I guess if your a collector, but its "utility" value aint that high, especially cause you get it in the box set and that whole thing costs $55. Bobby wrote about hollywood records "It's a division of DISNEY, that christian family values corporation. The president is Peter Paterno - Glenn's former lawyer." its funny, cause the I believe 2 or 3 major US churches, including the Baptists, have boycotted Disney because of their "anti-family" practices, like actually allowing homosexuals into their theme park, and making a movie about a priest who molests kids (that never happens in real life). When > CDs first came out, they promised a decrease in price. Prices have actually > gone up. Who's robbing who? Uh.. If the companies only charged as much for CD's as it cost to make them, what would they give the artist? CD Manufacturing costs have dropped, yes. CD store prices had fallen slightly or remained nearly the same, I have never heard repots of the price increasing, and that's not what I see at the store. What this allows for is making smaller batches of a CD and still being able to turn a profit. This means that many LP's that were out of print for years due to low demand can be more easily re-released on CD. And that labels with large distribution can more easily sign low-volume acts. The companies have to turn a profit to stay in business to put out more music for me to listen to. On the other hand we don't really want to support fat cat executives and company jets, but there are tradeoffs in everything. The number of CD's in print concurrently is approaching the number of albums ever produced. Of course the fact that most of these Cd's SUCK is beside the point. And I get all my info from Wired anyway, so WHAT DO I KNOW?? If you like an album, you'll buy the CD cos that tape just wears out, ya know? I just think it's pretty tacky to offer tapes of a band's CD or to request same on a public mailing list that members and ex members of the band in question read!!! This post is too fucking long. I was worried when I heard that Glenn had fired the guy from Fight last weekend & wondered if Tommy from Prong would have enough time to learn the new songs & rehearse but he did a DAMN good job!! It took forever for them to come onstage as right after Sepultura played there was a blackout and the venue lost power & was running on emergency generators! I was terrifed that the show would be cancelled and I would get to see the show I'd been waitinga year and a half for. But luckily they regained power & proceeded with the show! Before they came on there was some beautiful dramatic classicial style music played - I wondered if it from from a forthcoming follow up to "Black Aria" as it was in that vein. I think this was the first time I'd ever seen Glenn on stage before the music started - he crept out in the dark before the lights came on & waited & then when the lights came on they started. They opened the set with "Mother" which got the crowd's attention RIGHT away & everybody was singing along. Glenn was wearing a short sleeved mesh shirt with the usual black jeans & cowboy boots & looked GREAT! He seemed to be enjoying himself a lot & glad to be back performing in the spotlights. Joey, Lazy and Tommy were dressed head to foot in the pre-requisite black (tho Tommy's shirt was shiny black vinyl) After "Mother" they did "Until You Call on the Dark" which was followed by a new song. The very beginning reminded me some of Nine Inch Nails and included some drum and rhythmn patterns played on a backing tape but when the song kicked in it sounded a lot more like the "traditional" Danzig sound so anybody who was afraid they'd go "industrial" has nothing to fear. They followed with "Her Black Wings", "It's Coming Down", "Dirty Black Summer" and "Deep" (sounding even better & stronger than on the X-files soundtrack - in my opinion it was one of the best they did live) Following "Deep" was another new song, this one much faster & harder (actually reminding me more of Samhain), then the crowd favorite "Twist of Cain" and finally "Long Way Back From Hell". It was really odd seeing a new band on stage and at first it was hard to really judge them as at the beginning I could only hear the drums and Glenn but as the show went on the guitar and bass got stronger & heavier and by the end they were REALLY rocking out and sounded terrific. The new songs are fantastic and now I am REALLY dying for the new album to come out. How will I ever wait 'til Halloween.... (BTW the white on black banner behind the band read "blackacidevil" all one word.... so is that "black aci - devil" or "black acid evil"??) Merchandise wise there are two new shirts available. One has a weird photo of Glenn done sort of as a positive/negative (possibly a solarized photo?) in shades of red on the front with the tour dates and "blackacidevil" on the back. The other has the Martin Emund drawing of Glenn incorporated into the Danzig skull design that was in some of the Verotik comics on the front with "blackacidevil" on the back (no tour dates on that one). They are also selling some of the comics - Death Dealer #2 and Satanika #0. ------------------------------ From: MDPPix@aol.com Date: Sun, 15 Sep 1996 14:12:59 -0400 Subject: What has the Bible come to????? Okay Adam Seven, if you hate all of us, stop reading To the guy who flamed me on Wednesday (sorry, I don't know who you are) I hoped you were joking, but I read thru your post about 5 times and realized you were serious. If you don't like to talk about the Misfits and Misfits related stuff 3 times a week, don't read the M.B. If you hate all of us, unsubscribe. It's as simple as that. What gets me is that you complain about us, but yet you receive the Misfits Bible and respond to it, and complain about the rest of doing essentially the same thing as you. What hypocrisy. Either read it and hate it, or stop reading it and be much happier. I hope I speak for many fellow Fiends in this message. I already own it" >i still stand firm on the fact >that dubbing the boxed set from someone else is not stealing Oh, Laura! You were doing so well. On this point the law is not on your side. This is not my opinion, this is fact. >no band is worth spending grocery money on OK, this one is my fault. When I said, "That money could have bought a lot of groceries," it was a figure of speech. From Laura's post above I have a little >trouble seeing that she has 'no appreciation for labor or hard work.' OK, I admit I was 'heavy handed'. But more on this later. She admits now that she does understand the labor that goes into a record. My point was that the best way to show anyone your appreciation for their work is to pay them fairly. I felt like she was telling the band, 'your work isn't worth my $.' >Are you saying that we should never >tape a musicians work? >You wouldn't own any Misfits bootlegs >would you? More on these points later. >Wow!! That the box set is a priority in anyone's life is totally >mind-blowing to me. Are you serious? Tell me again.....who has a >warped sense of values? Hmm. I think the point of my original post was that life is about priorities. You don't agree? Life is about making decisions. I made the decision that owning the box set was more important than owning something else. That's called prioritizing. As far as values, my point was, and still is, that Laura's values are in question when she casually says dubbing the box set instead of paying for it is OK. >You should always proofread before you call someone dumb. First of all, I thought the ideas in Laura's post were dumb. Still do. OK, I admit I'm a bad speller. Guilty as charged. But would you rather invite a bad speller into you house, or a thief. Furthermore, would you rather invite in someone who admits to thier bad spelling, or someone who consistently says stealing is not wrong. >From: undead@juno.com (Bobby Steele) >Hey Laura; I haven't gotten laid lately. No disagreement from me on this one. That's why it's important to support independant bands and labels. Ian MacKaye has gotten some shit from people on this list and elsewhere. But no one can accuse him of ripping people off. >Honestly, can you say before everyone here that you >have NEVER dubbed a copy of a movie, LP, CD, or paid money for an illegal >bootleg? OK, on the subject of bootlegs. First lets make 2 catagories. 1. Stuff that IS commercially available and 2. Stuff that is NOT commercially available. If you buy a bootleg or dub a copy of something that is officially available, you are stealing. If you buy a bootleg or dub a copy of something that in not officially available, you are not stealing. The law may say differently, but this is my opinion. If you own the box set, then you buy a bootleg of Cough/Cool 'cause yer a collector, I say fine. You've given the band their money for the recording. You shouldn't have to pay for it twice. If you own the box set, then you dub a copy of WAU 'cause that stuff isn't on the set, not cool. You should pay the band for their work. The point being that the band should get paid for the official stuff they put out. If I buy a copy of 'Why Be Something You're Not' I haven't taken any money from the band, 'cause they're not trying to sell it. Am I a hypocrite? Absolutly. I will say a majority of the stuff I have copies of originals of, is stuff I only marginally wanted. But I also have copies of rare originals. I have a friend making me a copy of Rollins' "Hammer of the Rock Godz" 'cause I've only seen it once in my life and it was $30. I I were to see it again at a more modest price, I would snatch it up. This post is getting WAY to long. If anybody actaully cares about my opinion on this subject, e-mail me and we'll talk. -Bricks >From: Dave Asselin >If getting some CDs was a priority on your life, you need to get out more. I have found that different places sell it for different prices. Also if you check your local used store you are bound to find one that some poor fiend who was down on their luck had to sell, so they could buy some of glenn's back hairs from Wes Thomas. I have seen this as a matter of fact I have seen it twice! I picked up mine when the box first came out. Then I found one at a used store fro 35 bux and just recently I got another from a store going out of buisness for 30 bux. Also after listening to Danzig of late I am one to think that maybe he should just close the book on "Danzig the band" and just go by Glenn or Glenn Danzig. I mean I used to think that Glenn was the whole band but it just isnt gonna be the same. Dont get me wrong I still love Glenn but it isnt really "Danzig". Now that that is a valid point lets see some responces to that! To the guy who wants to tape the box set, to each his own. I myself could deal with the inferior quality that a dubbed copy would give me. And any true fiend surely needs these on cd. But hey I kinda agree we as fans got fucked on the box set thing cuz they put C1, C2, and LOB in the damn thing. I just got in from their second date, opening for Ozzy, and Im truly impressed. Tommy Victor and Lazie are definite improvements over John and Eerie. Now I know alot of you are going to disagree, but the 2 new dudes act- ually moved around the stage and played to the crowd, instead of just standing there and playing. I really like the stage prescence of Lazie. He didn't seem to have any stagefright at all, especially playing in front of a 15,000 plus crowd and it being only his second show. Tommy Victor's sound is a little bit higher than John's but I thought he covered the material quite well. It is now understandable how John couldn't play the new material as it is very fast. I can't think of the names of the 2 new songs but they both ripped. Both were aggressive and frantic, with the new industrial edge adding a new sound to the music. Glenn's voice was in top form as well as Joey's drumming. All in all Danzig is far from dead!! Hello to all my fave fiends everywhere... I guess i should start this out with a compliment. To the Crimson Ghost. That was a great flame Jim, just incredible how you ripped me apart infront of close to 800 people. Though one slight flaw you have there dear, you just don't have the fucking balls to flame Michale after he called you an asshole. Instead you attacked me cause you though i'm such an easy target, right? Am I supposed to get upset now and e-mail you asking why you did this to me? Fuck that shit cause i don't need to waste my time on you. Now to clear some stuff up since you seem to believe that you know me and obviously you don't. You know i have never been to a Danzig signing, which there have only been 2 of in the 5 times that the band came to Miami/FortLauderdale. Actually i was called 2 weeks prior to one show by the tour manager who had invited me to hang out with the band for a couple hours before their set. That was the first time i got to meet Glenn. You know you should talk to Mark before you post and get your facts straight. See I never came out on the Bible as some self proclaimed Misfits Deity as you have. I have always and will always consider myself as just one of the fiends. No better than one no worse than another. Though again it is obvious that you do not share the same views that all the fiends on the bible are equal. As for my life, well it looks like your the one who has a problem with "My Life." I've brought up this point only in defence of those who are stupid enough to say i don't have one. It seems you are the one with who lacks the life if you flame people for no reason what so ever. Plus, i though you said you were leaving? Though you get flamed by several other people and you jump back on just to flame me. That make a lot of sence!?! Now what were you saying about better things to do? Mark correcting me all the time, shit Dave i'm sorry i got your e-mail address wrong!!! Fucking make an error like that and get the shit beaten out of you. Plus the other bit was on the Glenn VS Jerry deal, i've been told stuff, you have he has. At this point who cares anymore. Though i guess you seem to think i am screwing up the bible with what i do. Bad Tammy, Bad Tammy, how dare you say anything at all. I've seen some strange shit in this place but what the hell they are not me. This is what it is Jim, stop kissing up to Michale and tell him what you have to say about you being an asshole. Bet if Glenn was involved in the bible you would have never complimented Michale and would have flamed him big time for calling you an asshole. Just as if he was another fiend subscriber. Did you say dope or cope with the fact that Michale was right all along and you are truely an asshole? Let's get it together here Jim, maybe a couple more of your pills and some nice warm milk will help. Now on to the other asshole. Adam, sorry i have not responded to your e-mail, but Bobby doesn't like it when i deal with strangers who e-mail me out of the blue like that. Plus i can't date you. Bobby is picky about who i see without him. So i think its time you find someone else to court. I guess not everyone can be as lucky as 20eyes. And to think this used to be a nice place to post. Say two words and get your fucking head bashed in. Adamn#15 thank you for saying what needed to be said about the Bible t-shirt. though i think that would be one hell of a thing for the folks at Pizza Hut seeing and dealing with 800+ Misfits Bible Members. Though i still would love to know what happened at Wolfies when i sent the Misfits there to get Dinner before the show!?! To set the pre scene for everyone who has never been to this place. Deli, older area of MiamiBeach, hangout of all the old people in the area. Its anyones guess, or just basic chaos. well that is all for now and again this is the last day to send in songs for the contest. Keep on sending in your Misfits Bible T-shirt orders to Dave Naked. Its been real as always. Jim maybe you can find a new set of balls on the internet. Later to all the fiendies(you know this is in code for punk dreams coming true or is it if you say it with your head in the toilet saying it 777 times really fast, who knows, unless someone tried it). oh and Mark, don't work to hard on this little frankenstein, it might one day come to life, go find Jim and bite him in the ass!?! Adam, I forwarded your non-Misfits post directly to tes777 since it had no Misfits content at all. --- I was hoping that I could just keep in the shadows and let this mailing list go the way it wanted to go. I have watched it go from a Glenn Danzig fan club to a Jerry-and-Doyle-are-the-greatest list, from a Bobby-sucks list to a Bobby's-the-greatest list, etc. I'm here for information. I learn a lot about the bands that I like from just dealing with other fans, and I enjoy talking with other fans from time to to time, as many others on this list do. That's the reason I started it. In the beginning, we all seemed to be friends with common interests. The Misfits were a mysterious band that we all loved, and most of us were fans of the other related bands. Then, like now, I tried to keep my opinion out of things and just stick to the facts. I knew how little accurate info there was out there and thought the mailing list would be a good way to discuss the true story of the band. In the past several months it's gotten worse and worse. Each issue is more and more cluttered with people flaming or slandering each other for no purpose. Misfits discussion decreases each issue. I notice that a lot of the people who complain about flaming go ahead and flame someone else, thus contributing to the waste. There's also a disturbing number of male "tough guys" specifically targetting the female subscribers, for what reasons I can't imagine. Is this an accurate reflection of the intelligence of the normal Misfits fan? Sometimes I think so. This is a band and its mailing list we're talking about. It's not just any band - this is a band with lyrics like "I raped your mother today." It's pretty much impossible to take stuff like that seriously, and I hope nobody does. This mailing list shouldn't be taken too seriously either. After all, its value is close to nothing as a means of accomplishing anything beneficial. I didn't make this mailing list so I could sit here and preach in front of 850 people, but I guess it's time. I have received too many unsubscriptions and complaints to do nothing. Am I going to shut this mailing list down? No - it's pretty easy to operate and it doesn't take nearly as much of my time as it used to. I was hoping I could let everyone have their 'freedom of speech' but it seems that some limits need to be put in place. There are several options: 1) shut down the list. 2) leave it the way it is. 3) change it to a once-every-few-weeks Misfits update with posts only from me or band members. 4) leave it as a discussion list (as it is now) but delete non-Misfits related posts. I have thought seriously about option #3. It would cut down on a lot of the work I do, and would only go out when there really was something of immediate value in the Misfits world going on. Unfortunately, it would totally eliminate discussion. Option #4 would be pretty easy, and could be extended to include flaming and other related things. Some things are funny (as Wes Thomas is intended to be) and other things are not, but if people would rather not see that kind of stuff, I can filter it out. It would certainly make the issues a lot smaller. I have already started forwarding personal messages and deleting religious posts. If I were to do #4, I could take out about 10 messages that are currently waiting to go out in the next issue. I'll take a vote. Anyone who has an opinion can email it to me - just don't expect me to respond to them all. Pick one of those choices and let me know what you think. I'll make the changes by the time the Friday issue is out. That's all for this issue. The rest of the stuff that's been sent in (about 33 messages so far) will be included in Friday's issue. Just to add to the Misfits content of this issue, here's the current update: HALLOWEEN SHOW? --------------- It has been confirmed. The Misfits are looking into doing three shows around the time of Halloween. They will hopefully be doing one show at The Chance in Poughkeepsie, NY on the 29th or Nov 1, one show at the Trocadero in Philadelphia on Halloween and a show at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC on the 30th or the 1st of November. EUROPE TOUR? ------------ The tour was originally schedule for November and has now been postponed until April so the band can concentrate on recording material for the new album - more on that later... GEFFEN RECORDS? --------------- Geffen Records has been visiting Misfits shows since July at the Milwaukee MetalFest. They showed up at some of the west coast shows and then again on the east coast for the Vernon, NJ and Asbury Park, NJ shows. They got together with the band last Thursday and will be getting together with them again this Thursday. There is a high probability that the band will sign with Geffen in the next few weeks for future Misfits releases. Interestingly enough, Geffen distributed the first two Danzig records... NEW ALBUM? ---------- The new album will be recorded in the next few months. The band plans to have the entire album done by February. There are currently about 25 new Misfits songs. In May, they recorded the following 7 songs: Mars Attacks * Dead King's Rise * The Hunger * Blacklight The Haunting * Talons Of Steel * Dr. Phibes Rises Again Since then Jerry has written about 5 more, Michale & Doyle have written 5 more together, and Dr. Chud has written about 5 of his own. We can expect to see 13 to 17 of these songs on the next release, presumably on Geffen Records. The band has decided not to do the proposed "Blacklight" and "Mars Attacks" singles and instead devote their time to the album. ANIMAL ROOM? ------------ During November of last year, The Misfits were filmed live for the upcoming movie "Animal Room." This movie should come out (finally) within the next month or so. FUTURE TOURS? ------------- The band has terminated its relationship with KK&F who manages Type O Negative. Suggestions for places to play should now be directed to Rocky Caiafa of The Misfits and NOT Ken Kriete of KK&F. Email me (msk4m@virginia.edu) for more info on how to reach Rocky. MERCHANDISE? ------------ The Fiend Club has a lot of stuff in stock. As always, send $ to Misfits Fiend Club; PO Box 310; Vernon, NJ 07462 and make checks payable to Cyclopian Music Inc. If you don't remember from last issue, option #4 involved the deletion of non-Misfits related posts and personal flames. Now, just to clear this up, Misfits related DOES include Danzig, Undead, Samhain, Chyna, horror, etc, so it's not that big of a change. The majority of the messages I received fully supported group discussion, although some people took #3 (update posts from me and band members only) as it was a lot more simple to wade through. Here are the results so far: Option 1 (stop list): 0 votes Option 2 (leave the same): 2 votes Option 3 (updates only): 18 votes Option 4 (moderated discussion): 53 votes Keep issues smaller: 10 votes Newsgroup: 3 votes Cancel all subscriptions and see who re-subscribes: 2 votes Make a set of rules: 5 votes Interestingly enough, a huge amount of people said they would like to keep Wes Thomas posts, but delete the rest of the flamers and imitators. I have made a set of rules, so I can become Big Brother (!) within the next few issues. It's unfortunate that it has to be that way, but hopefully it will help. The rules involve keeping posts to Misfits-related content, no flaming, banning repeat offenders, etc. Basically I took the old rules that the Crimson Ghost made about 2 years ago and updated them. They follow this message directly. I will be enforcing these rules. In this issue alone, I deleted or forwarded 8 messages. A lot of people mentioned that they had seen this sort of thing destroy good mailing lists before. The KISSArmy mailing list went down last month for the same reason. A lot of people had some good suggestions, and I thank you for that. Brent Eyestone had a particularly interesting idea - Mondays should be for band updates and Wed/Fri should be for discussion. That might be an interesting thing to try. Ideally, last issue will help get things back to normal and allow people like EVB and PRH to post without being harassed by the Glenn haters... --- On to other things. #1) I now have even more updated information on the Halloween shows: 10/29 or 10/30 The Chance Poughkeepsie NY 10/31 Trocadero Philadelphia PA 11/1 9:30 Club Washington DC #2) Several of you asked about the wall plaques and models. What's all this crap with people accusing each other of not "having lives?" This has always been the lamest insult on these e-mail lists, because obviously none of us have lives or we wouldn't be reading and posting here. But seriously, this comes down to basically insulting someone for caring about the very same list you obviously care about (otherwise you wouldn't bother to read it and feel compelled to tell the others on it that they don't have lives). 2. Where I live, CD prices ARE going up, you can pay up to $17.99 for a new CD if you go to those crappy mall stores. 3. Yes, dubbing is stealing, but I am fully in support of stealing. Granted, if a band is waiting for their next check from the record company to buy a few burrito supremes, it really sucks; but if you really want the new Van Halen album, christ, go ahead and dub it, they're rich as fuck. And no, Bobby Steele, I'm not saying I want my favorite bands to live hand to mouth - there's a big difference between starvation and bigtime rock stardom. 4. Wes Thomas is the king of the Misfits Bible, I supported him even when he first appeared and others wanted him off the list. Really, I just want him to come over and toss my salad. MissFit ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Sep 1996 15:05:14 PST Subject: Re: Misfits Bible, #231 From: undead@juno.com (Bobby Steele) I have to speak out in defense of Crimson Ghost. As you might already know; I met CG on this bible. He was the first person to ream me over my attacks on Jerry back in March. He was willing to LISTEN to my side of the story, and gradually came out in my support. HE DOES KNOW JERRY. There is no reason to doubt that fact. I'm getting sick and tired of seeing people flaming my former #1 enemy on this page over things you know nothing about. One thing Jim has, that most people lack is INTEGRITY. He had the guts to defend Jerry in the beginning, and he had the balls to come out here and admit he was wrong when he saw my point. Sure, he comes on like some bull-headed arrogant asshole ocaisionally, but he's got a heart of gold. Like Michale would say; "leave the guy alone". On the tape copying subject - before Laura M becomes the second most hated person on this page - this is what I can tell you: The BOX SET costs $27.00 to make. With all the custom packaging in there, everything has to be made 'special'. The molds for the jewel cases, the Static Age box and the coffin has to be specially fabricated. Caroline charges about $35 to $40 for it. That's an 8 to 13 dollar mark-up. Unless a special agreement has been made; Glenn gets about $6.00 for the songwriting. I can't imagine that leaves much for the band and label. Based on the Recording Piracy Act, of 1972 "it is illegal to make unauthorized copies of copyrighted recordings". My interpretation of this law is that - if you go into a concert and tape it; that recording is not copyrighted. Even though it may not be 'right' to sell these kind of bootlegs - it's really not illegal (unless they've re-written that law). The ACT of '72 covers only making counterfeit copies of legit records - which does take money out of the artists pockets. My opinion ? For what it's worth: if you buy the CD, and you want to make a cassette to play in your car, or just to keep from beating on the original . . . it's okay. If you have a hard-to-find recording, and your friend wants to have a copy . . . fine ! If you're making a copy in the hopes of turning on a NEW fan . . . it's in the artist's best interest. If you're gonna make multiple copies to distribute for th e sole purpose of preventing the legitimate sale . . . that's not right. It's hard to prove what the actual intent is in this case - there are some gray areas here. THE FACT IS: because of the problem of taping records, the Home Recording Rights Act was made into law. This Act attached a tax on all blank tapes. I think it's $.01/minute. This money is supposed to be distributed to the artists to 'compensate for the lost income from taping'. When you tape the BOX SET, guess who's getting that money ? Glenn ? Jerry ? No ! Most likely, you'll be supporting Madonna and Michael Jackson by taping MISFITS and UNDEAD records. It's really up to you. We've all done this. And it's gonna continue, but at least if you know what the deal is - you can make an informed choice. I don't think anyone here has the intention of ripping us off. You just don't understand a very complex legal issue. If you can't find anything by THE UNDEAD, or if you're not sure if you're gonna like it . . . ask someone to copy some stuff for ya. If you like it . . . make a point of buying the next UNDEAD thing you see. It's a double edge sword, so use your conscience. LAURA: no hard feelings here. I read this list because sometimes people have cool things to say, and most of the petty shit--I ignore. But to get to my point, as far as I know, all of the Misfit's Videos that float around are bootlegs (if I'm wrong tell me). I have most of them and try to send copies to anyone who wants them at basically cost. This may take me a little while to get the vids out, but anyone who wants something will get it. I posted a couple of bibles back criticizing the prices Mr. Cotter was asking for videos. As far as I know (unless he was the camera man, and if he was, I apologize), these cannot be originals. So he is dubbing copies of boots, which he has the right (as much as I do) to do that; or selling boot copies he bought at record or video stores. If you did buy these at the prices you are asking, I'm sorry--you got ripped off. But other Misfit's fans should not have to pay these prices to get boot videos. The T-shirts, Vinyl, and other stuff you are selling--I know nothing about, but when you ask for (from your post): MISFITS- Braineaters promo video- fair qlty-$10.00 MISFITS- California 1981-fair qlty- $15.00 MISFITS-Flipside -Boston 1982-good qlty- $15.00 MISFITS-Why be something your not!-Michigan -exc. qlty-$20.00 MISFITS-Goltetto Santa Barbara-good qlty $18.00 It is ridicules. I'm not sure which California show youu're talking about and would have to make sure about the flipside (that is if I have it), but I have the other three at the same or better quality, and would put them on one tape for someone for $10 bucks (and add whatever else the person wanted that I have to fill up a 120 minute tape). Like I said, if you have some sort of special edition (which as far as I know doesn't exsist) I could understand the price. But if you got these as copies from other collectors or payed an exorhbinate price at an outlet store, why couldn't you just put these all on one tape? And distribute boot vids, without profiting? Just my opinion If anyone is interested, here is what I have. It's $10 (pre-paid) per 120 minute tape, and sorry, but it usually takes me 2-4 weeks to get a copy out. Coney Island, NY (1995, 29 minutes) Stone Pony, NJ (1996, 75 minutes) Danbury, CT (1996, 75 minutes) Bethleham, PA (1982, 36 minutes) Creepy Compilation (1983, aprox 2 hours) Skulls, Halloween, and Braineaters Promos (about 5 minutes each) Eagles Lodge (1982, 13 minutes), a better version than what I have on the Creepy Bookies (1981, 27 minutes) Dirt ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Sep 1996 22:43:37 -0400 (EDT) From: Daniel Rodrigues Subject: Blackaciddrod fiends, A few things to note here: 1. I can firmly say that Mr. Bricks has not missed to many meals in his days. So I dont think he sacrificed much to get it. and while we are on prioritizing things, I did the same I am in school and it was very important to me to get the box set ASAP, so I preordered it, I saved what I could and I figured out how to get it. It isnt a sacrifice ort making a major life decision to save $60. I mean I wouldnt put getting the box up there with breathing but on a scale of material items that I desired at the time it was #1 on my list. I mean sure it may have cost me and now I cant buy a bag of glenn's back hairs from wess, or that shiney red truck I always wanted but hey "It's all about sacrifice" 2. As for bootlegs I see no prob in them I mean if bands really would get on the stick they would just get these things to their fan base so that you dont need to buy them. I mean look at Chris Ternes! I know that when I see sumthin that he doesnt6 have I pick it up so that I can send it to him and every thing can be available through him to all of us. And all of you should do the same. 3. Now on to Crimson Ghost.... Now he may not of been the most liked person here but he doesnt deserve the spite that all you have given him. Through it all he was a fan, although he may have been a little upset with the band at the end. By no means does he deserve to be insulted and ridiculed, and that goes for everyone here. And it was wrong when he would go after Tess777, but that was between them. And I know cause he and I had it out on a few occasions, and as much as I wanted to hate the guy or go run and bad mouth him to the Jerry I didnt cuz that is between him and Jerry. So the guy didnt see eye to eye with everything everyone said, and yeah maybe he got a little to big for his britches somtimes. But that is his perogative. And like it or not he would spew out some good stuff now and then. And atleaste he had the balls to come out and say what he thought, that is better then how so many people just kiss so much ass to whom ever gets on here who is close or was or is in the misfits. So peace to the Crimson Ghost, may he rest in peace. There will never be another. thats all for now D-Rod ------------------------------ From: J.Baldry@mail.nerc-swindon.ac.uk Date: Tue, 17 Sep 1996 10:39:34 GMT Subject: Tommy Victor/Prong Although it's great to hear that Danzig now has such an excellent guitar player helping out I have been told that Tommy Victor is still very much part of Prong who in turn are still very much an ongoing concern. If the Victor/Danzig partnership DOES continue to a writing/recording stage I think it could well result in a pretty amazing album... that's if they haven't killed each other in the process. Julian ------------------------------ From: Igrat666@aol.com Date: Tue, 17 Sep 1996 05:40:47 -0400 Subject: Danzig - Philadelphia Core States Center, Sunday September 15th The 2nd show of the tour took place in Philadelphia at the newly opened CoreStates center, home of the Philadelphia Flyers. This place is a HUGE arena and is easily the largest venue I ever saw Danzig in. Unfortunately even tho I'd called and charged my tickets th every moment they went on sale I still ended up in the nosebleed seats. I think the scalpers bought all the good ones - I ran into a gal I'd met before at a Bighouse show who'd bought tix in the front row from a scalper for a whopping $225! Ozzy must have a lot of rich crazy fans! Given that choice I'd rather put my money towards seeing more shows later (as I hope they will eventually do a headlining tour when the new album comes out) First up was a local band who badly wanted to be Alice in Chains, then Sepultura who were again quite good. And then, the moment we'd waited for, the reappearance of Danzig! This time they used the more traditional opening music from Black Aria (I still wonder what the music they iused at Merriweather Post Pavillion was!!???) Again, the stage lights came on and they surged into "Mother" with Glenn again clad in the black mesh shirt. I couldn't quite make out what Lazy and Tommy were wearing except it was all black, Joey bucked the Danzig fashion ettique by wearing a white shirt. The crowd of course all recognized it & roared & sand along. From "Mother" they went into "Until You Call On the Dark" & then the first of two new songs, "Sacrifice". I had a great time dancing along to this - yes dancing, not something I would ordinarily say about Danzig. It's got a really strong beat to it & I'm sure if it got some airplay it would be a big hit. Unfortunately towards the beginning of the set they were having some sound problems so it was a bit hard to hear everything but luckily this got fixed so we were ablwe to fully enjoy the rest of the show. They followed with "Her Black Wings", "It's Coming Down", "Dirty Black Summer", and "Deep" and then the 2nd new song which Glenn introduced as " 7th house". Since I'd first heard it I'd been trying to pin down what it reminded me of and the 2nd time I heard it I was able to say what - the Samhain version of "All Hell". It's a fast pounding song that takes Glenn back to his earlier roots. They followed "7th house" with "Twist of Cain" and ended on "Long Way Back .From Hell". The crowd REALLY dug the show - there was a tremendous amount of applause and I was especially happy to see them diggin' the new songs! I hope this tour gets Glenn a lot of new fans Glenn moved around a lot on the wide stage & obviously was enjoying shaking hands with the fans in the front. Lazy and Tommy are very active and bounce around quite energetically. In all a fantastic show (marred only by being painfully far back - boy do I hate arenas!). How will I live until the new album comes out & I get to hear these new songs again! crossing my fingers for a headlining tour - SOON! ------------------------------ From: "JOSEPH M. On to, the t-shirt thing: Now listen up cause we need to get this straight. We did the t-shirt voting with all sort of detailing, what you people wanted the shirt to look like, where the main design would go, where the logo would go, even as far as what the main design should look like. We spent over a month on voting alone. This is where we are, we have a great looking design, which applies to us. We function as a group on a computer three times a week, we don't have weekly meeting where we see everyone and so the design depicts exactly what we are. Don't get me wrong, i like John's design too but his did not get as many votes as Greg's did. Fair is fair. Shit give Greg some fucking credit here, he's been busting his ass for months on this thing. It didn't end after he won, he was then informed that he had to refine the design, prep it for the silkscreening process (which is not easy) plus it also ment paying for supplies to do all of the above. Prepping a design for the internet is easy compared to what he had and is still doing to this moment. So cut the guy som slack here. And let's get off the holier than Punk crap. The fact is we are talking about a t-shirt that will be rarer than some of the original Misfits records. Over the past year, talk about the Misfits or related topics has gotten less and less frequent. I'd rather read those Glenn Vs. Jerry posts than all the "flames" that are posted. But who's to blame for this? Mark? No. Mark runs it but he's not an editor. He's just the operator. Do you want him to make shit up if no one posts in anything good? If you don't like the way the Bible's going, if you don't like the posts, either do something about it or unsubscribe. It's that easy. Don't bitch and complain about it. What do you expect anyone to do about it? Don't just sit there waiting to be entertained like a veal and then whine about it when you don't like the way things are going. Do something about it. Post something. A lot of the posts complaining about the Bible are coming from people I've never even heard of before. Where the fuck have you been for the last two years? If you want to unsubscribe, who stopping you? Do you think someone's going to beg you not to? Don't make a fucking federal case about it. This isn't an active/inactive thing so don't get all pissy in that respect. If you don't post often, that's fine. If you post all the time, that's fine too. But this isn't a magazine. This isn't a t.v. show. Don't wait around to be fucking entertained or humored. Mark's not a dancing monkey here to give you something to do. If you don't like the Bible anymore, than just unsubscribe, deal with it (like I am), or do something about it. Just don't bitch about it because you're not going to get anywhere. If you really want to give the Bible a boost, post something of value or don't post anything at all. If people aren't going to post things of value or substance then, oh well, I guess they won't then. But if you have something to say about the Misfits, Samhain, Danzig, the Undead, etc., then say it. Maybe another person will follow suit. And then another. Then another. How do you think this list started in the first place? If you don't like what I'm saying, I don't care. From what I understand *one* of the reasons this list was started was for the purpose of disbursing information and to talk about the Misfits (and related bands). At the time, many people had a very limited knowledge about the band itself, so there was quite a lot to be written at the time. As time went on, more people joined and the bible got bigger, people got caught up on all the details (or thought they did), so people started sending in less informative, more opinionated posts. Now it seems as though it has disintegrated to little more than a trice weekly package of back-biting bullshit. I really don't know how Mark can stand it sometimes. I would be furious if I created something and had to sit there and watch people ruin it. Here is a rather novel idea, some of you might want to try it: When you feel that someone has hurt your fragile little feelings (how some of you let this happen, I will never understand, but to each there own), look at the header of the offending post. Contained there-in you will find the offenders e-mail address. Write it down if you must. Next, e-mail the offender and take it up with them in privacy of your computers. You see, that way you don't bother the rest of us who are only interested in what is going on with the Misfits and "How was the show?". I like playing my favorite new game though... "Whose Account Did Wes Break Into This Time??". Some of you are not very good at it. You also haven't figured out that it is best to either ignore him if he really bothers you or just smile and play along. One last thing before I get to the Misfits stuff. #misfits on the Undernet. If you happen to be on IRC, hop on the undernet and stop in and say Hello. We need fresh blood. I will warn you ahead of time we don't talk about the Misfits all the time. We can if you want to though. If no one happens to be saying anything, start a conversation. We don't bite (well, not strangers). While I'm on the subject, just because it is called #misfits, it does not make it misfits related and relevant to post to the bible about what goes on in there. They are two entirely separate entities. We also If you happen to go to the channel and have a problem with someone DO NOT: A)Come here and cry about it, or B) Post parts of a logged conversation. What you need to do is either get over it, or, if it tugs at you poor heart so violently that you must tell someone, e-mail me. The misfits bible is a great resource and provides a lot of entertainment. But it turned into a bunch of babble and bullshit in the last 6 months or so. I don't think it's that the subscribers are assholes or anything. Most people who are into the misfits tend to be pretty level headed and insightful (beside the newbie guys who are like 14, no offense but i was like that at that age). But at the same time, a lot of them are used to talking to their friends and bullshiting, and not talking to 800 people at once. So they tend to fill the thing up with crapZ_4$. And so my feeling is, take the crap out please. GRAVES GONE>>>? A friend of mine told me on SUNDAY that Mi Michael(sp) Graves has been kicked out of the band about a week - week and a half ago. I am the master of procrastination, however...hopefully I'll get that straightened out soon. *******D********* Der Kommissar *****KDK********* ahren@hotmail.com ***DKDKD********* "Unholy water *KDKDKDK********* sanguine addiction DKDKDKDKD********* those silver bullets KDKDKDKDKDK********* a last blood benediction" --------------------------------------------------------- Get Your *Web-Based* Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com --------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Sep 1996 12:48:16 EDT From: "Whittle, Patrick R." What's up with the Misfits bible T-Shirts? I E-mailed Dave Naked but didn't get any mail back, and yes I mailed him at his juno address. First off, I want to say that I just got the box set yesterday and it's well worth $52. On the subject of stealing from the band by making dubs of the box set, I don't see what the big deal is. Everyone has made a copy of a CD, and the only thing on the box set that is really rare (music wise) is the sessions CD. Most of the other stuff you can get on CD at BEST BUY. Even if they do make copies of all of the CD in the set, they still won't have the book, the pin, or the coffin box. So what if you make a copy of the CDS? Some people might not have the 50 or 60 dollars to spend on the set. Yes, I worked hard to get the money for the box set. But I also don't have any bills to pay or any groceries to buy, so I can afford to spend the money. If you can afford the money, buy it, it's worth it! But if you can't, find a friend who does and get a copy. I'd do it for my friends. wes E-mail me at wes16@geocities Visit my haomepage at http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Alley/1316 ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Sep 1996 19:49:23 -0700 From: Otto Subject: new fit's album What is the new misfits album going to be called? It's been a while since I posted, mostly as I didn't have any particular news & didn't want to be involved in the flame wars. So anyway I've got some news to pass on that I felt would be of interest to some of you (if you are reading the bible for Misfits info only & have no interest in Danzig you can just skip ahead) Finally got a chance to catch up with Glenn on the current tour & talk to him a bit & wanted to pass along some of what he told me. Like we know, the new album "blackacidevil" will be out Oct 31st on Hollywood Records. The Martin Emund drawing on the promo flyers with the (variant of the skull w/ Glenn worked in) is not the cover after all, he wouldn't tell me what it looks like & is gonna make me wait! Anyway, "blackacidevil" is also the title of one of Glenn's fav cuts on the album, as is "Come Silver" which is a song he originally wrote for Johnny Cash and after Cash decided not to use it he felt it ws too good to go unrecorded. This is the one that Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains played guitar on. He'll be back on the road doing a headlining tour in January along with Lords of Acid which would be a cool double bill (hopefully this should draw a less violent crowd than the last couple tours - I'm tired of crowd surfers kicking me in the head!) Can't wait til then! On the Verotik front there's some new projects in the works including several new series (I am slipping the name of the one about the albino spider woman now..). "Verotika East" will be another anthology title with all Japanese artists that is supposed to be really strange and bizarre - more so than what they've done so far. They will also be doing ano
