Maybe Cleveland fiends could drive at to Oberlin and we could go out for Chinese food. Also, I think it's silly to talk about the Misfits personal lives. It shows this kind of weird obsessive loyalty to even think that we have the obligation or right to wonder who owes who money or who ripped who off on that record. not that it's not important, but for us to make judgements is kind of weird. I think we should talk about the Static Age album more because its so obviously the best Misfits thing ever. ok bye. ____________________________________________________________________________ *ABOLISH THE RACIST DEATH PENALTY* ++++ stop de execution of Mumia Abu-Jamal ++++ ++++ if you agree copy these 3 sentences in your own sig ++++ ++++ more info: http://www.xs4all.nl/~tank/spg-l/sigaction.htm ++++ ------------------------------ From: CPERSL@acd.mhc.ab.ca Date: Wed, 03 Apr 1996 11:55:50 -0700 (MST) Subject: bunk bootlegs last summer i bought DANZIG live'93, a big picture of glenn, shirt off, belt buckle shining, it said to contain last carress, london dungeon as well as she riders, twist of chain, and some other fucked up names of songs. anyway there was also a picture of the ink blot from IV on the back witch is interesting because that album never came out until thhe end of 94. also there was one john christ instrumental and on an unreleased song witch was pretty slow, glenn yells horror business and they go into the song, witch was cool because it wasn't listed but the next song was supposed to be last carress, however they repeat london dungeon, witch was already played 3 songs before. also there were two versions of mother , what kind of shit is this?? it is a little game the bootleg guys play. the disk had glenn's face on it with the hole taking the place of one of his eyes also i t had a MADE IN GERMANY sticker on it. i also bought a live beastie boys disk w/ the same sticker and it has two songs that repeat and to top it off they have a little trick of extending some of the songs, repeating in the middle of the track to make the song 5 min instead of 2. speaking of the b boys iheard back in the day they might of played with the misfits at some new york gigs, any truth to that??? after these two bootlegs disasters i warn everyone, bootlegs lick balls. as for the t shirts, i am a graphic design student so this is my bread and butter. for years i have looked for a black shirt with no type, just the crimson ghost skull, so i like that for the front and i like long sleeves with maybe 3- 5 little skulls on each sleeve. as for the back i envision a book looking muck like the necronomicon from evil dead2 but maybe with a crimson ghostish looking face on it and the words misfits bilble underneath the book in the classic horror typeface. just remember, the more skulls the better. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Apr 1996 14:50:47 -0500 (EST) From: Teevie Subject: bible shirts I hate long sleeves... even in winter i wear short sleeve T-shirts under my coat. I believe Glenn doesn't want to talk about the Misfits anymore is because they should have been covered when they were a band, not 15 years later. Glenn did Misfits songs with Samhain and in the early stages of Danzig. That gives him the right to do it with Metallica, he wrote the songs, he can perform them wherever and with whoever he pleases. >>Then I hear about his"involvement" in the Collection II and the box set. Well, considering Glenn wanted nothing to do with the box. . .Jerry was the one who did the lyrics, so complain to him, not Glenn. You can bitch to Glenn about not helping though, it would've been quite nice to have seen him help a little. They included everything the Misfits (with the exception of many sessions) ever did. So, even though M.W. was recorded during Samhain years, it does deserve to be in there. The same with Glenn's re-recordings of the couple WAU songs. First off, hat's off to Jon for the parody of the whole sXe thing. Fiends, if you are straightedge (like myself), there's no need for this whole long "I'm straightedge, if you're not straightedge, fuck you".....I forget who always does that, but it's a bit inappropriate. As far as the Psychomania review....yeah the tracks are a bit comical, but the sound quality is pretty good for those shows (9:30 Club and Wilson Center) Has anyone seen these Legacy of Brutality long sleeve shirts? I have a few catalogs that you can order them from....is this Glenn's work, or a bootleg? I wouldn't figure the Jerry and Doyle would do a LOB shirt. For the guy mentioning bootlegs and their value...technically they're not worth jack (as you mentioned), but I know my limit for a boot 7" is about $15.....that is I won't pay more than that. Now, most people refuse to pay more than fifty cents, and others will pay ridiculous prices ($45, etc). It depends who you talk to. Jolanta.....a Cubs fan? Right city, wrong team :) On the topic of record prices....a lot you can get them really cheap.....I have seen, that is was in the same room with an original piece of Misfits vinyl.....Evilive from the Fiend Club.....$150. I guess if I lived on the east coast, I could get damn good prices, but most of the Fiends around here who have originals paid loads and loads for them. Here's what *I* know, ALL of which has appeared on the Bible before (I think). The album will feature Glenn on vocals, bass, guitar and any other instruments, but Joey will be drumming. Supposedly Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains will be doing guitar on a cover of Black Sabbath's "Hand of Doom" (from the 1970 PARANOID LP). The album will also feature a re-recorded "White Devil Rise" and most probably "Deep" from the X-Files soundtrack SONGS IN THE KEY OF X. Eerir Von said on the Danzing Hotline that he heard Glenn does not want to be on American, and is waiting for the record-deal to go through with his new Evilive company. Look for a part where Scully calls Mulder a "big macho man" after they have an argument about who's gonna drive. The Danzig scene is next. To all Fiends, I was just wondering, are these supposedly new Misfits coming out with a new album? I always hear that they're playing songs from their old albums (from the 70's and 80's)! What's up with that? Can these guys exist without Glenn's lyrics? It has yet to be seen, by me atleast. I am trying to keep an open mind with the new Misfits, err, I mean the different singer and the guitarists. However, if this rekindled group wants to keep their name they have to live up to what it stands for. Which is kick ass lyrics and tunes, that are new and keep on coming. I am perfectly happy with the old misfit tunes, and if there were to be no more I would not be mad. But, why do these guys announce their return with no new album. Are they using the name to get our $? I mean, I don't want to hear someone else besides Glenn singing His songs. It just isn't right, would you like it if someone decided to make money off of singing your songs. I am sure I am going to get alot of heat from this, but remember, this is just what I am thinking, if I am wrong prove it to me, and I guarantee I'll have an open mind to it. Ok, there is a gang of kids calling themselves the Misfits. These kids ages range from 13 to 18. I just recently found out about this and when I found out I was like these kids need to get beat. What the hell a group of dropouts using the Fits logo and designs. The thing about this, is that tonight in cafe Voltaire I got in to it with there so called leader. I could easy take him out, but I'm not stupid. You take him out then you have a whole gang after you. It's one thing to be a fan, and it's another thing to rip off the greatest band of all time. All you guys (and there seem to be about 20 of you) seem to do is yap back and forth about who said what, who has good sources, blah blah blah blah blah. Who gives a fuck? Some of you guys sound like a couple of 12 year-old girls. Wake up. Here's a lesson I was taught when I was about 12: people are stupid. All the useless crap that's slung about in the Bibles is proof of that. 100% of the stuff on the page is useless for anything in life, but that at least I (and many others) enjoy reading, because we like the Misfits. So I am content to waste a little time (or a lot) on my Danzig-tastes. What I am not content to do is argue about meaningless bullshit that will not ever, ever, in any way, have any bearing on my life. A lot of the stuff lately goes way beyond flaming. And to take part in the immaturity a little myself, I'll leave you with this: those who flame are flamers. I realize that by even acknowledging the situation, I am succumbing to the stupidity, so I will speak no further on it after this. So if anyone wants to whine back at me, go ahead and use more of your own energy. That you do so when you know I don't care proves you're a pathetic worm. Sorry for the tirade, to the rest of you. I've noticed that everyone has been discussing the Misfits Bible shirt, I think that it is a good idea. No long sleeve shirts with CG's though, I already have a shirt like that. I was thinking that the shirt should be of a different color, like dark blue or something. All the MIsfits I have seen are black or white. I think that a different color alone would make the shirts a bit out of the ordinary. Well, don't expect to EVER get it. He might have some good stuff from time to time but it isn't worth being ripped off and having to deal with one of the worst personalities of ALL time. For example, I went there a little over two weeks ago to look at an "Unholy Vinyl" record. He was going to charge me $75 for a black vinyl version that was scuffed up and the spine beat in a bit. I told him I had to think about it (meaning "no") and he gave me a look and made some sort of pissed off noise and took it from me. I'm sorry I didn't want to be robbed blind! He sold EVB one of Jerry's bass guitars without telling her that Jerry had only loaned it to him for the front window and didn't tell Jerry that he'd made a buck off without Jerry's knowledge or permission! Bobby is a New Jersian. He's probably had a few dealings with the guy and I bet they've all been bad. He is an all around jerk to the Nth degree so be wary of him. I just watched a show on The Learning Channel called "The New Skinheads," and there is a scene where some of the rational, clear-thinking young lads were engaged in a tug-of-war. One was wearing a Crimson Ghost shirt. [that is *sarcasm* in the "clear-thinking" remark above] Next: > From: Guero > Subject: DEEP > eerie stuff. Anyhow, this reaffirmed my faith in Glenn being THE prime > writer in Danzig, and the complete musical genius behind the band - > though many of you will disagree. Also it is a relief not to here any of Craig, you know the only reason I disagree is that you limited your statement to Glenn being the prime songwriter for Danzig, when he was in fact the prime songwriter for Samhain and the Misfits as well. BTW how did you change your e-mail address? I wanna get rid of that stupid "B.M. Fama" crap up there on mine. And what is "Guero" ? last: someone posted recently asking about the chick in the videos for "Her Black Wings" and "How the Gods Kill." They are two different girls. The one in "Her Black Wings" is named Beckie Mullen, who has appeared in Playboy Magazine and on an episode of "Married with Children." Apparently there is a band called "The Beckie Mullen Experience" that is devoted to her. I can't remember where they are based, (as I read about them in a magazine about 2 years ago) but I think it was L.A or something. The magazine gave the address for her modelling agency or fan club or whatever, so I guess the guys in the band got in touch with the object of there worship. I know nothing about the woman in "How the Gods Kill", except that I'd like to meet her in a dark room. Didn't the "Noss" post that about a month or two ago? Please help us out with that one Noss! I too have that "Live In USA '93" bootleg that was mentioned last Bible. It's pretty good. I like the way that John Christ played the Misfits and Samhain songs. I emailed Eerie Von about this boot and he said that it couldn't have been from the 93 tour because they didn't play any Samhain or Misfits songs then. Just another example of the bootleggers trying to make a buck. Lastly are there any other Philly fiends out there? To all you fiends, just a little advice... 1) the bit about washing your Misfits shirt. this is the only way to make those t-shirts last wash it inside out cold water only when done in the machine shake it out, this will straighten and get it back to the true length hang it on a hanger when fully dry put it in the dryer to soften it. this is the only way to avoid shrinkage or holes. To Goat, you asked about the Parasites, i have one of there 7"s, and the last address their lead singer sent me(at least 2 years). You need to write Dave McCaenzie at 2640 Dwight Way, #105, Berkeley, CA 94704. If he still lives there he has a great list of records for sale. He sold me my original Walk Among Us promo poster and his roommate at the time sold me a first press Bullet. Also look in MRR, and as much as i hate to say it Peter Demattia should have video footage of them when they were still in NJ. if he hasn't moved it's 8 Haddon Rd, Hewitt, NJ 07421 Gouge, the interviews with Glenn done by Rikki were always negative. Rikki did not know how to interview Glenn and had a tendency to piss him off. If Glenn is into the conversation he looks you right in the eyes and never moves his head. You just have to know how to talk about the Misfits with him. Cause if you have the right records for him to sign and the right questions he will talk about the old days and usually gets carried away. He's the one person who contradicts the number of White vinyl Three hits from hell. Plus no one has ever come out with the fact that the black and white sleeve is rare as hell. Only 100 made. Back to the t-shirt for the bible members, i think we should use a real picture of the Crimson Ghost. Full body, holding the bible. Though i still think the shirt should be long sleeve. well till next time. I remember buying Highway to Hell and not long after that Bon Scott died, then the band decides that they're gonna get a new singer and they want someone that sounds like Bon. I remember reading all about Brian Johnson and thinking the way you do. That is until Back in Black came out. Brian Johnson was able to fill in Bon's shoes perfectly. OK you may say AC-DC got lucky but, hey what the hell. By the same coin I remember when all the shit went down in Van Halen, I was into David Lee Roth. When Sammy Hagar took over I thought it really sucked and the band never was quite the same. My point is you can't close your eyes or your mind until you've heard them play and they put out new material. Then and only then should you make comments like you have. Unless of course your one of those people that is totally against change. Give it a chance. back to your post, what did you mean by guitarists? The guitarist that they have is the same guitarist that they had when the band broke up. Maybe I'm reading your post wrong. ~-=`=-~-=`=-~-=`=-~-=`=-~-=`=-~-=`=-~-=`=-~-=`=-~ I wish they'd put Bill Clinton in a tomb... ...Hold on I think I have to puke... Bible Shirts: Here's my idea for the Bible Shirt. By the way, I personally like the artwork on the new shirts, so this kinda ties in with that kind of idea but it's still cool.(guess I'm white trash :), even The Ninjas think so, what with my red camaro and all. Anyway, I picture the inside of a church with stained glass windows and all (the artist could hide whatever stuff they wanted in the window patterns themselves.) Anyway, the left side of the picture would be the Crimson Ghost standing at the altar or podium or whatever it's called. He's all decked out like a priest with the white collar and such and he's reading from a book that looks like a Bible with the felt thing hanging out to mark the page. Only the book is the Misfits Bible. As you pan to the right there are the benches or the pews with the members of the Bible or fiends praying or what not and they're all drawn reminiscent of the creatures on the Earth A.D cover (ghouls with devilocks and decaying bodies.) And as an added bonus I think it would be cool if the first row of seats, which of course would be closer up, could have a rendition of Mark and C.G. and whoever else we decide, as ghouls, and they could be wearing shirts with the logos of all the bands on the list who cover Misfits tunes: i.e.- Adam West, The Ninja's, Astro Zombies, Devilock, etc. (Sorry if I forgot some.) This would also leave it open to add some of the other ideas people had of stuff on the back and sleeves and Bible numbers. Let me know what you all think. I personally would like to see Neil McAllister or Greg Petre draw this. They both kick ass as artists. (Check out Greg's page, WAY COOL STUFF!) http://homepage.interaccess.com/~ols Crimson Ghost Shirts: This long sleeve shirt that a lot of people keep describing, already exists. I own one. It's not really a t-shirt, it's that thick 100% cotton kind. Real good quality and the printing on it is pretty solid too. It's black with long sleeves and all it has on it is the crimson ghost real big in white on the front and five little ghosts running down one sleeve. I don't know what company manufactures it but, it is fruit of the loom and I got it here at a local record store in Columbus, Ohio. They don't sell it anymore but I could try to get some info on where they used to order it from and let you all know if anyone is interested. Just let me know. By the way, they still do sell the t-shirt version which is black, short sleeved and has the CG real big in white on the front with nothing else. So if someone wants me to check up on one of those for them also, again, let me know. Ohio Fiends: This will be the third time I've tried this. I would like to get the names, E-mail, and snail mail addresses of all the Ohio Fiends on this list. Not only so I can inform you if Devilock will be playing in your area and to correspond with some of you about the band, but also to let others know you're out there. Please, if your in Ohio and on this list just E-mail me. You dont have to write anything just give me your name and e-mail, and snail (if you dont mind.) Besides, it will help us figure out who is going to the Cleveland show on the 12th. See you there. Come on brothers and sisters, Mail me Dammit! We could even be the first state chapter on the list. So far, I know of (but no addresses): N. Veauthier, M. Kramer, K. Huening, D. Jacobs, GothikEye, Ringworm, and Nike(OhioU). Mail me guys and/or gals. Lyrics: I like Brett's idea about discussing the lyrics more often. In fact, I started a small discussion a while back about this same thing and it caught on a little bit. So I'll throw one out; in Violent World: "when the opportunity comes, can't afford to rot everybody." The second time he sings it, yes, but the first time, "when the opportunity comes......" after that, I hear something totally different. Unfortunately, on the lyric sheet for Walk Among Us this part is ommitted. Listen to the sessions disk and you can hear a lot of different shit at that point of the song lyrically. On all three versions. Any ideas? Jerry Cantrell: Someone wanted to know what I posted about Jerry Cantrell and the New Danzig album so here is what I originally posted: >Hey Fiends, >Just thought I'd let you all in on some info I read in a small >paper out of Cleveland called "Scene." The following snipet >was in the Feb 8th-14th issue: >"With Alice and Chains on hiatus and Danzig sans a guitarist, >AIC six-stringer JERRY CANTRELL has ageed to lay down guitar >tracks for Danzig's latest album project. Singer Glenn Danzig >is playing bass on the record, though the group is expected to >replace departed bassist Eerie Von and guitarist John Christ >in time to tour." That's all I know at this time and this mag is usually pretty good at being factfull so, take what you want from it. Just a couple more quick things: Whoever wanted the Concrete Sampler with the Misfits on it can E-mail me, I have an extra - but apparently they think the song is called "Bullets". I guess they dont believe in the single bullet theory. And to Chris (ChristoTer@aol.com), I was wondering if you sent my shirt out yet, brother. I think you people are spending too much time at your computers. Look out the window! Why the fuck would you want to wear a long sleeve shirt to a crowded show during a summer tour! The more I hear about these shirts, the more I think it's a dumb idea. Pictures of crosses? The CG reading a bible? This is the MISFITS, not FUCKING STRYPER! And make the shirts blue? BLUE? Yeah, right! Fuck that shirt! I know I'm going to take a lot of flack for this, but I'm really worried that all of these Danzig, Metallica, Kiss etc. fans are going to ruin the Misfits, and that's if the `fits don't (and I hope they don't) ruin it themselves. This is punk rock, kiddies. It's not about rock stars, hero worship, or commercial success like those stupid metal magazines you buy at the grocery store would have us believe. What's this I read a few issues back about the `fits cancelling a show because it didn't sell out? I thought the fans were supposed to come first??? Bobby, you said something a few issues back about someone who accused you of having a rock star attitude. Well, I wish it weren't true but I would have to agree with her. I've got Never Say Die and Act Your Rage and I really like them. But I doubt I will get any more stuff by the Undead now that I know about you and your manager's major label and MTV aspirations. I disagree with you. Punk Rock is not about a poor boy's way to get off the streets and become rich and famous. That's rap! Punk is about EATING the rich and famous. It's about being against the status quo, not becoming part of it! And it's about the members of the bands being no more important than any of the people who love their music. That brings me to my next big gripe of late. Anyone who would pay those idiotic collector prices for a record or CD is doing a huge disservice to the punk rock scene. These are not museum pieces! They are great records to be played and loved! Record collectors are not punk rock. They are small-time leeches! If you want the music, buy the box set or tape it if you can't afford to. And while youre at it, TOUCH the CD cases, look at them, enjoy them, let them get fingerprints and scratches. WHO CARES! At least you can say youre enjoying them!!!! It was a great show! We were really impressed with Eerie's singing. As for the music, well, I'm not one for "labels," but I'd describe it as a "driving, blues rock sound." Eerie was on bass (obviously!) and did about 70% of the vocals; Rick Dittamo was on guitar & contibuted some vocals; & a fellow named Rich was on drums. They played for a little over an hour to a most appreciative audience. They did a really good cover of--if I'm not mistaken--an old Temptations tune, "(I) Wish It Would Rain Down." Eerie seemed really relaxed & was obviously enjoying himself immensely. We had a wonderful time--it was well worth the trip! "Devilock" : "chopped up, hacked up...???" (**if you listen closely to the studio version, there is an extra line that Glenn sings that does not appear in the lyrics for WAU, and I believe that this is what he says) "Spook City, USA" : "well it sends an eerie invitation" [instead of "here it stands an eerie invitation"]...see also the other change to the lyric book that Mark made on the WWW page "Children in Heat" : "wind up running away" [instead of "why I'm running away"] listen REALLY close for this one. SAMHAIN/DANZIG: I think Mark put all the additions/changes on the WWW page lyrics already, so skim through those if you're interested... I still wanna know what the 2nd verse to "Kiss of Steel", the one missing word in "You and Me (Less than Zero)", and the ending yells in "Tired of Being Alive" are. I will pay money! Hopefully the Samhain box-set will have all the correct lyrics, (including the ones for Unholy Passion and Final Descent, plus "Mephisto Waltz"...but don't hold your breath for "Mephisto" lyrics). Also, the N-C-F lyric sheet omitted the 2nd verse in "Kiss..." so I'm afraid Glenn might not notice the error when he does the lyrics for the Samhain set. (Notice that the Misfits box-set is still missing the 3rd-verse words for "Violent World", just like the WAU lyric sheet did) let's hear those suggestions... -Brett ------------------------------ From: kansli@teletronik.se Date: Wed, 10 Apr 1996 09:03:57 +0200 (MET DST) Subject: Netless life Hi fellow Fiends! Adam mentioned the bible convention thing again last issue. I still think it's a great idea. But first and foremost, I think it's important to mention that the odds of getting the band to show up are slim to none, given that they'll be touring all summer. So it would probably be in our best interest to scrap the idea of the Misfits making an appearance. As far as the rest of goes, I don't see why not. I posted a lot of ideas last summer about this, and Adam just summed them up last time, but here's what I think a year later... Basically, I have all of the resources available at my fingertips to pull this thing off. In the past year I've become president of the Asylum (a university organization that brings in bands) and thus I've gained a lot of power within the university ranks. I can get us a place on campus (Penn State) to hold the damn thing. This could run us anywhere from $40 (total) to nothing at all - it depends which building. As far as bands go, I say we shouldn't have more than four or five...trust me on this. Also, I think that having five Misfits cover bands is a * terrible* idea. Who wants to hear the same set for five hours+ ?? A better option would be to have the original, more established bands on this list play their sets with a few Misfits covers thrown in here and there. The cost of having bands play would be $275 total because that's what the best soundman around here charges (and he's GOOD!). And of course, people can set up tables and booths and that sort of thing. Everything said and done, having a convention like the one I mentioned above would run us $315 tops per day. Unless some rich kid out their wants to cover the whole thing, we'd have to all split the costs involved (at least those attending would...). This could be in the form of a door fee or pre-sale tickets. So what do you guys think?? I could definitely pull this off if there was enough interest. I imagine this thing could take place in late July/early August - I'll be on tour before and after that. So post all ideas and concerns here in the bible - who knows, maybe we'll finally get our crap together and do this thing. When a friend of mine and I saw Danzig in Dallas on the Thrall/Demonsweat tour he did something that may or may not be out of the ordinary. For his last encore he said something like "you've been good to us...so we'll do something old" and then they played London Dungeon. Some of you probably think I'm full of shit but I have no reason to make this up. I saw Danzig on the tour before and the one after this show and he played no Misfits songs. Does anyone know how unusual this is....He didn't really seem very into it when he introduced the song but obviously the crowd went fucking nuts. I'm a Misfits fan and I belive in the punk ideology that seems to be getting lost. I do hope this "new Misfits" stuff is respectful of the past. If those of you who crave the Misfits (the way you know them from old recordings and pictures) want them back....the best place to look is Glen Danzig. Some may think his current format is Cock-Rock Heavy Metal but he is the Misfits...like it or not. I think we all know that inside. I am looking forward to checking out the "new Misfits". This just had to be said. ------------------------------ From: Bruce Lee Date: Wed, 10 Apr 1996 19:31:20 -5 Subject: Ouch! My Tongue Records. Fiends, Ouch! My Tongue Records is open and ready for business, and we need YOUR BAND... Ouch! My Tongue (home of the now-famous Ninjas) has a strict "We sign anyone" policy... this means even YOUR lame-ass band has a chance to hack it in the industry. We were started in 1993, but due to a lack of funds, we've been on a short hiatus for the past 6 months, but we're back and we're ready to sign some more bands... we cover everything from record production, to manufacturing, distribution, to radio play, even those cool white letters printed on the cassettes... we're totally DIY, totally indie, and totally dishwasher safe! Visit our web site at: http://www.evansville.net/~loser and see what we have to offer, what do you have to lose? NOTHING! C'mon... you know you want to. Keith from DEVILOCK... if you're still around, I'm real interested in getting a tape of your stuff put out... we've gotten even better since we produced the Ninjas demo, so if you liked that... just get ahold of one of us. Thanks guys... I wasn't sure if this question would be on the FAQ shit, and I don't really know how to get on the web, so here's my question: When the hell is Danzig gonna release that song I've heard so much about, "White Devil Rise"? I know this is the Misfits Bible, but hey, I've seen Samhain and Danzig posts before... Also, if there are any Fiends out there who go to the U of A(Z), e-mail me. It's lonely out here on the Arizona plain... Thanks to the dude who posted about changing your personal name on pine, I didn't know how to do that.
