A postcard was sent out a few weeks ago to fiends in some of the southeast
states. John Grimm has started working on a new postcard for later this
summer. That's about all that's happening at the moment.

Dave Achelis, engineer of the session.

Sessions discc - everything from '79 and the MSP stuff. Some of the MSP
stuff also has Doyle overdubbing from '81.

She, Spinal Remains and Eagles all had overdubs. Halloween is pretty
much true to the original MSP version.

She and Spinal Remains *should* sound like the Static Age stuff, but doens't
because of the overdubs. Eagles should sound like the first version of
Eagles on the Sessions Disc. I don't think that Glenn added overdubs
to Halloween, but I know that Doyle did back in '81. American Nightmare
may or may not be okay, since Glenn played guitar on the original in the
first place.

I disagree with you. This is not a problem, and you are choosing a poor
way of defining who is an active member. I think that anyone who reads
this bible is an active member. Personally, I'd rather read short, but
substantive, bibles than long, rambling bibles.

There's more to what? What are you talking about? Who are you to define
what "it" is? What is it that you want us to do?

I will most likely be controversial here, but I rather like the Metallica
version of Last Caress. Everything just seems to go together well
musically on that version. But Gleenzig is the one to beat when it comes
to Green Hell. Does anyone think that "going down to die" on 4p is a good
song besides me? My girlfriend's kinda goth and it's a great slow dance
song;)

Denmother Patricia: Are you sure its iggy pop singing in thoseNike ads? I
heard the Red Hot Chili Posers version on the Beavis and Butt-head
Experience and it was...uh huh huh...pretty cool. I couldnt tell the
difference.

Does any1 know how to make their bass guitar "talk" a la Gene Simons of
Kiss? How do I tune it down or distort it?

AZ: What shows have you taken in recently in the valley? The skinheads
havent come out a lot recently ex. for the Fits show. Also, in your note
to Goatfit, you said something about the Brighton Bar. Is that also
called Brighton Beach? I have a Type O Negative CD that was recorded
live from there. And do you know when lollapalooza is coming to the
Allentown Fairgrounds? I'm afraid I don't remember the Follow Fashion

No it's not. I said I want to wait until I KNOW I can go and judge them

NO ! But as I HONESTLY (which I guess is a concept you might not
understand or appreciate) said, It would most likely cloud my judgement
to try to be objective about the music, while I'm thinking about which
part of their stage set was paid for with my money.

Glenn came to one or two shows back in '81. Both CHUD and MICHALE have

Subject: Misfits Videos--I have some

Fiends,

I've seen a few posts lately from people looking for Misfit's videos.
I am willing to make copies of what I have.

I have the following:

Stone Pony "new" (75 minutes)--looks and sounds great!
Creepy Compilation (very long--not exactly sure--but maybe 2
hours--if I'm wrong tell me)
Bethleham (36 minutes)

Will soon be receiving, via Chris (ChristoTer):

Skulls and Halloween Promos
Eagles Lodge (13 minutes)
Bookies (27 minutes)
Coney Island (29 minutes)

Here's the deal: each tape will be $10.00 (That covers the cost for
the tape and shipping and handling in the USA). Specify what shows you
want on the tape (look at the times and realize (SP) is the best
quality--I not only recommend this, but will only tape at this speed because
Misfit's videos are not known for their quality, and I dont want people sending
me nasty e-mail messages about how they cannot see what's on the tape).
E-mail me what you want and your address. And send a check for $10.00--I
won't send anything out before I get the check, and you can ask some of the
people on IRC (Andykryst, D-rod, etc..) and they'll tell you that I'm good for it.
If you make contact with me I will get the tape(s) out to you.

Also: Trades will definately be considered

i was flipping through entertainment weekly today and it had a picture
and little blurb about the box set: UNDERTAKERS OF THE WEEK THE MISFITS
Glenn Danzig's death-punk outfit have interred their entire catalog
	in a 6[.5]" x 12" casket called ^Box Set^. Guess that's the last nail
	in ^their^ coffin, eh?
hmm i bet that's exactly what glenn would like to think. a while ago,
like 2-3 years they also had another little blurb about when danzig was
on tour in europe w/ def leppard and a guy from def leppard suposidly
punched him in the face and he just walked away and locked himself in his
trailer... i belive the header was called wuss of the week or something...
i tried to order uneasy listening this week the idiots at the
local indy record store denied its existance, could someone who has it
post the product number so i can shove it down their throats?
i have the casette version from ROIR that i got a long time ago
(3-4 years) its not really worth buying on cd, just order dawn of the
undead direct from bobby... its cheaper has more undead songs and maybe
he'll shut up about money for an issue:)
does anyone know if glenn will put out another collection of
video's for danzig III, IV, and V, i kind of liked the first 2, plus the
HtGK video... and i'd like to have can't speak on tape, i thought that
was an incredible video, he should have gotten an award from mtv instead
of whatever crap won.
oh i never voted on a bible shirt because i didn't really like any of the
designs enough to want to buy a shirt. yeah yeah i'm sure i'll hear well
if you didn't like any of them why didn't you submit your own... i was
trying to commision a friend to make one up, i have a pretty cool design
in my head, but i suck at art. well if i ever get it done maybe i'll
submit it to the calender or something....

That was Glenn's idea. I was in shock when he told me I had to do a SOLO.
I'd never had a real solo in a MISFITS songs before, so in true MISFITS
fashion - I ripped most of it off of COMMUNICATION BREAKDOWN.

Okay. With just a quick glance at the box; everything from #3 to #14. #15
- 21 sounds like a mix of both me and either Uncle Glenny or Doyle.

Actually, on EAGLES and Marilyn, you can still hear some of my guitar -
the leads and glissando's . . . I think he might've just did the rythm
tracks over. Those are pretty shitty mixes. You can barely hear Joey's

Subject: Jeet Kune Do and Getting the Misfits on stage faster

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>FROM THE FORBIDDEN ZONE<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Fiends,
It is hot as fuck here. If you live in a place where the
temperature is below the century mark and your cooler does not blow fire,
FUCKING REJOICE!!!

Miss Fit: I used to be a big fan of Henry Garfield (aka Rollins, or
Denmom's favorite, Bullethead). I still dig his music, but don't respect
him as much as I used to.
Anyway, I USED to think he'd whoop Glenn's short self, but NO
MORE!! Sister, I have seen the LIGHT!!! (Or darkness if you happen to
be coughing cool). Anyway, Glennn may be short (but who am I to talk?),
but he seems to be pretty strong. Albeit, Rollins has a big neck and is
also kinda bulky... However, Glenn also trains in the way of the Little
Dragon (Bruce Lee)-- Jeet Kune Do. As I understand it, he also has some
kickboxing experience. All Glennard would have to do is maybe throw a
foot jab, step in with a jab to the bridge of the nose, throw an elbow to
the temple,
maybe get in a few body blows, and when he was doubled over, start in on
throwing some knees.
Glenn's got a lower center of gravity on his side, plus Rollins
has a weak right wrist.
If you really want to know, I'm sure with all the pull our fellow
fiends have, we could arrange a bout through Don King or something.
Hell, DENMOM ALONE would just have to antagonize Rollins with a few
Bullethead comments and throw in a few bad memories from the DC days, then
call Glenn and tell him how great his butt looks and ask for a re-match
in Risk...things would start movin'. And as I understand it, Denmom's
great pals with Don King. They share the same taste in cars, right Mom?
:)

OK, and for all of you who aren't digging the line-up for the Misfits
show:
A team of crack (-smoking) research scientists has come up with a
solution to the problem after hours of research.
It seems that some members of bands the 'Fits are touring with do
not like objects projected at them while playing and storm off the stage
in a huff if such actions occur. ("I'm not gonna play with you
anymore!!! I'm telling my MOM!!!!") So, the researchers have suggested
bringing projectiles with you to your respective shows, namely hand
grenades. I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to acquire some shells
of vintage M26 baseball grenades. The researchers say that all ya have
to do is fill 'em with your own juice.
Now, the researchers also suggest that you don't just throw these
projectiles, but actually strap them to your bodies Hezbollah-style and
charge the stage. This would also help to take out some of those pesky,
meanie bouncers! JIHAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All is well in the desert hell,

Subject: San Diego Comic Con

I just got back from the San Diego Comic Con and it was great. I've gone to
lots of conventions before but this had to be the most mammoth of them all.
There is no way you could see everything the convention had to offer in only
one day (which is why I decided to go for two days instead of my originally
planned one). The highlight of the show for me was the Verotik table (one of
the main reasons I went in the first place). Contrary to what was posted
here and on Eerie's hot line, Glenn was there for the first day of the
convention (July 4th) but not the second (July 5th). If he was there the
last two days I have no idea. I'm glad I brought all of my records and
Verotik comics to get signed by him because he signed everything I had. I
put down a bunch of records and asked if he would sign a few. He said yes as
long as they weren't bootlegs. I only intended on having him sign a few and
then come back for the rest but he signed them all. Every single one. Even
Misfits ones (he apparently has no problem signing Misfits records (at least
the ones I brought with me)) that I had already had signed by Jerry and
Doyle. Liam Sharp (artist of "GOTH"), Duke Mighten (artist of "Satanika"),
Eric Cannette (artist of "Igrat"), and Wingbird (artist of "Satanika X")
joined Glenn a little while later. They too signed everything set in front
of them. They even drew sketches for those who asked (me included). All
five of them were great and would happily talk and joke with you if you asked
them a question. As I said before, I got all the comics I brought with me
signed. They didn't limit you to just one autograph per person as many of
the big names did (like Todd McFarlane who limited his line of signers to
maybe 50). New items to be had were ...

* an "Igrat" model made after Eric Cannette's renderings
* a "Special Inquisitor" Super-D model (a character from "Satanika"
* a "Jaguar God" model made after Simon Bisley's drawings from "Jaguar God"
#0 (this is the biggest and, in my opinion, the best model Verotik has put
out so far)
* "Venus Domina" #1 (a new series about a hellish domnatrix)
* "Venus Domina" San Diego Comic Con Special edition with art done by
Wingbird
* The Eric Cannette sketchbook
* The Wingbird Special Edition

Anyway, that's about it. The show as a whole was great but the Verotik table
was the highlight for me. I'm definitely going to try to go back next summer
to see who Glenn will have as his special guests. Before I go, I have to
mention that they had on display sketches of character designs from the
upcoming "Satanika" OVA. It looks good. Anyway, that's about it ...

have been partaking of the IRC and except for a few, (you know who you
are.....)i tend to be pretty bored with it. Lets try and jump on it more.
Then the folks who go on it now won't have to listen to all that
bullshitting between me and the Crimson King if more people are in on the
deal. so comeon you all I am a denmother for crissake, not a cheerleader,
I'm in this to act immature, not be some kinda spiritmonger. I got into
this whole fiend thing because i dug the energy, not the apathy. apathy
is for hippies. and never trust a hippie! thats's what Gigantor, the
R&RSwindle fan tells me (inbetween announcing that we are one dirty ape
and digging on the grisly --or is it grizzly? as in bear?--buttfeast!

devastated when they finally retire. A part of my life will be over.
I know how those idiot Deadheads felt when Jerry G. died now...
also I am willing to approach Matt Groening with a petition. I will start
working on one now. Everyone send me a post card with WE WANT THE MISFITS
on THE SIMPSONS!!!!! on it and I will forward em to Matt G/Bongo Comix.
okay? email me for details...

and Tammy, what about a special Flame Mark Issue? which one do you
think would be best? How about issue...uh...276 cause thats 138x2?
or we could figure out what FLAME MARK is in numerology, or measure
our genitals divided by our bra size x our IQ's, and so forth...;

Thanks to the new fiends who are offering pix for the calendar, as always
special thanks to Keith 138 (!) who is the most talented and enthusiastic

I would believe Mr. Graves would have to handle his devilock as a "fine

Good Morning Fiends -

well most of you are probably reading this early Monday morning, i wouldn't
know cause i'm sitting infront of a computer at this point of the morning
and it does not have any internet access. Bobby think of it a Paintbox
with access to the internet, everyone should have a $200,000 computer to
answer their e-mail.

First off we are getting closer to August which means we are getting closer
to our very own t-shirt and i hope you guys read this carefully cause i'm
getting letters left and right about it *YOU CAN, YES CAN ORDER MORE THAN
ONE SHIRT. I KNOW T-SHIRTS GET WORN AND TORN(ESPECIALLY AT SHOWS) SO YOU
WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A BACK UP. NO PROBLEM, I HAVE SPOKEN TO A LOT OF BIBLE
MEMBERS THAT INTEND TO HAVE TWO FOR THAT REASON AND I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH
THAT.* Also to all bible members you will all get a chance to order, i
will make the ordering time very long so everyone gets in. I'm so excited
and if you talk to Mark he is too. This is going to be a killer t-shirt
and from some of your letter i can tell that you guys can't wait, neither
can i.

Next, after some searching around Miami i did find a copy of Uneasy
Listening and i have to say its truely incredible. IF you are a true
horror kid this is for you. After 24 years of watching horror movies i
have to say the music that Eerie and Mike have created is the pure essence
of horror. My fave track has to be Misery's Drag, though i really like
Nightmare too which you can hear on Eerie and Mary's answering machine.
This is something you need to go out and get if you can't find it Mary gave
me the order # for that CD: Caroline Records/CAR 7531. Just get your local
record store to order it for you.

Other news, well once i get the details organized with Bobby we will
actually have a special Flaming Mark Bible issue. There will be a contest
involved and your one major chance to Flame Mark. So watch the bible for
details and how long you have to send in your flames.

Now it's time for me to look for my pillow and the sandman, and hopefully
some people and you know who you are didn't jinx me with their week long
insomnia.
later to all the little bible fiendies.

Who's playing on the Collection I versions of Vampira, Skulls, AstroZombies, NOTLD, and I Turned into a Martian? The reason I'm asking all these goofy questions is that after listening to the Box Set new stuff [Static Age, Sessions] I got used to them. Anyway, I got the tape player in my car working again and of course have Collection I on tape. It's like the vocals are a deja vu, but the instrumentation is terrible. What gives? Also, have you noticed that the "re-mastering" of Collection I is just as terrible? Play "Hollywood Babylon" from record or from Static Age CD and then play the "reworked" one from the Box Set (Disc1) It sounds like the gain is pushed way too far up on the vocals. (Kind of like the drums on Last Caress of Collection II). I mean if you want to flame Mark or have sumthin to say to him, no one is stopping you! Subject: Time to Rip, Rend and Tear... Hello to all my fave Fiendies - It seems that one of you is not to pleased with the bitter truth i pointed out back in Bible Issue # 200, though this is not the first time i said what i had to say on that issue. If you read the issue after the Get to know you issue i think i said the same stuff. But to clear this up it's time to address the point i'm making and to whom it is directed to. This it to Robert Brustman - 1) Obviously he disagrees with me about something and could it be the lazy and sloth type Bible Members that feel that we the active members need to entertain them in short and to the point information. Though it seems you are one of those people. Shit you were not in the get to know you, or the birthday calendar run(that means you won't be in the calendar either doesn't it) and you didn't vote for any t-shirt design. 2) Well i don't need to define Active or Member the Crimson Ghost did that for me, and thank you dear it's nice to know that the Active Members back me on this one. 3) My poor poor words, well let's see 78 voted and 778 are members that is 10% which i guess they didn't teach you very well in school. That means only 10% of the Bible Members are true active members who want to be part of the events that go on in this forum. That also means that you, yes you Robert and the other bunch that make up the 90% OF FUCKING LAZY ASSES WHO SEEM TO BELIEVE THIS IS A SERVICE FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE. NO ONE ASKED ME HERE, I FOUND IT MYSELF, NO ONE ASKED ME TO POST, I WENT IN ON MY OWN, NO ONE JUST HANDED ME THE LAST SPOT ON THE PAGE I'M JUST THE LAST ONE TO REACH MARK BEFORE HE SENDS OUT THE BIBLE. SO AS I SEE IT I AM AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE BIBLE AND YOU ARE NOT. or do you think you have the balls to say you are active: Who is an active member, i can think of a few - Mark is to obvious, Denmother Patricia, Crimson Ghost, Greg Petre( obvious again he won the design contest you know or probably you past it by, i forgot your not an active member) Bile666, D-Rod, can't forget Bobby Steele he was in the Misfits, one of their guitarists or did you know that probably not again, Ben Todd, AZ, Keith138, John Grimm and i could go on and on and on(no one get pissed if i didn't list you it's just a point i'm making). 4) Anyone who reads the bible is active!?! Amazing, i thought you had to participate in an activity to be active, shit where is that dictionary. I guess i'm loosing it. Though i doubt it very highly, if i still can master three different computer platforms at work all at the same time i think my brain should be intact. 5) Reading short and to the point, well i guess you didn't like all the posts about the Misfits shows, boy were they long and i read a lot of them too, shit i posted one of them didn't i. 6) There is more to what? What am i talking about? Who am i? What can i say, THERE IS MORE TO SITTING ON YOU ASS IN FRONT OF A COMPUTER THREE TIMES A WEEK JUST READING. BUT I GUESS YOU DON'T INTERACT WITH ANY OF THE OTHER ACTIVE MEMBERS. What am i taking about, well it is more than reading as you can tell from the post, most active members post, if they don't post and i know several of them. They participate in the get to know you deal, voting for the design, giving ideas for what they wanted the design to look like, sending in their birthdays for the calendar and probably will send in their Flame of Mark for the upcoming Flaming Mark Special Issue. Who am i, well if you read the get to know you issue you would know who i am. If you mean who am i to say word one, well being that i get talked into running things cause i open my mouth and say something to Mark when we talk inbetween bible issues. I guess it makes me sick that only 10% of us can make an effort to interact with each other, participate in the activities, and meet each other for the shows and other reasons. Well i can also say and probably be right on the money that the same 10% were the ones who got to meet the Misfits during the shows they were at. well that is a lot to say and what a long post it was. so i'm loud, so i'm that purely fiendish social director on this wacked out cruise shipping bible, so i'm like an Evil Cheerleader( i didn't take it the wrong way CG, i couldn't stop laughing when i read it) screaming in your eyes to get you all moving and participating. Am i lazy, NO, that's fucking obvious - the collection i have didn't come like manna from heaven when i read MRR, flipside or any other mag, meeting Glenn, Eerie, Chuck, and John - first time was a given the others were all my own get up and go ( i was almost arrested the second time for not having a pass, though Glenn didn't care he was more interested in talking and seeing the neat stuff i had) . Then Jerry, Doyle, Michale and Chud - ask anyone at the MiamiBeach before the show and how they just watched in the pouring rain as i just marched myself into the club, no one stopped me, Jerry was waiting for me as the older crew guy with the beard pointed out(shit so i couldn't find the guys on miles of sand and ocean after the sound check which i missed.) though the point is and the whole post is that i am an Active Member of the bible and you are not. Now to better and brighter things. The Flaming Mark Special Issue will start with all the details, that i promise if i don't have to deal with this Hurricane, will be posted in Mondays Bible. There are going to be some killer prizes for the best Flames and some of you i'm sure have been waiting for this chance to finally flame the man who put this whole Bible together. So don't forget and there won't be a bunch of extensions this time get it!!! The T-shirt is going fine and Greg is hard at work on refining his drawing. well i'm tired out a bit, waking up at 5am every morning for work is rough even laced with lots of caffeine. Hope you guys have found the Uneasy Listening CD this is one you can't miss out on!!! Later to all the Little Active Fiendies!?! I think that anyone who reads >this bible is an active member. Personally, I'd rather read short, but >substantive, bibles than long, rambling bibles. Webster's Says: Active: adj L, activus, fr, adgere, to act 1. Communicating or causing action or change; as, ^active^ powers of the mind..... 5. Requiring or implying action or exertion. I believe that Tammy is right on the money with her definition of whom is active or not. *you* sum it up quite nicely when you state: "Personally, I'd rather read short, but substantive, bibles than long, rambling bibles." The key word you use is "you would rather read" *YOU* are not an active participant you are a "Passive Participant." Again I'll lean on my trusty New Collegiate (1953 edition): SHIT it doesn't have WYSIWYG!! Passive: adj OF, passif, L, passivus 1. Not active, but acted upon; affected by outside force or agency. 2. Receiving or enduring without resistance or emotional reaction; submissive; patient. Member: L, membrum 4. A part of a whole; an independent constituent of a body, structure, or any organized thing. Can you argue with fact? I doubt it. This is a discussion group *not* an information counter. Should *you* choose not to enter into the discussions, and just read the content, you are a passive member, *not* an active member. As much as I disagree with Tammy's style of doing things; ie: the cheerleader approach, making sure her post is dead last, begging, etc... I understand what she is trying to do. There are entirely too many of you out there that just sit and read this fucker without ever saying anything. Then you complain when things don't seem to be going your way. Too fucking bad, this list is what *you* make it. Don't complain about what's being said if you choose not to contribute. There's nothing wrong with sitting back and reading it, but if that's all you do, you have no right at all to piss & moan about it. A personal exchange between Denmom and myself: >From: Denmother PRH >To: Crimson Ghost >Subject: Re: new bible post > >the main point was that nobody voted on the Tshirt and >nobody seems to want to get involved in things like the >Get to Know You issue and the birthdays etc. Things that >require little effort on the part of the subscriber, it >only needed the minimum of effort. >ie:email TES777@bridge.net and say "i vote for Ben or somebody else" > >big effort huh? >man I am exhausted, and may have to go take a nap now! >This group does little if anything to participate. I wonder >how many even read the fucking thing? >or do they just get it emailed to em so they can say "oh wow >i got new mail" >fuckem. As far as I am concerned, this Bible has only 78 members. >thats what I think. What do you think? Well, personally that's some of the problem. I think alot of people are too cool, too punk to get involved in such *queer* things. They think that by being apathetic they are embodying some ridiculous spirit of Anarchy or some other nonsensical idea. Fuck you, you ain't punks, all your doing is weighting us down. These people that never post and do nothing but complain when they do are what's fucking up this list. I tend to agree with Denmom this list has got Exactly 78 members. We are 138...pfftt. my ass. it's more like: We are only 78! gimme a fucking break, I remember when it was a big deal that we had hit 138 subscribers. now we have almost 6 times that amount and it's 6 times as retarded. Get up off your lazy asses and post something. Tell a story about how the band changed your life or something, have some passion about something. Don't just sit there being punker-than-fuck. I don't think that anybody has a right to complain in their very first post, I find this whole notion ludicrous, at least add something interesting before you decide to complain. btw: Robert Brustman, if that wasn't your first post, I stand corrected you may ignore everything except the definitions, there are plenty of other people on here that this pertains to. til next. peace, cg ~-=`=-~-=`=-~-=`=-~-=`=-~-=`=-~-=`=-~-=`=-~-=`=-~ "Do you remember lying in bed... with the covers pulled up over your head radio playin' so no one can see...?" Recording sessions often took place over many months, with long breaks in between. Very few records were kept, and it is very possible that tapes were lost, stolen, or accidentally disposed of. Misfits recording sessions were usually recorded "live in the studio" onto multi-track tape. A multi-track tape is a 2 inch tape that plays in only one direction and has a certain number of tracks or channels. Most Misfits sessions were recorded on 8 or 16 track tapes. The multi-track tapes include everything recorded during the session, from talking in between songs to alternate takes of the songs with mistakes. The best takes of the selected songs are then mixed and transferred to a 1/4 inch master tape. This tape, in turn, can be mastered (by adusting the high or low end, for instance). A song from one multi-track tape may often be transferred to another tape to re-record certain tracks; in the case of The Misfits, several different mixes of a song may be identical except for a slight variation in the drum or vocal track. The following section lists all recording sessions and the songs they produced that have been distributed legally or on bootlegs. Each entry includes the song title, playing time, album of release, and any known information about the session. Alternate mixes are listed whenever possible. The * symbol denotes remixes or re-recordings of songs from an earlier session tape that were transferred to another tape. ______________________________________________________________________________ Album Chart ----------- CC = Cough/Cool 7" B = Bullet 7" TFM = Teenagers From Mars 7" HB = Horror Business 7" NOTLD = Night Of The Living Dead 7" BW = Beware 12" 3HFH = 3 Hits From Hell 7" H = Halloween 7" WAU = Walk Among Us EADW = Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood DDMD = Die, Die My Darling 12" LOB = Legacy Of Brutality M = Misfits EADCD = Earth A.D. Glenn had changed the lyrics and the name of the song before the band went into the studio. Sometime around 1985, Glenn re-recorded the bass and guitar tracks for many of the songs (tracks 1b-2b, 4b-5b, 6b, 9b, 12b-13b, 17b) for release on LEGACY OF BRUTALITY. The original versions of tracks 4-17 are featured on the STATIC AGE album, the 4th CD of the MIFITS BOX SET. These tracks, listed here as 4a-17a, were taken from Franche' Coma's copy of the studio mixing tape. Previous releases of these tracks, such as TEENAGERS FROM MARS, BULLET, BEWARE, and COLLECTION II, had come from Glenn Danzig's master. Hence, slight differences between the versions can be observed. The STATIC AGE versions of "Bullet" and "Some Kinda Hate" leave off the "1, 2, 3, 4!" introduction, and the second guitar track during the guitar solo in "We Are 138" is more prominent. The date listing for "She" on the LEGACY OF BRUTALITY sleeve is incorrect. _____________________________________________________________________________ 1/26/79: C.I. Producer Robbie Alter also played guitar on two songs. One of the mixes of "Skulls" that came from this tape has a fade-out ending, whereas the other comes to a stop. The original mix of "Halloween II" features a chorus taken from "Halloween" added to the end. Before being released on the HALLOWEEN 7", a different drum track was recorded and the guitar work was credited to Doyle, although Bobby's slide guitar was preserved entirely. The original mix of "Halloween" was included on LEGACY OF BRUTALITY. Parts of it were later re-recorded for release on the HALLOWEEN single. Time differences for some of these different mixes can also be attributed to varying tape speeds. _____________________________________________________________________________ 6/81: Unknown studio; Fair Lawn, NJ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1 20 Eyes 2:01 2 I Turned Into A Martian 1:49 (part of song is cut) 3 Astro Zombies 2:05 4 Nike A Go Go 2:37 5 All Hell Breaks Loose 1:39 6 Devils Whorehouse 1:46 7 American Nightmare 1:42 LOB, BOX2 Format: 16 Track tape Lineup: [6] (Tracks 1-6) [6] + Glenn Danzig (instead of Doyle): Guitar (Track 7) Notes: Tracks 3-6 have been widely distributed on bootlegs such as A WALK AMONG THE DEAD. "I Turned Into A Martian" includes a different vocal track and a variant guitar solo, as well as a slightly different ending. "Astro Zombies" has a simpler drum track and a prominent extra vocal track. "Devils Whorehouse" has an extra vocal track in the background and slightly different music. The rest of the vocals and instrumentation were added by the band a month later at Fox Studio. The extended version of "Mommy, Can I Go Out And Kill Tonight?" has an extra second of feedback at the end. The COLLECTION II versions of these tracks were remastered. Glenn re-recorded the vocals for "Cough/Cool" and added a guitar track, a new bass track, and an extra drum track using a drum machine. Part of the original drum track is preserved at the beginning of this re-recording. The majority of the instrumental tracks for "Devils Whorehouse" came from the Reel Platinum session. The drum track to "Nike A Go Go" was taken from the Mix-O-Lydian version. Glenn had originally planned to release COLLECTION II in 1987 (as shown in a Plan 9 merchandise listing from that year), so these tracks were probably recorded in June of 1987, around the time that he re-recorded parts of Samhain's UNHOLY PASSION release. _____________________________________________________________________________ 5/16/96 - 5/18/96: Trax East; South River, NJ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1 Mars Attacks 2:10 2 The Hunger 1:52 3 Blacklight 1:37 4 The Haunting 1:37 5 Dead King's Rise 3:09 6 Talons of Steel 7 Dr. Phibes Rises Again Format: 24 Track tape Lineup: [10] Notes: The Misfits recorded the instrumental tracks for these songs on May 16, recorded the vocals on May 17, and mixed the songs on May 18. I mean, thank god for the so-called "active members" who come through with the latest discussions of chicken wings and what was the last movie they saw a Danzig shirt in...right?? Hasn't anybody considered that 90% of the subscribers to the list remain silent, not because they're "lazy", but because they have a FUCKING LIFE???!!! What is more, I actually enjoyed this list best when Bobby Steele first joined in, because there was actually something interesting to debate about!! Yep, I flamed the fuck out of him, and I'm still not a "fan", but I'd rather hear most anything he has to say on the subject of the Misfits than another debate on when the next Official Misfits Bible Cookie Sale is going to be, and who'll be invited! The way you guys carry on, anybody who just joined the list would think the subject of the Misfits was dead in the water, when in reality they're a living, touring band. Apparently there's nothing more to talk about, shall we pack it in? So it's to be "active" vs. "passive" members, eh? Well, we like voting around here: my vote is that you all shut the FUCK up, unless you have something WORTHWHILE to say about the Misfits. Then we'd see how many "active members" there are. Or, better idea! Why don't we just let this be a forum for people with a common interest to get together and exchange information and ideas, and all you would-be ringmasters, scout masters and emperors find another fucking sandbox, so the rest of us can go on about our business and talk (or NOT talk) about what we goddamn feel like! Of course, The Misfits "broke-up" 6 years earlier, but I was quite found of the album titled "Danzig ][". Anyway, one of my friends told my that Danzig was comming to town and invited me to go see the concert with him. When I accepted, he told me there might be a "mosh pit". I said, "What the fuck are you talking about you fucking idiot!", or something to that affect, "I have that CD, there's nothing to mosh to." "Yeah, but they might do some Misfits songs" "Huh" "That guy was in a band before this one, it was called The Misfits" "Oh" The scene is a local suburban mall. The camera zooms in to reveal a typical 15-year-old "head-banger" (in the manditory jean-jacket w/ Megadeth backpatch) going through the tapes - the "M" section. After finding the cheapest Misfits tape, which happened to be Walk Among Us, I headed for my car. Popped the tape is and heard the peice of art known as 20 Eyes. Okay, 6 years later: No more jean jacket, no more long-greasy hair, but I've been listining to those guys the whole time. I recently went to the misfits/Anthrax tour (when it came to Baltimore - Hammerjacks has a great fucking sound system BTW --- when you can actually feel your eyeballs vibrate in your head, you can chalk it up as a good concert). And they proved that they don't need Danzig (or his ego) to front them. (In fact, they pulled some guy out of the audience to sing Mother... and he did pretty good, except for not knowing the words). last weekend I bought the box-set (no more tapes for me) and ever since then, 4 of the 6 slots in my CD-changer have been well used. BTW, they always record those Hammerjack shows -- any Baltimorons out there know I can get a hold of those tapes???? Oh, one more thing -- to all of you who want all 780-odd people to be "active"; trust me, you don't. If you pressure people into posting something just for the sake of posting, you'll get a bunch of shit (hmm, I think I just proved that). Anyway, just let the lurkers read the shit.. if they have something to say, they'll say it. As for the T-shirt and the calander, I don't what the fuck is going on. I'll try to look through some old issues and give you my thoughts though. But you can mark me down to buy one (or two) of those shirts. Phew, and to think, I'm supposed to be working, Brian ------------------------------ From: Ronald Barned Subject: glenn in a supermarket Date: Wed, 10 Jul 1996 14:43:55 -0500 greetings, ok, sumthing occured to me while i was lying in bed staring at the ceiling, if glenn lives alone & everything wouldn't he have to buy his own groceries? How many of you could imagine being in Food Lion & seein uncle glenny walking down the frozen food section pushing a shopping cart? Just wonderin'. -me ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Jul 1996 16:51:35 -0400 From: Lycanthropie Subject: HERE I AM...DEAL WITH ME!!! Here is the first of many posts! Consider me ACTIVE NUMBER 79!!! OK... I'll start by introducing myself. My name is Ryan, I'm (almost) 17 (if it's not too late for the calendar, my b'day is July 20) and from CT. I've been subscribed to the Bible for little over a month. The reasoning for my absence is that I haven't had much time lately to read or post. ( I DID vote for the shirt, though I fear it may have been 1 day too late...but I made the effort.) I did manage to catch the Simpsons petition rap, and since it would bring together my favorite band and television show (...I'm sure we ALL know that television is the government's preferred method of mind control...ergo I watch as little as possible), I will back this to the fullest extent of my abilities. I know off the top of my head about 15 people who would sign this. I will try and promote it on my upcoming public access show and in the newspaper I occassionally write for (I included my review of the Misfits' Hartford, CT show which was done for the paper... it's a bit big, so I don't know if Mark will want to run it with this! It does include a brief interview with Michale, though!). Email me to get me involved, please!!! I was lucky enough to catch the Fits in May at Danbury's Subzero (RIP), and to have Rocky allow me not only to videotape, but also hook me up with an interview. The guys couldn't have been any kinder. My friend and I were allowed to hang out backstage with them for the majority of the evening, and they did their best to answer any question my friend or I threw at them. Michale kept insisting we take some of their soda, since it was "too much for them", and Chud even told us the "Doyle 8th Grade Graduation Story", which I'll post next Bible. As for taping the Fits, Kenny was VERY cool with me (maybe since I'm sorta in with tour manager Ken Kriete or the Public Access show). I approached him with camera in hand, expecting him to tell me "No way in hell", since the Fits have been so brutally bootlegged, but that was not at all the case. I have various people in the industry who will vouch for my "no-circulation" policy. He asked me to not air a certain part, and then gave me his address to send a copy to. I hooked up with Jaid from the Bible and went to see them June 29 in Hartford, again, camera in hand. Kenny remembered me, I gave him a copy of the Subzero show, and he hooked me up with the interview with Michale, allowed me to tape the whole show, and let Jaid and me hang out backstage for quite a while. Again, they were the nicest guys. Jerry remembered me, pulled out a chair for me, and gave me the patented JerryHug. I'm definitely going to the Action Park show, and hopefully the Asbury Park, Providence, and Boston shows. If anybody wants to hook up...email me! - Lycanthropie (formerly Fug-Ti) _______ at the Webster Theater, Hartford, Saturday, 6. 29. 96 Title of article: Misfits Resurrection of the Living Dead Hallelujia!!! Once again, they walk among us. For many fans ( "Fiends" ), the Resurrection Tour will be their first chance to see the legendary Misfits live - which, for me at least, is great since I was a toddler when they were active. They formed in early 1977, going through a series of drummers and guitarists until they "just went away" in 1983, upon singer/songwriter Glenn Danzig's departure - right at the pinnacle of their career . The only constants in the band were bassist Jerry Only and Glenn. In 1980, Jerry's younger brother Doyle joined the band at the age of 16, who has remained in the band since. While Danzig went on to widespread recognition, it seemed as though the remaining Misfits would never receive the attention they deserved. Jerry and Doyle are the two "original" Misfits ( the drummers all came down with Spinal Tap syndrome), and were nearly invisible during their thirteen year lull - though not of their own choice. According to the band, Jerry and Doyle always were the Misfits and always wanted to be the Misfits, but certain circumstances prevented Misfits activity. Legal obstacles (such as the question of just who held the title to the "Misfits" name) settled, their thirteen year lull ended upon their "Resurrection" last year, appropriately enough, on Halloween with a surprise appearance in the middle of a Type O Negative performance in New York City. Word spread like wildfire, as did the questions. Will Glenn be reuniting with them? How will they replace Glenn? Will time have mellowed them? Will they "sell out"? Are they in it for the money (Sex Pistols, anyone?)? Will they come across as something of a poor tribute band? What can we expect? According to Jerry, "The same thing as before, only better." I couldn't put it any better. And as far as Glenn returning? Contrary to some rumors, not anytime soon! Glenn seems to be anything but considerate concerning the new Misfits, going as far as overdubbing their tracks on the recent Misfits Collection II, and then not even subjecting it to their approval before its release. In fact, Jerry and Doyle approached Glenn amicably, asking him if he would like to reunite with the Misfits, only to have security guards remove them from the hotel where he was staying. To find a new vocalist, they didn't have to look too far. Michale Graves was introduced to the Misfits by local Lodi, NJ producer Bob Allecca. Prior to the suggestion that he audition for the "new" Misfits, he had absolutely no exposure to the band, though he says " I stole a Misfits T- shirt from my brother once - but I had no idea it was a Misfits shirt." And upon first hearing their music? " I went out and picked up the yellow CD (Collection I ), put it on the first song ( She ), listened to a few bars and said 'These guys suck.'. That was my first impression of them, swear to God." Just as interesting about Michale is his age ( 21 - the other members are into their thirties), which draws many comparisons to a young Glenn Danzig. Some critics say that his looks, stage movements, and voice are mirror images of Glenn. Michale can't see why. " I can't help the way I look. But I've looked at pictures and it's like...woah! And I don't know how he moved on stage, or anything like that. I've never watched any video footage- I kept away just for that purpose...I don't need to mimic anybody; what I do is what I do myself. As far as my voice, I can't control the way my voice sounds either. Singing the old songs- Glenn wrote the melody lines, and I'm singing his melody lines, so of course I'm gonna sound somewhat like him. That's the way he wrote it, and that's the way they that it was intended to be sung. So if i kinda sound like him, then I guess I'm doing my job half right." The new drummer is Dr. C.H.U.D. (Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Drummer - an homage to the 1980s low budget horror flick, C.H.U.D.), who far surpasses all those who came before him in terms of drumming ability and vocal ability., In keeping with the local theme, he is from Lodi, and even graduated high school with Doyle. Concerning their performance last Saturday at Hartford's Webster Theater, they hit the stage with an intensity the likes of which we have not seen in the past thirteen years. As far as time mellowing them out, they've only become more aggressive. They hit the stage and all hell broke loose! Ripping through the first half of their set, the second part consisted entirely of audience requests. Michale would point to an audience member, who would scream out his/her favorite song title, and then be invited onstage to sing along. Highlights included Bullet, Nike A Go Go, and the massive sing-a-longs Skulls, and We Are 138. Michale had to keep telling the security morons to let us go up on stage, however they remained quite uncooperative- this being my only complaint about the show. Never before have I seen such band/audience interaction - proving that the Misfits are not only THE most powerful live act out there, but also the most audience-considerate. Opening for the Misfits were Death Metal monoliths Cannibal Corpse, who went on first - while the Webster was filling up. They are touring to support their new masterpiece, Vile, which features the debut of new singer George "CorpseGrinder" Fischer. While there is some criticism of his replacing Chris Barnes, I was pleased to see just how well he fit into the band. Such classics as "Skull Full Of Maggots" and "Hammer Smashed Face" were given a "new life", if you will. His vocal style is rather similar to that of Barnes, only with more clarity and ferocity. Seeing them live, it is quite obvious why Cannibal Corpse is at the forefront of the Death Metal genre, and has been there for over half a decade. Expect them to remain there for a while to come. Next up was old favorites Anthrax. Whether your favorite style is punk, hardcore, death or speed metal - chances are that you somewhere have ties to Anthrax. Though many thought the band would go belly-up with the departures of former vocalist Joey Belladonna and more recently, lead guitarist Dan Spitz, they are alive, well, and apparently have been eating their vitamins, because their performance was amazing. Anthrax' delivery of songs new and old was flawless, and extremely energetic. Rhythm guitarist Scott Ian had the potential to incite a riot when he took over vocals for a cover of "Protest and Survive". Their brand of Stomp was warmly welcomed by the crowd. Much like the Misfits and Cannibal Corpse, Anthrax' not-so-n
