-------A message From Jerry------

re: Detroit Shows

First off a copy of a short fax sent to Ken Kriete:

Ken,
  Harpo's is out..Bad Karma..Try the State Theater
Jerry

ask and you shall recieve fiends--cg

Fiends,

I was thinking about the message about Harpo's and that fiends would call us
whores, I find that disheartening. How do we know what's up with a place if
we never played there or never heard of it. Our number one concern is the
welfare of our fiends, and their safety. Our goal is to have the most
aggressive show on Earth without damage or loss of human life. Please
fiends, be respectful to everyone. Keep us informed of all situations
because we can only make decisions based on the data we have. If there's
something we need to know then you must tell us. Harpo's holds 3000+ and
would have been a huge show for Detroit, that's all we knew. I'd rather play
to 50 people and have a good time than get anyone hurt. Understand that the
loss in cash to downscale the venue is the least I can do for a just and
noble cause. As always the Fiend Club has our total commitment. ----Jerry

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last week Bobby Steele wrote a considerable amount here's my response to him:
Bobby,
Since you are new to this list I'll introduce myself, I'm the Crimson Ghost
call me Jim if you like or C.G., as most others do. I always liked your
playing and never had a bad word to say about you until now. I find last
thursday's post made by you to be...well... childish. I'd never argue with
you about things that happened when you were in the band. But I will on
things that I know about. You see I worked for Jerry & Doy's Dad up until
4/95. I saw Jerry everyday and as the head office type person I made sure he
got all his faxes concerning anything. Needless to say alot of information
passed under my eyes. I'm sorry I have to say this in a public forum but you
decided to trash my friends in public. So I'm forced to reciprocate in kind.
There are almost 700 fiends that receive this list and we try not to have
too much bias. This post will attempt to shed some light on what you've
said. I'm not trying to flame you.
I've talked to a few other people on this one, so I'm not relying on my own
memory.
To the best my knowledge you were asked if you wanted to partake in the
lawsuit. At the time I guess you thought it was hopeless and declined the
offer. Well gee guess what, it wasn't so hopeless was it. What makes you
think that you are owed anything that you didn't work for? I remember Frank
& Jerry spred out all over the conference room with literally hundreds of
papers for countless hours searching for anything that would be helpful.
Your name was never part of any document, you were never listed as a plaintiff.
When I read your post, having knowledge of the above, Your entire post just
sounded like sour grapes. I couldn't help but think what a baby you sound
like. I really think you should stop using your disability as a crutch. Why
can't you just be Bobby Steele, not Bobby Steele with a disabilty. Stop
feeling sorry for yourself, every interview I've ever read you've always
pointed out that your a cripple, Why? Do you feel that you are so inferior
that the only way you can get attention is by sympathy. Don't be a fool. We
would listen to anything you have to say without having to feel sorry for
you. You also came across sounding like you were begging, I didn't count,
but how many times did you say that you were broke? Are we supposed to feel
sorry for you about this fact too? Get a job.
>THE UNDEAD do so well with ACT YOUR RAGE (which was released with
>the $6,000.00 I got from selling my old 'FITS 45's), while KRYST
>the CONQUERROR was a failure despite the limitless wealth that
>Jerry has?
I can speak for myself only on this but I really think that neither the
Undead, Kryst, Samhain or Danzig even come close to the power & rage of the
nucleus, The Misfits. As far as Jerry's limitless wealth, this is so
laughable. You are so off base it's not even funny. I think I can speak with
some authority on that matter. It's no body's business what anybody grosses
so let's just say that the Kryst release was done on a typical DIY
shoestring. Unlike you selling you Misfits collection Jerry worked his ass
off in his old man's sweat shop to get that CD out. Kinda sounds like
another band we all know and love, don't it. The scenario of Jerry working
himself ragged so his band can do things is becomming all to familiar.
As far as the Kryst vocalist issue goes. Any body with half a brain can
listen to the record and hear that it's Jeff Scott Soto. You see Bobby, I
can say that. Unlike Jerry I didn't promise the man that I wouldn't. What's
your point with that comment?
>     I won't give out anybody's real names, home addresses or phone
>numbers. I won't give info that might invade other's privacy, but
>I will be truthful as to anything pertaining to my days as a
>MISFIT, things I did - good or bad, right or wrong. The statute of
>limitations is up, so I have no criminal charges to fear.
Why didn't you just post that in the first place? That would have been
useful information that everybody would have enjoyed reading. Instead you
decided to make slanderous remarks about everybody else. Not only slanderous
but libelous since the internet is viewed by the courts as written
documents. and some of the remarks you've made are not beyond the statute of
limitations.
I have to be honest with you Bobby, I forwarded your post to Jerry & Co.
Needless to say he was not too happy about the things that you said. I was
going to post his reply to this list but I felt it was too harsh. It's
nobody's business. This is between You, Jerry & Glenn, nobody else. Let's
keep it that way.
Everybody says your a great guy and all, but you just came across sounding
pathetic. btw: You can get unlimited internet access for only $19.99/month I
guess if you let up on your marijuana habit, as you so graciously informed
us, you just might be able to afford some other things.
I may not be able to get on irc as much as I usually do in the next few
weeks. I'm doing the roadie gig w/ Buddy Miles & friends. Anybody that needs
to talk to me please do so via email.
Hey, I think it's a great idea.  Fiends, I try to let the band know
when you have ideas that are good like this.  What else can I do?
You should let the band know too!  Write to the PO box address.
There are only 6 altnerate versions that I know of that weren't
released.  If Caroline got the tapes, they put the stuff out.  Some
tapes are not in their hands yet.
> maybe all of us should start bugging the shit out of Caroline for this stuff.
It's on the page of course.  Their email address is - caroline@interramp.com
and their page is http://www.caroline.com/
They do receive tthe Misfits Bible and they do post from time to time.
The only difference between the discographies are on the Evilive 7"
numbers.  I can't figure out who's right.
I was given lyrics to post so fiends will be able to recognize the songs
at the shows.  That's all.
It's in the discography.  6900 of them were pressed.  They include
the Static Age version of Teenagers From Mars.  You can't get it anywhere
unless you're really lucky.
It's always hard to describe how someone sounds.  The best way to find out
is to go to the show and find out.  Basically he sounds similar to a young
Glenn, but different in his own way.  No 2 people will sound exactly
alike.  I have never heard anyone besides Glenn and Michale do the
Misfits songs the way I'd like to hear them.  He sounds great, and that's
all there is to it.
Fiends, let's get this straight.  These songs were recorded once.  One
time.  There is no alternate version of "We Are 138" or "Last Caress"
or "Return Of The Fly".  If you like to pretend, then fine...
However, one was taken from the master tape, and one was taken from
the mixing tape, so there are audible differences such as the 2nd guitar
which is more predominant on the Static Age tape.
The packages have all already been mailed out, except for a set of about
600 that will be mailed in April.  All the people who made it to the
membership package mailing were on the Fiend Club list by about Halloween
of '95.
Come on, this should be easy!  I don't put the pictures on the page
anyone with a bass guitar is Jerry.
Anyone with a microphone in their hand is Glenn.
Fiends - this money stuff is really none of our business and
should/will be worked out by lawyers and contracts.  However,
I'm going to try to clear up some stuff here.  Let's not
hey, this is my first post.  Yes, i'm a virgin to the bible.  i've been
reading for awhile and i don't know if anyone has mentioned it or not,
but i'll tell ya about it anyway.  my girlfriend just bought me this Cd
on dill records called" Misfits of Ska."  it was filed under "M" and has
the misfits font on the side.  it's a compilation of ska bands that
dabble in punk.  The  picture on the disc is from the "Legacy..." CD.
it's pretty funny, so if yr anyway interested in Skacore i recommend it.
The best band is the Independents. they are supposed to be the "real"
Misfits of Ska.  I guess they dress like the 'fits and everything.  They
sound cool as hell.  Their song on the comp. is called "Bloody night,
Bloody knife," and it's about killing yr prom queen date!?  Good shit!
check it out.  see ya
hello everyone,
i'm Franz, the Italian fiend; I've read on Bible #149 that the Misfits are
going to release their Black Light single at their concerts. Unfortunately I
wouldn't be able to get to one of those gigs, because they're not going to
tour anywhere reasonably near the place I live. I was wondering, is anyone
willing to help me out and, when the moment comes, get an extra copy of the
single (and the poster possibly) for me? I obviously will pay for
everything...I will appreciate your help very much.
I'm still waiting for my box set to get over here, reading about it on the
Bible kinda tired me, i would like to hear it now...well i'm finished.
Well, I suggest you the dear old Tube Screamer TS10 by Ibanez, the
puke-green one (if possible get the original one, not the new re-edition
they made last year): it is not a very fuzzy, mosquitoe-like distortion, but
instead it gives you a nice seventies kick-ass sound, especially if you
crank your amp volume to 10. I think the sound it gives is far better than
those new grunge/fuzz/metal/death/shit pedals that are coming out these last
years.
If you have a parametric eq boost all the freqs around 6300hz and keep quiet
those around 1600hz, 2000hz, and 2500hz: you should get a nice punky/old
misfits sound.  Enjoy yourself
i'm sure it's sung as is.  if you look at the other names mentioned:
francois and cecille, you get the idea that the people are of french
descent (forgive me, it's been ages since i've seen the original fly
movies).  given that, i'd always assumed that helen delambre was
pronounced he-len de-lamb.
any other ideas?
Most Misfits fans know that the Misfits record label PLAN 9 was taken from
the Ed Wood Jr. film PLAN NINE FROM OUTER SPACE.  They probably also know
that Tim Burton did a movie about Mr. Ed Wood Jr.  Well, it turns out that
Tim Burton is doing a movie called MARS ATTACKS!  I wonder if Tim Burton is
a Misfits fan, it sure would be great if he used the new Misfits song, also
called Mars Attacks, in the movie soundtrack.
Does anyone know if Jerry Only knows about the movie and if so, don't you
think that the Misfits should have that song on the soundtrack.  Both the
Misfits and Tim Burton have that horror-style motif.
Hey fiends!  Heard that some of you thought some of the lyrics in the box  are
not 100% correct. For the most part, they seem to be correct, but yes, some
seem to be off.  Such as in Angefuck, I always thought it was "Dry your thighs
and we'll leave, this ain't nothin new anymore" instead of what they have on
the sheet.  Oh well, I could be wrong.  One more thing, I read Bobby Steele's
post from last issue.  He seems very straightforward and willing to answer
people's questions, and I think that it's great that we have an actual Misfit
on-line.  However, PLEASE, let's not let this turn into the  Undead vs. Misfits
Bible or the Jerry vs. Bobby Bible.  Yes it's cool that Bobby is here, but I
sincerely hope that in the future he does not take up 700 lines of bible space
per issue.  Just my opinion.  MARK, any idea on how much tickets will be for
the U.S. tour?  Have a good one!
Hey fiends,
I just recently recieved my box set and i love it.  But I am not here to tell
you how great I think it is, or how it could have been better.  You see, I have
been reading the past few issues and I am sick of seeing the same regurgitated
nonsense about the box set.  It really is a waste of time to complain about the
box set because there is nothing that can be changed now, so why bother.  I
would like to thank everyone at Caroline and the Misfits for creating such a
masterpiece.
Peace out.
Subject: Contest winners
Thanks to all who entered my t-shirt contest.  I decided to make four second
prizes as well to keep everybody happy.  Anyway, the questions and answers
were:
1)  Name three songs from the Misfits first show at CBGB's in 1977?
Bullet, Hollywood Babylon, West End Avenue, She, In the Doorways, Harpies in
the Night, Feline Nursery
2)  Name the songs that Lyle Preslar played guitar on Samhain's "Initium"?
Black Dream, Macabre, Horror Biz, The Shift
3)  Name the only band, according to the Misfits website, that has covered
"Cough/Cool"?
Now this was the tough one... yeah, right:  ADAM WEST
The first prize winner was Aaron "Horror Businessman."  He wins the t-shirt
plus two upcoming ADAM WEST 7"s.
The second prize winners were Chris Hatcher "LordB", Gerry Blaylock, Daniel
Rodrigues, and Jamil.  These four guys will be sent one copy of each of the
two new ADAM WEST 7"s.  More info on those 7"s to come.  Rest assured, most
fiends will want them!  Thanks to everybody for making this such a pleasant
experience!
Subject: Stuff and Bobby Steele
Some stuff from the last Bible:
B.F. Fama (am I spelling it right?) mentioned how he liked the version of
"Hybrid Moments" on LEGACY better than the STATIC AGE version.  Wrong,
wrong, wrong!!  Listen again to the LEGACY version... Glenn's shitty bass
overdub has some kind of problem with feedback.  As the song progresses,
you hear this "BEEEEEEEEEEE" sound that gets louder and louder to the end
of the song.  It's not so noticable on the box set CD, but on my vinyl it
was enough to make the song almost unbearable to listen to, after I first
started noticing it.  I think the STATIC AGE version is a much better
recording of what's one of my favorite Misfits songs.
TO BOBBY STEELE:
----------------
Man oh man.  Where can I start here?  Bobby, I don't know you, I don't know
Jerry, and I don't know Glenn.  I've spoken to Glenn on a couple of
occasions, I've had some dealings/correspondence with Jerry and the new
Misfits recently, but the first I've heard from you is your long diatribes
in the last Misfits Bible.
My impression of Glenn:  Basically a very nice guy, but also very ambitious
and apparently not above stepping on the backs of some (former) friends to
get where he wants to go.  I think he's basically gotten there by now, and
more power to him if he wants to enjoy his situation and do as he sees fit.
My impression of Jerry:  A VERY nice and generous person, who loves
showmanship and being in the limelight.  He is very giving to his fans, and
I DO NOT believe he's "in it for the money" as you say.
My impression of Bobby Steele:  A sorry, pathetic whiner.
Bobby, you go ON AND ON about how much Jerry is in it for the money:  "Look
at poor, disadvantaged Bobby Steele, and then look at rich tycoon Jerry
with his 'infinite resources', trying to cash in."  I dunno Bobby, looks to
me like the whole time everybody and his mother was walking around wearing
Misfits T-Shirts, Misfits patches, Misfits whatever else, bootleg or
otherwise, Jerry and his brother were working in a machine shop making
craft knives.  So what if they work for their dad?  Where the fuck was
Bobby Steele all this time?  Playing rock star with some two-bit punk
outfits, running around with his hair-sprayed hair and his leather pants
looking like a late 80's Alice Cooper, and complaining about how poor he
is.  For years now I've read interviews with you where every time someone
brings up the Misfits, you come out with this story, "They say I was doing
all this stuff to fuck with them but look at me, I'm so poor I can't afford
a grain of rice, how could poor Bobby Steele do anything wrong?"  Oh, poor
poor Bobby Steele.  Look at how successful Glenn, and now Jerry, have
become, and poor forgotten crippled Bobby Steele has to play his vintage
guitars all by himself and nobody will help him out.  Poor Bobby Steele,
reduced to standing on a stage with a taped "back-up band", a guitar, his
nine toes, and a tin can to toss quarters into.  O, HOW MY HEART BLEEDS!
Glenn Danzig is AFRAID of Bobby Steele!
Glenn Danzig HATES Bobby Steele because he is a CRIPPLE!  >choke< >sob<
The Misfits doing a tour would make everybody tons of money... but only if
they brought back Glenn and BOBBY STEELE!
Bobby Steele is a CRUSADER for IMPORTANT ISSUES, against the BIG GOVERNMENT
and BIG CORPORATIONS -- he's "little people", he's one of US!  Unlike big,
evil Glenn, Jerry, and -- what the fuck?! -- The fuckin' GO-GO'S??!!
Bobby Steele is so broke he can't afford an E-Mail address -- see how the
SYSTEM is KEEPING HIM DOWN, and not letting him speak his true and factual
side of the story?
Bobby Steele gave the Misfits "two years of loyal service"... and yet
somehow he owns a piece of the Misfits, they wouldn't be the Misfits
without him.
Jerry needs Bobby Steele, because KRYST THE CONQUEROR was a FAILURE while
the Undead were an unqualified success (unfortunately still leaving Bobby
Steele as broke and pitiable as Oliver Twist).
I can't speak for whether or not Bobby is owed money for the work he did on
Misfits recordings.  Until I have the paperwork in front of me I can make
no comment on that one way or another, because that is 100% a legal and
contractual issue, and nobody on this list is in any position to speak
about that.  Bobby, if you have legal problems with regard to getting paid
for work you did on prior Misfits albums, that issue is between yourself,
Jerry, and Caroline records.  It is tactless of you to air those issues in
a public forum, and probably your doing so is enough cause for legal
action.  It also tells me that you are unable to find appropriate redress
through legal channels because your claims are unfounded, and that is why
you choose to vent your dirty laundry in this fashion.
I don't care how many asshole stunts Glenn Danzig has pulled in the past
with regard to the Misfits, he still has a good measure of my respect.  Now
that I've gotten to know a little bit about what has been going on with
Jerry and Doyle, they have the same.  Bobby Steele has none of my respect.
Please, whatever carpet you crawled out from under, go back.
Fiends,
First of all I've gotta recommend the vid. that Evan O'Brien is selling of
the Misfits '95 Halloween show, it's the best quality Misfits vid. I've seen
to date.  Also for Nick Veauthier, this is a good way to find out how
Michael Graves compares to Glenn.  I think he fills the role pretty good, as
far as vocals and stage presence.  Also, Monday afternoon I got a call from
Jerry....answering machine got the pleasure.  I couldn't believe it, he
called to inform me that he was out of the glow shirts (placed an order
obviously) talk about fiend appreciation.  How many other bands would call
and let you know about your order.
        Ok, SO I'm a big MetallicA fan, in fact they are my favorite
band.  But putting that and my love for punk aside....Doesnt it seem just
 a LITTLE odd that the Misfits Box set is as much as the MetallicA one?
The Misfits box Set has 4 CDs, a pin, and a book, in a very cool coffin
box.
The MetallicA box set has 3 CDs, 3Video's, a 72 page book and a stencil,
in a "sturdier" Mini-Road Case.
        Call me kooky, call me wacky, but it just seems a little odd they
want the same amount for the Misfits box set, it should be a little less.
Hey Fiends,
     Is there anybody out there who hasn't gotten the BOX SET, yet?
I gotta say; ya gotta get this thing. It's the best - short of
re-mixing the whole mess - which is a task none of us would want to
take on. I've hardly had a chance to take disc 3 out of my player.
I got two sets that have two disc 2's.. I'm convinced we need laws
to stop drugs in the workplace...
     I spotted an error on my last post RE: RATTFINK. Here's the
way it was supposed to go:
to cbmed (#141) If you write to me and send me your address, I'll
see if I can write down the RAT FINK solo for you if you can read
music. It's actually very simple...just fast. If I had a scanner
here, I'd draw a diagram. Anyway, I'll see what I can do. It's
basically a 'B' triad at the 11th fret with a 'D#' lead note - then
making it a suspended chord by using your pinky to make the D# into
an E (same as the intro) Then I slide into a typical Chuck Berry/
Keith Richards lick on the twelfth fret(bending the A on the third
string up to double the B and then striking the B and E together).
I then repeated the same B triad riff, only I play it on the
second, third, and fourth strings at the 16th fret, putting me in
the right position for the final lick (which I took from Jimmy Page
on "communication Breakdown") using the fourth finger on the third
string at the 16th fret; I bend the note up to meet the C# on the
second string at the 14th fret, then I pick the F# on the first
string at the 14th fret (bar the 2nd and 3rd string with your index
finger) then I pick the E on the 2nd string at the 17th fret (use
your pinky), followed by the C# on the 2nd string at the 14th fret.
While doing this lick, keep your first finger barreing the C# and
F#. Practice this riff slowly at first until the notes are all
staccatto and clear. Good luck - I hope that was clear. If
you're in the New York area, you can come to a gig and I'll show it
to ya if things aren't too crazy.
     Other news here is that this is having an effect on my
relations with THE MISFITS. Their manager has been in touch with
mine (how Hollywood - your people talk to my people). He was a bit
upset that I might say things that'll hurt them. I instructed my
manager to tell him that I'm only here to give you an opportunity
to see what I'm really like, as opposed to the way I'm portrayed in
their interviews. If they're upset about me talking about not being
paid yet...pay me. It's as simple as that.  They know I'm entitled
to the money. I understand they're concerned about how they're
gonna be accepted on this upcoming tour, so I've asked for them to
give me some decent amount of money - as an act of good faith until
we can get together after their tour. If they do, I'll let you
know. It'd make me feel a lot better, than just more idle promises.
The money would come in handy right now, since I'm trying to bring
THE UNDEAD over the top now. I could even get my teeth fixed.
     The hardest part about this should be in the split of the
Master Sound Productions (MSP) sessions. These were started with me
playing guitar, and then Doyle came into the picture after I
had laid down about 80% of what I wanted to do. So, I'm listening
very carefully, and writing a detailed analyses of where I can
point out my parts. Some things are obvious, while others are so
poorly mixed it's almost impossible to discern what's there. We'll
have to make some kind of compromise.
     Here's your next set of questions............
Stewart,
Well, I answered the question on equipment on yesterday's post,
hopefully you saw that by now. I guess there'll be some overlap
with some questions. Thanks. I don't know if you have the Box Set
in the U.K. yet, but when you get it, listen to what FRANCHE is
playing on THEME FOR A JACKAL. That guitar is burned into the back
of my mind. That's the part of the STATIC AGE recordings that I
remembered best for some reason.
Ben,
     Stop!  Thief!!!
     You're one honest fuckin' guy. You don't know how relieved I
was to get that guitar back. YEAH! That was THE PAUL that I played
in the MISFITS. In fact, it's the one in the picture of my arm  -
in the Box Set. Back then, it had the original wood finish. I
painted it black in 1980, and after I got 'the boot' I put that
guitar away - in my parents basement - and forgot about it. I
re-discovered it in '89. Thanks! There's a lot of memories in that
guitar.
     I'm hoping to have THE UNDEAD back together in time for
summer. I sure hope we get to play Indy. SLOPPYPALOOZA was quite a
memorable experience. Even without having my guitar 'stolen'.
     Before anyone gets the wrong idea, I better explain. Last
July; when THE UNDEAD played at Sloppypalooza, my guitar disapeared
after the show. I flipped out!! I had that guitar since THE
MISFITS, and it was one of my favorites. I remembered seeing
another guitar case in the dressing room. It looked almost exactly
like mine - right down to where the covering was torn. I figured
that whoever owned that other guitar was the one who had mine too.
I heard that Ben & the STAINS nearly shit when they realized the
mix-up. Of course we were back in New York when the Stains called
Steve Sloppy and told him what they'd done. Luckily, my parents
were gonna be driving through Indy the following Sunday, so they
made a slight detour and picked it up for me. That gig was a rush.
But the heat!!! Next year, they should have a benefit to buy an air
conditioner for that place. I almost blacked out a few times during
'Bullet'. That was the best time I've had since playing Louisville,
in '90. You better believe I want to go back there.
     Thanks again. Keep those questions coming in. As I get the
hang of this whole e-mail thing, I'm getting to like it. This is a
lot easier than, answering regular mail. If these guys pay me,
I'll be able to set up a permanent e-mail address.
     My friend, COREY, is setting up a TIMES SQUARE web site.
Currently, he's just gonna have gig info, but as we get it
together, we'll be adding photos, and possibly .wav files, so you
can hear the new stuff.
     Our next gig is a benefit for the Heart Association on Sunday,
March 10, at Kenny's Castaways at 10:00pm. We'll be celebrating my
midnite.
well i finally got the box set, was well worth going over my credit
limit.  i really didn't like discs 1&2 much, as i've got that stuff, but
i guess its easier then playing around w/ the vinyl.  disc 3 was great.
did anyone else notice the intensified cymbals and snares on TFM & CIH?
or was it me?  static ages was great also, a pain in the arse to get open
tho.  i liked the design, sorta chessy, but then again i like that sorta
thing.  also who cares about if you scratch the box set a lil?  what are
you more interested in selling in later on or listening to the music?
also while eerie's notes won't win the pultzier they are great.  it was
written from a fans perspective, not some 3rd party.  on another note i
was so geeked to see detroit on the mini-tour, and then i saw where at
and called jerry all sorts of names.  all of which he deserves.  about
harpo's they don't deserve a bands as great as the 'fits.  imho, and many
others once they hear the venue, it will look as if jerry has sold out.
the reason why?  back in january a friend got shot and killed outside
harpo's, the bouncers did nothing.  if jerry really is in it for the
fans, not the $15+ that ever harpo's show gets, they he'll understand why
he should change it.  it's a slap in the face to most people who'd wanna
see him, as many, including me will never go back to harpo's.  also if he
cares about his fans then he won't want them to get shot at, and possibly
killed.  anf if he ain't in it for the fans, but the $$$, then look at it
this way, he'll lose at least 500 people from showing up, thats over
$5000.  i personally wanna think he's in it for the fans, but if he still
plays at harpo's i'll have grave doubts.  if anyone knows him, please
call him and explain the situation, or he might be the next punk lying on
a gurney in detroit.  sorry to rant but it just struck me as really,
really odd that harpo's was picked, and i hope it gets switched.  also
i've noticed on earlier relaeses the name of the bands was simply
'misfits', but on collection II and the box set it's 'the misfits.'  does
this signify a change?  or is it just packaging?   oh yeah i agree w/ cg
on something, listening to the box set whil having sex is a good idea.
Fiends,
Here's a little small talk for ya. If you live in New York; or if you're
just visiting, here's a few recommendations:
My favorite restaurants:
     ROYAL INDIAN CUISINE - First Ave between 5th & 6th STs.
     TAJ MAHAL - 328 EAST 6TH St (between 1st & 2nd Ave's)
     RAJ MAHAL - 322 East 6th St "                       "
ITALIAN:
     CI VEDIAMO - AVE 'A' between 5th & 6th ST's
     CALIFORNIA PIZZA OVEN - 122 University PL
     SAL"S PIZZA  -  Ave 'A' at 7th ST ($1.25 /slice)
FALAFEL:
      anyplace is good, but the best is
     HABIB's  -  9th ST near ave. 'A' they go the extra -distance, using
more fillings than just iceberg lettuce and tomatoes
COPIES:
       KINKOS - 12th ST between University & FIFTH Ave.
       UNIQUE COPY CENTER - Greene St between Waverly Pl & EIGHTH St.
COMPUTER:
       COMP-U-TIME  - 121 University Pl. if you use a PC, this is the
best place. None of the other places know how to configure their PC's, so
what should take 2-minutes to print can take an hour. These guys know PC's.
They have MACs too.
Shitty recording. Here's the background to the Haunted House story. We did
the mix of that stuff on the Monday after Sid Vicious died. Jerry had
been helping Sid's mom all weekend, so he wound up bringing her to the
studio. I think she had a bottle of either Vodka or Gin (a fifth). We had
our Bacardi & Coke, plus a joint of Pot, Hash, and Coke.
This wasn't the smartest move. As we set up the mix; one of us would point
out 'I can't hear the snare' - so we turn up the snare. 'Now I can't hear
the guitar - turn it up.
We never thought of the idea of turning anything down. When everything was
on 'ten', we had to settle on the mix.
After the record was mastered, and the stampers were made, we decided to
go on colored vinyl. What we didn't know was that different pressing plants
used different machines, and different stampers. We wound up sending
the wrong kind of stampers to the pressing plant, so, I believe, they had
to make up a new stamper from the wrong one we sent them, and it further
affected the sound quality.
When the records came in; me and Joey were upset at the sound quality, and
didn't want it to come out like that. But we'd already sunk all this
money into 2,000 yellow records. We sat down and thought about how we could
handle this without losing our shirts. That's when we came up with the
idea of making up some kind of cool story about the record. I suggested
that we say it was recorded on the anniversary of Edgar Allen Poe's death,
which Glenn thought was kinda stupid, so we came up with the 'haunted
house' story. Dave Street wrote the insert, Glenn laid out the artwork -
For all of you fiends out there, though I have been a fan of the Misfits
for a few years now, I have not kept up on all of the other side projects
that former members have been involved in.  What I wanted to know is if
anyone out there can give me an idea of what Bobby Steele's project, the
Undead, sounds like?  Do they sound anything like the Misfits at all?
>From his last entry on the Bible, I became interested, but didn't really
want to spend the money on the disc if it's something I'm not going to
like (I have enough school loans to pay off as it is).
    Am I the only one who is getting sick and fucking tired of all
this bullshit about money between all the members and former members
of the misfits? I mean jesus, I wish everybody could just act like
adults and work this whole thing out. If Bobby is entitled to money,
(which he is) give it to him for christsake, I mean, it's not going
to break anybodys bank if the guy gets paid right? And quit with the
arguing. I wish everybody would just shut up. I just wanna listen to
the music, and if the new music is as good as the old stuff, great. I
think it is time for everyone to just put the egos aside and get all
the financial bullshit and slandering out of the way so that the
This post is to Matthew Leitman,
    Im glad to hear you got your box set through CDnow with no
problems. I ordered it over the internet a couple of days ago and I
can't wait to get it. I know what it's like not being able to find
any Misfits stuff here in Canada. So what do you think of the
Spectrum canceling on the band? Aren't there any other venues that
could hold them in Montreal? I drove up there a couple of times in
the last few years to see the Ramones. They played at the Metropolis
and I think that would be perfect for a Misfits show.
    And I heard someone say earlier that there is only a live version
of Horror Hotel on the box set? Is this true? If so, what is the
version on Collection II like? If anyone could let me know the
answers to these questions I would appreciate it.
i must say i was flattered to see bobby respond to one of my posts. (i'm not
worthy...) for what it's worth, bobby comes in a strong second. i like the
way he uses those full 6 string barre chords, and as far as leads, he was/is
far better than any other misfits guitarist, but i like the simplicity and
stange feel to franche's. i would also like to appologize for having bashed
bobby in the past because of stuff i'd head about him. hopefully everyone
	Fiends,
	   I have a few sightings for ya.  I'm a very big fan of Juliette
Lewis (you know, the killer babe in Natural Born  Killers, and I mean
"killer" literally;)) and so I see every movie that she's in.  The most
recent movie she was in was "Strange Days."  Near the beginning of the movie
a guys walks by on the street with a Crimson Ghost shirt on.  Also, in the
movie "Too Young To Die", Juliette is wearing the "Die Die my Darling"
shirt.  I nearly busted a nut!!  Juliette being very fun to look at because
she's real pretty was now wearing a Misfits shirt.  Two of the greatest
things on Earth together.  WOW!!  And the most creepy, my sister told me
that she was getting issued a textbook at our school (an old school
established in the 50s or 60s) and there was a name in it from 1980 that
read "Gerri Doyle"!!  Do you believe that?  Either it was a real Misfits fan
or a person with a really cool name!  Man, I feel like I've sinned to the
Misfits for not buying the box set yet.  From all the reviews you guys gave,
I think I'm gonna use my saved up lunch money for it instead of buying more
spikes and pyramids for my denim (we can't all afford leathers, ya know).
And finally, guys I know yer proud of yer straight-edgeness, but do we need
huge "sXe" symbols at the end of your posts?  I don't have a humongous "BEER
DRINKER" sign though I enjoy the pleasures of alcohol.  It just seems like
yer bragging when you "X" up your hands at shows and write "sXe" everywhere.
Oh well, I'll shut up 'cuz it doesn't bug me that much.
issue.  I mean from all accounts both he and Jerry seem like great guys.  If
what Bobby says is true about not getting paid, that bugs me.  I hope Bobby can
get some cash from the box set.  In an earler bible it was reported that bobby
was offered the chance to be in on the lawsuit but he denied.  If Jerry an
Doyle are getting paid, I think Bobby should too.  What Bobby should do is get
on the ball, call caroline see what info he can get out of them, Get in touch
with Jerry's lawyer and get all court papers he can, Maybe get his own lawyer
(Yeah,i know, there is no way he can afford one.  Maybe New york has some free
legal help out there somewhere, it's worth a shot.) What Bobby should not do is
speculate on stuff like how much of an advance the 'fits got, or that Jerry is
hoarding Bobby's money, I think Bobby should definitly gets some facts about
all this stuff.  Can anybody on the bible give us a lesson in royalties?  I'd
like to know more about this.  I'd like to think that Bobby, Glenn, Jerry,
  everybody could all be friends and all get paid for there hard work but I
Subject: Help.
Can anyone help me identify a tape I have? It's a studio session that doesn't
seem to be on the sessions disk of the box set. Let me describe it.  About12
years ago I got this tape from a friend. It has the entire Static Age LP on
it, followed by trackes 4-7 of the sessions disk in the box set, followed by
these tracks:
 The first song is 20 eyes. There are really full guitar strums on the first
down beat of each measure. Also, the galloping snare right before the vocals
kick in on all the other versions I've heard is totally absent. And, it
sounds like the drummer is riding on the snare a little, a kind of rockabilly
feel.
 The second track is I turned in to a martian. There's tons of reverb on the
vocals. The 1-2-3-4 that's usually on the snare at the beginning is all on
the toms. Big full guitar strums again.
 The third track is Astro zombies. There's a false start for 3 or 4 chords
followed almost immediately by the real start. The first time Glen says
"astro" in the first verse, the bass hits a really sour note. The words
"exterminate" are overdubbed with a really loud, spoken voice.
 The next track is Nike a go go. On the intro, the snare gallops have a real
rockabilly swing, not like the machine gun style on the walk among us
version. There's lots of constant feedback, and the last shouted "over" is
just "Oh" on this version.
 Next is All hell breaks loose, same general style.  Last is Devil's
whorehouse. The accented echos are very loud and the high pitched backing
vocals are not together with the lead vocals in a lot of places. At the very
end there's some very high pitched, very echoed snare slaps.
 I compared these to the sessions disk, and the other releases, and it's
definitely not among them. Anyone know what this is from? Send a message to
apsegal@aol.com. Thanx in advance, -Adam S.
Originally, when "Spinal Remains" was "Feline Nursery", the chorus
went something like this - "I'm gonna throw away the key to the Feline
"Harpies In the Night" had a line like "We scream like harpies in the
Subject: we are not sick men of asia
Well i know you fuckers hardly ever read anyone's posts these
days but spare me a minute.  I wasn't goin to buy the box set
until I actually read your posts.  You guys actually talked
me into buying it: and I'm glad i did, so thanx.   We're all
a little poorer now but it seems that everyone agrees that
this set kicks ass!
 cd 1 is cool for me because i never had collection 1 and I've
only heard it once and that was back in 1989.  I'd forgotten
but i still think the best version of Where eagles Dare is on
here!  And this cd is cool because it starts with She and
ends with We Bite, kinda a first and last song ever cycle
(yeah i know cough/cool was the first song but still this is
neat to look at how the songs evolved.)
cd 2 why legacy?  if it is their best-selling album (so jerry
has said) why include it?  if it sells so well then i would
assume most fans have it and put something else on there.
But still, Evilive is on here, so how can i complain, and
more importantly, Earth AD is here!  Still that is one of
my faves; glenn's thrashy direction died to quickly, i think.
cd 3 rips ass!!  The shit with Bobby makes the collection! I'd
read since the early bibles how all of you think his NOTLD
is the best version, & i pretty much aggree, but that snare
needs to be toned down a little, i think.  Anyway, his vampira
and violent world on here are the 2 best versions of those
freakin songs!  And the slower version of turned in to a martian?
best one ever!  Same goes for the myx-o-lydian Nike!
cd 4 is cool but i disagree that this would be the best Misfits
album.  I still gotta go with Walk among us.  Sure, Static is
great, but overall, I think Walk is the peak of the 'fits. Best
songs, catchiest choruses, still aggressive, & their image was
there & dominant.  I think if any Fits album would have changed
the punk trends of the time it would have been Walk, not
Static.  But ya never know.
	Oh yeah the booklet, great too.  The cover is cool as hell &
now i just gotta ask when's this gonna be a poster and/or t-shirt?
	OK here's my obligatory question:  back in 1989 i remember
reading an add in a magazine (maybe rip) for the misfits fan
club.  I guess now it was probably the doyle fan club.  I sent
for the package they offered (i don't remember if it cost me
anything) and I can not remember everything i got!  I do know
there was a pushead poster of these pygmy heads and maybe a letter,
now in hindsight i think it was an ad for the Kryst album, but
at the time i had no idea what kryst the conquerer or even who
doyle was! (remember i didn't have a cd player then, just tapes,
& there is no listing of members in earth ad, and my walk was
a dub of someone else's so again i had no idea of the names of the
guys in the band, just danzig.)  I think there were some tassle
wrist bands in there, maybe a pick?
	Anyway, what I'm wondering is, does anyone know if this was
the doyle club, or maybe the kryst club i was getting stuff
from?  Maybe does anyone have any idea what exactly was in that
package? Maybe someone on here got it too.  Anyway, I guess i had
to buy something to remain on the list cause i never heard from
them again.  If anyone knows more about this, let me know, and
in case you're wondering i have no idea where that pushead
poster is now, which is surprising cause I like his stuff a
lot.
	Oh yeah, Mark, keep that guy's proposal of selling the
Black Light 7" yourself in mind.  I plan on seeing them in
DC but there's always the chance I won't be able to get myself
a copy.  If you are selling them like he said only one or 2
per person i think that'll solve a lot of problems.
	Right, then,
In the "June" edition of "Metal Maniacs" is 3+ page article on the Misfits.
 It doesn't have too many new facts that most of us don't already know but
there are some cool pictures such as a close up of Michale Graves on the mic
and one of Jerry and Doyle on the set while filming the "pilot" for their
horror movie series.  That's the best one of all (to me at least).  They're
sitting at a long, rough cut table supported by what looks to be stone slabs
and gargoyles and covered by skulls and assorted other bones.  Each of them
is sitting in an electric chair.  Whoever wrote the article referred to
Franche Coma as "Franga Coma"(?).  Jerry also accuses (in a round-about way)
Bon Jovi of stealing a quote from him and using it as their new album title:
 "Keep the Faith" because he used to end letters with the phrase "Keep the
Faith, Jerry Only."  My baby sitter used to use that phrase years ago.  Maybe
it's a New Jersey thing.  I don't know.  Anyway, it's a pretty cool article
all in all.  It's too bad no other "big" publication is doing pieces on them.
 Fangoria should even do one on them instead of doing articles on "Tremors
2".  And, now that Bobby Steele is listening, I'd just like to apologize on
behalf of all Misfits fiends for the jerks on line at the signing who gave
you a hard time on line because of your handicap (they yelled something
mindless like "Nice shoes" ...).  You gave the fans some of your time and was
great to all who met you but I guess that doesn't count for much with some
people.  I'd never been interested in the Undead but after meeting you in
person, decided to order one.  Anyway, that's about it ...
Fiends,
Another crazy New York weekend. If it snows again - I'm gonna get a gun
and kill the entire weather bureau. Enoughs enough.
It looks like there'll be a TIMES SQUARE 45 coming out soon. We're
negotiating a one-off licensing deal with a local label.
I've gotten some email at my address, but I want to explain. This'll be
more fun, and informative if you keep all your questions and comments on
the MISFITS bbs. If you have a personal message, just let MARK know it's
personal - or wait til the last week of March. I'll give out my email
address then, and you can send me your personal messages, but for now I'd
appreciate it if you'd just keep this on the BBs - so everyone can share in
the exchange.
Believe it or not, I'll be turning 40 on March 18th. ...yeah, 40! youre
not nearly as surprised as I am. I never thought I'd make it past 25!!
We'll be celebrating on Saturday, the 16th at the SPIRAL 244 Houston St, NYC
after Midnight. Come on down and join us.
Last week, I was reunited with Pat Ragan; an old friend from my MISFITS
days. If there are any more of you out there - email me now. I'm still
searching for Robbie Alter - the producer of the MSP sessions, and Danny
Zelonky, who produced the SONGSHOP session. The last I heard, Danny was in
Detroit; and Robbie was selling computers in the Miami area. If anybody
has any info on these guys, let me know.
Here's one for the PMRC...
About ten years ago, I saw some schoolkids interviewing the Pope. He was
asked what kind of music he listened to. He finished his answer with "I
like ROCK"!! And if that's not enough, It's just been released on the
wire services that the Pope just bought 100 pairs of DOC MARTENS. IS THE
POPE A PUNK? And just in time for THE MISFITS tour. Maybe we should start a
petition to canonize SID VICIOUS.
I asked for trouble; I got trouble. Neil McAllister, from San Francisco
sent me a scathing critique of how he perceived my behavior. Quite an
eloquent dude, too.
> From: Neil McAllister
Neil,
            That's a well written letter. I appreciate your effort.
            You don't know me, you don't know glenn, and you don't know
Jerry, but you say you've spoke with Glenn, and corresponded with Jerry;
so you've already given them a chance. Thanks for finally giving me a
chance.
>My impression of Glenn:  Basically a very nice guy, but also very ambitious
>and apparently not above stepping on the backs of some (former) friends to
>get where he wants to go.  I think he's basically gotten there by now, and
>more power to him if he wants to enjoy his situation and do as he sees fit.
Hey, Glenn is basically a nice guy, and I think You're the first person
I've seen who says so. What gets me is that you seem to admire him for a
lot of the wrong reasons. How would you feel if he put a gun to your head,
took your money and raped your girlfriend. Would that be acceptable to
you? After all, it shows ambition and an ability to get where he wants to
go, too. Glenn could've gotten a lot farther if he just relied on his
talent. There's a saying in the entertainment business, "be careful how
you treat the people you meet on the way up; they're the same people you're
gonna meet on the way down." I have a lot more respect for him than you
know. I've defended him on numerous occaisions, when I felt people were
being unfair.
>My impression of Jerry:  A VERY nice and generous person, who loves
>showmanship and being in the limelight.  He is very giving to his fans,
>and I DO NOT believe he's "in it for the money" as you say.
I'm gonna try to handle this diplomatically. If Jerry is such a nice and
generous guy, I don't understand why he didn't help Jaime out with the
$150.00 he needed to get to NYC, after helping Jerry set up the whole MISFITS
DINNER. Why are the ticket prices so high? And why doesn't the NICE GUY
pay me. He keeps saying he's gonna do it, but why the stalling?
>My impression of Bobby Steele; a pathetic whiner.
I hope I don't sound like I'm whining.I'm just trying to set the record
straight. After all, it was their record company that emailed this BBs to
say that we all got our money. I'm just saying 'it's not true' Joey Image
hasn't gotten paid either. Caroline told my manager that, when Jerry got
paid, he assured them he would contact me and give me my cut. He didn't.
>Jerry and his brother were working in a machine shop making
>craft knives.  So what if they work for their dad?  Where the fuck was
>Bobby Steele all this time?  Playing rock star with some two-bit punk
>outfits, running around with his hair-sprayed hair and his leather pants
>looking like a late 80's Alice Cooper, and complaining about how poor he
>is.
It's good you read my bio. I don't think anyone who's seen or heard THE
UNDEAD would call it a two-bit punk outfit. I do damn good - considering
my limited resources. And I never COMPLAINED. I'd hate to see how you would
've handled the same situation. If you read the bio more carefully, you'd
see that the writer is talking about my ability to survive. Maybe Jerry
and Doyle worked the machine shop 'cause they were sick of the music biz.
Jerry did denounce THE MISFITS at least at one point that I know of. There's
nothing wrong with being rich. And there's nothing wrong with wanting
what's yours either.  While they were working at the machine shop - to
make money - I was still making music, which I love. I hope that, one day,
my music gets me out of this ghetto. If it doesn't...I still had a great
time, lived my life the way I wanted to, did it without fucking people
over, and had experiences that you could only dream about. Remember... I
WAS A MISFIT. There aren't many people who can say they were part of one of
the greatest bands ever. A band that had a major effect on everything that's
happening in music today. Fuck. I'm proud of that. The money issue
is secondary, but what kind of person would  I be if I didn't just try to
get what I'm entitled to. Would you just sit back if your boss didn't pay
you what he promised you, for the work you did. You'd be a wimp not to
put up some kind of fight. Did you make the same criticism of Jerry when
he was 'whining' about not getting paid by Glenn?
> "They say I was doing all this stuff to fuck with them but look at me,
> I'm so poor I can't afford a grain of rice, how could poor Bobby Steele
> do anything wrong?"
You must be talking about the THRASHER interview, where Glenn tried to lay
the blame for that whole ELITE CLUB incident on me. My response was 'how
could I, on about $240.00 a month social security, afford to hire a few
thugs,and pay their airfare to SF, just to create a disturbance at their
show?' I think I made a valid point. On April 10, 1982, THE UNDEAD were
somewhere between NYC and Indianapolis the last thing I cared about was
THE MISFITS. THE UNDEAD were on the verge of releasing a new record. I didn't
even know what had happened. We played ON BROADWAY on April 15 & 16;
and I didn't understand why all these kids were running up to the stage,
pointing to their heads - and daring me to hit them. Until I just looked
up the dates in my calendar, I never realized how close the two shows were
We actually played the ELITE club on the 17th. Nobody ever said anything
to us. We were supposed to do a show, with D.O.A. and a few other classic
bay area bands on the 24th, but our van broke down and we got there
too late to play, even though D.O.A. were gonna let us jump on and use their
equipment, and that's where I met Tim, the kid who got hit.
>Glenn Danzig is AFRAID of Bobby Steele!
>Glenn Danzig HATES Bobby Steele because he is a CRIPPLE!  >choke< >sob<
Why won't he talk to me? He's got nothing to fear, does he? When did I ever
say he hates me because I'm a cripple. I don't think he hates me. Especially
from what people have told me about their conversations with him over
the years. Steve Zing told me that Glenn respects the fact that I do
what I believe in. I think you took my quote from his THRASHER interview
the wrong way. I was just pointing out a comment he made, and the sub-
conscious implications in that statement. If he hated me for being a cripple,
he never would've let me in the band in the first place, right?
>The Misfits doing a tour would make everybody tons of money... but only if
>they brought back Glenn and BOBBY STEELE!
I said, "what I'd like to do is get that line-up, the NIGHT OF THE LIVING
DEAD line-up (w/ Joey Image) back for one LP and tour, and we could make
a real killing". After all, this is the line-up that Glenn and Jerry have
both said was 'when the band was at its best'.
>Bobby Steele is a CRUSADER for IMPORTANT ISSUES,
Yeah, like 'drink til ya drop.' You're taking me a little too seriously.
Come hang out in New York for awhile, and we can share a six-pack of
'important issues'. I'm not MRR.
>Bobby Steele is so broke he can't afford an E-Mail address -- see how the
>SYSTEM is KEEPING HIM DOWN, and not letting him speak his true and factual
>side of the story?
Well, I am broke, but there isn't anything that can keep me down.  Certainly
not your verbal attacks! I fell between the cars of a moving subway train
and came out of it without a scratch - and  just under $15,000.00 that
helped keep THE UNDEAD going for another two-years, and helped me to
get some more recording gear. Does that sound like I'm being kept down? I
got this free AOL thing, and I took advantage of the deal. How's that
keeping me down? I always find a way. Read the email that came in from Daniel
King. I always find a way, because there are decent people out there.
      Out of curiosity, what exactly do you do? It's a lot easier to talk
with someone if you know a little bit about them.
>Bobby Steele gave the Misfits "two years of loyal service"... and yet
>somehow he owns a piece of the Misfits, they wouldn't be the Misfits
>without him.
Wrong!!! Get Franche Coma... he's a great guitarist, and originated the
sound. No matter who's in the band - GLENN CREATED IT. It's not the MISFITS
without Glenn...in my opinion. Glenn wrote the songs, Glenn created all
those great record covers and posters (which most of you have never seen)
It was Glenn's baby. You can't argue with that fact.
>Jerry needs Bobby Steele, because KRYST THE CONQUEROR was a FAILURE while
>the Undead were an unqualified success (unfortunately still leaving Bobby
>Steele as broke and pitiable as Oliver Twist).
Jerry doesn't need Bobby Steele. Where are you getting this idea from. I'm
just pointing out that, If I'm the fuck-up that Jerry would have you
believe I am, how was I able to do so much with so little money, while KRYST
did so poorly -even with Jerry putting eons more money into it than I put
into mine. He recorded at HOUSE OF MUSIC. That's a major studio. It's
gotta be at least $150.00 an hour. He put a shitload of money into getting
that out to radio stations, but he still wanted to call it THE MISFITS,
or rather, If KRYST had done well, he would still be doing it.
> Bobby, if you have legal problems with regard to getting paid
>for work you did on prior Misfits albums, that issue is between yourself,
>Jerry, and Caroline records.  It is tactless of you to air those issues in
>a public forum, and probably your doing so is enough cause for legal
>action.  It also tells me that you are unable to find appropriate redress
>through legal channels because your claims are unfounded, and that is why
>you choose to vent your dirty laundry in this fashion.
    Actually, I couldn't afford to get a lawyer. It's hard finding a lawyer
to represent you in the entertainment business, since there are so few
and there's enough other business that'll pay them up front. I have found
a lawyer who wants to handle the case. He'll even put up the $18,000.00
filing fees, but the catch is that he'll only do it if I let him "go for
the jugular". All I want is what's mine, nothing more. So I'm giving Jerry
a chance to straighten this out. Kenny has promised to sit down and talk
with me after they get back from Europe. There are only a few tracks that
are inquestion as to who played what, because me and Doyle overlapped
on the MSP session, and some of that stuff has part of me, and part of
Doyle in the same song(or is that part of me, and part of Glenn). I trust
Kenny. He never treated me bad when I was in the band.
You made some good, valid points there, so I hope I settled your problem
about BOBBY STEELE. This was much more te type of questions I was expecting
when I stepped into this arena. I don't know if I changed your mind about
anything, but give a listen to my music, and let it speak for itself.
I'm sure you know someone who has some of my stuff out in SF, ask them to
tape it for ya.
Please, keep it to one question, so other people can get in on this too.
Jaime,
       whew, I'm not good at writing tablature. Have you tried to figure
any of it out yourself? It can't be too difficult. After all - I did it.
        Is there anybody else that wants to learn any songs? How about we
take a poll of the guitarists out there, and I'll work out some kind of
thing for the most requested song. Writing it all out sounds like a project
in itself - and I'm trying to record new stuff while I'm doing this bbs
session. Maybe Neil can help ya (ha ha).
Hi everybody,
	haven't posted for long time and don't plan to.  Since the bible's
gotten so big, I don't get the whole thing, so I don't want to post since
whatever I ask/say has probably already been said and I just don't know
it.  Anyway, I was wondering if anybody's brought up the new issue (?) of
Concrete Corner?  I've never got it, but I'm assuming it's a tape you get
at record stores.  Anyway, on the radio commercial they say the misfits is
on it.  If anybody has this can they post what's on it, and if this has
already been done, could somebody just email me and tell me what's on it?
 Thanks
Just a few observations :
1) I'm glad Bobby Steele is contributing to the Bible. His comments and
   perspective are welcome, however this is not a forum for personal bashing of
   the other Misfits. I was hoping that we were over all that crap !! Save the
   personal attacks for the person.
2) What's the deal with ripping on the new Misfits lyrics? They were kind
   enough provide them to us in advance. Without music, I'm sure that a lot of
   songs would lose some of their appeal. I, for one, think the songs are cool.
3) The box set is awesome. The packaging is the best I've seen on a box set,
   and the contents of the disks (except for C I & II) are worth every penny!
   Even LOB has a purpose; it makes you appreciate the Static Age mixes even
   more !!
4) Best use for your old, obsolete Misfits CDs : find a friend and make him a
   Fiend !!!
  First of all I want to ask the Crimson Ghost if he has mailed out the misfits
picks to the donaters to jaime yet as promised?
I just got back to school from spring break yesterday so I haven't got to
give my 2 cents about the box set.  Overall it was good, but the listing tend
to be a little misleading.  On the sicker on the coffin it said that the set
included Collection 1, yet it did not include the entire album.  The following
tracks were nowhere to be seen: Bullet
                                Earth A.D.
                                Devilock
                                Death Comes Ripping
                                Green Hell
                                Wolfsblood
Then it said that the set included Collection 2, yet the following tracks
were not included:
                                We Are 138
                                Attitude
                                Last Caress
                                Return of the Fly
                                Demonomania
                                Hellhound
                                Bloodfeast
I think that we all agree that it was not necessary to even include either
of these albums in the set but if they are going to do it they should at least
include the whole album!   Speaking of albums where the hell is the Walk
Among Us album?   What the fuck!!1
The sessions disc was great but I felt that they Had too many versions of the
same song but then only one version of other songs.  I desperately
wanted to hear different versions or recording sessions of Die, Die, My Darling
and Mommy, can I go out and kill tonight?   There is only one version of these
songs that I have ever heard and probably will ever hear.  That sucks royal
dick, wouldn't you all agree?
Please, somebody give me some feedback on these opinions, I want to know if
I am the only one that feels this way.  Back me up or flame me, I
don't care.
I won't go on too long about the box.  Just about everything's already
been said by other fiends on the bible.
Static Age rules--Definitely the best Misfits album ever.  Much more
powerful than the LOB versions.
I've always liked WAU, but after hearing Static Age and the Sessions
disc, it sounds a bit weak to me.  It would be much better if the guitar
and bass were turned way up.  Does anyone agree?
Am I the only one who likes the box version of Spook City USA?  I read
somewhere that Jerry and Doyle don't even like the song.
The fast version of Where Eagles Dare (sessions #19 I think) is the best
version of that song I've ever heard.  I wonder why that was'nt released
before.
Bobby Steele makes some valid points, but he seems to contradict himself
a lot.  He thinks Jerry is a money grubber and yet he admits to wanting
to get the band together for a final money making retirement tour ala the
Who.  On his first posting, he pretty much expresses disdain for the
current Misfits and everything they are doing.  On his second posting he
claims that he wants to be friends with them.  There is obviously more to
this story than any of the Misfits past or present are saying.  I'd like
to see Jerry and Doyle address these issues also.
I also think ten bucks is pretty steep for a 7" and a poster.  Is there a
good reason for this being so expensive?
If the Misfits are going to be truly DIY, where does Caroline fit into
all of this?  Last I heard, they were owned by Virgin.  Hardly seems DIY
to me.  Is Caroline going to be putting out the new stuff?  Misfits ads
in Spin?????????  Say it isn't so.  Hold on, I think I have to puke.
To Keith Gwar Noss:  the "re" in Delambre is silent. It's pronounced
Hellain Delawm.  Check out the movie "the Fly" (original version)
I,ve rambled on long enough.                     ------Psycho Billy
Hey Fiends - do any of you remember The Manimals?  They opened for the
Anyone who hasn't checked out their EP Blood Is The Harvest, might want
It's got to be nice being on the east coast being able to see the Misfits shows! Anyway, I'm stuck here in Phoenix. Does anyone know if they're planning on coming out west any time soon? Seeing as how this is a -MISFITS- mailing list, maybe you should be a little more respectful. One more thing: What are the rules for being straightedge? I mean, let's say there's someone who goes all their life and never does any drugs or anything. Is he straightedge? Or someone who had a few beers last night, and decides they don't like beer anymore, how about them? As far as I'm concerned, a drug is anything that you become addicted to. Fiends, the version of Earth AD that we all know and love is the REAL version. Jerry just doesn't like SPOT's production on that album and thinks it should be mixed differently - that's why he makes those comments about the album. Trust me, even if Jerry remixed it, he wouldn't change it that much. The Doyle Fan Club existed to keep in touch with the old Misfits fans and distribute Kryst The Conqueror merchandise - so basically you were on both lists since they were one and the same. There was no real membership package. From time to time Jerry mailed out Doyle posters, catalogs, guitar picks, membership cards and letters. There was a special Xmas package in '89 that included 10 bumper stickers, a KTC flashlight, and a copy of the KTC album on CD and cassette. I am 18 yrs old and I just love the bible. I must admit that I have not been a fan as long as the rest of you probably have but I love the Misfits as well as Danzig and Samhain. i have been reading all your postings and have to say that I was in disagreement with the individual who said that Glen was a terrible singer. He is, and has been for about 6 years now, my favorite singer. I love all of his bands equally and I really think that regardless of his personality that the man has true talent in fact i am a little skeptical about this new Misfits singer I am assuming that he fits the sound of the band but I don't know if I am ready to accept the misfits w/o Glen however i intend to buy anything the band puts out just because it is the misfits. On another note i think it is great to have Bobby here with us even if it is just for a short time it gives us a very good chance to hear what he has to say. The point that Bobby made that I totally agree with is the fact that the Misfits was Glen's baby if you will and despite what he may or may not have done he deserves the recognition for if it were not for him all this would not be here there would be no fiends and that would just suck. Also I have to add to the hype of the box set. I personally caould not afford a copy just yey but a good friend of mine was nice enough to let me copy the discs and I will say that it has to be the best damn box set in existance. It blows the pants off the Metallica box set a set which although there are three different dics all the sets contain the same fukin material. But I digress this is the misfits journal and I only wish to discuss misfits anyway. I think the set is just the greatest. I will say that I had heard pretty much all the material on the damn thing thru bootlegs and actual releases but the set just fukin rocks I mean the sound quality is obviously far superior to my bootlegs. Well I could go on forever, but I don't wanna waste bible space I've already done enough of that So long fellow fiends I will return The Warhammer "I put an axe in my baby's head I'm gonna end up doing time She looked so good in RED American nightmare running scared ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Mar 1996 11:21:27 -0500 (EST) From: Jim Regan Subject: Re: Misfits Bible, #151 Anyone know what court and when the lawsuit b/tJerry and Glenn was filed? Well, as soon as I picked my copy up it fell open! Still, I paid more for the fucking thing (equivalent to $90!). ------------------------------ From: KENNEY@salem.wvnet.edu Date: Tue, 12 Mar 1996 15:49:32 -0500 (EST) Subject: hey mister, you didn't pay for your rice cakes Man o man, I am still so psyched over the box set.....I've listened to Earth ad almost nonstop. You gotta understand, that was the first fits album I ever heard....first time I heard it I was like "what the fuck is this?" but then in grew on me. and i think we all agree that earth ad is just about the most unlistenable (please, I mean that in a GOOD way) of all the Misfits albums. So basically that album's always been pretty important to me. Ok so here's the shit: all I've got is the tape..I'd like a copy of it on vinyl or cd so I can better appreciate the cover (my only complaint of the box set is no reproduction of the cover.....even considering how eerie von praised it in his liner notes!)... so I know the cd is hard to come by but if anyone has a copy of it or the vinyl or knows a friend who has it or knows a nearby store that has either of them, I would appreciate it very much if you'd e-mail me & let me know....also the price, too. One last thing: and this is in defense of 2 (i think) of the best players in the band: I've read in several articles or posts how a lot of people consider Doyle the least skilled guitarist ever to play in the band. I think that's bullshit. Sometimes I'll hook up my guitar and try to play along to Evilive, and that motherfucker is on fire!!!! He's playing incredibly fast, and you can only hear him loose his pace maybe once or twice if you really listen for it. Sure he (at the time) couldn't (or wouldn't) play hook licks like bobby or franche but keep in mind he was what, 16? I really don't know how is playing is these days, tho, so I'm looking forward to checking it out in concert. 2: Robo! How can you not respect robo? Of all the drummers for the fits I think he had the most to offer. Sure, Mr. Jim had the cymbal, rockabilly-like thing going, and both Googy and (from the little I've heard of him) Joey image were really good, but Robo was the shit. Now that i can actaully hear earth ad (god i hate cassetes) i'm amazed at how fast that guy is playing. And keep in mind he was doing the new stuff; he'd probably destroy all the older stuff cause he'd be able to slow it down. If he could sound so could that fast I bet he'd have no problem with the static or walk songs. Anyway I just wanted to ramble. Everybody on here always talks about the old 'fits songs, like they're the best ones. Bullshit. Respect is due to the last Misfits line-up (i'm not considering brian damage). I'm gonna go play green hell again. Later toughguys, Joe ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Mar 1996 15:59:53 -0600 (CST) From: Legion Subject: Membership packages Hello, fiends. First of all, The owners are a bunch of assholes who don't give a shit about their customers (just their money). All of their beer on tap is the cheapest shit you can buy (Milwaukee's best light or something like that) and their alcohol is all cheap shit put in the good bottles, for example Jack Daniels is really Evan Williams cheap bourbon. There are always a bunch of bums hanging around hassling the customers, I've seen them rob people who get kicked out by the bouncers and thrown in the alley. Another enlightening bit of information I'd like to share with you, Those cheap pitchers of beer you people always buy, were more than likely picked out of the toilet, puked in, shit
