What has Glenn done for Mark lately? The way I see it Jerry and Bobby are buttering Mark's bread. I really think he remains unbiased even with this influence though. I'd like to finish this up with something you should like Brett. Jerry Only - Ugly Things #12 - Summer 1993 "We got it all..." (referring to doyle & himself) "...If I was a big star I'd have to be on the road all the time, I wouldn't get to enjoy my family. So I gotta work a hard day - probably just as hard as driving from town to town and playing a three hour show - but at the same time I get to go home every night and sleep in my own bed, and watch my TV..." I guess he said this before he went on the road to pimp his band ALL SUMMER. ANd of course it must have also been said prior to that major label commitment. What's up with that anyway? What on earth was Danny Rey thinking. This man produced the Ramones' since Too tough to Die, inclusive, Not to mention producing the Waldo's (ex heartbreaker Walter Lure). Sounds like a career breaker to me. But then again they probably got some studio time and no advance money so what do they have to lose. just a thought...Jim Here's what Patricia has to say this week.... >Subject: TWENTY GUYS IN MY BED . . . >From: undead@juno.com (Bobby Steele) Gol Bobby! No wonder you've got a gimpy leg! ;P but you know, we'd both be dead if we were nearly the degenerates we pretend to be.... but I still fantasize about Wes Thomas imitating Blag Jesus H. Christ instead of Brad Pitt these days. as for Bobby's true and valid remark 'we knew the Glenn he wanted us to know' thats totally true. He had a different personality for every day of the week. Here's a funny (well, to me) story about his relationship with his family too-- Mommy Anzalone comes down to Danzigland in the basement and Glenn and I are drawing Kiss makeup (Gene Simmons, I recall) on a Cheryl Tiegs poster *hey, this was 1979 ya know* and she taps on the door "Glenn, do you and your friend want anything to eat?" I say no thanks and he YELLS at her 'Get the fuck out of here! We're TRYING to have FUN!' So I guess to call him disrespectful would be a little bit accurate. I also agree with AON-1's observation that ones ability to lie or fight has nothing to do with ones ability as a performer. but with all the recent Glenn bashing going on here, I'd like to throw this out to y'all-- since it seems to be chiefly a Jerry Only/Glenn Danzig war (who will win?)going on here, if you had the chance to meet and hang out with one or the other, whom would you prefer REALLY? I bet the Danzig camp wins like Clinton over Dole. I finally found that Germs tribute CD...some interesting interpretations of Germs stuff on there. And I'm about to make a multi-CD purchase of some Japanese hardcore (next paycheck)...I listened to one called Return of Grasshopper and it was OK, but it sounded a lot like early Prong. Sheesh, talk about hangups, I still can't get over Tommy Victor dumping Prong just to play guitar for a year or two and then get kicked to the curb when Danzig wants a new sound to accompany his worn out lyrics. But that's ok, Glenn writes all of his own music. Yeah, ladies and germs, tonight we're proud to present Glenn Danzig and his left-hand path orchestra of bleeding light!!! Gimme a break. I mean, he's right fukin there, he's almost making new stuff, I even think he is...then I realize he's still fallin back on that sorry old shit. By the way, I can't believe the people at Disney/ Hollywood let him talk to anybody who writes for a magazine. He says the most ridiculous stuff. One of these days it's going to catch up with him. With the fiends, most of it already has, since we've all been along for one part of the trip or another, in some fashion. After the success of "Bloodfeast" back in 63 or so, film folks came out of the woodwork to pester H.G. Lewis about making a sequel. "Blood Diner" DOES follow a similar theme, but it's not "Bloodfeast II" for official purposes. Though Lewis sold the rights to any gore related stuff years ago -- the sequel has STILL yet to be made. He's willing all right --- just waiting for the right studio to sign the check for the right amount --- oh, and the right script to boot! If you've got the cash -- the TRUE godfather of gore will rise from ... retirement to be at the helm of your film. To me, there's not sooo much H.G. influenced stuff in Misfits material. Other than the song "Bloodfeast, that is." His following "major" picture, "2000 Maniacs," is a far better piece of cinnie -- and worth a rental if you see it in your local capitalist video hole. "The Gruesome Twosome," "Moonshine Mountain," and his early t/a stuff is harder to come by -- but most vid stores should have "Bloodfeast," "2000 Maniacs" and "Color Me Blood Red" (a trilogy of sorts) -- almost by proxy. The TRUE film for any Misfits fan however, would be BLOODSUCKING FREAKS -- and would be mandatory viewing if I were king of the world. Also i will kick in some rare stuff i have so you might take the chance to search some of this stuff out. Bobby, which one was the cheese crack as for the flames? the one that still sticks in my mind was Mark being Jerry and Doyle's little sister. Ken - 1) Happy one day early Birthday dear. 2) if you think i remember who got what Unholy Passion 12" you got to be crazy, i had 4 extra copies other than the two in my personal collection. i think you got the last extra too, though i would have to look. 3) to all the tape traders he is asking, the bootlegs are in good condition since most of them he bought from me and a friend of mine. I did ask my friend to day about Glenn's drivers licence, and he does not remember what the name was being that he saw it 6 years ago. Plus he was probably more interested in ther birthday year since that was an on going argument we had, that and Glenn's hair but that's another story. Ok, i have heard a lot of different things in my time, i know people from all the different islands off florida, one of my closest friends in high school was british plus i have traded with lots of europeans, and even japanese. but for g-d sakes man what the hell is a CHOAD!!! Mr. Warren i hate to break this to you but by the time Jem and Holograms where on the air and the dolls where being sold the Misfits where no longer a band for 2 years. plus its kind of funny that the show when it first started the group the Misfits only had three members, just like the was Evilive depicts the band on the 12" . as for the 7"s(this is also answering someones question) the fiend club 7"(ie # evilive) uses a live picture of the band and you can see the drummer. the reg. evilive was printed with either a lineart of Glenn, Jerry, or Doyle. 99 of those where made into a special three pack and all three 7"s autographed. I only know one person who owns one (he's not about to sell it if he's anything like the way he was back in the early 90's - plus he loved to taunt Kris Mclauchlan with it.) Greg No don't say anything about the we are you know. maybe it will just slip by and no one will post about it.;) Ben- you do have a boot, the black vinyl boot i have and described has BLANK 101-A OR B (depending on the side) and some other writing scratched out, but not what you posted. i'm not sure if it was regroved and if that can be done. but remember there are at least two different black vinyl bootlegs. the other clear vinyl which i no longer have and Ken has. Bobby, you might know the answer to if a record can be regroved!!! AZ didn't you know its a MORAL IMPERATIVE that we start a fan club for Rocky and Bullwinkle, life wouldn't quite be the same. Let's do a little Misfits 101... Three hits From Hell. well i do know of one bootleg of this and it looks kind of like the 3 hits sleeve(red and black) but they use the PLAN6. Alot of boots use that like the Spook City USA boot, the Horror Business, and a couple others. as for the Original:Front cover - Upper left hand corner has the Misfits using an ultra condenced form of Helvetica(if you don't know fonts or typography its a very tight and narrow formed letter). on the left side there is a bar of red from top to bottom (about 2 1/2" width). at the very bottom left hand side is the title 3 hits from HeLL. the right side has a wider black space which has photos of the band members eyes, Glenn, then Jerry(dead give away with the black under the eyes) the other two i don't even want to take a guess to list to this lot bitch for a month. each set of eyes is in a white rectangle which is off balance. back side: Upper left hand side has, a london dungeon; b horror hotel part of the skull and under that is ghouls night out, under that THE MISFITS using the same logo design from the previous 7"s. under that band members listing, Glenn DanZig JerrY Only; DoyLe ArThur GooGy ( that is the actual typesetting they used, same with the word HeLL from the 7" title) all this is over black, and next to it is a close up of a CG's face. you see the one full eye and socket, where the nose was a small part of the other eye socket, part of the upper teeth and some lines. under all this is a gradient set on a path, if you look closely at it its black dots on red and red dots on black depending where you look. text, left hand corner bottom in a black box with out dots xtra(red text) gtr on 'london dungeon' bobby steele; smaller black box recorded at MSP, ny; last one PL1013 and across from it on the right hand side is PLAN9(white text black box). Vinyl: first press is a grey label with large hole, up top is THE MISFITS(same design as the back of the sleeve), left side PLAN9; 45 RPM; Extended Play; Stereo. right c(in circle)& p; Hell - bent; music; PL1013 - A or B. Bottome side A 1. LONDON DUNGEON; small print Unauthorized duplication prohibited. side A on the right uses a different and sign plus the print is black on the grey label. Side B everything is the same except song titles 1. HORROR HOTEL; 2.GHOULS NIGHT OUT(NO SPACE BETWEEN PERIOD AND G). also the right side is now a black box used to invert the text to grey. Yes the insert and which i did forget to tell everyone about the one for NOTLD. 3hits has a close up of a real CG full face with big smiling teeth. it uses the fame Monster of Filmland logo Misfits which is on the very top above the eyes, fiend club is under that then the address PO Box 3112, Grand Central (lot of space since the nose hole is in the way) N.Y.,N.Y. U.S.A.; Station(this is under Grand Central); 10163. there is a fill out for the fiends to put their info in on its side far left towards the bottom. White vinyl three hits is the same as far as look except if you are lucky to get one of the black and white sleeves. This is the one think some people do not agree with me on but it is what i was told by Glenn. He made only 100 of the B&W sleeves since he got sick of the red and black, plus there are 500 white vinyl 7"s, it uses a large center hole, and a red label instead of the grey. mine is not a pure white vinyl and has some black streaks in it. Glenn pointed out the value as $150 - 175. though he almost hit the floor when he asked how much i paid for mine. this was out of luck $30 and three SST 12"s (that was how we got into the argument about SoundGarden). Reg. 3 hits should be $35 - 100. don't pay more that's nuts Real quick in the NOTLD insert - B&W full CG like Horror B. backround is B&W checkerboard, uses old Misfits logo fiend club under that address is 145 W. 27th st. 2E, N.Y.,N.Y. 10001. that's it for now, WHo Killed Marilyn on Friday. tes777(tammy) ------------------------------------- To contribute to the next issue, please send email to: misfits@virginia.edu mailto:misfits@virginia.edu (Netscape Mail) For more information, contact Mark Kennedy at: msk4m@watt.seas.virginia.edu For answers to most questions, please visit Misfits Central before posting: http://watt.seas.virginia.edu/~msk4m/ The Misfits mailing address is: Misfits Fiend Club | P.O. It seems to me that every time somebody says something you don't like or is of a different opinion than yours you get pretty hostile. Now I know you has been around here for a long time and you knew the guys in the band back in "the day", but I dont understand why you get so greasy with a bunch of people you don't know for shit. I mean think about it for a sec, these are people in other parts of the world mouthing off to a computer screen and you take it so seriously. Settle down for a bit and instead of spewing the shit you spew contribute something we would like to hear, like stories about what it was like back then and stuff. Believe it or not some people do appreciate stuff like that. C'mon, do you talk like that around your child? You sit at your keyboard and make fun of people's grammer and call them cocksuckers and stuff and it is just juivenile. I know you will probably grease me for this but you calling me a fag and making fun of my grammer just doesn't cut it. I wont be offended or insulted so don't bother. And I know a lot of shit people say is exactly that, but just ignore them. If we igonre them they will just go away. Anyways, here are my top five tunes 1. Hybrid Moments 2. Last Caress 3. Children in Heat 4. The Haunting (may be higher when I hear a studio version) 5. Astro Zombies Also, does anyone know if there will be any legal trouble with releasing a song called "Mars Attacks" seeing how there is a big budget movie now and (in most likelyhood) an official soundtrack? Just curious. And if anyone was in attendace at the show in Germany where shocking return was recorded, could you tell me if that guy who said "fuck glenn danzig" and that other stuff was singing along on a lot of the tunes. Maybe it is my imagination, but it seemed to me that I could hear a german accent in the background for a lot of the songs. Also, about the Shocking Return CD, I find that Michales voice is better now. I have a recent vid and you can notice a difference. Anyways, I gotta run. I've heard otherwise from one of his video directors. guess that wasn't the guy who shot the video of him practicing Jeet Kune Do that appeared on "The Box" a couple years ago. Or the guy who took photos of him with Jerry Poteet, his trainer (who was Bruce Lee's student), that appeared in Ray Gun Magazine (? - actually I think it was Bikini magazine; I can't be bothered to check, though I remember it also had Jean Claude Van Damme in it) > From: Crimson Ghost > not frank said: > Blah Blah BLah - Glenn is god glenn is great pray to glen glenn never lies > etcetera etc etc j/k actually, CG, you misquoted me there...you see, I always spell Glenn's name correctly, and I use proper punctuation. But otherwise you got the gist of it. (...that is sarcasm) > come on Brett, Mark is only reporting what he is taking in. Don't accuse > I wish you could have been there in Mark's apartment when he and his > roommate played "dead kings rise" for me, you would have changed your > opinion. Look at it this way... What has Glenn done for Mark lately? The way > I see it Jerry and Bobby are buttering Mark's bread. I really think he exactly my point: I wasn't there in Mark's apartment when he played that, nor were most of the 900+ people on this list. And again, I say, exactly my point: Glenn hasn't done anything for Mark lately. That's why he gets slagged so much on here. Maybe he did cheat the Misfits. Maybe he does lie. But hearing from only one party over and over again kind of makes you wonder...I said something similar to this to Mark once, and he said that Glenn is defended on the Bible whenever I or EVB or whoever posts. Well, unfortunately I don't speak with Glenn on daily basis, like Jerry does with Mark (okay Mark, I'm not being literal when I say daily, but you should get the point). And from what EVB has said, Glenn doesn't seem to go out of his way explaining his past quarrels to her so that she can post his reply. The reason? Maybe it IS because everything Jerry etc says is true, and Glenn has no defence. But maybe it's because it all happened 15 friggin years ago and the guy has got other things to worry about than whether or not some little punks on the internet want to worship him or not. Notice that Glenn rarely talks about the Misfits in interviews. His only comment is usually something like "that's all in the past and it's no longer relevant" My whole point with Mark was this: don't insinuate things, just say them. Or, if you ARE going to insinuate (or outright state) these things, at least do it about the other members too. You just pointed out one instance in which Mark apparently had the chance to do so but didn't. (Judging by your comments, I take it that that song "Dead Kings Rise" sucked...?) Anyway, if you aren't going to do either of the above, the only alternative that I see is to no longer claim to be unbiased. I know Glenn is a human, with errors, flaws, foibles, whatever. But he is the ONLY guy in the Misfits, Samhain, and Danzig that doesn't have a say in what is going on here. (okay, so Chuck Biscuits and one or two others have never posted...but you get the point) > I'd like to finish this up with something you should like Brett. BTW I have nothing against Jerry...or any other Misfit. I met Jerry once and he was extremely nice. That's all I can say about him, so I'm not going to attempt to discern his role in events that happened when I was 5 years old. Whatever beef Bobby or anyone else has with him, Glenn, or anybody, is no longer my concern, nor should it ever have been. For some reason, I used to be interested in all that crap, but over the past several months I realized it's all a useless waste of time. (something that only one of the members involved has also realized - I'll leave it to you to guess who). Notice also that over that period of time I haven't posted nearly as much as I used to. (until now it seems) > From: markennedy > > and as for the 99.9%....I've used that statistic before, why should it > Well Bretto, perhaps it was because you seemed to be using it as a fact > in your argument. I don't care about opinions and don't respond to them, > unless they are presented as facts in which case I get suspicious. Mark, I couldn't use that as a fact even if I had intended to. Neither I nor anyone else could truly quantify something like creativity, unless one person did ABSOLUTELY everything. The 99.9% was used to show that he did the vast majority of the writing, artwork, etc. (can anyone deny *that* FACT? Bobby sure didn't -- and he was there) Anyways, I doubt that anyone read my message and said to themselves "gee, right there on the screen it says that Glenn did 99.9% of the stuff in the Misfits, whereas previously I had thought it was 74.3%...I guess my *facts* were mistaken!" Mark, you know I wasn't trying to attack you or anything, but even you must admit that you tend to imply things about Glenn while remaining completey silent about Jerry. (okay, I guess you won't admit that...) That's all right. I never intended to have a federal case out that comment, it was only a friendly little complaint...Let's say that I was trying to point out an...*oversight* Regardless, I think I have wasted enough time trying to clear up my intentions. Face up to it Bobby you just cant stop living in the past, I mean when my friend went to go get you to do an interview for his zine you were a total asshole and all you talked about was the Misfits and how you got dissed, and how you never get the proper respect you think you deserve, well Bobby , you need to earn respect before you get respect and you have not done a damn thing that deserves respect. Granted you WERE a misfit, but you were too lame to be in the band that is why you got kicked out, I mean correct me if I am wrong but i have never heard Mr. Jim or Franche Coma or Joey Steele, Googy or Robo ever diss their former bandmates nearly as much, or if ever, like you do, now you or many might say Jerry, Doyle, and or Glenn complain too much, but you know what Bobby, they can because they are the coolest parts of the Misfits history past or present, so i bet you will go on a little tirade about I am lying just like you did to that Blag guy, but I have talked to others who said you were a complete prick in person just like you were when we met you in Green Bay, so stop living in the past and stop whining about your Misfit past. And dont give us any of that bullshit about how Jerry and Doyle live in their past, because they are still the Misfits and will always be Misfits, unlike you, so they can talk about what ever they want about THEIR band called the MISFITS, you belong to Times Square, so anyways, I had to get this off my chest, hello to all that agree with me, those that don't well, that is your problem and go listen to your Undead and green day albums. This is Thomas Envall, Sweden, posting. I think it was more than a year since I posted last time, but unlike many of you others, I haven't had anything relevant to post about until now. 2 days ago I bought the Swedish Misfits tribute CD that one of my fellow-countrymen posted about some issues ago. Today is the last day at work for this year and, as I have a lousy memory, I have of course forgotten to bring the album with me here, so that means I'll try to review it from my memory: (the lousy memory) ;) The album is called "Hail to the Misfits" (I think) and it's released on Tribute Records from Gothenburg, Sweden. It's about 17 or 18 bands on it and they perform 25 or 30 songs, or something like that. The styles performed vary from exact copycats to poppunk to death metal, and it all ends with an orchestral version of Halloween, probably performed on a syntheziser. The track I enjoyed most were She performed by the Demons, really great! Over all it is obvious that all the songs are recorded with a whole lot of love for the Misfits. Also the sleeve and insert to the CD is an obvious labor of love. Inside the insert it's details with photos about all the participating bands. And on the front there is the CG and 2 coffins with John F Kennedy and a woman. I don't recognise the woman, but it's probably either Marilyn or Jackie Kennedy (she held on to John's brain, Nov 22nd 1963, Destroy all monsters, if you know what I mean). Sorry if my description of the album seem confused, but I can recommend the album, it's great, and it will be interresting to compare it to the tribute album that Caroline is gonna put out. I saw in a paper that the Misfits are booked to play at Gino in Stockholm on April 27th, it's only 4 months away! I'm gonna be there, you bet! By the way, I gotta ask Denmom: which half of you is Swedish, upper or lower? ;p OK over and out, have a merry Misfitsmas, cheers/ Thomas Envall. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Dec 1996 00:42:51 -0500 From: tes777@bridge.net (Tammy S.) First off the post that the word ASSWIPE was in was Mondays bible which was written at 1am after spending the entire day on my last art project, im surprised that i spelled anything right in that post let alone to get punctuation or grammer going smoothly. the Sentence is (shit i feel like i'm teach, not cool) Get it through your thick skull, ASSWIPE, Bobby is here to stay. now even with out the commas that does not sound as if i was calling Bobby an ASSWIPE. Plus why the hell would i do that? i get along with him, we never argue and if there was a disagreement between us it would not be aired on the bible. the ASSWIPE is, wait, hey Bobby you said something about a fly. Toss me that fly swatter i think its about to land on the bible!!! SMACK, BLOOD AND GUTS EVERYWHERE!!! HE HE HE HE ;) Now what was i talking about before. Jon was asking about a boot Cough/Cool Vinyl Visions usually has one listed in their ad for $10 but this issue they don't just give them a call maybe they can get you one 360-427-1837 M-F 4-10pm pacific time. Misfits 101 - Who Killed Marilyn, its personal this time... Well as i said it is personal this time, a bootleg was sold to me in an auction from Dr. Strange Records back in 1990. It looks so much like the real think and if it was not for Glenn i would still not know to this day. There are two boots that i know of this one and another that has a blue xeroxed sleeve. this one which i think is Japanese being that back in the late 80's and early 90's i had heard of bootlegs that where made to look almost identical to the real thing(7"s only that i know of). The front sleeve on the boot has the same picture (line art) of Marilyn with the color purple on the eye lids and lips, though to compare it to an original the boot is a couple shades lighter. the sleeve is about a 1/4" smaller than the original too. The white on the boot is also much brighter than the original on both the black vinyl and the purple vinyl sleeves. also on the top right side where her hair curves there is a little smudge of white in teh black boarder, this is only on the original sleeves. the boot has one but is at the edge of the sleeve and not next to the hair like the original. where it says who killed Marilyn on the left top corner the rips in the logo are the same. where it says glenn danzig on the bottom right with an inch of black before the edge, it looks the same on both. Back side, top left corner with 1" space before the edge, glenn danzig. Under that is one of the eyes in a white box, next to it is B; SIDE. across from that is the other eye in a white box. under that in big text SPOOK CITY U.S A(usa is smaller than spook city). under that and to the left a little are the lips also in a white box. then across the bottom is PLAN9 black text in white box, then address for fiend club P.O.Box 3112 Grand Central Station N.Y.,N.Y. 10163, then PL1015 black text white box. Again the only difference is color on the eye lids and the lips. the boot being a couple shades lighter. The label on the vinyl for the boot is not a true black, it looks a little softer, where as the original is a solid dence black. other wise the lay out look exactly the same. Side A has a picture(lineart) of Marilyn the small center hole is over her nose, and on the bottom a 1/2" under her chin is PL1015-A. Side B: top - glenn danzig; left side - PLAN9 black text, white box, 45 RPM, Stereo(white text on both); right hand side - c(in circle) &p, static age, music, PL1015-B(also white text); bottom - WHO KILLED MARILYN (other side), SPOOK CITY U.S.A. (this side) the parenthesis before the word this is in line with the N from Marilyn. all white text. on the vinyl etched into the grooves on the boot is, side A - PL - 1015A, about 1/2" the number 1. side B is the same, but with a B. the original has, PL-1015 A(note that there are no spaces used between the PL the dash mark and the 1015, also there is a space between the 1015 and the A on the original!!!). also no number 1, but there is etched very small, F/W DM(side A). side B, PL1015 B (note that there is no dash used between the PL 1015, this is the same on the purple vinyl 7"), 2" away Fw and what could be a part circle with a check mark or a messed up G, after that is (1 1/2" away) is dm in what could be called cursive. The purple vinyl is a translucent not opaque, some areas are almost clear and some have swirls of pink or very light purple. the etchings in the grooves are exactly the same as the black vinyl original. After the situation with Dr. Strange (which did end in threatning his business in everyway possible) i did get my money back but he never got the 7" back. I would not hear of it, i felt that this should never happen again at least by him. Though some people do not agree with that but that is to bad. Let see how you feel when Glenn tells you the first 7" original you ever got is a bootleg. i don't think it would have looked real to try and hide under a seat on his bus. This was after i handed him my Cough/Cool to sign and probably what saved me from one hell of an arguement. Also there is something he taught me that night and it makes sense, squeeze the top and bottom of the sleeve opening and if it really opens wide you have an original, if its tight you got a boot. i did try this on other 7" and it does work, though you can't do it on a Cough/Cool, Bullet, Horror Business or Night of the Living Dead. they are all soft paper sleeve except first press gatefold Bullet. I hope this helps and really look at what you are buying, if you can use a magnifine glass or a loop(all you photography majors should have one, if not $5 at any photolab for an 8X). I hope everyone is having a great break from school and Holidays and see ya's on Monday. Later to all the fiendies and one dead fly!?! tes777(tammy) Bobby it had a white mark on its back i think;) ------------------------------------- To contribute to the next issue, please send email to: misfits@virginia.edu mailto:misfits@virginia.edu (Netscape Mail) For more information, contact Mark Kennedy at: msk4m@watt.seas.virginia.edu For answers to most questions, please visit Misfits Central before posting: http://watt.seas.virginia.edu/~msk4m/ The Misfits mailing address is: Misfits Fiend Club | P.O. It >seems to me that every time somebody says something you don't like >or is of a different opinion than yours you get pretty hostile... You got some fucking balls you mudda fucka. [end Joe Pesce imitation] What the fuck did I do to deserve this? I haven't flamed or overreacted to anything in a weeks. Some kid flames my girlfriend (Patricia) and I reacted to it, I didn't over react, he was out of line. He has since apologized to her. Then last week I was busting on Brett Fama for questioning Mark's integrity. Brett knows I was disagreeing in a jestful manor, he did the same in his rebuttal to me. So lemme ask you, what is *your* problem? Get over it, go out and get laid or something but don't take your petty frustrations out on me. >...Settle down for a bit and instead of spewing the shit you spew >contribute something we would like to hear, like stories about what >it was like back then and stuff. Believe it or not some people do >appreciate stuff like that... This is *really* fucking funny. Patricia sits and types up stories about the Misfits "back in the day", then all you kids complain about it. You people appreciate nothing. You want to hear stories that jive with your fantasies about what the Misfits were. Well guess what..it wasn't like that. I'm sorry that your favorite band was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING on the punk scene back then. Sad but true that's how it was. Take a look at some of the videos floating around, I don't see shitloads of people lining up to see them, do you? Like this whole Parsons School of Design thread. This is laughable. Glenn couldn't have possibly ever gotten into Parsons. Parsons is *very* discriminating, you must have a killer portfolio not to mention very good SAT scores. As long as we are talking about these "fabrications" again...Pick up the current issue of Metal Edge and take a look what what the Evil Elvis said this time. I haven't read it personally BUT I have heard from one of Glenn's biggest fans that he had the audacity to claim that he attended photography school and took the pictures that appear in the box set. Gee.. funny but I wonder what Eerie thinks about that? Patricia and I believe that Glenn is living vicariously through anyone he respects that's achieved something. In other words... You're in college you finish college and accomplish something big in your career (ie: a major comic book or something) Glenns respects you because you've done something he could never do, or more specifically something he can never do well. Then he takes your story and morphs it with his own fantasy and VOILA! as they said back in the day.."more Glenn Danzig bullshit." Next week Jerry Only Bullshit.... just so you all know, I have nothing to prove here. I enjoy writing about things that interest me, I love Glenns voice as much as the next person. I just find the continual soap opera that surrounds him, and Jerry for that matter, fascinating. Must have been something in the water in Lodi. Brett: as far as "Dead Kings Rise" goes.. It's Jerry crooning over an acoustic guitar. Honestly it hard to listen to with out wetting your pants from laughter. Someone wanted a repeat of favorite songs. First of all, I've heard a lot of people say that Michale sucks. Mostly it's people that have never seen him or are just bitter because he's not Glenn. Also I've heard a lot of people (esp. after shows) saying that they thought he was great...I even heard one kid when he met Michale before the show say "I heard you were better than Danzig". Michale was just like "Hey, we'll see". So, I don't think it's fair to say that people will be thinking that Michale is bad and that he's just trying to be Glenn II or whatever. I don't know why they would. He doesn't sound much like Glenn, but he's a great singer. And as for there being a girl singer...I think that that would never happen. First even the most Michale hatin'-est fiend would probably want him over a girl. How much farther from Glenn can you get then a girl? I think it would have to be a really tough girl...I agree with you on that. But then again it would never happen. Even when they do let people sing during the shows it is never a girl. Like at DC when old mike got arrested...they were asking for BOYS to come up and sing. It's not like a girl wouldn't be as good as those people who sang that night (If you were one of those people, I'm sorry of course I didn't mean YOU!) And if we can get Blag Jesus or Wes Thomas into the channel, think of how interesting it could be! And to top it all off, some fiends are even getting laid because of this channel! ME included. It's a pretty good piece. The only new information is that Glenn would like to bring a Japanese animated film called "X" to Miramax for American release and that if it happens, he'll be picking bands for the soundtrack. He also mentions that in the "Prophecy 2", the film he filmed a part for recently while on tour, he plays "a bad angel that wants to kill all the humans". The film will be coming out from Dimension films, a division of Miramax that deals with horror oriented films like The Crow, The Crow: City of Angles, The Prophecy, From Dusk Till Dawn, and, most recently, Scream. All of the film projects that Glenn has recently been involved in have been connected, it seems, to his signing to Hollywood records. Hollywood records is a division of the Disney corporation. Miramax/Dimension films is also a division of Disney. Perhaps through some sort of inter-corporate connections, he's been able to work in films not only on a creative end (as with the Death Dealer film and the above mentioned X) but also on an acting end (with the Prophecy 2). I myself think it's a good move. Anyway, there's going to be some sort of interview or article with the Misfits in the next issue of World of Fandom. They seem to pop up everytime, yeah, spray it Bobby, well if the can is empty just wack it a couple times with the can. Not bad, two dead ones. Misfits 101, today Halloween! there is one boot i have seen, though at this point i don't have one and my friend sold his probably to Ken when i got him a real one for his birthday. If i remember correctly the boot was a hard cover that looked similar to the real thing but used the PLAN6 or PLAN69. The original, front cover - orange (tangerine skin color, you know that bright orange) there are vampire skulls, 14 going down the left hand side, 4 across the top till you get to the MISFITS logo done in Famous Monsters of Filmland type, 4 after that, then going down the right side 14 again, on the bottom there are 26 that go across and make a rectangle that is smushed between the title HALLOWEEN and a large scary pumpkin. That includes one large skul with devil like horns. this is centered on the bottom of the rectangle of skulls. HALLOWEEN is going down the left hand side in a black rectangle with white type. in the center of all this and takes up quite a bit of room is a black and white photos of the Misfits, with Glenn sporting the famous Captain Harlock t-shirt. the photo has a thin white frame that goes all around it except where the title and the pumpkin creep in. the back cover is an inversed version of the pumpkin. with a black and orange texture that fills the areas that the pumpkin does not. the MISFITS logo is in the very top left corner, black type outlined in orange. under that is HALLOWEEN 2(roman numerals). then the lyrics for that song. all in lower case. formulae ueteres exorsismorum, et excommunicationum, strigas et fictos lupos credere, daemon(the a and e are close together as one) pellem lupinam, in trunco quodam cauae, arboris occultandum, metamorphoses lycanthropie, possunt inquam. this is printed going down the left hand side of the sleeve and is in white over black rectangles that blend into the pumpkin. at the very bottom left corner is the PLAN9 in white with a black bat shaped area instead of the usual misshaped rectangle. PL1017 is in the pumpkin under the right side of the mouth. going down the right side written sideways is THIS RECORD DEDICATED TO SUSAN HANNAFORD ROSE, next to that is PRODUCED BY THE MISFITS C(IN THE CIRCLE) & P 1980 '81. The vinyl side A, has an orange label, large center hole, and top MISFITS orange and black outline, left side PLAN9 orange type black rectangle, 45 RPM, Stereo in black type; bottom HALLOWEEN 1(Roman numeral), Unauthorized duplication prohibited all black type; right side - c(in circle) +(not an & this time) p, Hell - bent, music, PL1017 - A, all is black type except the PL1017 which is orange with a black rectangle. vinyl etchings MASTERDISK(which is really stamped into the vinyl, to perfect to be a normal etch) next to it is HW, then PL - 1017 - A. Side B - type on label is all the same except bottom HALLOWEEN 2(roman numeral) and PL1017 - B. the only etching is PL - 1017 - B. Oh there is one little thing but this is if you are lucky. there is an insert with the lyrics to Halloween. black flyer with MISFITS at the top in orange, the lyrics are in black in orange rectangles, the face from the pumpkin is at the top right corner next to the first three lines and the mouth is above the next three lines. there are a total of 6 rectangles with lyrics three lines per. HALLOWEEN is going down the left hand side black type orange rectangle. in the bottom left hand corner is a bat, and next to its left wing is C(in circle) & P the MISFITS/ Hellbent Music( this starts an inch before the wing starts). PLAN9 is in the right hand bottom corner in orange. the sheet is a weird size too, height is 10 1/4" X width is 6 1/8". type for lyircs are all in caps. if you look hard enough you can get the 7" for as low as $45 or as high as $125. though i am one of those who loves the hunt, i find no need to sit and hope someone offers me something and fork over tons of money for the pleasure. its all out there if you want it badly enough. Next time Evilive part one, the numbered edition for the fiends club. has any of the european fiends seen the new Danzig lp on vinyl yet? i have been searching but no dice. the only thing that was turned up was a promo CD for the Misfits box set. this will set you back $15 - 20. This is from 7/3/94 at the World Music Theater in Tinley Park, IL. Great show. Anyway, if you want a vid of it, talk to him, I guess. However, I have an audio copy that is significantly better sound wise of the three songs, so if you're interested, drop me a line. Rich Goldman, that tape you got, Vampirella, is from Al's Bar 4/17/82. I believe that's in Los Angeles. Check Mark's web page for a complete discography that included that. Also, I've been getting my hopes up repeatedly for the show that Michale got arrested at. I want everyone who thinks they have a copy to listen to it again. If the lyrics in Teenagers slam Bobby, and at the very end of the thing someone says "Fuck the British, the British suck." You do NOT have that show. You have the last few songs off of the CD boot "Blood" which is a cut up Al's Bar show. Yes, that IS Glenn singing. The Max's Xmas show. There are no full length copies out, Glenn saw to this. I have a cut up version which I compiled from various radio interviews and the Flipside CD. 8 songs of varying quality (due to radio reception), and no "Blue Christmas" is NOT on there. If I'm not mistaken it is trivial to even ask about this as I doubt it will ever come out (I, however, am not an authority on this). Black Flag does "Rise Above" originally. The Metal Edge article is definitely worth checking out. Glenn even comments on each song on the album. If you're too cheap to buy it, go into Barnes and Knoble, take a seat and read it. And when you're done, there's an excellent Bon Jovi article after it. Hahaha. Glenn won't talk to Circus, but he will talk to Metal Edge. The question is, who do I hate more Marilyn Manson and Pearl Jam or Bon Jovi and Def Leppard. Too close to call.
