Well, I think this person sounded reasonable. What IS the purpose of
being rough in the pit? I don't mind people dancing a bit, and I
know people will be colliding, but why try to?
why run into people? why elbow people trying to watch?
Shouldn't you go to a concert to hear the band?
I know I do...
well, at punk shows you might NOT want to hear the band.
So I guess you can go on kicking arse.

Mr Thomas Undermine politely asked me to engage in oral sex(no thank
you), and then said this:
>Just because you don't know the definition of icon or can't accept the

I know what an icon is, it's just that I don't think that a punk icon
is that great of a status.

>fact that some people regard art as a sacred offering of some sort,

What?! Now punk is ART?!
If I sit on the street and beat myself over the head with a salami
(which, like punk, anyone can do), is that art, too?

>about. I don't want to see this integrity flushed down the toilet by

Oh... now I'm a poser. Listen buddy, I know what I like. Do you see
me trying to fit into your so-called punk "lifestyle". At least I
have an open enough mind to listen to other types of music, including
"MTV pop crap".
Get off of yourself, and YOU watch what words you use.
Don't call someone something when you have no reason to say it.
I know what a goddam icon is-- now YOU tell me why I'm an effing
poser.

I don't attend "punk" shows. and when I did, I'm sorry I didn't kick

I think that many of the new subscribers should probably read the
information provided on Mark's page or do some kind research on the
Misfits before posting. Once this was a forum for some very relevant
discussion regarding Mis./Sam./Dan./Und. but it has now deteriorated to
the sort of newsgroup type foundationless remarks that were once unheard
of here in the Bible.  For almost the first time ever I agree with CG;
Big Daddy Roth, Anzalone, Talus: these things were discussed many times
long ago. What about new subscribers? Every Bible backissue can be
read on Mark's page. Maybe after reading them, you can understand the
regression that has occurred. I know that some you know what I mean.
I only subscribed recently, but I've been readind the Bible via the web
page since the days when everyone was talking about 4p and Metallica's
summer tour. Misfits related topics were discussed back then with
insight by the likes of CG and EVB and the rest ( you know who you are.)
Also, I can't beleive that Danzig can be considered off the subject
when entire issues go by with hardly any mention of the Misfits(excl.
the moot Geffen "debate"), but plenty of talk about the definition of
punk. This list has become a digital means for punks who got into punk
two months ago to tell those who got into punk one month ago that they
are posers. I don't mean to generalize, but this sort of
punkedness/selling-out theme that has taken over is not exactly breaking
new ground. Perhaps only after neo-punk popularity dies, just as its
infinitely more respectable predecessor did, this list will return to
its former self. Yes, the Misfits are/were considered by some to be a
punk band, but that doesnt make this the punk forum any more than it is
a Danzig forum. In short, the fact that most that most of the more
recent subscribers are punks of some kind doesn't defeat the relevance
of the original purpose of the Bible: to discuss the Misfits and related
bands(with insight, not ignorance and personal attacks.)

Im still trying to sort out my feelings on this one...I attended a record
release signing of "Blackacidevil" with (of course) Glenn Danzig. I get
there, sure im in a good mood....giddy i guess you could call it. I see
him there, a take a few pictures...pretty damn happy. I hand him "Earth
AD" gold cd, and Collection II and say:

"Hi Glenn...by the way, do you remember Denmom Patricia Ragan??"

(Glenn just stares) "yes, from the punk magazine"

Totally godamn emotionless. Not a smile, not anything. (right now Im
listening to my copy of V...the biggest piece of goddamn shit). Ok,
fine. I hand him my jacket to sign, along with Collection II. He signs
the jewel case of Collection II...What the fuck is that!!?? What am i
gonna do with an autographed jewel case??!!?? God, i go for another
question.

"So Mr. Zig...whats your favorite Misfits song??"

"I dont have one"

"So you like him all, huh?"

"Yeah, i guess" (very sarcastic smile)

This hurts a bit...I look up to this guy, he could be a bit nicer. Come
on, i buy all that shit. I *did* take a few pictures, and got a smile
for one. I guess im just over reacting, and expected something
different. Did anyone else have experiences with him at an autograph
session...how did it go???

More later,
dave

Hey, CG, don't let your head get too big, but I totally agreed with this. The
Green Day thing was funny too, even if you did use a line from the Megadeth

Actually, it has a bit to do with The Misfits. The Dwarves' guitarist, He Who
Can Not Be Named, got his name not because he was into ancient Celtic and
Druidic religions, but because he was a Samhain fan. When they opened for
Mudhoney, they used to play "Who Killed Marilyn?". OK, and not to make you
feel like an idiot, but they faked his death in 1993 to make the band more
popular. After finding out that he was indeed still alive, Sub Pop Records
dropped the band. It was all over the tabloids a few years ago. Even the
Weekly World News. See, while knowing almost nothing about early 20th century
horror, I do know quite a lot of useless information about punk rock.

Heard 'em? Hell I owned 7"s or LPs by all but two of those bands. Look, I'm
not new to punk, don't be so beligerant. I didn't mean it that way. What I
meant were "The Classic punk bands that got most people into punk rock, thus
defining the reasons why a lot of the people who read this newsletter are not
totally against major labels." Think about it, Did those of us who are punks
get into it because of bands like Slaughter and the Dogs, Eater, Cheetah
Chrome Motherfuckers, or the X-Ray Spex? No, most of us got into it through
the so-called legends of punk, who were all on major labels, The Ramones, Sex
Pistols, The Clash, Richard Hell and the Voidoids, New York Dolls, Generation
X. I could go on here forever. My point is, why are we still discussing major
labels? The Misfits have already signed with Geffen, right? Is it doing any
good for us to all sit here and discuss why they shouldn't sign with them?
Kinda like discussing whether we should build bomb shelters after the
button's already been pushed.

Yep, but some of those are shit. Really. Originality? Well, anyway the Germs is

in a long time! You, my friend, are way too fed up in your little "punk-rock" immage!!!
You are the exact reason why the joke about punk being a religion and having the
commandments was made! There is no real definition for punk, it's what you want it
to be. How bout we end this whole punk debate right there.
138 SIGHTING!!!!!! The episode of last sunday's Simpsons was 138, and Homer
said the word "misfit" during the show!!!!!! WOW!!!!!! I guess that makes Matt Groening a
real Misfits fan, huh? Okay, that was meant to be VERY sarcastic. Chill out with the 138
stuff. Besides, if you watched the Simpsons enough, you'd have picked up on all the STAR
WARS references. Alright kiddies, who created STAR WARS? That's right, George Lucas.
And what was his first film? If you said THX-1138, you were correct. READ THE
WWW PAGE, you'll find out that that's where they (the Misfits) got the idea for "We Are 138."
I think the "138" crap should stop there too.
More crap on my mind... For all of you rippin' on Glenn, please stop! If it
weren't for Glenn, we wouldn't have the Misfits, now would we? I give lot's of credit to Jerry
and Manny too(as well as Bobby, Doyle, Googy, etc), but the Misfits were Glenn's idea.
And he may be a real dick in person, but I couldn't judge, for I've never met the man, but
he did start the Misfits, Samhain, and Danzig. SO PLEASE, GIVE THE GUY SOME CREDIT!!!!!!
That's about all I have to say for now. Later Mike

P.S. I thought all "REAL" punks did was sit around, bitch and complain about everything,
and spend all their money on cigarettes and cheep booze. If so many of you are "REAL" punks
and are so much against the system, why do you all subscribe to an on-line service? And for
that matter, even have computers? Just wondering.

It's been a long time since I last posted, so first I'd like
to make the general comment " Each and every one of you make me sick "

The new danzig is excellent. After danzig four it was obvious that it was
time for a change, I guess that Glenn was just tired of writing songs
that comprised of only " Whoooooaaaaaaa " and
                        " Whoooaaa-Whoooaaa-Whoooaaa "

And to the stupid brat that Thinks Glenns real last name is Whitman or whatever,
I can tell you that I am positive That it is really:

               Glenn Anzalone.
Get it through you thick skull!!!

please email me.
Wes thomas I suggest that we have the bible party at my place, I live in Chicago
near the Riviera if any of you know where that is. We could have a huge
keg party and I could get my friends band to play old fits tunes for us!
I say we do it.. Email me. Everyone will be invited if we cAN GET THIS TO

she should be banned and sterillized.

"The real problem here is not that Glenn is "selling out" because he's
changing the style of his music. Change is good. The problem is that
he's
doing something that a lot of other bands have done before, enough so
that
as far as I'm concerned all the things he's trying here have pretty much
outlived their interest."
-
as for this quote glenn isn't selling out he is just continuing his
trend, he changes his style on a regular basis, just look at the
difference between the Misfits, Samhain, and Danzig they all are
completely different bands but the same frontman.

Subject: Guitar School, December 96

Sorry to make two long posts in the same issue, but I just bought the new
issue of Guitar School, and there are two articles you may wanna read:

Page 9, "Through Changes"

It would seem that Glenn Danzig's world has crumbled around him. For
starters, the lineup that's been the backbone of his band for so many
years-guitarist John Christ, drummer Chuck Biscuits and bassist Eerie Von-is
no longer affiliated with the stocky singer. Secondly, after four largely
successful albums on American Recordings, Danzig has left the label and
signed with Hollywood; his first release for which will be Blackacidevil, due
on Halloween. Drastic changes for sure; but ones that Danzig views as purely
positive.
"I think the directions of the people just grew apart," says the former
Misfit of his ex-bandmates. "I just wanted to go a little more experimental
with the band and John particularly like Seventies guitar styles. I like it
loud, I like it crazy and I like it rough. If someone doesn't pick up their
guitar and smash it and break it apart and make it scream and do shit, I'm
not into it."
Christ's replacement is Prong ringleader Tommy Victor. Though the future of
Prong remains uncertain (the band was recently dropped from Epic Records),
Victor plans to continue touring with Danzig in support of Blackacidevil.
Also joining the Danzig fold are drummer Joey Castillo, formerly of
Sugartooth, and ex-Danzig roadie/punk veteran Lazie on bass. Alice in Chains'
Jerry Cantrell contributes lead guitar on three Blackacidevil cuts, including
the ballad, "Come to Silver," a track originally written for Johnny Cash.
"Jerry's an awesome guitar player," says Danzig.
Currently, Danzig is on tour with Ozzy Osbourne, a support slot he's
particularly excited about. After all, the first show he ever saw was Black
Sabbath. "There are very few people that would ever take Danzig out on the
road," he says. "They're all too scared." - Scott Warmuth

OK, it's me, Ken, again. Now maybe it's just me, but with him saying "Fuck
Rick Rubin." and slagging John Christ in this article, maybe I'm right about
Glenn. After all, he just gave the same reason for wanting a new guitarist
that he gave when Bobby Steele was booted in '81. Actually Glenn's EXACT
words then were, "He tries to play like Hendrix. I fuckin' hate Jimi
Hendrix!" So, now John Christ can join the "I got fucked-over by Glenn
Danzig" crowd.

Next up, we have an article on the 30 All-Time Greatest Punk Rock Records.
Still can't believe a corporate mag such as this would even mention CRASS,
much less make "Christ-The Album" one of their top picks.

Page 37, "Too Tough To Die"

MISFITS-Misfits Walk Among Us (Plan 9, 1980)
Fronted by Glenn Danzig, the Misfits always looked like a zombie football
team-ready to crack someone's skull and eat their brains at the sound of a
whistle. Misfits Walk Among Us, their first album, was a compilation of many
of their early seven-inches, and the music and vocals influenced such major
acts as Metallica, Slayer and every other metal/punk band out
there.Lyrically, they were into old movies and scary monsters. They have now
returned to the punk arena (sans Danzig), proving you just can't kill a
zombie. - GT

See, even Guitar School says they're a punk band. : ) Anok!

Warning: not explicitly Misfits-related material!

Let's talk about moshing. We all know what types of shows provoke kids to
flail into each other. Generally speaking, we know where the "pit" is going
to be located, usually close to the stage. For people who don't like being
pounded by teenage flesh and bones, this area is usually not the best place
to watch a show. At the Butthole Surfers show tonight, a man, roughly 26,
was standing in the area where the kids, roughly 16, were trying to mosh.
Each time a kid bumped into him, he punched them, grabbed them, and tried to
pick a fight. I believe he may have spit in one kid's face. He was
eventually escorted out, kicking and screaming.
I've seen several post on here bitching about the pits and how you can't
enjoy the show 'cause of all the kids running into each other. Point is,
the music sounds just as good in the back of the crowd, away from all the
brouhaha in the front. If you don't like pits, like myself, please don't
provoke anger out of the kids that are already willingly beating the hell
out of themselves--just move.
Oh, and if you're in the pit and see someone go down, please don't trample
them. It hurts.
thanks

ok i've had blackacidevil 2 days now so i guess it's
review time. yep, some people will hate it as i've
seen a couple negative reviews already but after listening
to it over & over i can say i really like it now although it did
take a few listens to get used to it. i must say this is one gutsy
move on glenn's part to make such a drastic change but i guess
he doesn't give a crap. oh ya....is this the booklet cover that's been
such a secret that he couldn't give any clues as to what it looked
like, what a joke....not too much thought put into this one but i really
could give a rat's ass bout the packaging. anywayz a run through
the songs:

7th house: can't get enuf of the opening beat & the deep voice
talking part. "girl i'm gonna make you come"?
gettin a little racey for a disney record aren't we,
depending on how you take that.

blackacidevil: the most different sounding & untraditional danzig
song i think i've heard. sounds more like trent reznor
on vocals but i really like this one.

See all you were: this would be a great song if only the vocals
weren't so damn buried & if that squeaky noise
weren't so loud (reminds me of fingernails across
a blackboard) but it's still a good song & probably
one of my favs on here anyway. .

Sacrifice: what can i say, as someone else said i can't get enough
of this song, this has become one of my all time fav danzig
songs but i'll probably get burnt out on it soon enough though.

Hint of her blood: nice spacey noises on this one & whatcha'
	              know....no distorted vocals.

Serpentia: lovely moans i gotta say although it is a bit overdone but
it's still one of my favorites.

Come to silver: another one of my favorites on here (how many favs
on one record am i allowed?), i don't really even mind
the distorted vocals on this one too much. nice
	          guitar work.....sounds so un-john christ.

Power of darkness: i like the music....the vocal melody if you can even
call it a melody reminds me of "bringer of death"......
probably the least accessible song on the
album but i've grown to like this track alot anyway.

Ashes: great. my 2nd favorite song on the album. yep, glenn can sing
& if you don't agree let's see you do any better jack.

that's bout it.......laterz.

Howdy all,
This is the best I could figure out the lyrics to Glenn's screwed up
version of Sabbath's "Hand of Doom". Either I need a hearing aid or
Glenn really is a sick fucker. Well, here 'tis:

stick the knife right in
blood is running red
cut the stomach right
i start to crawl inside

pull the skin apart
now it's getting hard
start to slip right in
blood is getting thick

  see the world surround
  watch (wash?) the bloody ground
i put her in the ground
i'm coming round and round (?)

put my finger in
it's just a little thing (?)
when i take it out
it's in her bloody mouth

  make my dying ride
  i part the bloody hide
  put my dick right in
  her come is getting thin

Pretty sick, huh? Send me some feedback or whatever you think it is,
cause if I'm way off base here, I think I'd better go see a doctor or
something.

Also, everyone has been so busy bitching about how Glenn's music has
changed, did anyone else notice that he still writes "with" as "w/" in
the lyrics?

I also found that if you play the song "blackacidevil" backwards it
still sounds like shit.

This is actully my first time on the bible, but I felt the show last
night(Oct.30, mischif night) was well worth mentioning. They began at
around 11:30 and went on untill about 1:30a.m. They played great as
usual. The only problem was, was that the club they played at lied
about their capacity in order to get the Misfits to play. They told
them they could hold about 250 people when in all actuality they could
most likely hold alitle over a hundred. This goes without saying that
it was a liiitttllle crouded. Still was a great show. Only got to see
Jerry afterwards cause everybody else ran off. I'm sure they had
something to do. Anyways, it rocked.

P.S. Whoever keeps giving these great Danzig 5 reviews needs to relisten
to the album. It's not bad for industrial, but it's not Danzig. Loose
the distortions on the voice and you're on step one to getting back to
the real Danzig.

Subject: memory lane

What's up fiends, I haven't posted for a week or so, but last night I
went to the Misfits show at Memory Lane in Baltimore. It rocked aside from
the fact that the stage was so damn small, and the fact that H2O opened up
for the Misfits. I don't know much about H2O, but they had a huge skinhead
crowd there, and that really sucked considering H2O had too stop in the
middle of songs twice to break up unite/skinhead fights, and ultimately ended
their set early (I sure wasn't upset about that). If anyone was at the 9:30
show in may, the misfits showed movie trailers before they went on stage,
they did the same thing this time, only it was on a huge 7ft. tv screen, to
the tune of halloween II. The misfits played all the usual stuff, including
Bloodfeast, they played the Hunger, Blacklight, and a brand new song called
"American Psycho", which was awesome. Despite our numerous screams from up
front of the stage they didn't play the Haunting, or Mars Attacks. Jerry told
us after the show that they didn't play them because of something about
Michale's air intake during the Haunting, whatever that means. They also
played "The Monster Mash" by Boris Pickett, which I thought made the show
perfect. After the show I managed to go to my car and get my camera and got
a few shots of my friends and I with Jerry. As we were finally leaving, I
saw Michale as I peered in the window of their "Winnebago" bus, so I figured
I'd get my coat and go back to the winnebago to try to talk to or get some
pictures with the rest of the band, when were were approached by some guys
with baseball bats asking us if we were unite's or not. We said no and left
rather quickly without talking to Mike. Supposedly they were trying to
settle a fight that had started in the pits of H2O. I also got the 1st
issue of "SQUIRT", by Doug Evil, to any Misfits Fiend who doesn't have this
issue BUY IT!!! It's really cool and has alot of info on the cartoon, the
comics, and alot of other stuff. I can't wait to hear a new album by these
guys, their new stuff sounds so good live, well all things in good time.
Until later, Sorry this post is so long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

be signing stuff at the Greenfield Best Buy from 8-9 on Friday Nov. 1.
I'll be meeting him for the first time. I just heard Danzig5. And it
totally rocks. This is the most original piece of music I have heard in
a long time. I can't wait to hear it again. I love every song from the
first listen. Yes it's different. Trent Reznor is a piss poor
comparison. Glenn is the best. Hope he's cool. Maybe Glenn won't sign
the Box 'cause Jerry and Doyle are making royalties off of it? Uncle

Halloween treat, at 4pm today I get to enjoy... A ROOT CANAL! Actually, sounds
more like a Trick than a Treat...

Adios,

P.S. I already got the scare of my life when I bought the new Danzig album!
Oh, man... the horror... the horror...

Steve, did you mean that "He Who Cannot Be Named" has nothing to do with
the Misfits? Surely not. (It's a Samhain song!!) As for the guy from
the Dwarves (guitar, right?) he supposedly died a few years ago, but from
what I heard, he resurfaced and had faked his death (well, not like he
was gonna rise from the grave). If that was true, I'm not too sure, but
I did hear that he was actually still alive, but where, what, how, and
why is beyond me.

The Halloween show was fucking awesome. They started off by showing clips
from a bunch of horror and sci-fi films. It was just awesome. There were
too many white power assholes there, just like the last time the Misfits
played at the troc, but it was still a great show. There's always so much
energy when the Misfits play that its always a good time. The only thing
that disappointed me was that the vocals were really hard to hear over
everything else. I was really happy to see so many other sXe brothers
there. It made up for all the racist asswipes.

The new material sounded really good also.

Subject: Danzig at Aaron's Records

Wednesday night I went to (what I thought would be) a CD-promo
signing by Danzig, at Aaron's records in Hollywood. In actuality, he ended
up putting on a free concert right in the record store parking lot! The
crowd was really small, too, and even the people in the back weren't very
far from the stage. He played a few of the cuts from Blackacidevil, and what
(at least) one MB subscriber suggested was true: the stuff does sound a lot
better live than on the CD. "Sacrifice" was particularly good live...

So I didn't get my Satanika's signed, but a free surprise concert
is better than a signing any day.

Subject: One more time around...

Hello to all the fiends and Horror Kids...

this is it, last set of questions, but before we get to that i need to take
care of a couple things.

First off top three at this point are, Franz with 117 points, Uncle Kirt
with 108 points, and Jess with 80 points. Not bad guys, i know some of the
questions can blow your mind but what is the point if they were easy.

Next some questions i see about where i get my stuff, ie references. Well
i have an exensive collection of books on Horror movies, i started buying
or really my mother started buying me Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine
since 1977, i collected several of the older issues and still buy the
magazine to this day, I have several other horror magazines from the
1950's, 1960's etc, i have hundreds of filled video tapes with the movies
we have been talking about, plus as i have said before i have 24 years of
watching these films over and over again to know them in and out. They
make doing non computer artwork seem much more easy to deal with. So i can
honestly say i do know what the hell i'm talking about.

As for the Zanti or Zantis(plural) Misfits, well just on the off chance
that several of my books and magazines were wrong i checked around the net.
It seems that MGM is rereleasing the original Outer Limits series on tape
again, and on their webpage they have it spelled Zanti Misfits. I really
doubt that they would make that big of a mistake on they webpage since they
are trying to sell the tapes. As for any other problems with what i'm
doing or saying, in the simplest of terms i really don't give a shit if you
have some stupid problem with me. Basically its become a waste of time for
everyone to have to read through bullshit that just does not apply to them.
Though i guess everyone one need to find a way to get a big ego boost even
if it mean trashing someone for no apparent reason.

Now on to the questions:

1) What is the name of Dr. Phibes wife in the two movies?

2) Name the Korean equal in monsters to Godzilla?

3) What Movie had the first female Vampire and what year did it come out?

4) In history what was a Talos, in movies what movie did this first appear
in?(2 extra points if you can name what Talos was made of and who and where
was it given as a gift to)

5) Name the one Misfits song that starts its lyrics off with a Brain
Invasion, then name four of the Brain Invading type movies, you have a lot
to choose from to boot?
(2 extra points for the name of the brain invading movie that refers to all
of us(you know what we are or at least what we are called as Misfits fans -
Hint Hint)

Its been a killer game thus far and you know the deal, answers in by Sunday
10pm (tes777@bridge.net ). Winners and prizes will be announced monday.
Good luck to all.

Oh some cool Halloween news you know about the petition for the Universal
Monster Stamps that the Misfits put into our Fiend Club packs, it seemed to
pay off. Next Halloween the post office will release i think 5 or 6
different stamps. The design work is already done and they look really
good.

that is it for now, have a great weekend to all.
Later to all the fiendies!?!

NINOSKY" Date: Fri, 1 Nov 1996 10:36:17 PST Subject: gettin' it on wif mom Smarsh was partly right. The absence of Christ, Von, and Biscuits has depleted Glenn's music of the musicianship needed to turn his good ideas into great songs. Glenn supplied the power lyrics and voice which are inimitable, but the music was the rest of those guys. Joey Castillo and Josh Lazie Smurf are merely lackeys. They are not Danzig. This is such a fucking sad situation we got here. blackacidevil sucked. We all know it, and we all try to make excuses or keep playing the damn thing as background music in an effort to force it into our heads like a bubble gum top 40 song. The first three albums were excellent themic works. 4p had some great songs, but it was more like "Danzig sings some Danzig songs" rather than an album sort of experience. When I say "album sort of experience", I am refering to works such as Final Descent, Hendrix's Axis: Bold as Love, November Coming Fire. These albums assembled the songs to provide an overall shift in feelings and mood as the album progressed rather than putting a bunch of "hit singles" together with some filler songs. I am just really disappointed that Glenn has moved away from something he was, in my opinion, the greatest at. He could have made a power industrial album, and I would have dug it. Instead, he made a piece of shit that sounds like what others have already done anyway. He could have done better. I just feel like he didn't try at all. Oh yeah, and Joey Castillo would like to thank all his homies. ------------------------------ From: Shane Othor Hall Subject: Misfits On Halloween!! I was to meet Glenn on Friday at an instore. The warning clearly stated--NO MISFITS NO SAMHAIN ITEMS WILL BE SIGNED. I thought this was odd. So, I brought all 3 Samhain vinyls and my Collection I vinyl signed by everyone else. Only Glenn and Tommy were there. I had 14 things with me for signing. Finally I get to the table, I plop my stuff down with my left hand. The security guard outside told me Glenn was not to see the Samhain/Misfits stuff and that I shouldn't let it touch the table. So, I'm standing there, and I decided to ask Glenn is he'd sign Samhain stuff. He gave me a look like I was nuts and replied that he would. So, I place the 3 Sam stuff down with the Collection underneath it, I pull out the Collection trying to make sure Glenn didn't see it, Glenn did see it and get this----he went out of his way to say "hey man, I'll sign that!" Too cool. He signed all 14 things, but when he got to the Collection he looked at the other autographs, made a strange noise--kind of like BAH--flipped it over and signed the back. While all of this was going on, Tommy is sitting there looking through my stuff like it was the coolest stuff on earth. He acted as if he'd never seen Thrall before and seemed impressed with my Unholy Passion. The security guard and him were joking that I was "getting the stuff signed that I was taking to the grave". Tommy was all smiles, handed me a few stickers, and nodded. I get the impression he thought I was nuts because I must've told Glenn I appreciated him signing the Misfits thing a million times. One thing I noticed about Tommy was that no one was talking to him and seemed more than willing to chat with anyone who came by. I can't say I talked to him, but I don't like Prong, so I had nothing to say, really. Over all, it was a great experience. Glenn said Prophecy 2 is done, and he filmed the scenes in between tour dates, and that I should write to the address on the back of the sticker (the same in the album) for fan club info. Something strange though. Glenn seemed to have a difficult time hearing people. I noticed he did this with a bunch of others, as well as with me---someone would say something, and he'd say "What?" and lean his left ear forward and up. I have a frail and weak voice, so I went out of my way to PROJECT, and he still seemed to have a hard time hearing me. He wasn't a dick about it, or anything....very cool. I was very impressed with his politeness to the fans--although he didn't smile once (that was Tommy's job, I guess)--but still it was great. Anyone who thinks Glenn is a dick that does nothing for his fans needs to think twice. The Troc show on Halloween was incredible. They came out with Star Trek outfits on and opened with...you guessed it Halloween.(as if everyone didn't already know.) They played all the old favorites. Out of the new stuff they played The Hunger, Blacklight, The Haunting and a new one called American Psycho. It sounded pretty good and made me that much more anxious to hear the new album. Also after seeing the Misfits 4 times I finally got to see the movie clips with Halloween 2 in the background at the beginning of the show. Anyway just a great crowd, with stage diving from the opening song all the way to the end, and a tight show. I would say the best sounding I have heard so far. I hope you were all there. ...Marino ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 03 Nov 1996 00:41:42 -0500 (EST) From: Stephen Gorny Subject: Baltimore: October 30 Well - the Misfits came to Memory Lane (more of a bar than a club) in Baltimore the other night. It was a great show, better than their Hammerjacks show a few months back. Right before the band came on, they showed clips of Bride of Frankenstein while an extended mix of Halloween II played over the PA. Then the band hit the stage - Michale had his face painted up in a black and white skull design (which lasted all of 20 minutes before he wiped it off). Alot of the old Misfits classics and a new tune (which, according to Jerry, was the first time they ever played it live) called American Psycho. They also played that kooky old song "Monster Mash" at one point when they stopped to fix a kick pedal on the drum kit. Definately the best of the Resurrection shows I've been to. However - the night was kind of spoiled by the people who run Memory Lane. First off - this is a tiny place with a capacity of 120 people (that's what the sign on the wall says). There were at least twice that many people there. I mean - it was cool to be that up close and personal, the stage is tiny and only about 3 feet high so lots of people were just climbing up and diving back out, but it was just way too many people there for a club that size. Second - no security whatsoever. Yeah - sometimes they can be goons, but most of the guys who work security in the Baltimore clubs are pretty cool. And you don't usually need em here cuz they generally get 100 people or less when most bands come in - but a few could have been cool simply cuz of all the fights breaking out during the opening acts (especially H20) - luckily, enough people there had a head on their shoulders to try and calm the people down Finally (my biggest beef) - I don't know how it is where a lot of you guys live, but around here, most clubs that get shows where they know there will be a pit don't let people in with big spikes on their jackets or armbands, Memory Lane didn't give a shit and let anyone in with anything. Now, maybe its just me getting old, but that just was really ignorant. I like being in the pits at shows, and I'll be the first one to say, if you don't want to get roughed up a bit or get slammed around - DON'T STAND DOWN FRONT. But by the third song I had gotten walloped in the head by some asshole with an arms length bracer full of spikes (my head stopped bleeeding after about 15 minutes). And when I backed up you could see spiked armbands all over the place. I also several other people who looked like they got puncture wounds at some point. I just thought the club should have made those people take that shit off - especially with that kind of a crowd there (double capacity). ANyways - enough rambling - it was a killer show aside from the head wounds. ============================================================================ Stephen Gorny : Does your school or place of employment mandate Department of Psychology : the use of 'Politically Correct' speech and UMBC : threaten to punish those who do not comply? 5401 Wilkens Avenue : If so, then they are violating your First Baltimore, MD 21228-5398 : Amendment rights to freedom of speech. None of them knew any songs other than Mother. My friend in the back goes "This is Danzig? No way". At the end of the song the DJ goes "No that wasn't the new Nine Inch Nails, that was actually new Danzig." I think that really sums it up. I think if the exact album was put out by White zombie or NIN, people who like that music (like myself) would think it was a great album. I think though that most of us expect something different, maybe at a higher level than what Glenn produced. Especially when the beauty of Glenn's music has always centered around his voice, and he goes and burries it. I do like Blackacidevel, but regardless of what type of music it is, Glenn shouldn't ignore and hide his talent like he does. At least he doesn't distort his voice on all songs. one other thing, did Earth AD CD come out last week? The music stores here didn't have it that I went to, which is strange if it did come out. Just wondering if anyone saw it. thanks kyle ps my friends didn't especially like Sacrifice, so I wonder now if it will get that much airplay or not. we'll wait and see. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 3 Nov 1996 18:59:15 PST Subject: I'm back..miss me? Yes I made the trip to Philly to see the fits on Halloween, and yes I saw them. But perhaps that is a misleading statement. I missed the show, but I actually "saw" the fits... I arrived at 11:30 and the gig was over. I met my usual partners in crime, Jaid and Bricks 9the nicest person I know), and two new arrivals Chris and Dave (hey wow real names...) and we hung out while everyone was loading up. They told me what a great show I missed and Jerry later told me about it and showed me his snazzy star trek uniform. BTW it was red. I hope they meant to be the Next Generation series cause i might be wrong, but wasn't it the rule that the guys in red in the original episodes were always the first to get zapped? I guess there was a guy with a T-shirt of Rocky on it...I guess it was a rough crowd...I guess Jimmy (Sticky) the Tank is alive in someone's memory...and I'm also aware of what a lemming is once and for all. I am one. I was peer pressured into going to the Poughkipsee (forgive my spelling??) NY show the next day. OK OK so I was broken for the sake of the unit allright? But I just couldn't not go...... Other interesting sights in Chinatown Philly: the bullet hole in our suite window...damn if i could find where the bullet went... On to NY....we got there and the Chance is in a *war zone*, but the place itself was really cool. The balcony was open too. We got there and found out that there were 4 opening bands: Sardonica (great set), H2O (lotsa basketball jerseys, but pretty OK), and Brown Tongue (two singers: one black suit, played harmonica and too cool to move...the other very rollins-esque), and someone else. Jaid, Bricks and I decided that for one show we were gonna stay up in the balcony and watch the whole picture..ummm Jaid I lasted 3 songs. I'm weak. Weak I tell ya! The crowd was tame, we got to the front easier than I expected. they played a lot of new material, and it sounded great! American Psycho included there. At one point we are screaming NIKE NIKE and Michale (donning the skull make-up) looks directly at us and turns to Jerry and says NIKE..to which Jerry said: American Nightmare 1234! They did play it right before the end of the set though :) Oh and Glenn has been replaced as "God's Littlest Misfit" (don't get pissy the god reference is sarcasm) by this kid who had the skeleton gloves, the devilock, and the total image down, who got up on stage and sung Attitude. He was great! We all cheered for him, he was probably around 10?? Also met some cool people, they know who they are, and freaked Jerry out with a skull pez dispenser. Special thanks to Rocky from the one he calls "normal girl".... And we are still wondering what that thing on Chud's jacket was in a former life... More peer pressure was applied to go to the following night's show in NJ, but a 20 page paper kept me from going. Although it was a gracious offer by certain people to divide and write a few pages to help out :) (Ummm it's still not done...) I am forgetting much, but it was a great evening as usual and I always have fun at the shows. I was psyched, no pat down at the door means DAT deck got inside and I did record the gig. Unfortunatly, the MIC I am using is not that great (i am looking for better stealth mics) so the recording is typical of a misfits boot. I am offering it to Chris (christoter@aol.com) only as it seems that he does a good job distributing all that stuff so please do not email me for trades. If Chris doesnt want it, then I will trade with others. The misfits kicked ass and it was louder than fuck (prob why the recording was bad). They went through the usual slew of tunes and they did Angelfuck which was cool. New tunes were Blacklight, The Hunger, The Haunting, American Psycho, Walk Among Us, and I think maybe one other one I am forgetting. The Haunting is an excellent tune, the others, well, I'll see what they will sound like in the studio cause I havent been all that impressed but then again, @ those volumes, its tough to judge a new song. The white power contingent was there, of course, and most of it was ejected for fighting during the Sardonica set. At least the bouncers at this place had balls not like the allentown gig where all they did was break up fights and let everyone stay. Overall, a good solid show. They played the horror video clip intro which was cool, but got boring after hearing the same verses of Halloween II played in the background for 10 minutes. Complaints I have heard in the past of Doyles guitar playing are no longer relevant. He did stink back in the early 80s, but he was young and inexperienced. He now kicks ass, he hit all the solos to the tunes right on, and overall, kicked ass on all the songs. We arrived at the Troc on Halloween nite just in time to catch the horror film collection that the 'Fits have been playing every now and then on their tours. For some reason, I chose this viewing to recognize that the soundtrak for the collection is an ultra-extended version of Halloween II. If you haven't seen this video collection, you wouldn't believe how long they play Halloween II. Anyway, the guys came out in Star Trek uniforms (Happy Halloween!) and played an amazing set, including one brand new song 'American Psyco'. It rocked! The part of the show that was coolest to me was when the band asked the audience what songs they should play next, they played 2 that I asked for. Micheal looked at me, I said 'Some Kinda Hate', he looked at the rest of the band, and they played it. Jerry looked at me, I said 'Nite of the Living Dead', he asked the rest of the band, and they played it. YES! One stranger aspect was that they did NOT close the show with 'Die, Die' like they usually do. Come to think of it, I don't remember what they closed with, anyone? The sound for the show was amazing. The vocals were crystal clear. This was especially evident on the newer songs. The Haunting was the best version I have ever heard. And my ears were not ringing in the slightest afterwards, even without my earplugs in. The saddest part of the show was that our friend Michelle missed the entire set. :( But after hanging out with the guys for a while, Rocky invited us to see the show the next nite in NY. So after getting a few hours sleep, we packed our stuff and headed up to New York. For that show, I did what I always said I wanted to do at a Misfits show. I just hung out in the balcony. I've seen the Misfits 8 times now. That was the first show I actually got to see Chud play. The sound for this show wasn't nearly as good as the nite before. The vocals were barely audible at times. They played 'American Psyco' again, and what I'm guessing was another new song, because I couldn't recognize it at all. That nite we stayed at the Econo Lodge. Our room #? Yup, you guessed it, 138. We were laughing our asses off. Oh yeah, the hotel was just down the street from the Hoe Bowl. Obviously they were not the same person, and obviously Eerie wasn't the Misfits drummer... however, a lot of people make the mistake of assuming Eerie was in the band because he was a close friend and their photographer. In fact, Eerie began playing drums after Doyle suggested it, and Eerie did audition to be drummer of the Misfits in May of 1982. He was accepted but turned down the offer a few days later to stay with his band at the time - Rosemary's Babies. I happen to like it, but I still understand why some people don't. As far as blackacidevil goes, I don't like it. Is it becasue it's industrial? NO! It's because it puts me to sleep! I've heard it all before! > Glenn can only write so many dark metal songs and then he would be >recycling old stuff and calling it new. IMO, that's exactly what he's done. The only interesting songs on the CD are 7th House, Blackacidevil, and Power of Darkness. Ashes and Come to Silver would be OK in a traditional Danzig sense if they didn't have that last minute, post-production noise on them. The rest is just... boring.
