18:04:20 -0700 From: R Hinojos Subject: three years three years? oofa! time flies something something... thanks, Mark, for Misfits Central. ryqman ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 May 1997 20:07:22 -0400 From: shro@ptdprolog.net (Droog) Subject: chips and quincy >Date: Wed, 7 May 1997 21:35:47 -0500 (CDT) >From: nick winkleback >Subject: Re: Misfits Bible #331 > >Hey, > > Speaking of the punk rock Chips episode, I could be wrong, but >there may also have been an episode of Quincy with something about punk >music and slam dancing in it too. Thats in case anyone gives a damn pete =============================== "Each one of us, in his timidity, has a limit beyond which he is outraged. It is inevitable that he who by concentrated application has extended this limit for himself, should arouse the resentment of those who have accepted conventions which, since accepted by all, require no initiative of application. And this resentment generally takes the form of meaningless laughter or criticism, if not persecution. I am so glad, I thought that me and my friend's addresses had got lost or something. I thought that it would be here by now, it's been like three weeks since they were sent! I want my newsletter too! If one of those people that wrote about not getting thier fiend club newsletter gets it soon let me know. Lastly, the debate of Philly between the Troc and the Electric Factory Hmmmm for the Misfits Definatly the Troc. I has just the right kind of atmosphere.
