They stopped playing because of the skinheads fighting with people. At the DC show there was some fighting and both Jerry and Michale spoke up against it. I believe something similar happened at the Cleveland show as well. I don't think they consider the trouble-makers who come onstage and bother them to be fans. I would think that you, as such an anti-metal extremist (as if there aren't a million better things to be against), would have a better understanding of what heavy metal sounds like. There are no guitar solos on the Earth AD album, the songs don't last longer than 1 or 2 minutes - it's just a different production style and a faster paced album. Most Misfits fans I know prefer that stuff to the Static Age stuff for some reason. Anyway David, I'm glad you actually went to the show to give them a chance. I think you were way too hard on them and expected too much out of the show, but at least you saw/heard for yourself. I hope you don't take my sarcasm the wrong way. I just want to point out that this is the band's first tour in about 12 years and a lot of things have changed for them. The clubs they played in back in the early 80's/late 70's were different from the ones they play in now, and many back then didn't have security. There's a HIGH probability that the guys really aren't aware of how badly security treats the fans from time to time. They try to do what they can - they rescheduled the Detroit show just because of 3 people on this mailing list. They do take the safety, as well as the opinions, of their fans seriously. This is also Michale's first tour as well as his first real experience with dealing with such devoted/crazy/random fans. His stage presence may also take years to develop. Imagine seeing The Misfits back in the Cough/Cool days, before they had a guitarist. Do you think it was fun to watch Glenn hit the keyboards for an hour? Back then he had long shaggy hair, as did Jerry. They would have seemed like a different band. The Misfits of the old days were not above fighting with their fans. One of the videos widely distributed among fans shows Glenn getting in a fight with somebody onstage, and we've all heard plenty about the Elite Club show where they started a riot and Doyle hit someone on the head with his guitar. Finally, in every crowd there will be people who aren't going to be happy. There are currently 778 people subscribed to this list, and tons of others who don't have email or who just look at the web page. Even though all fit respectivelly in each album. Well my favorite line up is the WAU line up of Glenn, Jerry, Doyle, and Googy. I just love that album, There is not a weak spot on it, and with 3 hits from hell ( iknow bobby was on there also). The sound the look was just perfect. They seemed to have more direction at that point. They seemed more focused. But again I say that is one of the great attributes to the Misfits is the difference between some of the recordings. And as for the which do I like better between the box and regular releases. Well that is tough I go back and forth. I have to say that the alternate versions are great to hear for a change of pace but the stuff that actually made it I prefer, with the exception of Halloween II. I love the box version , the sound is great and its much spookier then the 7δ version, and who doesnt love the ending? and its good to have you here I havent seen anything this good come from somone so new. I also have all the page printed up and I find it very usefull to have all misfits, samhain, danzig, and undead at my fingertips, so keep up the good work. Well, Chuck is filling in for his late brother in the Four Horsemen. His brother died, so Chuck wanted to help out the band. Check out some of their new material, it's not too bad, but nothing like Danzig or 'fits. John is studying classical guitar somewhere in the northern states. This is what he likes, classical guitar, which is why he's not in the Danzig lineup anymore (Glenn likes simple chords, and John apparently wanted to do fancy solos). Eerie I think is doing solo stuff or else starting up a new band. The new Danzig album is coming out in late summer/ early fall. Im a little late for posting this, but Ive been extremely busy lately. June 7, 1995 - Chicago, IL - Vic Theater What can I say about this show?!?!? Waited in line with a mixed crowd sporting anything from a devilock to nice clean cut hair, and a variety of fan wear. . .shirts anywhere from KISS to Oasis (?) to Ramones, etc. Being a fan of both bands on the bill, I was completely psyched for this show. Ive been an Anthrax fan for many years, and contrary to the thoughts before, they never broke up, they just pulled in a newly talented vocalist, just as the Misfits did. Since there are probably a number of metalheads subscribed, Ill go through the Anthrax show as well, so if your not a fan, just skip this paragraph. After the completely shitty opening act, Vic Vacuum and the Attachments (I dont understand why bad bands open up for really cool ones, first Gren, then the Deftones, then the Cows, and now this!!!) Anthrax hit the stage digging their claws in and ripping through a set of Thrax classics. Opened up with Caught in a Mosh and played their way through songs like Got the Time, Random Acts of Senseless Violence, and even Startin Up a Posse. They were in top form, playing much better than when I saw them in December. They were a tight knit group of great musicians who are far from washed up. The only thing they may be washed up by would be their popularity. Back to the underground. . . Now onto the Misfits. . . WOW!!! What can I say about these guys! Being Im only a 17 year old, Ive only been listening since 1992, this was the LOUDEST and most WILD show Ive ever been to. I thought the two Ramones shows were insane! The drums, as explained before, are gigantic, the floor tom looking like a big fucking cannon, protruding with spikes to make it look just up the Misfits alley. I was against the barricade, on Doyles side, and got a great view of the little glow in the dark Crimson Ghosts on his wall of sound. The movie was completely insane! If somehow a transcription of the movies would surface, post it right away! Chud walked out then Doyle and Jerry, with the out of this world guitars, and then Michale, who scared the complete shit out of me. The Crimson Ghost makeup was brilliant! Fit him great! The vocals didnt come through too well through the PA due to the heavy distortion on both guitars and the thundering drums, but from what I heard, Michale is a great replacement for Glenn. While possessing some Glenn qualities, he does have a style of his own. I actually didnt think he was acting like Glenn too much, but thats just my opinion. During Children. . . for some reason still unkown to me, Michale got into a little rumble with a dick up front. The guy, and these people still bother me!, tried to get away from the gaurds who were escorting him out. Why do people get into fights at shows, begin to get kicked out, and still try and fuck with security? Security will always win, its a given. It was nice to hear some Only vocals too! While Michale was climbing up to the balcony, Jerry vocalized Ghouls Night Out, which was quite a highlight! The new songs sound GREAT! I personally like The Hunger the best, but Black Light and The Haunting come in a close second! Due to some reason unbeknownst to many, there is some curfew in Chicago that I guess states that shows have to be over by 11:00. This prevented the encores to be presented, but they did get a chance to play two more songs after We Are 138. Even though Jerry promised to play us Eagles, they didnt get a chance to, but went through Come Back which they dedicated to a fan who recently passed away. Ive never been a big fan of this song, BUT it was great this time. It sounded really good! They closed the show with Die Die My Darling and left the stage. Unfortunately, I left right after the show and didnt get a chance to meet up with the band or any other Bible people, but hey. . .NEXT TIME!!! The set list to this show was almost identical to all the others, but Ill post it anyway. It seems like there is a great base here for the band that has spoken very highly (for the most part) about the Misfits show a week ago. This show of support is great. The vintage MISFITS tunes were skillfully resurrected and mastered live. The new songs promise a true return to the MISFITS horror rock that we all know and love. Jerry Only and Doyle are better than ever and play like the true living spook legends that they are. I don't know how many roadies the MISFITS have with them, but between all of them, and the club security - they could've done something other than give the nazis the power to end an otherwise good show. A few years back, when I was touring solo; I walked into a small club in Muskegon, MI to check out the opening band. of the 100 or so people there, at least half were wearing swastikas. Nazis don't like cripples ( cripples are one of the primary targets of neo-nazis in germany). They consider us to be inferior. I felt uncomfortable as it was, since this was gonna be the first gig of my solo tour. So, I walked up to the biggest one there - and ripped off his swastika from the from of his hat. Then I proceeded to walk around the place, ripping swastikas off of every kid in there. It was a foolhardy move, but the worst thing that happened from it was that a girl wrote to Maximum R & R and said that I knocked her down and acted like a 'rockstar'. So, you see; if a lone, 130lb GIMP can stand up to about 50 nazis in a club . . . They don't have to beat up ANYONE. Period. They will get sued. And if their victims are minors - they'll go to jail - and meet lots of big, horny nazis. Especially for that roadie at the Chicago show. If he really did kick that kid in the face after he was being held - well it's his conscience. I don't even know if this is all true, or if it fits into the "I saw OZZIE bite the head off a bat" category. The reason is that I'm sure most of you have noticed that when you go to #misfits half the time nobody is there and the most you ever get is around 5 users. Well after I came up with the idea and passed it on to Mark and he thought it would be good, it was decided to go ahead and set this thing up. Now as for the times. It was decided that most of you don't get on the Mirc till late night, so down below is the times listed for most areas. Midnight in the eastern time zone. 11:00pm in the central time zone. 10:00pm in the mountain time zone. 9:00pm in the Pacific time zone. This will only work with the help from everyone.
