Big typo error - 1-201-764-3700 is the correct #.

By the way fiends, I saw Times Square in Richmond on Friday May 31st
and they put on a great show for the crowd there. They headlined
with about 6 bands opening for them as part of a big music
festival that was going on all weekend.

Bobby, Jill, and Dave were all a lot of fun to talk to, and we all
(EVB and D-Rod too) went on to a diner with terrible service whose
owners will probably fear New Yorkers for the rest of time.

Make sure to check out Times Square live - Bobby's bass is
mysteriously (!) about 10 times better live than on the
album. He and Jill really seem to have a lot of fun up onstage.

Also, please don't send mail to bible-fiends@plan-9.com - this is an
address that bounces mail to everyone on the mailing list and is only
supposed to be used for the actual bibles, as opposed to any mail.
I believe I have the problem fixed so it won't happen in the future.
We'll see about that.

Finally, I got back from NY a bit early, so we only had to miss
Monday's issue.

occurs every year before halloween. The problems that detroit had with

The cops cracked down with 6pm curfews, combinded with neiborhood

Was this post from the Rocky, Jerry and Doyle's bro? It sure sounds like it.

Of course I'm sick of people pissing and moaning, but the only time I really
see Bobby posting in relation to the case is when someone brings it up to him.

And I don't mind when Bobby brings up Jerry's cockrock attitude. I find it
quite humourus myself.

oh... one more thing: I'd take Undead over the NewFits anyday... and they are
certainly less Cock Rock! :)

Last issue somebody asked who we would rather see on MTV, the Spice
Girls or the Misfits. Sorry man, but I think those spice girl videos
are pretty cool. I would rather watch 5 half naked chicks that 4 half
naked guys. I mean, it's cool that the Misfits are making a video,
but I dont think MTV would be the coolest place for it. Also, does
anyone out there think "Dont Open Til Doomsday" is about the
Hellraiser movies? Just curious. Also, I was wondering if someobody
could help me out here. IF the band decided to release a live record
under Geffen, would they be aloud to perform old songs? I think this
would be a kick ass idea. That way we could hear Michale sing the old
shit.

Yesss, I thought as much. Or at least, there seemed to be a shocking
numerological coincidence in my "little black book" here... until I saw
this:

>ok fiends this is what happend
>1. i tryed calling the number for the Saber company to get the Cg mask
>2. no one was there i left a message
>3. they called back asking for me i wasnt home( i think it was the saber
>company)
>4. i called them back
>5. a VERY ANGERY man picked up and screamed at me for awhile

This might explain a weird discrepancy. Can it be that the Saber Inc.
company information has a TYPO? As long as you're calling innocent people
in the middle of the night and pissing them off asking for "Saber Inc."
anyway, why don't you try: (201) 764-3700. I'm thinkin' the 6 and the 4
got reversed in print... (it's printed as 746 on all the flyers I've got,
but I wrote it down by hand as 764 and I know I've talked to Rocky on the
phone before...)

i just wanted to say i got my ticket today to see the misfits on july
2nd...the tour schedule lists them as playin in norfolk at the
riverview...this was the information i got here as well...but when i
went to buy my ticket it had been changed to virginia beach at
peabodys...i guess this is a definite thing since my ticket DOES have
peabodys printed on it...this sucks in some ways coz the riverview is a
much better place to see a band...but then again peabodys is just a
short walk down the street from my house...so it's more convenient...but
honestly i'd rather give up convenience for a better venue...especially
the riverview...it's an old theatre which has had the seats ripped out
so with the slanted floor the view is EXCELLENT no matter where you end
up...well i guess since it's not gonna be at the riverview that last bit
doesn't make any difference...*grim*...anyway i just thought if anyone
was plannin on seein em in the norfolk/va beach area they might want to
know about the change....

[mephisto waltz]

in the articles section, an interviewer asks Glenn about any upcoming
  Samhain singles.

Byron: So after the 12" you wanna do 10"?
Glenn: Yeah, it'll probably be something off the 12" plus a non-LP b-side...
just because I wanna do a 10" -- only about a thousand of them.

"non-LP b-side" = "mephisto waltz"? or something that was intended for the
first album, but made its way to the Unholy Passion EP? but later:

Byron: Is there more material you recorded for Initium that hasn't
       come out yet?
Glenn: No, that's all there is.

hmmm... Glenn contradicting himself in the same interview.

  Cry about me

they're stealing his musical ideas, too. =)

Does anybody know if the Misfits are coming through Lawrence Ks (or
around the area), soon?

By the way, why doesn't everyone stop all the arguing about AP. Can't
we just enjoy the music, and be happy that the Misfits are back!

I do agree, AP is not as good. It has way to much metal and not enough
old Misfits sounds. I don't know, maybe it's just to hard to take
without Glenn(although he was and is a prick).

The only exception is that seein the new misfits live is really good.. I

really good.. But then they released this AP piece of dog shit..
Hopefully they will speed up the songs live and get rid of the religious

Greetings Fiends. I saw a legitimate Misfits type sighting. On the
cartoon "Real Monsters" on Nickelodeon (sp) this past saturday (May 31), one
of the humans was wearing a Captain Harlock shirt. He was breaking into a
pedicurist shop with a friend when Oblina, Crum and Ickus scared them off.
Now I know what you're thinking. "What is this fool doing watching
cartoons." I like 'em. I may be an old codger compared to most people on
here, but I still love to watch animated things.

BTW, for any fiends in the Akron, Oh area, The Highland Theatre on
W. Market street will be showing the "House of Wax in 3-D" with Vincent
Price sometime in the near future. I spoke to an employee sat night, and he
said it should be within the next 4-6 weeks. If interested, e-mail me, and
I'll let you know when it will be showing. This is a grand old theatre, not
one of those crappy new theatres with the TV size screens.

                        Stay Sick!

hello fiends,
well i just got back from richmond where I got to see Times square
finally! I had seen them rehearse but never play a show. I will keep this
post as short as possible but I willjust say they kicked ass. Very
professional never a slip in the entire set. The music was loud and fast
with great rythm and great singing. Bobby takes the mic for prts of the
songs and his bass playing is amazing, dave ari's drum are perfect. I
remember wtching them rehearse and i couldnt get it out of my how good that
guy is, and I really dont pay attention to the drums I mean i listen the
overall song how it sounds together. But they are great people and live
for their music, their integrity is strong. Imade a four hr trip just o
see them and It was all worth it. EVB and mark made it to the show as well
and we all got the new Times Square t-shirts ( which are great looking
shirts) and our cd's signed. The CD now, I had stayed away from the CD cuz
I thought to myself "well bobby didnt play on it so I dont want it" But I
am glad I have it now I cant the songs out of my head i have brought to
work and every one loves this disc! My 2 favs are learn it and head
shrinker. I cant even imagine how amazing the next disc will be with the
new songhs and bobby doing back ups and bass!

hey fiends!

howdy, what's going on. I went to see the rollins band last night (june
1) in seattle, and they rocked. Afterwards I met henry and the band
(except for chris) and we talked to them about various things. I asked
about the motley crue thing, but since it had already been reported I
won't get into that again. they were all really cool. and signed my cd
sleeve, my ticket, and a promo poster that i took off the wall. I was a
great time. go see them if you get the chance. it will be worth your while.

Look at past issues of the bible to see my sale list.

To the several subscribers who re-received the Bible from me last week: my
apologies. My modem frequently disconnects itself for some reason,
and when it does, random commands are sometimes entered into the program
(that is the reason for the scrambled stuff in the messages you got from
me). I believe what happened was that the "reply" command was entered;
when I choose to send a reply to the Bible, I am given an option to send
it via Mark, or directly to each person who received the original message
-- and this evidently happened.

Some of you emailed me with strange and creative ideas or questions for
why I may have re-sent the issue, but I assure you, it was purely
unintentional -- there is no hidden significance. To those of you who
don't know what I'm talking about, if you have a message from me in your
mailbox that says "Re: Misfits Bible, #340", you can ignore it.

Sorry about the confusion...

Format change?? Here is my theory...

1: anyone who sends mail to bible-fiends@plan-9.com will have mail sent
out on a list to everyone on the misfit bible.. Very much like a mailing
list server. I'm not sure if this is the future of the bible.. actually it
may be better.. easier to delete worthless posts. Though the current
bible digest format is good too.

2: I think we should stop posting to bible-fiends until we find out what
the deal is on the misfit bible. Otherwise you'll just have alot of
annoyed people who think they are getting spam, when in reality your
getting the misfit bible posts as they are sent. Whether this is the way
to go or not.. again.. let's keep it to the bible until we find out the
agenda of the list.

3: any questions regarding this mailing list should be sent to the misfit
bible not this list.. at least until we find out what's up. All
discussion about this listserver should be sent to the misfit bible to
avoid future duress.

I agree that their should be some kind of formal announcement or
something.. and finding oneself on a misfit list server is a bit uhmm...
confusing.

Oh well..

Kuder" Subject: American Psycho review. Here is a review of American Psycho from Cleveland's Scene magazine: The Misfits AMERICAN PSYCHO Geffen The ghouls are back. Over a decade elapsed since vocalist Glenn Danzig quit the Misfits to chart his solo career. And his dark, macabre metal albums -- including DANZIG, LUCI-FUGE, and the recent BLACKACIDEVIL -- have all enjoyed success. But whatever happened to his fellow 'Fits? Ask no more. Like the vampires and zombies often depicted in classic Misfits songs, bassist Jerry Only resurrected the Lodi, New Jersey group in 1995 and determined to keep the legend alive -- with or without Danzig. Recruiting singer Michael Graves (who, wet behind the ears at 25, had never heard of the Misfits before) to fulfill vocal duties, the band hit the road for a year-long tour. Most bands would've had to dust the cobwebs off their instruments after so long a hiatus. Not so for these hardcore rockers and horror movie fans -- they put the cobwebs back on. And now, with AMERICAN PSYCHO (their first release for Geffen), the Misfits have fresh material to incorporate into their hyperactive live sets. Longtime followers of the band will be pleased, as the second incarnation of the Misfits is not your average nostalgic, watered-down reunion -- these guys are picking up right where they left off with WALK AMONG US and EARTH A.D. in the mid 1980s. Tracked at Dreamland Recording Studios with producer Daniel Vey, AMERICAN PSYCHO is another powerful testament to the Misfits' cult status as progenitors of modern thrash metal. Commencing with the eerie instrumental "Abominable Dr. Phibes," the band wastes little time shifting to fifth gear. Breakneck cuts "American Psycho" and "Speak Of The Devil" draw strength and stamina from the muscular guitar work of Jerry's brother, Doyle -- and provide listeners with their first dosage of studio Misfits sans Danzig. Graves does a superb impression of the former singer's ominous baritone on "The Hunger" and the bluesy, Elvis-inspired "Day Of The Dead." But it's clear that this kid has his own distinctive set of full-ranged pipes. "Dig Up Her Bones," in which Graves bemoans the death of a fictional lover, boasts an urgent, radio ready chorus -- Point me to the sky above, I can't make it on my own/Show me to the graveyard and dig up her bones! "This Island Earth" and "Mars Attacks" depict one of the band's favorite subjects (the annihilation of the entire planet via alien invasions from outer space) and pack typical sing-songy, three-chord refrains. Sure, the subject matter on PSYCHO is campy, and most of the lyrics involve gore in both the living and dead variety -- verses about shredded flesh are juxtaposed with images of eyeless corpses and fang-toothed demons. The Misfits made a name for themselves by combining their two loves -- punk rock and schlock horror films -- into one unique and unsettling art form. Fans who once banged their heads to "Return Of The Fly," "Vampira," and "Astro Zombies" can now mosh to "Crimson Ghost" and "From Hell They Came." The material contains heaps upon bloody heaps of graphic content, which is par for this counter-culture band; listener discretion is definitely advised. Dr. Chud (the Misfits' Cannibalistic Humanoid Under-ground Drummer) is the percussive engine that drives PSYCHO's 17 cuts with his double kick bass drums charging like pistons. Only's frantic basswork gives the songs their distinctive, palpitating grooves -- but in remote spots his work is nearly smothered by the guitar-heavy mix. Doyle and Graves each turn in extraordinary performances, and it is established by the album capper "Don't Open 'til Doomsday" that the Misfits have awakened from their Lodi coffins with a vengeance. Metallica (who once paid tribute to the Misfits with their cover of "Last Caress/Green Hell") used to rock like this -- they should pick up a copy and take exhaustive notes if they're to ever overcome LOAD. Be sure to stay tuned after the last song ends. Bonus track "Hellnight" (a song the Misfits debuted at their Odeon appearance last year) is buried under three minutes of stereo silence. With it, the band also inters any fleeting memories of Danzig. I missed the first half hour, but taped the rest. Anyways, I figured out why the Misfits chose that name. First, here's a brief summary of the movie. Roslyn divorces Ray in Reno, then meets widower Guido. He likes her but introduces her to cowboy Gay and those two fall in love. When she learns that Gay, Guido and Perce are going to turn wild horses ("misfits") into dogfood, she protests. The horses are called misfits 'cause nobody wants them. They aren't good enough for racing or riding or whatever. So they are basically ostricized. They are the freaks, the strange ones, the outcasts. See the connection? I thought this was pretty cool. By the way, this movie is not a horror movie. I figured it would be. It seems that once again the bible is full of flames. Why can't you fucks just settle your shit OFF the bible. Misfits bible used to be a place where FRIENDS could talk about the MISFITS. What the fuck is it now? Its full of worthless bullshit about how much soeone hates/likes bobby/jerry, white/black power, etc., etc., etc. It seems the bible was different about a year ago. I could actually stand to read it then. Don't think I'm putting down anyone in particular, just all the people that are too childish and selfish to even consider really wanting to learn something and post something meaningfull. Half the people just want to see their name in the list. Great job guys. Hope you're happy. Anyway, sorry if I'm wasting anyones time. I know I am but I don't consider this post to be worthless. I got a few questions too. The is allowed here right? First, What happened to Eerie Vons #? Last time I called, he said he was moving and the # was gonna be changed. I didn't quite hear it all. I didn't call back cause I live in GA and it runs up my phone bill calling. Anyway, next question, Michale ever get another Email adress? He told me he was cancelling it but not if he was getting another. Anyone know? Next, any REAL tour dates yet? I've heard alot of roumers.Saw them on the last tour and can't wait to see them again. AND THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION. I live in GA and I've heard from about 4-5 hardcore fiends the Glenn was gonna jam with the misfits and some comic convention in Atlanta. I kinda doubted it. Anyone know FOR SURE? Well, I guess I've wasted enough time. To the guy with the HARLOCK shirts. Still got any? I want one if you got any left. Let me know. I'm talking bids on some Fit's records. Orig. and boots. I'll post the list when I get it straightened out. JuStIn ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 04 Jun 1997 22:06:26 -0400 From: "Riot bOi!" Subject: assorted crap Hey everybody, I haven't posted in a while, so I thought I may as well now. AP, I finaly got it, I like it, the end. To roger, or whoever... The guys DID release a CD with Michale singing the old songs. It was called "Shocking Return of the Misfits" 'member? I got a dubbed copy from a fellow fiend. It has a bunch of old stuff along with "Blacklight" "The Hunger," and "The Haunting" I doubt they could release an official one on geffen, cuz they don't own the songs, Glenn does. Oh hey, I got a sighting for you all... I was in the doctors office yesterday cuz I had a sore throat from hell, and it kinda worried me(never had a bleeding blister in me throat before) Anyway, there was one of those "made for doctors office" books with illistrations by kids in it. I picked it up cuz the art can sometimes be amazingly good. The book was called, "Kids Say Don't Smoke" I guess you all can figure what it was about. Well, all the pictures had people smoking and dying and stuff. Toward the end, I came across somebody very familiar starring at me... That's right, guys and gals, the good 'ol Crimson Ghost telling me not to smoke. No, it didn't happen to vaguely remind me of him, it WAS him. It was obviously traced off of "EVILIVE" cuz of the hands that were holding ciggarette packs. I guess he was representing the reaper to that kid or something. The artists name was Tim something from Statan Island. He probably found his older brothers Misfits collection and thought it looked cool. Well, I gotta admit, I thought it was pretty cool the first time I saw it too. It was "The Misfits skull" for the longest time to me and my friends, and we didn't know of any "Crimson Ghost." We do now, so I guess that's the important thing :) My friend Nate always draws him killing masses of people. Nate's pretty cool. He has nothing to do, so he draws a lot. Oh, Hey Bobby, I listened to that stuff you call music on the Times Square page! You Jerry wannabe :) I'm kiddin Bobby, I liked it a lot. Is there anyway I can get that and Undead stuff in Kentucky? I hate mail order. I've been screwed over too many times to trust the postal service. BTW, I like your big hair. It makes me feel kinda funny, like when I used to climb the ropein gym class ;) One more thing. In that movie, "Mask" (the 80's movie where Cher is a coke-head biker with a son who has some weird desease that makes his head all big), their house address is 138, and when Rocky(cher's kid) goes to school, he gets assigned locker #138. Well, actually, we Detroit residents call it Devil's Night, and always have. October 30, the night before Halloween, all hell breaks loose all over the greater metropolitan Detroit area. Everyone always talks about the arsons, but they neglect to mention all the minor vandalism that still occurs. People go crazy with throwing toilet paper all over things, throwing rotten eggs at houses, and smearing shaving cream on inconvenient places (like cars). Of course, the pigs had to decide that this holiday was unsafe or some such rot and have really cracked down and enacted a harsh 6:00 curfew. I was stopped on the way home from work because I was "suspicious looking." I.E. teenager. Well, the police crackdown was effective: Devil's Night actually had FEWER fires last year than we have on a typical day. The problem they have is that recently, 7 days after dying, these people keep coming back. He calls them returners. It's an awesome movie, and I could see it as being somewhat related to "Dig Up Her Bones". Anyone know for sure? Also, what is the strumming pattern Doyle uses for WAU and EAD? It doesn't sound like the Ramones standard dum-dum, dum, dum-dum. The Misfits never actually recorded that song; Glenn was either lying or mistaken when he said that. The only known recording of it is the Samhain version. Lyle Preslar never played live with Samhain. (Or did he, Mark? I forget...) Anyway, there is a good deal of information about this if you look in the Misfits and Samhain Timelines in the Discography section of the WWW page. WALKDV@concentric.net: The "Possession" intro is the Lord's Prayer ("Our Father...") in latin. I don't know exactly which portions Glenn can be heard saying, but I think it's just the beginning of the prayer ("In nomina patria et filius et spiritu sanctum" ["In the name of the father, and of the son, and of the holy spirit"]). About 150 or 200 issues ago someone posted the full latin prayer to the Bible, but you could probably find it in a library somewhere. Dear fiends, After more than a decade the Misfits are back with a new album, (As you all know by now) !!! I first started listening to the "Misfits" when I was a young lad. I was, and still am a Danzig follower. Constantly all around me everywhere I went I saw these little skateboard punks wearing misfits shirts and causing shit for others. But it was somewhat cool, they all had unity towards one another !! There was a little cult following of the misfits in my hometown when I was younger, but you can read more about that on my homepage http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Club/3810 Anyways, I am a true fiend, atleast I think so. I eat, sleep, shit the misfits !! I have all there stuff and concert rarities, The Box Set is my most prized possession though. I listen to it every day. I was astounded and thrilled when I found out a few months ago that the Misfits had resurrected & had a new album comming out !! I was like," The kings of punk are back !! But it didn't have Glenn. Was it going to be good ? So I ordered it, and it was all I listened to for a few days. It wasn't the old misfits, no but a good effort nuntheless. I kept telling myself that they would have a few clunkers without Glenn's songwriting abilities but most of the songs were okay. Then I got to listening heavy to the Box Set again, and I realized why I had started listening to the misfits in the first place !!! Unity, the" you got my back , I got yours, lets kick some ass !!" ,type shit !! The kick ass hardcore that had a hard yet sweet sound and untouched lyrics !! And when reading the bio (from the Box Set) for the umpteenth time after recieving , "American Psycho" I was like laughing about the "Do it yourself part", everyone knows it !! Why let someone tell you how to dress, act, or sing, for that matter when you could, "Do It Yourself" !!! Are the Misfits doing it there way with Geffen, or did they sell out ?? And it really pisses me off when I read all the articles about Michale Graves having never heard a misfits song when he auditioned, I certainly don't see any Unity there !! If i were Jerry/Doyle, I would consider it a *slap in the face* to hear Michale saying , I think the Misfits are better now than they were 15 yrs ago. How in the fuck would he know he hadn't even heard of them until the ressurection, but , just by the fact that his older brother had listened to them when he was younger !! You can't have Unity if you don't REALLY know something inside and out !! I have dear respect for Jerry & Doyle trying to keep the dream alive & going, but i think it's dying ... If I go to a show it will be out of the simple respect for them it won't be to see Michale. ~ R.I.P. ~ cyberpunk138@webtv.net slavemonkeyhate@hotmail.com "LiVe FaSt , DiE" !!!!!! On a lark in a local Best Buy, though, I figured what the hell (this was after reading a positive review in Entertainment Weekly). It's true that the new singer's no Glenn, but his vocals sound better with the band than Glenn's ever really did, with a few exceptions (I thought "skulls" was a damned great song they did back then). Anyway to make a short story long, the new album's absolutely great, totally kick ass- it really reminds me of the Ramones in their heyday while also not mellowing at all - and I was around back when "walk among us" was released on vinyl. Glenn's stuff pales in comparison, all his serious posturing as the poster boy for brooding religious thought - what does he think he is...a theologian or something? There is also some Real Audio interviews there. Check it out. ------------ Glenn Danzig is quietly becoming one of the busiest men in show business. The metal muscleman (whose band Danzig is currently plotting out a European tour) says he may be strapping on a fistful of blades to take on the role of Wolverine in an upcoming big screen adaptation of the "X-Men" comic book series. "A while ago I met with 20th Century Fox about this role, and they told me that the role of Wolverine was indeed probably going to be gritty, although they didn't know about the other characters, and I didn't really care about the other characters," Danzig said. "At that time, Richard Donner was the executive producer. I think now Bryan Singer is going to direct, so we'll see. If Bryan Singer directs, the guy who did 'Usual Suspects,' it could be pretty good." Danzig told MTV News that if the role is "gritty" enough, he will challenge the only other actor he's heard mentioned for the part, Jean Claude Van Damme, for the honor of joining the squad of mutant crime fighters. The former Misfits frontman recently got his feet wet in the movie pool with a role in the upcoming Christopher Walken vehicle, "Prophecy II." In the film, Danzig plays a dark angel henchman to Christopher Walken's Gabriel, who is having some serious problems with the cushy treatment God bestows on human beings. Danzig may also turn up in an upcoming film from Wes Craven ("Scream," "Nightmare on Elm Street," "Last House on the Left") as well as the Rob Zombie-directed installment in the "Crow" series. The singer is still waiting to see scripts for those projects, and while he jumped at the chance to work for Craven (Danzig has long admired the director's work), he was less thrilled about the first two "Crow" films. "Rob Zombie is a friend, and he mentioned that he wanted me to do a role, or his agent had told me that they wanted me to do a role in the 'Crow' movie which Rob is directing," Danzig explained. "I'll have to see the role, but if Rob wants me to do it, and if I like it even half way, I'll do it as a favor, for sure." While stepping off of the stage and onto a movie set with Christopher Walken or Wes Craven might seem like a huge leap, Danzig said that the elaborate videos he has a penchant for prepared him for life in front of the cameras. "A lot of people don't realize that video is film," Danzig told MTV News. "It's cameras there, and of course you see it as a three or four minute clip on MTV or any other station. It's actually film. It gets shot, and there is a crew of about 30 or 40 people there. You have cameras. You have extras, you know, you have a director. It's the same thing as film. You've got to go through the same process too. It's only a little different. It's easy to work with film because you have lines to say and the director kind of says what to do. It's not always the case when you're trying to do a music video... you have a problem when the director doesn't tell you what to do!" ----------- So maybe he _will_ play Wolverine. I guess will just have to wait... -TiM ------------------------------ From: LCBL95A@prodigy.com (MR BENJAMIN W BARNARD) Date: Sat, 7 Jun 1997 17:40:13, -0500 Subject: vinyl/9:30 club Hello Fiends I have a question...when figuring out if you have a 1st press record, could the dates that are sometimes scratched onto the inner part of the vinyl tell you? For example: I have a Die Die... which has 5-84 etched in it where the code numbers are on the inner area. Do they scratch 'em all w/the origional date, or do they change the date when represses are made in a later year? Of course bootlegs and some smaller label records don't seem to have these. Are the numbers date codes? I have noticed a few of my records with month/year markings which correspond to origional release dates (as according to Mark's page) which leads me to believe that maybe some of them are legit. Another thing I was wondering about was the fact that when Mark mentioned WolfsBlood/Evilive 12" (Aggressive Rock Productions) he mentioned that they were "supposedly" available w/2 different stickers in the middle. The common Black w/silver writing and a fewer number with Silver/Black. I have a silver/black and was wondering if it was truly a lesser number print. Subject: More training in trading... Hello fiends... first off someone asked about Alternative Tentacles Records #10, well now that i ripped my collection of list apart searching for my AT list. I'll have to look some more. I don't know that one right off the top of my head. value wise, it depends on the band in this case. AT records that are worth money are items like the Dead Kennedys records that have extra bits in them. I had two copies of one of those lps that came with a 7" and another with a flexi. The best person to ask about that is Ken Ward who bought all those from me a couple years ago. Plus the fact that he is a bible fiend. To be honest the money is under the labels like Touch and Go, Dischord, Subpop, Dangerhouse, Revelation, and obviously Plan-9. There are a few stray labels that have records worth as much as labels that i just listed. Though most of the collectors and traders know that by now. Though finding them is even that much harder. You could pick up an issue of Maximum Rock and Roll and see some of the ads for collectors who are searching for these records. You start to learn the names after awhile being that they will offer up some Misfits items in trade for these items. Though its back to the same thing that i have been saying in Misfits 101 for months, that if you don't know your shit than your just another victim waiting to get screwed. I know that sounds pretty bad, but that is what its down to. They don't give two shits, all they see it as is scoring a good deal. And ripping off a fiend is no skin off their noses. After years of trading you will remember most of the records, labels, #'s, values, etc. Though i can never point out how important it is to log this info down or keep the papers from your records. Most companies have a catalog with a full list of all the records that they released. I do know that there are ones for, SST, T&G, Frontier, Dischord, Taang! and a couple others. Though you could write the company and ask for a catalog, though in certain cases you will not get the info you want. T&G still have not rereleased their first 10 and those will not appear in a new catalog. Where as with SST they have pressed the hell out of everything. It is a lot to learn, and it is also what saved my ass for the pass years. My listing in the collectors section of Misfits Central shows that, and yes i know that a lot of you keep asking about when i will be updating it, soon. Don't take this as me bragging, this is me pointing out to all of you how to get by. If you think you could just jump in feet first to a trade your a fool. I'm sure by now that enough of you saw what could happen in trading on the bible a couple months ago. Do remember it can happen to the best of us, even the ones who have been trading for 10+ years. Next, once again i must remind you all that I'm running that auction for Chris Besaw. This is the info: the way this goes is, the Auction will run for two weeks from this issue. The highest bids will then be notifed and given the info to contact Chris directly. What's up for bids you ask: 1) I Hear Ya - CD comp, still sealed 2) Huckem - CD promo from Geffen Records 3) American Psycho - CD - advanced promo plus there are a couple non auction items if you are interested in making an offer just to outright buy these records off Chris. 1) Metallica - self titled 12" - 2 x records. 2) Biohazard - promo 12" on orange vinyl 3) Pixies - promo 12" send bids and offer to tes777@bridge.net by June 20. well its late as usual. He >says the book aroused much contraversy, due to it's detailed and very >gruesome murder.. anyone know any truth to it?! Brett Easton Ellis wrote it. Here in the UK it's freely available to anyone that wants it (well, you have to pay for it but you know what I mean) and caused about as much controversy as me making breakfast. It's also about as gruesome as a Sesame Street Halloween special. Nice to know the old hype machine isn't out of gas though. Julian ------------------------------ From: "JeanC,SrA,49CS/SCBBS" Subject: re:rabiddoctor Date: Tue, 10 Jun 97 07:30:00 PDT In answer to your question, yes American Psycho is based on the book with the same name. Written by Brent Easton Ellis - same guy who did Less than Zero. I don't know about the book raising controversy, but I wouldn't doubt it. Check the book out, if you like gore (and I'm not kidding, this thing gets disgusting sometimes) and mindless killing. CJ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Jun 1997 10:12:36 -0400 From: Tarry Carapezza Subject: American Psycho on vinyl I finally found AP on vinyl in DC. It wasn't at SMASH!, I found it down the street at Orphius Records. It was only $9.99 too. First off, the cover of the LP is cooler than the CD. Why did they put 'Poster Inside' on the cover of the CD instead of on a sticker? I think it looks stupid. And then they list some of the songs but not all of them. As to say, "Here, listen to these songs. They're cool. The rest of the songs? Oh, well they suck." The LP just sez "Misfits" and "American Psycho" like a real album. I really like the song Dead Kings Rise, although those who think Jerry and the boyz have gone born again will think this song is another tribute to Jesus. To the person asking if 9:30 Club tix are on sale. Yes They are $15 + service charge. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Jun 1997 10:22:53 -0400 (EDT) From: Psycho Magnet first, lay off michale! He is just some kid who got REALLY lucky and got to be the singer of the misfits. If it was you, wouldn't you have done the same thing? I'm sure he had heard of them too, he's from fucking north jersey and if you are from north jersey when you are born they send you home from the hospital with a copy of earth ad. Besides at least he's good. I'd rather have someone who didn't know anything about the misfits than some suck. Come on the new singer could be SAL, just think about that. >So don't get all smart assed with me, it was just a >fucking suggestion. I can get smart assed whenever I want, for whatever reason I want and I will. American psycho is from the book, you must have missed those 40 or 50 bibles! It is pretty gruesome, but I don't think it's too hard to get. I got mine at Borders, and if they don't have it (or most other places for that matter) you can order it. Leah ps--The misfits wasn't a horror movie, and I don't think marilyn monroe was ever in one. But she was in a sort of suspense thriller called "don't bother to knock", which is worth seeing. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Jun 1997 09:23:21 -0400 From: ssp113@psu.edu (Scott Perry) Hello all, It is I, Scott Perry, I am back from England. I enjoyed myself very much thank you. Now to the Misfits related news. I got the new album two days before I left on the day it came out (which was fortunate because Jerry told me that the album wasn't comming out over there until May 27, but I'll get to that). I think it is great. Sure it's not the Misfits of old. It's basically heavy metal in the vein (ha) of Iron Maiden or motor head. That's fine by me, I'm a metal fan anyway, I got into the misfits through Danzig. Fantastic. There are a couple of songs on the album that are only okay, but songs like the shining, hate the living and the haunting are great. I think Jerry and Co. kicked ass. Second point. I went to see the misfits in England while I was there. I saw them at Leeds. I would like to thank all the fiends that made my trip there great. I got to go back stage and talk with the band before the show. They were all very nice and very patient and answered all of our questions. I guess that since the album was not due out til later that month that I was one of the only people there who had heard it so Jerry was very interested in getting my reaction to it. Anyway the show was great, not as good as when I saw them in state college last october but still one of the best concerts I've been to. After being over there I realize what a shitty time fiends in England have, getting there hands on stuff. Probably half the stores I went into didn't have a listing for Danzig even, and I went into a lot of stores. I don't think I saw a Samhain CD the whole time I was over there and only two or three stores I went into had any Misfits CDs besides the two collections. Most people there had never heard of the Misfits or Danzig even. The only good thing was that most music stores carried vinyl, which wasn't even very good for me since I don't really collect it. I ran into a fiend in a heavy metal club while I was in Nottingham, literally. We were both moshing and I ran right into him. I was wearing my glow in the dark skull and he was wearing a legacy of brutality shirt. He looked at it unbelievingly, it was pretty funny, then he gave me a big hug, and we tried to talk but it was too loud. Talk about unity. Anyway if that guy is on the bible, cheers dude. See ya'll later Scott ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Jun 1997 10:31:09 -0400 (EDT) From: Psycho Magnet Subject: SQUIRT! ladies and gentleman, it's that time again. Pissed me off, but hell anybody buying vinyl these days is a collector & doesn't need to play their records repeatedly anyhow eh? The fact that I've now heard of 3 accounts of this suggests it is a mere pressing error... records are not individually carved but stamped from master plates. In general commercial production, these master plates themselves are usually second-generation copies from "mothers," records plated from the original master plates which are copied for mass-production. So it's easy to see how an error might end up in there. 'TAB' is just a word to represent transcribed music in an ASCII format. back in the day, Robert and I started figuring out Misfits and Danzig songs. (actually, Robert taught me how to play bass.) Robert typed up the original Misfits TAB files, using just letters for the chords. "A E F# D" is much easier to read than having 8 A chords and 8 E chords and 8 F# chords and 8 D chords all tabbed out. it was written with the notion that fiends would reference the TAB while listening to the albums and figure out the rhythm themselves. we're not gonna spoonfeed the TAB to newbies... it's called a learning experience. we went for simplicity and accuracy, not a professional publication-ready document. i did the same with the first Samhain TAB files. and please, anyone who hasn't already done so, read the TAB primer and the TAB guide from OLGA. the links are in the lower left side of the guitar TAB page. the "guitar/longtab" directory contains Misfits songs that were tabbed out in the longer format.
